Calm. Just stay calm. This had been the mantra going through my head for the past few hours as Jaken was once again lecturing me on something I didn't care for. I don't even remember what started his lecture on! I clenched my fists and closed my eyes in annoyance at the damn toad's words.
"Not to mention that Sesshomaru-sama is of higher rank than a mere girl like you so you have no business walking alongside him like an equal." He told me. Oh yeah, that was it.
"There's no big difference between our ranks." I said calmly.
"There is a very big difference you stupid girl!" he shouted at me.
"Actually, my grandmother is third in line for the throne of my race." I told him and he gave me a look.
"Don't lie!" he told me.
"And how would you know if I was lying you stupid toad?" I asked him.
"By the way you speak!" he told me and I gave him a look.
"I'm from 500 years in the future. The way I speak is normal there." I told him and he started laughing at me. I growled at him in annoyance before I continued following Sesshomaru leaving the toad behind. The arm that I had connected to Sesshomaru had been deemed useless after one use and discarded. "Sesshomaru-sama! Wait for me!" he called making me laugh lightly as he ran after us. I sighed before thinking of my family. My mother and father wouldn't be born for quite some time and my Great-Aunt is already dead. But my grandparents would be in this era, young and possibly still mastering her own powers. I was pulled out of my thoughts by a rock passing my person and hitting Jaken who'd just caught up with us causing me to laugh lightly. I looked in front of me to see Sesshomaru still walking ahead of me. No one else was around so he must have thrown the rock, but why? I followed behind him once more and my thoughts filled my mind.
Third POV
Kagome snuck through the trees with her bike looking around for Inuyasha, making sure he didn't come after her. She jumped on her bike and made a beeline for the well.
"Just you fucking wait, Kagome!" Inuyasha called to her and she pedaled faster. "You won't get away, bitch!"
"I told you I'll come back soon!" Kagome told him before he jumped between her and the well.
"And what about the Shikon no Tama?!" he asked her.
"Move, will you!" she yelled at him. "I have exams tomorrow! I'm a second year, you know! I have High School entrance exams next year… If things go one like this, my attendance won't even be good enough to pass this year…" she explained but he wasn't listening. He just picked up a large boulder and held it above his head. "Umm… what are you doing?" she asked getting off the bike.
"If this Bone Gobbling well ain't here… you won't be able to return to that weird country of yours, will you?" Inuyasha asked her with a smirk on his face. "I'll smash it apart!"
"OSUWARI!" he immediately fell to the ground the boulder flying out of his hands and onto his back. "OSUWARI! OSUWARI! OSUWARI! OSUWARI! OWUWARI! OWUWARI! OSUWARI! I'll come back in three days so absolutely do not come after me!" she told him before jumping into the well.
Amane POV
My mind wandered from Sesshomaru's actions to my era. I wonder what me and Kagome being here is changing about there. Time travel wasn't exactly a well-known science in my time, but we always assumed that the butterfly affect was true. That was the reason for the movie and the poem it was short story it was created from. Obviously Inuyasha wasn't on the Sacred Tree in our time so maybe Kagome being here was supposed to happen, but what about me? I wouldn't have come here if I wasn't meant to be here, right? Or was it only because I was with Kagome? I'd have to try the well by myself if I really wanted answers.
"Sesshomaru." I called to the Youkai. He turned to signal he was listening to me. "I want to return to the village you found me in."
"Why should he listen to you stupid girl?!" Jaken yelled at me, but I focused on Sesshomaru. He turned and changed the direction he was walking in. I followed him with Jaken trailing behind us. "Where are we going, My Lord?"
We walked for a few more hours before we made it to the edge of the large clearing where the well was. He really brought me to the well! I walked up to it and looked down. Next to the well was a crater in a familiar shape. Kagome must have used her sit command on Inuyasha. Wonder why?
"I'll be back after I find out something." I told Sesshomaru.
"What do you think you'll find at the bottom of an old well?!" Jaken yelled at me.
