It's been a few days since the girls ran into Gianna down at V.C., and I wish I could say that the drama has died down, but that would be a lie.
I'm currently sitting on the couch while my sixteen-year-old plays dress up. My nerdy, bookworm, throw your hair up in a bun and call it a day daughter has turned into a monster. Or maybe a diva. A monster diva. Whatever it is, it's a fucking nightmare.
"Okay, what do you think?" she asks and smooths the front of the seventh dress she's tried on.
"It looks good."
I get a glare in return. "That's what you said about the last one and the one before that!"
"They all look good, Ang. What's the big deal?"
Bella appears at the bottom of the stairs, and her glare is a lot scarier than my firstborn's.
"It's her first date, Edward. Try a little harder with the commentary," she snaps and turns to Angela with a softer expression. "Come on, Rabbit. I think Ali found you the perfect dress in my closet."
The girls leave, and I pull my phone out and use Google for my benefit so I'm prepared when they return.
"I think this is the one," Angela says, doing a little twirl.
The fancy skirt flares out. It's green, almost the same shade as her eyes. It's also strapless, something I'm not comfortable with.
"Ang—"
"Bella has a black sweater that I'll wear over it. It's thin, so I won't get hot and have to take it off."
Bella pops out of the room and quickly returns with the sweater. She helps Angela into it and gives me a stern look over her shoulder.
"I think it's absolutely lovely, Ang. Ben won't know what hit him."
My comment is well accepted. Thank you, Google!
After her outfit is figured out, we're onto another problem.
We've moved to my bathroom because we can all comfortably fit and it has a lot of mirrors.
I sit on the closed toilet and watch the hair dilemma unfold.
I can tell Bella is trying not to be annoyed.
I'm annoyed.
Do girls really put all of this thought and work into a first date?
I'm really glad I have Bella to help me with this because I'm lost and constantly saying the wrong thing.
