When I woke up I felt a weight on me shift. Why was I laying down? Where was I? The last thing I remember was that girl attacking us with her sword.
"This is..." I heard Kagome say as she moved off of me. "That's right. We were attacked by that girl..."
"Running away is useless..."
"And we fell into the well." she finished saying.
"But we've already checked the well many times!" I heard someone say above us.
"Is that...?" I asked her sitting up.
"But I saw Nee-chan and Amane-chan fall in!" we heard.
"You must have dreamt it."
"It's true, damn it."
"Ji... Ji-chan! Souta!" Kagome called up to them and I smiled when I saw them both standing above us. They lowered a ladder and we climbed out of the well. I walked out of the shrine and looked around. The Higurashi house. Skyscrapers. We were home. I numbly walked away from the three of them and went home in a daze. When I walked inside my house I looked around at the pictures I'd seen all my life. I found one of my grandmother, my mother, and my father.
"Amane?" I turned and saw my mother staring at me in shock.
"Mom?" I walked to her, crying.
"Amane, where have you been? It's been 3 days." she told me.
"I'm really back..." I cried in her arms for a moment before I felt her hug me.
That night I sat in my bathtub with my knees up to my chest, thinking. I was glad to be home, but something was wrong. I wanted to go back for some reason. Like something was drawing me back there. I had no reason to be there. No mission, like Kagome did.
"Amane?" my mother called from the other side of the door.
"Yes?"
"Come down stairs when your done. We'd like to talk to you." she told me before I heard her leave. I'd told them everything that had happened in the last few days before I decided to soak for a while. When I got done, I got out of the tub, dried off, put my pjs on and went downstairs.
"Amane. Come sit down." my father said.
"Yes, sir." I sat at the table with my family, silent.
"You said you went back in time." my father said. It wasn't a question, so I kept quiet. My family was very much like they were in the old days. The man of the house was the head of the household. His wife was his supporter, like a neck to a head. Everyone else pretty much fell in line behind the both of them, except my grandmother. She was the oldest there for the wisdom in her sons ear. "How?"
"I fell into the well at Kagome's house. A woman came up and grabbed her and she grabbed me." I told him.
"You should have come right back through the well." he told me.
"We tried to find out where we were, we didn't know we'd gone back in time." I told him and he gave me a look and I looked away.
"She has to go back." We all looked at my grandmother for a moment.
"Mom." my father said, but she ignored him.
"She is the reincarnation of my sister. Her soul is more at home there until it has found its peace." she said.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"My sister knew she would return to take care of those she loved. You were born into my family as a treasured granddaughter." she told me.
"You said she'd take care of those she loved. There the family, but who else?" I asked her and she smiled at me.
"I knew you'd pick up on that. she had a man in her life. She loved him with all her heart, and I believe he did as well. Above all else she wanted him to be happy." she explained.
"Who was he?" I asked her.
"I never knew his name. I just knew he was a demon, a very powerful one." she said and I looked away in thought.
"You think I should find him." I said, sighing.
"That is up to you." she told me.
"She won't be going back." my father said and I looked down at the table for a moment before looking back at him.
"I will be." my parents looked at me shocked while my grandmother smiled. "I'm going to go back there, and you can't stop me."
"Amane!" my mother said, raising her voice in shock.
"There's a part of me that needs to go back. Something's calling me back to that place." I told her. They all looked at me before looking at each other.
"Are you sure?" my mother asked me.
"Yes. Tomorrow, I'm going back to Kagome's and down the well."
