Hello my fellow monster hunters, dragon riders and, well, everyone who enjoys my story. I'm Pleased to announce that nergigante is chosen for the story. Also, I'm doing a sequel for this fanfic that's taking place in httyd 3 like I've mentioned in chapter 4. It's obvious that grimmel the grisly (A.K.A: the night fury killer) is going to be the SECOND main antagonist and that he'll have interactions with my avatar for MHRISE. Yes, you've read this right, httyd fans, grimmel, the greatest villain of the httyd franchise and the greatest dragon hunter hiccup has ever faced, is NOT going to be the number 1 antagonist of this story, oh no. THAT pleasure belongs to someone else or should I say: someTHING. This creature is so powerful, so mighty and so feared, it puts the red death and the bewilderbeast to shame and it's been around since the beginning, where it all began, the first monster hunter game. Those who figured out who I'm talking about, please post a comment and for those who haven't figured out what this coming threat (that hiccup, toothless, my avatar, the riders and all the villagers of berk and kamura will have to face) is, don't worry, it will be revealed in due time. Chapter 5: the rampage
On the roof of the biggest building in Kamura, hiccup and toothless were resting and looking at the vast landscape. Hiccup had read everything about the native monsters on the monsterpedia and couldn't believe that there are so many of them out there from a speed stinger looking chicken called kulu-ya-ku (a bird wyvern that's also known as the "omnivore outlaw". It's known for scavenging and stealing eggs from monster nests for food. It digs up the earth to pick up small boulders to shield itself or smash against its enemies) to the snake King dragon, dalamadur (A huge elder dragon, massive beyond human comprehension. The only mention of its existence is found in fairy tales, which claim it can warp the very surface of the world and level mountains with a single twitch). There are so many but there's one in particular that's been nagging him like a terrible terror pulling your trouser leg for food. Hiccup reached for the pouch attached to toothless' saddle and pulled out the monsterpedia and flipped through the pages before stopping. The page that hiccup stopped at shows a drawing of a large tiger with a spear tail and had horns that resembled the helmet of a samurai. The back looked smooth and had what looked like arm blades on the front paws and the mouth, fore paws, back and tail were covered in eerie flames. This was the tiger he saw when he and the others first arrived here. He wanted to know the name of this creature when he first saw it on the book with fishlegs but the ingermen boy just kept flipping from page to page but now that no one is around to bother him, he could finally learn about this tiger.
"Alright, let's see what your name is and what you are." He muttered as he was reading the name. it's title says "wyvern of malice". That title doesn't sound friendly, at least he knows what the tiger's title is but it's not the name. He finds the name of the creature and reads it, it says "ma-"...
"Hiccup." Came the voice of Jack as hiccup's head jolted up to face the hunter. The hunter in question lands near the duo thanks to his wire bug.
"What's up?" Hiccup asked the great sword user curiously.
"Fugen's going to tell you about what the rampage is." The green-haired hunter replied before hiccup turned his head to his dragon who was looking back at the human.
"Well bud, let's head down." The rider told his dragon as the night fury got up before hiccup got on and flew back down with Jack just using the wire bug. After landing, he saw the riders gathered with Fugen and approached the group.
"Fugen, you wanted to tell us about the rampage?" The chief of Berk asked the chief of Kamura who nodded his head in response.
"Yes. the rampage, the calamity that has terrorised our village every 5 decades." Fugen replied and the twins were confused a little but fishlegs whispered to their ears.
"C'mon, 5 decades means 50 years." The ingermen explained to The twins quietly.
"The rampage is a huge pack of monsters in a giant stampede. They attack the village in a frenzied rage." Fugen explained to the riders as the said riders were slightly shocked by this.
"Nobody knows why this happens, but it came close to destroying the village last time." He continued before Snotlout raised his hand up.
"Uh, quick question, this… huge pack of monsters, how many monsters are there?" The jorgenson asked, trying to hide the fear in his voice.
"We don't know. there could be hundreds, if not, thousands" the elder awneserd before Snotlout was starting to sweat in fear. Jack noticed the sweat making the Viking's head shiny and started to speak to the monstrous nightmare rider.
"It's OK to be scared, Snotlout. The whole village is scared but being afraid won't help us fight off the rampage." The hunter said but snotlout immediately reacted by acting tough.
