He was waiting in the common room, he was nervous and Thor, Tony and Clint joking and laughing at him for the way he was dressed and for how nervous he looked didn't really help.
Clint: "Hey Cap you've been dating this girl for years now don't you think you should be past the «nerves before a date stage»?"
Thor: "Come on man up it's not like she was going to leave you for another guy after all these years, or is she ?"
Steve: "Man up ?! What's that even supposed to mean ?"
Pepper: "Guys leave him alone don't you see how cute it is of him to have prepared a whole surprise date even after so many years... Not everyone does that."
Steve: "Thanks Pepper."
Clint and Thor kept joking but Steve tried his best to ignore them. Lexi walked in and took his hand.
Lexi: "Are you ok dad ?"
Steve: "Yes sweetheart, I just hope mommy will like the surprise. So I'm a little nervous."
Lexi: "Well you've spent a lot of time out preparing it so I'm sure she will like it."
Steve: "Thanks sweetie."
Meanwhile, upstairs Wanda just finished Nat's makeup. As she headed downstairs, Charlie entered the room.
Charlie: "Wow mom you look amazing !"
Nat: "Thank you baby. Do you think dad will like it ?"
Charlie: "He will love it mom, I'm sure."
Natasha took a deep breath and walked out of the room holding her son's hand. He helped her down the stairs and then ran a little forward so he could warn everyone that Nat was coming.
When he heard that, Steve's heart started beating even faster than it already was. And when Nat came into the common room, everyone was speechless.
Steve: "Wow, darling you look incredible."
Nat: "You cleaned up pretty nice as well honey."
Steve: "Shall we ?"
He gave his arm to Nat and she grabbed it smiling. Then, after telling the kids to be nice while they were gone, they got out of the building.
