Hello my fellow hunters and welcome back to 'land of monsters and hunters' and in today's chapter, I'm happy to announce that the winner of round 2 of the tournament that I mentioned in chapter 2 is gore magala, the Black Eclipse Wyvern we all know in love. Now all that's left is round 3, the final round for the last contenders remaining: nergigante, seregios, astalos, brachydios, lagiacrus and odogaron. Could there be only one left? NAH! The real reason I've made this tournament is to let you know who is coming to the story. I'm adding other monsters that aren't in MHRise as well, but keeping them a secret until a future chapter. PS: have you seen the trailer for monster hunter: legends of the guild that's coming to Netflix? I have and I am PUMPED for when it comes out. Enjoy.

Chapter 4: welcome to kamura
The riders and the hunter were on their way to kamura village on dragon back and it was completely silent on the way. nobody talked, not even the twins made a sound on the way. Hiccup had a question ever since they set off to kamura and it was really bothering him so he decided to break the silence and turned to jack.
"Hey, I'm just curious but how did you do that?" He asked the hunter who tilted his head in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Jack asked.
"The thing you did when you fought that bazelguese, the way you zipped up into the air." Hiccup replied and Jack immediately made an 'oh' face.
"Oh, you mean my wire bug." Jack said with a smile.
"The 'wire bug'?" Hiccup said, questioned while the riders looked at Jack in confusion.
"Yeah, it's an insect that lets us hunters move around our environment with ease. It has incredibly strong silk and can carry a hunter without much effort. Look, let me show you what it looks like. He said as he pulled something out of his pouch and a cyan blue insect about the size of a terrible terror's head appeared and hovered around them. The riders were impressed but snotlout was not.
"Pffft, do you honestly expect me to believe that something THAT small can carry you? You're clearly lying." Snotlout said to the hunter as the said hunter turned his head to the jorgenson. Jack stood up on toothless' back and crossed his arms.
"Don't believe me? Watch this." He said before getting ready to jump and Hiccup widened his eyes. Is this guy crazy?!
"Wait, stop! You're 5 miles above the ground! if you jump, you'll die!" Hiccup said, trying to stop the hunter who ignored him and jumped. Toothless was about to dive in to rescue him but a blue string with the wire bug attached to the end immediately shot up into the air and Jack went flying vertically and started to use the wire bug to swing around the riders. They were baffled by the sight, the tiny bug was actually keeping the hunter in the end. Jack swings around a few more times before landing on hookfang with a cheeky smile on his face.
"Still think I'm lying, Snotlout?" He asked the rider who shook his head, while Astrid laughed.
"Wow. you've scared us half to death to shut Snotlout up." She said to the hunter who turned his head to the hofferson.
"Yeah, it's a method parents use to get their kids to behave." Jack explained.
"Ah, the old fashioned 'scare to care' trick, very common back at berk." Tuffnut exclaimed while Jack had a curious face.
"Berk? Is that where you're from?" Jack asked hiccup after using his wire bug to zip back on to toothless' back.
"Yeah, it's our home village, it's also where dragons and Vikings live in peace." Hiccup replied to Jack but the hunter was confused about the term 'viking'.
"Vikings? What kind of species of wyvern are those?" He asked.
"Well, WE are Vikings and Vikings are warriors that have determination and strength." Hiccup replied and Jack immediately had another thought in his mind.
"Wait, you said Vikings AND dragons, you mean there's more of them in your village?" Jack asked another question and hiccup nodded.
"Yeah, dragons are intelligent and gentle creatures that bring people together, in fact they're more scared of us than we are of them." Hiccup answered but Jack raised an eyebrow, doubtful of that.
"I don't think that's true because in my experience, they would more often than not attack on sight. Threat or not, they're relentless towards humans and each other." He said and paused when he saw the bite marks from the bazelguese on the dragon's neck before looking at toothless and putting his hand on the night fury's side, feeling the scales.
