It was a couple of hours after Alex arrived at the hospital, and he was still in the emergency room. Everyone was sitting in the lobby, anxiously awaiting any news about Alex's condition. One of the doctors then came into the lobby and walked up to Jaden and Alexis.

Alexis: Is our son going to be okay?

Doctor: Well, he had a few bad cuts on his stomach, but we've patched him up good as new, and he should make a full recovery.

Alexis: Thank goodness. I was so worried about him.

Doctor: He'll be okay, but he'll have to stay here for a day or two.

Jaden: When can we see him?

Doctor: You can see him right now. He said he wanted to see you as well Mr. Fudo.

Luna: Can I come and see him as well?

Doctor: Alright..

He lead them through the hospital to Alex's room. Once the door opened, they saw Alex laying on a hospital bed and Alexis ran up to him.

Alexis: Are you okay Alex? Does it hurt anywhere?

Alex: I'm okay mom. I'm sorry I scared everyone.

Jaden: You almost gave me and your mother a heart attack. But we're just glad you're okay.

Alex looked down, clearly depressed.

Alexis: Hey, what's wrong?

Alex: I couldn't win the duel. In the end, I was barely able to force a tie. I failed.

Jaden: You didn't fail. You're still here and that's what matters.

Yusei: And thanks to your duel, we have information on the Dark Signers that we didn't have before. You did great Alex.

Alex: Thanks everyone. I guess I'm gonna have to sit out for a while though.

Yusei: Don't worry, we can handle them.

Luna: I was so worried about you Alex.

Alex blushed a bit at her comment, and while it went unnoticed by most of the people around him, his parents did notice it. They gave a silent nod to each other and Alexis spoke up.

Alexis: Luna, why don't you stay with Alex while the rest of us leave and talk about what's happened?

Luna: S-sure.

Alexis bent down and kissed Alex on the forehead, telling him they'd come visit him tomorrow. Yusei, Alexis, and Jaden then left the room, leaving Alex and Luna by themselves. After a few moments of silence, Alex decided to say something.

Alex: So how did you know I was in danger?

Luna: My mark. It was like it was speaking to me, and I knew you were in trouble.

Alex: How did you know I would be here?

Luna: Goodwin called all the Signers and your parents when he heard what happened.

Alex: I see.

Luna: I was so worried something had happened to you.

Alex noted Luna's behavior, and his mind began to put the pieces together, and it gave quite the image.

Alex: Luna, can I ask you something?

Luna: What is it?

Alex: Do you like me?

Luna: What? What gave you that idea?

She tried to hide it, but she was practically sweating bullets.

Alex: Well, that confirms that. Luna, it's okay if you do. The truth is, I like you, a lot.

Luna: Do you really mean that?

Alex: I do. You were the first real friend I've had in a long time, and you're always so nice to me. You make me happy, and you make me feel good about myself when I'm down. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm in love with you.

Luna: Alex, I love you too.

Alex: Really?

Luna: Yes. You're smart, funny, kind, and you care about others. You're one of the best people I ever met, and I'm so glad we became friends.

Alex: So does this mean we're, you know?

Luna: I'd like that. And don't worry, I don't mind keeping this between us for now.

Alex: Luna, there's something I need to talk about.

Luna: What is it?

Alex: Luna, I'm terrified.

Luna: Of what?

Alex: The Dark Signers. I barely managed to tie against Kalin, what happens if I lose the next time I duel them?

Luna: Hey, don't say that. I'm sure you'll win the next time you face them.

Alex: But what if I don't? What if I lose and end up joining them? I couldn't live with myself if I-

He would've continued, except Luna cut him off. But it wasn't what she said that stopped him, it was what she did. She wrapped her arms around him and began running her hand up and down his back, trying to calm him down.

Luna: I know you're scared, I am too. But no matter what happens, we'll face it together, we all will. You're not alone Alex. You have me, Leo, Yusei, Jack, and Akiza right beside you.

