Everyone was at Goodwin's mansion and Yusei was still coming to grips with the fact that Kalin was a Dark Signer, but he knew that he had to beat him for the sake of his friends and everyone he cared about. Meanwhile Alex was still thinking about what Goodwin said.
Yubel: Alex, I know you want revenge on the Dark Signers, but you need to keep a level head.
Alex: I know Yubel. But it's more than just that. I just don't wanna lose anyone else.
Luna came into the room and saw him standing outside.
Luna: Alex?
Akiza: I wouldn't bother him right now.
Luna turned to the side and saw Akiza sitting on the couch.
Luna: Has he been out there all morning?
Akiza: Yeah. He told me he needs some time to himself to think. He must still be torn up about what he did when he was merged with Nightshroud.
Luna: I can't imagine how he must feel right now.
Akiza: So are you having second thoughts about all this?
Luna: No way! I'm here to help you guys, and I'm gonna give it my all!
Akiza: Her and Alex are so young to be caught up in all this.
She pulled herself from her thoughts when she saw Alex walk back in.
Luna: Hey Alex, wanna have a practice duel?
Alex: Maybe later, although I wouldn't mind grabbing a bite to eat with you.
Luna: I already ate, but I'll go with you.
They arrived and found Leo loading up a plate with food.
Luna: Leo! We just ate an hour ago!
Leo: Relax will ya?
Alex: Leo, you need to take this seriously. It'll take everything we've got to face the Dark Signers.
Leo: Good luck with that you two, sounds like it'll be intense.
Luna: So while we're out facing the forces of darkness, you're going to sit around here and do nothing?!
Leo: Pretty much.
Alex: I see what's really going on here Leo. You're afraid.
Leo: I'm not afraid.
Alex: Then what is it?
Luna: I'm not a Signer, and I don't have any special powers like Alex. I'd just get in your way.
Luna: Leo.
Alex put his hand on her shoulder.
Alex: Luna, I need you to trust me on this. Just know that what I'm about to do is for Leo's own good.
Luna: Okay.
Alex walked up behind Leo and put his hand on his shoulder. Leo turned around to face him only to be met with a punch to his face. He fell onto the floor and turned to face Alex.
Leo: What'd you punch me for?!
Alex: Someone needs to knock some sense into you.
Leo: There's nothing wrong with me.
Leo stood up, leaning on the table next to him.
Alex: Don't lie to me.
He drove his fist into Leo's stomach, knocking him back onto the floor.
Alex: Look at yourself Leo! You look like some kid who got separated from his parents at the mall. I'm gonna tell you something Leo, I respected you.
Leo turned around to face Alex, unsure he'd heard him correctly.
Alex: You know why I respected you Leo? Because you had courage and resolve. You helped bring me back after Nightshroud took control of me. You, a boy with no powers or special abilities, risked everything to save his friend and protect his sister from one of the greatest evils ever known, and yet here you are with your tail between your legs. What happened to the boy who was willing to give up everything to help the people he cared about?
Leo: But I'm not good for anything.
Alex grabbed Leo by his shirt and lifted him to his feet.
Alex: Do you hear yourself? You dueled against one of the most powerful forces of darkness that's ever existed to save your friend and keep your sister safe, and here you are calling yourself worthless?! What happened to the boy I respected and called my friend?
Leo looked Alex in the face, and the truth of Alex's words hit him like a ton of bricks.
Alex: We need you Leo. Your sister needs you. Even if you think you're worthless, you're her hero, and she needs you with her in the fight to come, if for nothing else than to just know you're there for her!
Leo: Hey Alex?
Alex: What?
Leo: Thanks. And just so you know, the words hit even harder than your punches.
Alex let go of his shirt.
Alex: Sorry I had to lay you out like that. I didn't think you'd listen if I didn't smack some sense into you first.
Leo: Thanks. You're right, I may not have powers like the rest of you, but I can still help, even if it's just me cheering you guys on.
Alex: Don't doubt yourself Leo. You're stronger than you realize.
Leo: Thanks. I'll be with you guys all the way.
Alex: That's the Leo I know.
Having helped Leo get his confidence back, Alex got himself something to eat. After he was done, they met up with everyone else.
Akiza: You doing better?
Alex: Yep. I'm ready to bring the Dark Signers down. I'm not gonna let them hurt anyone anymore.
Jack: You've got that right. They're going down.
Everyone proceeded to make adjustments to their decks to take on the Dark Signers.
Alex: Supreme Neos. So this is the ultimate Evil Hero. I need your help Neos. I need all of you.
The Evil Heroes then appeared in front of Alex in spirit form.
Neos: We'll always be here when you need us Alex. Now and forever.
Inferno Wing: That's right. The Dark Signers are going down!
Alex: Thanks you guys. I can't do this without all of you.
Yubel: And don't think I'm sitting out Alex. I promised Jaden that I'd always protect you, and I intend on keeping my word.
Alex: Thanks Yubel. With all of you by my side, I know I can do this.
Neos: Just remember that we're always here when you need us.
Alex walked down the hallway looking for Atticus, finding him in the dining room.
Alex: Perfect.
Atticus: Hey Alex, you ready for this?
Alex: Yeah. I think you dropped something.
Atticus: Really?