"Me, Snotlout, afraid?! No, no, no, no, no! I'm a viking, I don't even know what fear is." Snotlout said Cockley and did a terrible job at lying. Suddenly chirping can be heard and Fugen turned and saw rakuja's cahoot, with the letter attached to its leg, flying towards him. Fugen held out his arm as the cahoot landed on his arm, he then detached the letter from the leg. He sends the owl away before reading it. As he reads it, Hiccup notices the elder's eyes are widening as he reads along. Suddenly a man lands a meter from them, the man lifts his head to face the chief of kamura. The man had some armor that rakuja wears but only on the waist, legs and left arm. This man was master Utsushi or Utsushi for short, he mentors young hunters in training. Utsushi approaches the elder with a serious look.
"Anything info that you want to tell me?" Fugen asks and Utsushi nods.
"Yes. There's a horde coming, it's the rampage." Utsushi awneserd with a hint of despair in his voice.
"I thought so. get the village ready to double the defences, there's something else in this horde." Fugen said as he passed Utsushi the letter, Utsushi read it before giving it back and nodded. He then runs off.
"Why double, is the rampage really that bad?" Astrid asked Fugen but he shook his head.
"No, we're doubling the defences because of what's a part of this horde." Fugen replied to the viking warrior.
"Do any of you know what a rathalos is?" He asks the riders. Fishlegs raised his hand and started talking.
"Ohh, a rathalos is a red flying wyvern known as the 'King of the skies'. It breaths balls of fire and their claws are venomous." The ingermen awneserd.
"Elder, what does the letter say?" Jack asked, a bit worried that he may know what kind of rathalos they're up against.
"It says that there's a rathalos coming, most likely a part of this horde. But this isn't your average rathalos." The chief of kamura replied before he went silent. The silence was uncomfortable and ten seconds later, he finally spoke again.
"It's an apex, a big one." Fugen said dreadfully. The hunter has aggravation on his face as he clenches his fists but the riders were completely oblivious to what an apex is.
"An apex?" Hiccup exclaimed in confusion but fortunately, fugen explained the origin of this kind of monster.
"Apex monsters are monsters that are crowned leaders of the rampage hordes. They're much stronger than their counterparts. They're filled to the brim with rage and aggression. The only way to defeat one is either killing it or driving it off." Fugen explained to the riders about this kind of enemy. Hiccup suddenly had an idea
"Fugen, if this rampage really is that dangerous then we will help you fend off these creatures." Hiccup said to the elder who turned to hiccup in surprise.
"Hiccup, are you sure? You have no idea what an apex monster is capable of." Fugen said and hiccup nodded in response.
"Me and the other riders faced threats far bigger than this creature." Hiccup informed Fugen.
"And besides, his night fury is the king of dragons, I'm sure these dragons will listen to their alpha." Snotlout added but hiccup shook his head.
"Actually Snotlout, toothless tried to get the bazelguese to stand down but it ignored him and attacked." Hiccup told Snotlout.
"The dragons native to this region are very different to our ones back home. So it's most likely that monsters never had an alpha to begin with." Fishlegs explained to the short viking.
"Guys, guys. Rampage now, talk later." Astrid told the 2 and hiccup, Jack and Fugen nodded in agreement.
"Astrid's right, we need to protect this village. Fugen, where are the defences?" Hiccup said firmly to the other riders and asked the chief of kamura.
"The red stronghold. I'll show you the way." He awneserd the haddock boy.
"Alright gang, time to get to the stronghold." Hiccup informed the group before heading and mounting the dragons. Fugen rode with Astrid on stormfly and Jack rode with hiccup on toothless.