"And yet by the looks of that wound, your monst- I mean dragon defended you from that bazelguese. *sigh* I guess you're lucky in the ones you found." Jack continued while hiccup looked at the injury on the neck. Jack was right, the bazelguese wasn't trying to get the riders out of its turf, it was trying to kill them and it probably knew toothless was the alpha of the dragons but it just didn't care. And that serpent ignored the alpha too, so it's probably from here too. Maybe the dragons here aren't like the ones he's used to and maybe they have got lucky in the ones on berk.
"I guess we have been lucky, I know I did when I found toothless. but me and my friends still believe that no dragon is cruel or aggressive without a reason, it's always fear or human influence." Hiccup said with a smile and the riders agreed with him.
"It must be hard living here though, dragons almost destroying ecosystems, creatures always putting lives in danger and that they're always trying to kill you." Atrid said to the hunter who nodded his head.
"It's a lot less peaceful than where you're from I'm guessing, yes. I sometimes wish that things are easier for everyone and everything. But that's the thing, life's unfair and there's no way to change that." Jack said gloomily before noticing multiple pillars of smoke and steam. His mood lightened as he was glad that those pillars meant one thing.
"We're here, let's land near the entrance." Jack said as he pointed to a gateway and the dragons started to land near the gateway. They all got off the dragons and Jack was heading to the gate.
"Wait here, I'll tell the chief about you guys so they don't get the wrong idea about your dragons." He told the riders and hiccup nodded in response.
"Good idea, we don't want our dragons being attacked by your people for thinking dragons are the ones native here." Hiccup replied and with that, Jack and his palico and palamute walked off to the village.
…
15 minutes had passed and the riders were being patient for Jack's return, well most of them.
"Uhh, Where is he?! He's supposed to come back by now, I bet that he's getting his hunter buddies to kill us and our dragons. I knew we shouldn't trust a dragon hunter!" Snotlout said in annoyance but hiccup rolled his eyes.
"He did not betray us Snotlout, he's probably having trouble convincing the chief that our dragons aren't a threat." Hiccup said to his cousin with an annoyed face. 3 minutes later, Toothless raised his head to the direction of the gate as he heard footsteps and the rider turned their heads and saw Jack walking towards the riders but he was accompanied by another person. He had grey hair around his face, looked like he was in his fifties or sixties and had metal platen on his chest, arms and legs. He had a furred coil and leggings and had 2 swords on his back and he was holding a staff.
"Sorry for the long wait, I've had trouble finding the chief." Jack apologises before clearing his throat.
"Hiccup, meet elder fugen, chief of kamura village. Elder fugen, the guy with a metal leg is hiccup, the rider I told you about." He introduced hiccup to fugen and fugen to hiccup. He approached hiccup with a comforting smile.
"So, you're the dragon master Jack told me about, i'm elder fugen but you can just call me fugen, nice to meet you." He said as he gestured a handshake and hiccup took fugen's hand and shook it.
"My name's hiccup haddock the third but you can call me hiccup and I'm not a dragon master, I'm a dragon trainer, nice to meet you too." Hiccup said to the older man with a smile.
"Noted, sorry for what happened to your leg." Fugen said as hiccup looked at his leg.
"It's fine, really." He said with a smile.
"So you're the chief of kamura?" Hiccup asked the elder.
"Yes, I've told the villagers that we have guests so you don't need to worry about your dragons." He replied and informed the chief of berk.
"That's good to know, I'll tell you about us and our story, the villagers need to know about us." Hiccup told the chief of kamura
"That sounds like a good idea, follow me then." Fugen told the riders and they did just that. When they entered kamura village, the riders saw people walking around carrying buckets of water and palicos carrying metal chunks. There were banners everywhere from the bridge near the gate to houses. The houses and buildings were not like the one the Vikings were used to. They entered the village with the dragons following behind and the villagers immediately started to stare at the dragons but it didn't bother them. The riders were amazed by the sight of this place, and Jack decided to give them a welcome.