While he bent down to check, Alex quickly brought out a small vial and dumped its contents into his uncle's drink.
Alex: I hope this works.
Atticus: There was nothing there bud.
Alex: Oh, my bad.
Atticus: It's alright.
He brought his cup to his mouth and took a drink. He then let out a big yawn and rubbed his eyes.
Alex: Feeling tired?
Atticus: Yeah, I don't know why I'm so tired all of a sudden.
Alex: Maybe you should get some rest before we leave.
Atticus: Good idea, come get me when we're ready to go.
Yubel: Alex, what did you do to Atticus?
Alex: Well...
Flashback
Alex: Goodwin, I want to ask you for a favor.
Goodwin: What is it Alex?
Alex: I want to make sure my uncle stays here. I don't wanna put him in danger.
Goodwin: I see. Give me a moment please.
He walked into the adjacent room before coming back a minute later with a small vial filled with a clear liquid.
Goodwin: Here.
Alex: What's this for?
Goodwin: Well, with the stress of my work, I have a difficult time sleeping. That liquid is a powerful sleeping agent. If you can get your uncle to drink it, he should be asleep long enough for you to get to the Satellite without him.
Alex: And you're sure it's safe?
Goodwin: Positive. Just pour some in his drink and he'll be asleep in five minutes flat and won't awaken for several hours.
Alex: Thank you.
Goodwin: Glad I could help. I suggest you carry your plan out soon. You'll be departing before too long.
Alex: Okay.
End of Flashback
Yubel: I can't believe you did that. Atticus is going to be livid when he finds out.
Alex: I know, but I just don't wanna lose anyone else.
Yubel: It's okay. I'm sure he'll forgive you.
Alex: I hope so.
Alex met up with everyone else to wait for Goodwin. Mina arrived and escorted them all to Sector Security.
Mina: You all need to see this.
She uploaded a video feed of the Satellite to the monitor. All the streets were empty, and there was a black dome over the Satellite.
Alex: They've taken everyone in Satellite.
Yusei: Mina, can we fly in?
Mina: I think so, but it's dangerous. Our scans won't penetrate it, and we could lose the video feed any moment now.
True to her word, the monitors started going out one by one until they all showed static.
Alex: I'm going. I won't stand by while the Dark Signers continue to put innocent people in danger.
Mina: Of course. I'll call the helicopter, but you all need to be careful, we have no idea what's waiting for you over there.
They all headed up to the roof and were met by Goodwin.
Luna: Well, this is it.
Mina: Jack, can I ask you a question?
Jack: I'd prefer if you didn't.
Mina: We all know the Dark Signers love revenge and anger.
Jack: You're point being? That they can use that against me? Carly's out there somewhere, and I'm not gonna stop until I get her back, even if I have to beat every Dark Signer myself.
Alex: Misty is mine.
Everyone turned to face him.
Alex: You can duel whoever else you want Jack, but Misty is my opponent. She took my parents from me, and I won't let anyone get in my way of defeating her myself.
Goodwin: I understand your anger Alex, but you need to maintain your focus. You must find the original Ener-D reactor in the Satellite.
Akiza: The original what?
Leo: What does it do?
Goodwin: It's the source of the negative energy that caused this dark smoke to appear.
Luna: So what do we do when we find it?
Goodwin: Once you find it, you must activate it in reverse. With any luck, it will release a burst of positive energy that will reseal the army of shadows.
A helicopter then began to approach them.
Goodwin: I've arranged for special transportation to the Satellite, and I believe you already know the pilot.
The pilot exited the craft and was revealed to be Officer Trudge.
Trudge: We're fueled up and ready to go sir.
Goodwin: Excellent.
Yusei: Hope you packed some peanuts.
Trudge: Wait, I'm supposed to fly you? Goodwin what is it with you and this guy?! First you want him in jail, then you want him out, and now you're giving him a first class ride! Well you can forget it!
Alex: We don't have time for this!
Everyone stared at him, surprised by his sudden outburst.
Alex: This is more important than your personal vendetta against Yusei. You claim to be an officer of the law who protects the people of New Domino City. Well, the safety of everyone in the city, no to mention the entire world, depends on Yusei and the rest of us getting to the Satellite, so you can either keep acting like a child or do your job.
Trudge: You, I...
Yusei: Goodwin, before we do this, you have to promise me something.
Goodwin: What is it?
Yusei: If we succeed and save the world, you have to finish the bridge between the Satellite and the city. People have a right to be free, and I won't go unless you agree.
Goodwin: Yusei, it may not even be possible to do that.
Yusei: And why is that?
Goodwin: For years, the people of the Satellite and the city lived far apart. It's a way of life everyone accepts. Change, especially one so great, takes time.
Yusei: Then I guess you're going to have to find a sixth signer, because unless you promise to do it, you're one deck short.
Goodwin: Very well, I'll build the bridge. You have my word.
Trudge: Let's get the lead out. There's no time to waste.
They all boarded the helicopter and departed for the Satellite.
Trudge: You've got some well-wishers on the starboard side.
They looked out the window and saw Dexter, Yanagi, and Tanner standing at the docks.
Dexter: Good luck you guys!
Yanagi: We're counting on all of you!
Tanner: We know you can do it!
Alex: Here I come Misty. And no one's going to stop me.
