The week following graduation is just as exciting.
The girls spend a few days saying their goodbyes to friends and enjoying the parties.
My Eternal Life application is officially in processing, and Bella and I will be going in to have our bond tested in a couple weeks.
Angela has already started packing for her trip with Ben. They leave the day after Alice's and her birthday. She's nervous to be away from us but excited to go off on her own for the first time. I know Ben will take good care of her and that she'll have the time of her life.
Bella has been planning a birthday slash going away party for them with the help of Rosalie and my mom. I've given them full rein to do whatever they want, as long as I don't have to see receipts.
Alice's piercing scream shakes the whole house the morning a letter arrives from V.C. addressed to her. Her application for Eternal Life has been accepted and is on hold until she turns eighteen. She won't be able to have her bond with Jasper tested until she's of age, so the letter is unexpected.
"My application has been flagged because they think I might possess a gift!" she squeals, dancing around the room, waving the papers in everyone's faces.
Bella manages to get it out of her hands without ripping it in half and looks it over. "I can't believe Jane hasn't said anything."
"What does it mean?" I ask, not understanding the words.
"Alice is showing promises of precognition, and they want to pull her in for additional tests now." Bella huffs. "Alec hasn't said anything either, and he's the one who schedules that. Alice has always been intuitive, but something she said in her application caught their attention."
Alice pokes her tongue out at Angela. "I told you I was special."
"Oh, Lord. We're never going to hear the end of this." Angela groans. "I'm so glad I won't be around to listen to her drone on and on about this."
"If I'm psychic, will they let me get changed sooner?"
"I don't know Cleo, do you?" Angela jokes.
"It doesn't work like that, Ali." Bella laughs and hands her back the letter. "But it would definitely help you get approved if you show promise. I'll call Jane and see if she and Alec can come over to explain it to you better."