After arriving at the stronghold, Fugen explained that the villagers are preparing for the coming horde of monsters led by the apex rathalos. Fugen explained that there are 2 gates protecting the village: the first gate, also known as the 'front line gates', is the gate that holds off the horde from entering the next area, the next gate is called the 'final gate' or the 'last stand gate' is the gate that keeps monsters away from kamura. Fugen told hiccup that the only way to stop this horde is to defeat the apex because without the apex, the horde will have no choice but pack up and go home (basically the horde will just retreat). plan A to beat the apex is to make the monster retreat and if that doesn't work then plan B is to kill it, Hiccup really hoped that plan A would work. Fugen explained to the riders that there are 3 kinds of monsters in the rampage: monsters like great great izuchi and rathian are the attack monsters, monsters that attack hunting installations to prevent them to attack the other monsters, monsters like khezu and basarios are the gate breakers, monsters whose job is to attack the gates in order to get into the village, monsters like pukei-pukei and aknosom are the range monsters, monsters that attack installations and hunters like the attack monsters but they use ranged attacks to hit their targets from a distance, and finally there are the apexes, the alpha of the rampage hordes, they are all three types of rampage monsters combined, they attack hunters and installations from both close and long range and they attack the gates with great power and they have attacks called 'super attacks'. when they get to the peak of their enraged state, they expel all their rage in a form of an attack that deals extremely heavy damage to anyone or anything. Hiccup invents a plan to help the village fight the coming horde, fishlegs will have meatlug spew lava to make a stone barrier to keep the gate breakers busy, Snotlout and the twins will be in charge of dealing with the attackers with their dragons, he and Astrid will face the ranged attackers with toothless and stormfly and Jack said he and his hunting buddies will take care of the gate breakers. They had about 3 hours before the horde arrived and the said hours passed by preparing for the coming fight. While waiting for the horde, Hiccup sitting against toothless while examining the hard work put into the installations and defences before Jack approached the rider holding a water container in hand before giving it to the chief of berk and sat down next to him.
"Thanks." Hiccup thanked the hunter before drinking the water inside the container.
"No problem." The hunter replied before looking around.
"Didn't think I'll be fighting dragons again." Hiccup said to jack and jack nodded.
"Yeah, you told us about the war between humans and dragons before you tamed one and killed the red death, thus bringing peace for both species." Jack replied.
"Jack, when did you become a hunter?" Hiccup asked him curiously.
"About a month, I think." He awneserd and hiccup looked at him with a surprised look on his face.
"You're a rookie? Then why are you so skilled with that weapon of yours?" Hiccup asked, surprised and Jack nodded.
"Yep, I'm a rookie and the reason why I'm good with my great sword is because rakuja taught me how to master it, he says that the hunter doesn't choose the weapon because of the damage they inflict, they chose their weapon that matches their personality." He answered with a smile.
"About rakuja, how did you two meet?" Hiccup asked and Jack turned his head to look at the viking.
"We met 2 months ago, while I was still learning about being a hunter, the training wasn't bad but it was boring." The hunter awneserd while hiccup was paying close attention.
"In fact, I got so bored I decided to give myself a real challenge." He continued and hiccup had a feeling what the 'real challenge' is.
"I'm guessing that you wanted to face a monster, huh?" Hiccup assumed and Jack agreed with him. Jack was about to explain the story but then a villager called out that the horde was coming. The rider, hunter and dragon regrouped with the others.

"Everything's ready." Astrid stated.
"I'm actually a bit scared about the great danger but also excited about seeing new dragons." Fishlegs exclaimed.
"Now's not the time, fish face." Snotlout said.
"Alright gang, let's go!" Hiccup said before the riders mounted their dragons and flew to a different location of the area while Jack mounted a ballista. 1 minute later, the first few monsters climbed over the barrier. There were some of the gate breakers that were a dodogama, a tetsucabra and a tetranadon. Some of the attackers were a bishaten, a great maccao and a rathian. The ranged attackers were a paolumu, a pukei-pukei and a yian garuga. The gate breakers immediately made their way to the gate but Jack fired the ballista and the great maccao was about to attack but hookfang knocked the bird wyvern away. The raptor-like monster recovered and faced the dragon, growling threateningly.
"C'mon buddy, what's wrong? We too handsome for you? Haha!" Snotlout teased the maccao but unaware that the bishaten was about to attack from behind but barf and belch grabbed the tengu monkey and threw it away. Snotlout saw the 2 headed dragon throw the beast and thanked the twins. The twins and dragon turned to face the rathian, which was preparing a fireball before the zipple back breathed out the green gas. The flames of the rathian ignited the gas and exploded, causing the queen of the land to jerk back with a snarl. In the air, the paolumu was thrown away by stormfly as she growled.
"Alright fluff ball, let's see how well you fight." Astrid said as the dragon and wyvern engaged in combat. On hiccup's end, he and toothless were avoiding the fireballs of the yian garuga. The garuga caws at toothless and toothless roars at the garuga. The bird wyvern charges at the night fury but got knocked out of the air by the paolumu being knocked into the purple bird, both recovered and retreated and hiccup turned to his girlfriend with a smile.
"You know we had that covered right?" He asked.