"Riders, welcome to kamura village" He said, walking backwards and Fugen told a palico to assemble the villagers. The felyne nodded and dashed off somewhere.
"There's going to be a gathering soon." Fugen informed the riders.
"Good, they need to hear this." Hiccup replied
…
2 hours passed and the riders were in the gathering hub, a place where kamura's citizens gather around for meetings. The 2 hours were spent by hiccup telling everyone about berk, it's history, the riders and their adventures and the recent events of how he became chief, how toothless became the new alpha and about how they stopped drago from taking over the world with an army of dragons.
"And after that we arrived here at your village. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask." He finished his story and a female wyvernian (creatures identical to humans but have 4 fingers instead of 5, pointed ears and age differently than humans) with a red and white dress with black hair and narrow eyes named Hinoa, the quest maiden, asked first.
"Yes, did you actually save your village from drago and a massive ice breathing dragon?" Hinoa asked the chief of berk.
"Yes, we've not only saved the people of berk but all the dragons as well." Hiccup replied and a man in his forties with white hair in a ponytail named hamon, the village Blacksmith, asked a question.
"Does your village Blacksmith make a variety of weapons?" He asked the haddock boy.
"Yes, gobber is an expert of forging weapons and armour, he's even the one who built my metal leg." Hiccup replied to the blacksmith. 30 minutes passed and the gathering was over and before the riders explored the village, a male Wyvernian named Hojo gave the riders a copy of the monsterpedia, a book of information for every single monster recorded by the hunters guild. Hiccup and fishlegs were basically about halfway through the books their given, the twins decided to skip it because they're the twins, Astrid will read it later and Snotlout decided to have a read, he thought it'll be boring at first but later he started to take an interest in some that he considered as the 'cooler monsters' like the Glavenus (a brute wyvern evolved with a tail sharp as a blade and heat up by high amounts of friction, causing to turn it into a lethal weapon) and the tigrex (a flying wyvern that's been said that it came straight out of prehistory, thus giving it the title 'the ancient tyrant'. it can use its powerful forearms for devastating charges, has an incredibly powerful jaw to crush anything between its teeth and has a roar so loud it can shatter the earth its standing on), he hates to admit it but he's enjoying reading this book. He was sitting next to hookfang, reading until he noticed a girl in green clothing named yomogi, the village chef, was waving someone goodbye next to a table. Letting his curiosity take hold, he shuts the book and approaches the girl who noticed the Jorgenson walking towards her.
"Oh, hi! You must be Snotlout." She said happily.
"Yep, the one and only. Quick question, what are you doing?" Snotlout asked the young chef.
Oh, I'm just doing what I love, making yummy bunny dongos." She replied, making the short man confused.
"What's a bunny dongo?" He asked the little girl.
"I'll show you, have a seat." She replied gesturing to the table, Snotlout isn't the kind of guy to take orders but he's letting it slide this time and took a seat.
(Insert the bunny dongo song cutscene from MHRise here)
After a few minutes, the bunny dongos were done and were set on a plate with a cup of tea in front of Snotlout. The dongos were cooked little balls of dough skewered with sticks, he didn't know if it'll taste as good as Heather's cooking but there's a first time for everything. He picked up a stick of dongos and took a bite. After chewing and swallowing, he said a few simple words.
"Oh no, my worst fears have come true." Snotlout exclaimed.
"Is there something wrong?" Yomogi asked, a bit worried.
"It's delicious! It's like my taste buds are laying on clouds of gooey goodness!" He replied.
"Can I give my dragon some of my dongo?" He asked the chef who smiled.
"Of course, everyone can have a dongo, even dragons." She replied, causing Snotlout to turn to his dragon.
