We're not five minutes into the movie when the fighting starts.

"Stop hogging the egg rolls!"

"Stop fat shaming me!"

Bella snorts into her cup.

"I tried to warn you." I laugh.

By the time the movie ends, we're pretty stuffed, and I'll admit that it wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be.

Angela holds out the four fortune cookies that came with the food. "Bella, you should open one."

"Okay, Rabbit."

Bella picks hers first, and I get mine.

And the battle ensues.

"I wanted that one!" Alice cries.

Angela just rolls her eyes. "Shut up and take the one you touched first or it won't come true."

"Girls." I warn.

They shut up and crack open their cookies, hiding their fortunes from each other.

"Nothing is impossible to a willing heart," Bella reads while they jab elbows, and then gives me this look that makes my insides turn to lava.

"Don't worry about money. The best things in life are free." Alice frowns. "Well, that's a crock of shit."

"Mary Alice!" I bark.

"What? Whoever wrote this has never touched the satiny leather of a brand new Kate Spade." She shrugs and tosses the tiny piece of paper on the table.

Angela holds her fortune out. "The real kindness comes from you."

Everyone looks at me expectantly.

"Mine says—" I unfold my fortune—"Patience is your ally at the moment. Don't worry."

Well, if that wasn't perfect for my current situation, I don't know what is. I catch Bella's eye, and she smiles softly before moving to clean up the giant mess we've made.