"Well, somebody has to watch your back." She answered before the pukei-pukei attacked her from behind but toothless shot it with a good old plasma blast, the pukei-pukei retreated like the other 2 flying monsters. Astrid turns to her boyfriend who has a 'you're welcome' face. Back on the ground, Jack managed to repel the tetsucabra and tetranadon with the help of fishlegs and some of the villagers, leaving the dodogama to be the last gate breaker before Jack finally made it leave. He turns to the attackers and readies his sword and uses his wire bug to zip to the fight. Hookfang was trying to get the bishaten off his back while Snotlout was hitting the monkey with his hammer.
"C'mon you stupid monkey, get off my dragon!" He shouts before Jack kicks the beast and knocks it off the dragon's back. The bishaten gets up and leaves.
"Thanks, I owe you." The viking thanks the hunter.
"We're not out of the woods yet." Jack responds as he turns to the great maccao and fights the raptor-like monster. The rathian was growling at barf and belch as barf growled back while sparks came out of belch's mouth. The rathian takes a step closer but suddenly a plasma blast was shot right in front of it. The rathian looked up and saw hiccup, toothless, Astrid and stormfly. The great maccao was quite weak from the fight with Jack, it looks at him one last time before leaving and the rathian did the same with the riders. After many more battles with the monsters, they were all driven off by the combined forces of the riders of berk and hunters of kamura. The group watched the last of the monsters flee as they celebrate.
"Yeah! That's right, you better run! HAHAHA! Snotlout, Snotlout, OI, OI, OI!" Snotlout cheers with the others. Hiccup turns to Jack with a smile.
"You did good, for a rookie." Hiccup said and Jack laughed. The riders won the battle against the horde. Unfortunately their victory was short lived when they suddenly heard an ear shattering shriek up above as fireballs slowly descended to the hunter installations and the gate. Before they landed, the crew immediately scattered out of the way of the fireballs before they emitted a fiery field around them after landing and massive explosions came from the fireballs. One fireball destroyed the gate with ease. The riders and the hunter check their surroundings and can only see fire.
"That. Was. AWESOME! I wish barf and belch could do that!" Tuffnut exclaimed happily before crying and saying how beautiful the chaos was and ruffnut was examining the glorious destruction. The twins might be in love of this mess but the others weren't.
"What in Odin's name was that?!" Snotlout exclaimed in complete shock but soon got the answer to his question after someone said…
"IT'S THE APEX!" The young voice of Yomogi cried out as a large winged figure crashed to the earth in the centre of the flames. The figure reveals itself that this was indeed the apex rathalos. The apex growled as fire crackled from the mouth of the beast as it stood among the flames. Jack readies his great sword, toothless, barf, belch and meatlug growls at the king of the skies and hookfang and stormfly took to the air to attack from above. The apex was glaring daggers at the group with those demonic red eyes.
"Get ready." Jack told everyone
"Whoah, he's huge." Astrid exclaimed in awe of how massive it is. The apex then raises its head and Jack knew what it was going to do.
"Cover your ears!" He shouts before the riders immediately did what he said before the apex let out a mighty roar. The roar was so loud, it disoriented the dragons and caused the dragons in the air to fall back to the earth. The apex looked at the destroyed gate behind the group and immediately rushed straight towards the second area.
"It's heading for the next area! We've gotta move, C'mon!" Hiccup shouts as the riders and the hunter rode the dragons to the second area before the apex did.
The riders got to the second area and saw many people preparing for the apex's assault. Fugen saw the riders and the hunter getting off the dragons and rushed to the elder.
"Seems like our revealed itself. Well, we have everything prepared inorder to repel the beast: we'll use the wyvern fire artillery and some cannons to provoke it. We also set some boulders up there so when it's in range, we drop the boulders onto it. We also set a snare trap to keep it in place, we don't know how long. Plan B is to kill it. Hiccup, I know how much you hate killing dragons so the best we could do is pray that plan A works." He explains plan A to the group.
"Yeah,I hope we don't have to kill it." Hiccup said.
"Alright now, here's plan B: when the monster is enraged, our artillery will enrage it further." Fugen told the group about the plan but snotlout had a question about this tactic.
"Uhh, didn't you say that if an apex is angry enough it'll unleash all its rage with a single, freaking attack?!" Snotlout bellowed the question.