Alex: Thanks Luna. I'm so happy I got to meet you and everyone else.

Luna: And we're all glad we got to meet you.

Alex then realized how tired he was.

Alex: Will you come and see me tomorrow?

Luna: I promise. You should go to sleep, the doctor said you'll need your rest.

Alex: Okay. Be careful.

Once Luna was sure he was asleep, she gave him a small kiss on his forehead and left his room, turning the light off behind her.

Jaden: So what did he say?

She jumped a bit, not noticing Jaden until he spoke.

Jaden: Sorry, didn't mean to scare you.

Luna: It's okay. He said he's afraid of facing the Dark Signers again.

Jaden: And what did you tell him?

Luna: That I'd be right there to support him.

Jaden: You really care about him don't you?

Luna: Of course. He's my best friend.

Jaden: Are you sure he's not something more to you?

Luna: W-what do you mean?

Yubel: He knows you and Alex like each other Luna.

Luna: Was she spying on us?

Jaden: No. Alexis and I could tell you two cared about each other as more than just friends, which is why we had Yusei leave the room with us so you two could be alone.

Luna: I see.

Jaden: Hey, you don't have to worry. Alexis and I support your relationship with Alex entirely. You two really care about each other, and neither I nor Alexis is going to get in your way.

Luna breathed a sigh of relief.

Jaden: Come on, Alexis and I will give you and Leo a lift home.

Luna: Alright.

They met up with Yusei in the lobby.

Jaden: Yusei, why don't you stay with us tonight?

Yusei: I'd hate to impose.

Alexis: It's no trouble. Besides, after everything you've done for us, this is the least we can do to thank you

Yusei: Alright, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask for a ride. I had to leave my duel runner in the Satellite.

Alexis: Not a problem, you can ride with us.

Yusei got into Jaden's and Alexis' car with Leo and Luna. That night, Yusei slept in the guest room of Jaden's home. He was comfortable and slept well. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for Alex. He was reliving his duel with Kalin in his dreams, and his powers were surging with his fear. He knocked out the power in half the hospital before the staff finally managed to wake him up.

One of the nurses called his parents, and one of the staff members, who was a member of the Arcadia Movement, called Sayer. They all rushed over to the hospital to check on Alex, with Jaden and Alexis arriving first. They ran to Alex's room and found him shaking while one of the nurses tried to calm him down. Alexis ran up to him and pulled him into her arms.

Alexis: It's okay sweetie, I'm right here.

A few minutes later, Alex calmed down enough to speak.

Alexis: What happened?

Alex: I keep having nightmares about my duel with the Dark Signer. I had never been so scared in my life as when he-

Alexis: Shh, it's okay. You're safe, I promise. I'll never let them hurt you again.

?: Mr. and Mrs. Yuki, it's a pleasure to meet you both.

They all turned to face the person who just spoke and saw Sayer standing next to the door with Akiza standing next to him.

Jaden: Who are you?

Sayer: My name is Sayer, and I am the head of the Arcadia Movement. We help psychic people learn to control their powers. One of my employees happens to work here as a side job, and thought it would be a good idea to call me after Alex's powers ran wild. If I were to guess, they surged in response to a nightmare of some sort?

Jaden: That's right, but how did you know?

Sayer: It's quite common for someone who have psychic abilities to lose control of them in response to strong emotions, such as anger or fear. I could help your son learn to control his power.

Jaden: And what would you be asking in return?

Sayer: Nothing at all. I simply want to help him learn to control his powers and use them correctly. However, he will have to stay at the Arcadia Movement for a while. But don't worry, we have a medical staff with physicians more capable than the staff here, as well as the best security in the city. Your son will be well taken care of and comfortable, and will be able to leave the moment he so desires.

Jaden thought this over for a second before turning to Alex.