"Once I find out I'll let you know toad." I told him before jumping on the side of the well. I jumped down the well and the bright lights filled my vision and I smiled. So I can travel in the well by myself to my own time, but can I travel back alone? I landed at the bottom of the well and looked up to see the roof to the well house. I smiled before climbing out of the well. I left the well house for my own home quickly to change and go to school. Since I was here I might as well go and attend my classes before going back.
"Morning!" I heard to my right and looked to see Kagome running to our friends with a smile on her face. I ran to join them seeing the shock on their faces.
"Kagome! Amane!" Kagome looked behind her to see me and I smiled at her.
"Is it really okay to come to school again?" Eri asked us.
"Eh?" Kagome asked confused. I knew our parents would have to come up with a reason for us to be absent all the time, I wonder what they told them.
"When we called your house, Kagome, to ask why you've been absent…" Eri started telling her.
"…We heard you strained your back…" Yuka said.
"And before that, you were in the hospital being tested for diabetes…" Eri finished telling her. "And you, Amane, were in a private hospital where they didn't allow visitors."
"Yeah, the doctors told me I have a reoccurring illness and they haven't found a cure yet. Today I was feeling better so I decided to come to class." I told them with a small smile on my face. At least my excuse seemed plausible unlike Kagome's.
"Higurashi!" we turned and watched Hojo-kun riding his bike towards us. "Are you feeling better?"
"It's Hojo-kun from Class B!" Eri said in shock. He stopped his bike right in front of Kagome and got off it.
"It must be really hard having gout at such a young age…" he told her and I had to hold in my laughter. "I… I know there isn't much I can do, but… here." The girls next to me gasped in shock at the gift he gave her. She opened the gift and I looked over her shoulder to see strange sandals.
"What…?" she asked confused.
"Health sandals!" he said getting onto his bike and riding away from us. "Wear them! Later!"
"Huh?" Kagome asked confused.
"Looks like you have an admirer." I told her she turned to me and opened her mouth to say something, but I just shock my head. "Later."
"Wait a sec, Kagome!" Yuka told Kagome crowding around the two of us.
"You're going out with Hojo-kun?" Eri asked her shocked.
"No way!" Kagome insisted. "I don't have time for that!"
"But, Hojo-kun is interested in Kagome…" Yuka said looking after Hojo-kun.
"What a shock…" Yuri said. The five of us made our way to class.
"But aren't you interested in him at all?!" Yuka asked Kagome.
"But…" Kagome started saying but was cut off by Eri.
"Or could it be that…"
"You already have a boyfriend?!" Yuka asked her and I started laughing imagining her and Inuyasha together.
"That's not it!" Kagome told her. "Amane quit laughing!"
"Really?! You really don't have one?!" Yuka asked her.
"But if you did, what would be your type?" Eri asked her.
"I dunno… someone who isn't violent… isn't selfish… isn't malicious.. isn't short tempered… who is kind, obedient…" she listed off and I smirked.
"Why don't we just get you a big dog then?" I asked her and she glared at me.
"Never!" she yelled at me as I laughed.
That night I stayed over at Kagome's working on homework together trying to catch up as much as we could before we had to leave for the Feudal Era.
"My body can't take this…" Kagome told me. "If I keep this up I really will get sick.
"How's hewel shard hunting?" I asked her.
"We've only found 2 fragments of the Shikon no Tama… Just how long do you think things will go on like this?" she asked me.
"Until we either find all the shards of the jewel or we die I suppose." I told her and she gave me a strange look. "I'm joking." I laughed. "I don't think those boys we travel with will let us die so easily."
"Speaking of traveling, where have you been?" she asked me.
"Sesshomaru saved me from dying and I've been traveling with him ever since. I asked him to bring me to the well so I could test if I could come back on my own and I can. My only question now is if I can go back alone." I told her and she sighed.
"Oh no!" she said making me leave my thoughts. "We've got to study! The math test is tomorrow. And it's my worst subject!"
"Here let me help you." I said pulling up my chair to her desk. Neither of us noticed when we fell asleep or the strange mask watching us.
For those of you who haven't reread Chapter 15 I redid it so I hope it answered a few questions.