"Yes. but it needs time to prepare this attack, making it completely defenceless, we could use that to our advantage. When it prepares the attack, we use the splitting wyvern shot to take it down. I wish the first plan would work though." Fugen explained before the roars of the apex can be heard behind the second barrier. The group prepares to fight before the apex bursts through the wood and heads for the riders in its way.
"Scatter!" Hiccup told everyone and they did just that. The apex looks from one human to another as the villagers fire the artillery weapons, making it more aggravated than before, then a rock was thrown at it before the King of the skies turns to the direction of the rock's origin and sees Snotlout standing under the boulder trap, taunting it.
"Over here, Mr rathalos! Come get me!" He shouts before the rathalos charges towards him but hookfang swiftly snatches the viking, making the rathalos crash into the stone wall of the canyon, underneath the trap. The apex's chest starts to emit a dim glow of silver as it huffs and puffs. The apex turns to face hookfang who he and Snotlout are in a safe distance away from the trap. The apex begins to charge but gets caught in the snare trap. Its legs were tied with wire bug silk, due to how strong it is, which was being held by fishlegs and meatlug on one side and hiccup and toothless on the other.
"Release the boulders!" Hiccup shouts and up above was Iori, the buddy handler, (a young man who works as a buddy scout he loves to spend his days among the felynes and canines. They feel the same about him. He's also hamon's grandson) and his palico and palamute.
"Alright, time to show this apex the power of buddies." He says as he pulls the piece of wood keeping the trap in place. The rocks and boulders fell onto the rathalos after the riders and their dragons keeping it in place fleed.
"We did it! It's bound to run like the others did." Yomogi cheers but hiccup notices something happening to the rathalos. Is it… glowing?
"Uhh, is it supposed to do that?" Hiccup asked Fugen and the elder turned to the rathalos that's glowing. His eyes widened of what's happening.

"Take cover!" Fugen shouts and everyone immediately takes cover in a safe place and the dragons protect their riders as well as the hunter of kamura. The pile of rocks exploded. The dust clears to reveal the apex rathalos was now glowing silver as flames constantly crackle from the throat. It's in its enraged state. The apex roars ferociously and starts setting fire all over the place as some villagers were firing the ballista, cannons and other artillery weapons at the monster.
"Oh great." Jack groaned as he got up after being knocked down by toothless while trying to protect the rider and hunter from the explosion, he looked up and saw fishlegs and meatlug and Astrid and stormfly trying to get the apex's attention.
"I really hoped it would work." Hiccup said as he got up.
"So did I." Jack agreed with the rider.
"You know what this means right?" The hunter asked the haddock boy.
"Yeah, I know. Plan B." Hiccup awneserd sadly but Jack tried to comfort him.
"If it makes you feel better, I'll kill it so you don't have to live with the guilt." He told the rider.
"Well, you're a hunter after all so it seems fair." Hiccup replied with a smile. Hiccup mounted the night fury and flew to the battle as Jack headed for the splitting wyvern shot.
"Meatlug, spew!" Fishlegs told the gronckle and she spewed some lava on the apex. The apex turns to the gronckle and human before taking to the air.
"Bad idea! Bad idea!" The ingermen said in regret as meatlug immediately ran away. The apex chases the 2 as meatlug flies as fast as she can.
"Oh thor! Oh thor!" Fishlegs whimpers and the apex attempts to strike the human and dragon with its talons but toothless shot multiple blasts on the apex's wing, causing it to fall to the earth. The rathalos crashed into the earth and got up and checked the wing. It was damaged from the plasma blasts, it turned its head and saw toothless with his rider. The apex growls as its anger finally reaches its peak and prepares its super attack. Hiccup looks at Jack holding the lever to the splitting wyvern shot.
"Now!" Hiccup shouts at the rider.
"Eat this, you winged, fire breathing son of a baggi!" Jack shouts at the apex as he pulls the lever and the oversized Canon shoots out a giant cannon ball and makes a massive explosion. That Canon definitely killed it. Everyone cheers in Victory while Jack jumps down from the elevated platform and approaches the rider and night fury.
"That was pretty epic, Don't you think?" Jack asked the rider with a smile. Hiccup opens his mouth to respond but they suddenly hear growling from the cloud of smoke from the wyvern shot. The 2 immediately turned to see that the apex survived the explosion, seething with rage. Everyone else turns to see the monster alive.
"Impossible!" Minoto exclaimed in shock as toothless jumped in front of hiccup and Jack and growled at the apex monster.