Jaden: It might be better for Alex to go with him. He may be able to help in ways we can't, and if the security is as good as he says it is, Alex will surely be safe from the Dark Signers there. Alex, I'll leave the choice up to you, but I think it might be a good idea for you to go with him.

Alex thought it over for a minute before answering.

Alex: Okay, if there's a chance it'll help, I'll go with him.

Sayer: A wise decision. I promise you that we will do everything we can to help.

Alexis: So when does he leave?

Sayer: We can bring him to our headquarters tonight, and you could accompany him there if you wish.

Alexis: Alex, do you think you're ready to move?

Alex: I think so.

The hospital staff brought him the clothes he was wearing when he arrived and he changed into them before walking out with his parents.

Sayer: Just follow my car and I'll lead you there.

They followed him to the Arcadia Movement and got out of their car.

Sayer: Follow me.

They did as he said and followed him inside. As they were walking, they saw numerous people in uniforms in the hallway.

Alex: All these people are psychics?

Sayer: That's right. And they've all come here to learn to control their abilities.

Jaden: Sayer, there's something we need to tell you.

Sayer: And what would that be?

Jaden: Alex isn't exactly a psychic. His power comes from a different source.

Sayer: The Gentle Darkness, correct?

Jaden: Yes, but how did you know?

Sayer: I've done my research. I noticed his deck and powers during the Fortune Cup and decided to do a little digging.

Jaden: So then you know this needs to stay between us.

Sayer: Of course. But, even though his power stems from a different source, it works similarly enough to the powers of the people here that I should be able to help him.

Alexis: So where will Alex be staying?

Sayer: He can stay with Akiza, if that's alright with you.

Akiza: I don't mind. It would be nice to have some company.

Alex: I don't mind.

Sayer: Then I guess that's settled.

They arrived at an elevator and went up to the floor where Alex would stay with Akiza. The elevator stopped and the door opened up. They all exited and walked down the hall until they reached Akiza's room. It was actually more akin to an apartment. There was a living room, a small kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and two bedrooms.

Alexis: Well, you weren't kidding when you said he would be comfortable.

Sayer: We try to make the place feel like a home for the people who stay here.

Jaden: Are you sure you'll be okay here Alex?

Alex: Yeah. If this will help me control my powers, I'm all for it.

Jaden: Alright, I trust you.

Alex hugged his parents goodbye and Sayer showed them out.

Akiza: Come on Alex, you must be tired.

She led Alex to his room and helped him get ready for the night.

Akiza: Goodnight Alex.

Alex: Goodnight Akiza. Thank you for helping me, and I'm sorry about your past. I know what it feels like for people to treat you badly because you're different. But for what it's worth, I think you're a great person.

Akiza: Thank you Alex. Sweet dreams.

She turned out the light and quietly closed the door behind her. That's when someone knocked on the door of Akiza's room. She opened the door and found Sayer on the other side.

Sayer: Is Alex asleep?

Akiza: Yes, I just put him to bed.

Sayer: Good. His parents gave me these before they left.

He held out Alex's duel disk and one of his decks.

Akiza: I'll give them to him in the morning.

Sayer: Good. After he eats in the morning, bring him to me so I can test his powers.

Akiza: Alright. By the way, there's something I've been wanting to ask you.

Sayer: What is it?

Akiza: Not that I mind, but why did you want Alex to stay with me?

Sayer: Simple, you and he have a lot in common, and I think it would be beneficial for you both.

Akiza: I see.

Sayer: Well, good night Akiza.

Akiza: Good night Sayer.

Hey everyone. So Alex is fine and decided to go to the Arcadia Movement for help controlling his powers. And for everyone who's waiting for Sayer to show his true colors, well, Uno Reverse Card. He already is. When I was writing this chapter, I thought it would be fun to change Sayer's personality and make him a good person. This will affect things a bit down the road, but a lot will still be the same as in the 5ds anime. But just know that in this series, Sayer is actually a good person.