"Hey fangster, try some of these dongos." The Viking called out the monstrous nightmare who raised his head and got up before walking to his rider. Snotlout slipped a dongo from the stick and threw it to hookfang, opening maw. The dragon snapped his jaws and by the looks of his face, the dragon loved it. Snotlout hasn't tasted anything this good since Heather's cooking. He immediately stopped eating and looked at the dongo. This thing tastes as good as Heather's, maybe even better. If Heather finds out about this meal and Yomogi, then she could have a potential rival. Then again Heather isn't here so it's probably fine, he shrugged and started eating again.
...
In the shrine ruins, the place where the riders first met the hunters, rakuja was watching the palicos taking a carriage carrying the almudron (a leviathan class monster that's also known as the 'hermit of the swamp' and also, as its title implies, spends a great deal of time lurking in mud, at least until it emerges to smother approaching prey. It oozes strange gold liquid to dissolve the ground beneath its prey, arresting them in a mire so it can drag them under) slowly disappearing from his sight before turning to the direction of the village and walking off. After a few minutes, he came across a few scorch marks, he stopped and examined the marks before scanning the area.
"Rathalos territory, definitely." He said to himself before checking his surroundings more for how many scorch marks were left by the Rathalos (a terrible wyvern called 'King of the skies'. Along with rathian, they take wide territories centered around their nests. Rathalos descend on invaders from the sky, attacking with poison claws and breath of fire.). Rakuja remembers an old saying his father used to say, 'the more marks there are, the bigger the monster's territory is'. He noticed claw marks too but they seemed... bigger than usual, he walked to the claw marks on the ground before squatting and ran his hand across it.
"Still fresh." He said to himself as he got up. These marks don't belong to a normal Rathalos, the claw marks were bigger and deeper and the scorch marks had a larger radius. This Rathalos, could this Rathalos be-? He suddenly heard a loud bubbly shriek before a large winged figure slammed down to the earth, rakuja immediately turned to the winged being, knowing that this was the rathalos, and saw the glowing red lines going along the wings and the glowing red eyes staring at the long sword user. The king of the skies growled at the hunter before making a hissing sound as it raised its head back, fire crackling at the throat and rakuja immediately knew what's going to happen as the wyvern shot out a fireball but rakuja instantly dodge the attack with his wire bug before readying his weapon to face the monster. The rathalos readied another fireball and was about to attack until it just suddenly stopped and turned its head to a certain direction. Rakuja wondered what it stopped before the rathalos took off towards the direction it was looking at. After watching the beast getting further and further away, the hunter suddenly remembered something extremely important.
"The village! It's heading towards the village!" He exclaimed before he took out a piece of paper and a pencil and started to write a letter, after he was finished he whistled for his cahoot (owl-like creatures that are beloved throughout kamura). His cahoot immediately came flying onto rakuja's arm and he tied the letter to the cahoot's leg.
"Deliver this to fugen." Rakuja said to the cahoot. Despite the fact that the cahoot doesn't understand what the hunter was saying, it understands the worried tone of his voice. The cahoot immediately flew off to the village and the hunter immediately started running.
"This isn't good, the village is in danger...!" He said to himself as he used his wire bug to make traveling easier. He needs to get to the village before that rathalos does, he needs to.
"Of an apex rathalos!" He continued as he zipped to the village, praying to the gods if he'll make it in time.
…
Welp, the riders arrived at kamura, an apex rathalos is approaching the village and Snotlout is enjoying the taste of yomogi's bunny dongos. So much effort for this chapter, hope you enjoyed this chapter. In the next one, Fugen will explain to the riders what the rampage is and that they will help Kamura fend off the rampage now that it's citizens have fire breathing reptiles on their side. The riders will defend the village and defeat the apex rathalos from making fire and destruction rain down on the kamura and it's residents. Ps, I will be doing 2.0 and 3.0 updates at the endgame chapters and I'm planning on doing a sequel after I've completed this story. not I'm not doing spoilers, I'm just letting you know that the sequel will take place in httyd 3. So you know who the main antagonist is, well, one of the 2 at least. The other main antagonist is our favourite fire breathing dragon God that got added to iceborne in October 2020. If you think who I'm talking about then please review. Happy hunting.