The apex prepares a fireball to kill the humans and the night fury in front of it. Astrid calls out to hiccup as the rathalos begin to finish them off but they are saved when someone jumps onto the monster's back. The person's voice was male and Jack realised who this guy is, it's…
"Rakuja!" Jack yells as rakuja tries his best to stay on the apex. Rakuja pulls out his long sword and points it straight down at the neck.
"You're strong, I'll give you that. But NOBODY messes with my friends or kamura!" The long sword user shouts as he stabs the neck, the apex roars in pain as it starts thrashing more and more until…
SLASH!
The apex roars one last time after rakuja skewers the neck of the beast, killing it. The apex's dead body falls limb on the ground as the red parts like the eyes and wings began to fade and blood runs from the neck before rakuja pulls his sword from the monster's corpse and cleans the blood off his blade.
"I'm glad I made it in time or you wouldn't be here." He said as he took his helmet off and looked at the rider and dragon.
"Sorry you had to see that, riders" rakuja apologises as he climbed down from the corpse.
"I-it's OK." Hiccup replied before the people began to make repairs. It took an hour and everything was fixed up from the horde. It was nearly sunset now and Hiccup and Toothless were in the first area where they met the apex. He and his dragon heard footsteps and turned to see Jack, Rakuja, Astrid, Yomogi and Iori approaching the duo.

"Jack told me about your story, I'm actually quite surprised that you killed a dragon the size of 2 lao-shan lungs standing on top of each other when they're down on all fours." Rakuja said.
"Yeah. I didn't like it but it was the only way to end the war." Hiccup replied.
"Well after beating that apex, things calmed down a bit" Iori said and Jack nodded.
"Let's head back, we need to rest and besides, I was gonna tell you how rakuja and I met." The great sword user told the group.
"Yeah, Snotlout said I should have some of Yomogi's bunny dongos. He says they taste like Valhalla." Astrid added and the little chef told Astrid about the dongos she makes. Hiccup and Jack were about to leave with them but they noticed that toothless wasn't coming along. He was just growling at the barrier.
"Toothless? Is something wrong?" Hiccup asked the dragon, causing the others to turn their heads to toothless. The dragon wasn't moving an inch, he just fixated at the barrier.
"Is toothless OK?" Jack asked worriedly.
"He only does this if there's something dangerous coming our way." Hiccup awneserd without looking up from toothless. Iori notices a purple light behind the barrier.
"I think something IS coming our way, look." Iori said as he pointed to the barrier before they all turned to the purple light. The light glowed brighter and brighter before seeing the source. It was a hulking giant purple tiger engulfed in purple flames, holding a very injured dodogama in its jaws. Hiccup recognised this creature from the monsterpedia, this was the monster with the title, the 'wyvern of malice'.
"The wyvern of malice." He mutters quietly but Jack heard those 4 words the rider said. The wyvern of malice growls at the group before throwing the dodogama in its jaws at the group but quickly dodges the attack. Jack, Rakuja, Iori and Yomogi readied their weapons as Astrid pulled out her battle axe and toothless' throat began to glow purple with his fire. The wyvern of malice roars and jumps off the barrier to face the group as the fire begins to disperse. Hiccup couldn't shake the feeling that the monster was only looking at HIM, not the others.
"Whoa... this one looks really strong..." Yomogi exclaimed as the wyvern of malice continued to growl.
"We don't have any orders. It'll be wise to retreat because we don't know the capabilities this monster has." Rakuja said as he sheathed his weapon and the others followed suit and they all ran. The wyvern of malice roars before it starts to swing its tail and releases a purple fireball at hiccup. The fireball hits in front of his path, he panics and runs the other way. The wyvern of malice then growls and goes after the one legged viking.
"Hiccup!" Astrid yells as she, Jack and toothless run to save hiccup from the monster.
"Uggh, Yomogi, Iori, get inside the cave system." Rakuja told the chef and buddy handler before using his wire bug to get to the monster. The wyvern of malice rushes towards the haddock boy but toothless shot a plasma blast at it in the face. The purple tiger turns its head and hisses at the dragon and toothless hisses back and rakuja slashed his long sword across the monster's face. The wyvern of malice growls again and do battle with rakuja and toothless. Jack and Astrid rushes to hiccup's aid in a panicked expression.
"C'mon, let's get out of here." Jack said and they ran for the cave. Rakuja and Toothless saw the three running and immediately pursued them. Unfortunately, so did the wyvern of malice. Rakuja used the wire bug to make it to the cave system while toothless caught up to the humans before the said humans got on the dragon.
"Hurry, it's coming after you!" Yomogi shouts as the monster gets closer and closer with great speed until toothless suddenly turns and shoots a plasma blast directly at the face. The wyvern of malice jerks back, roaring, as one of its horns falls off before the beast stops and starts to regurgitate something. The monster spits out a piece of metal before turning to see the humans and dragon in the cave system. It immediately jumped at the entrance and started to thrash its claws to reach the group as it roared and growled but the entrance was too small and the group were keeping a good distance. Toothless was in a defensive stance as he growled at the monster. The dodogama that the wyvern of malice had in its jaws gets up and limps away. The monster roars again before sensing the dodogama getting away. The monster looks at the group one last time before it hisses and leaves. The group are finally able to catch their breath when the wyvern of malice leaves. Astrid notices the piece of metal the monster vomited out and she checks the coast was clear before rushing to the piece of metal. She picked it up and was grossed out that it still had saliva on it but she quickly realised what she's holding before running back to the group.

After explaining the encounter with the wyvern of malice to the riders and fugen, he told them that he's seen this monster before and knows what it's capable of.
"That monster is known as…" Fugen said before going silent. The riders and hunters were paying close attention but not as close as hiccup because he saw this monster when he and the riders followed the serpent to this region and saw it on the monsterpedia, now he'll finally know the name of this creature.
"Magnamalo." Fugen finished and everyone was looking at each other. Hiccup finally knows the name of this monster: magnamalo, the wyvern of malice.
"It appears alongside the rampage and feeds on the horde." Fugen explained and everyone was taken back by hearing this.
"It eats them?!" Fishlegs asked fearfully and Fugen nodded.
"Fifty years ago, kamura village was attacked by the rampage and magnamalo. And we suffered some devastating casualties." He continued and everyone was wide eyed of this new information of what they're dealing with.
"What!?" Snotlout exclaimed.
"So that could... happen again?" Iori asked with wide eyes.
"Wha-!? That's terrible! how can we fight against that!?" Yomogi said in worry.
"Don't worry, Yomogi. This time round, we have skilled hunters and dragon riders by our side." He told Yomogi as he approached Jack and placed his hand on the hunter's shoulder.
"Jack, we need you and rakuja to defeat magnamalo for us." He said to Jack and the hunter replied with a nod before the village elder turned to the riders.
"And riders, we need you and your dragons to help them protect Kamura village." He said to the riders but hiccup wasn't listening. He was thinking about the magnamalo, about how it felt like it wasn't after the group he was with earlier, it felt like the wyvern of malice was-.
"What's on your mind?" Fugen asks and hiccup immediately looks at them and sees the group staring at him in confusion.
"I-it's just that I couldn't shake the feeling that the magnamalo wasn't after me, toothless, Astrid, Jack, Rakuja, Iori and Yomogi." Hiccup replied, scratching the back of his head.
"What do you mean by that?" Jack asked curiously and slightly confused.
"It feels like it wasn't hunting us, it felt like it was hunting…" Hiccup said before letting out a deep sigh.
"Me. It felt like it was hunting me." He finished while the group was looking at one another.
"I think it is." Astrid stated dreadfully as she held out the piece of metal which turned out to be one of hiccup's metal legs that he lost during the bazelguese attack.
"Oh great, first the skrill, now I'm being hunted by a tiger that almost destroyed an entire village." Hiccup said in frustration.
"Hiccup, it's OK. You have us, we'll watch your back." Jack assured hiccup and rakuja nodded.
"And besides, you survived the apex after all." Rakuja added and hiccup gave them a small smile.
"Alright, let's head back. Get some rest, battling an apex can really wear someone out." Fugen said before they all headed back to the village.

In a cave far from the red stronghold, the magnamalo was feeding on the dodogama it caught. It suddenly stops eating before turning to the entrance of the cave and then walks towards it. When it exited the cave, it looked up and saw the blue serpent hiccup and the others were following. It lets out a deep growl at the serpent before heading back to the cave.

There you have it, magnamalo has finally made his appearance. I've been so eager to write about the wyvern of malice revealing himself to hiccup and toothless and now that I have, I can think of what else to add to this story.
