Alex slowly opened his eyes and saw everyone staring down at him.

Alex: What happened? And why are you all staring at me?

Luna: You're okay!

She threw her arms around him and gave him an even tighter squeeze than she did Leo during their duel with Devack.

Alex: Luna, loosen up.

Luna: Sorry.

Alex: How long was I out for?

Crow: Over an hour.

Suddenly Alex felt a pulse in his chest, and he doubled over.

Luna: Alex, what's wrong?

Alex was panting hard and he looked pained. When he recovered, he looked up at all of them.

Alex: Jack just defeated a Dark Signer.

Yusei: Are you sure?

Alex: Positive. I can't explain it, but I could feel it when she lost.

Luna: If that's the case, then that means that Misty is the last of them.

Alex: I have to help Akiza.

He tried to get to his feet but nearly fell back onto the floor. Fortunately, Yusei managed to catch him before he fell.

Yusei: Slow down Alex. You're in no condition to be helping anybody.

Alex: Sorry Yusei, but I'm not going to lose anyone else.

He dissolved into shadows and disappeared.

Yusei: What?!

Luna: He must've used his shadow teleportation.

Yusei: Come on, we've got to get to the last control tower. If Alex tries to duel in the shape he's in, there's a good chance he'll lose.

Crow: Not to mention it's almost sundown. If Akiza doesn't seal the control tower before then, the gates of the Netherworld will open.

Meanwhile, Akiza and Mina had arrived at the site of the control tower, which was an abandoned theme park.

Akiza: Let's look for her.

She and Mina split up to cover more ground.

Akiza: Where are you Misty?

?: Akiza!

She turned to where the voice came from and couldn't believe who it was.

Akiza: Alex?

Alex: I'm glad I found you before Misty did.

Once he was in front of her, he stumbled, but she managed to catch him.

Akiza: Careful. You definitely look like you've seen better days.

Alex: You should've seen Roman once I beat him.

Akiza: How did you get here so quickly?

Alex: My shadow teleportation.

Akiza: Well, stick close to me. Misty is around here somewhere, and I don't want you to get hurt or absorbed by her immortal.

Alex: Right.

He and Akiza continued to look for Misty. They passed what was left of the park's hall of mirrors when the door opened. They looked inside and saw Misty's reflection in the mirrors.

Akiza: Hey!

She and Alex ran after her, but once they entered, the door shut behind them, trapping them inside.

Misty: Well, I wasn't expecting you to be here Alex. I take it Roman lost his duel?

Alex: Yeah, and I'm here to settle the score with you after what you did to my parents.

Misty: Very well then. I'll face you both at once.

Meanwhile, Yusei and the others had arrived at the amusement park and split up to look for Alex and Akiza.

Yusei: Alex, Akiza, Mina! Where are you guys?

Suddenly, an old sign broke free and started to fall towards him.

?: Look out!

Yusei noticed the sign and avoided it in time.

?: Hey, are you alright?

Yusei: I am thanks to your heads up. Who are you?

Sayer: That's right, we never met. I'm Sayer.

Yusei: Wait, I thought you were beaten by a Dark Signer.

Sayer: I was, but fortunately I made it out of the building before it collapsed, but I wasn't totally unscathed.

He moved his hair to the side, revealing a large burn scar on his face.

Yusei: So what are you doing here?

Sayer: I came to make sure Akiza is okay, as well as to tell Misty the truth.

Yusei: The truth about what?

Sayer: The truth about her brother's disappearance.

Back at the hall of mirrors, the duel was about to start.

Misty: Seeing as there are two of you, I'll have 8000 life points while you both have 4000 a piece, deal?

Alex & Akiza: Fine.

Misty: You know Akiza, I'm glad about your little bond you've developed with Alex. Now I can make you suffer through the same pain I did.

All: Let's duel!

Misty: 8000 LP

Akiza: 4000 LP

Alex: 4000 LP

Misty: I'll take the first move. I play the Mirror Labyrinth field spell. With that activated, I think it's time to reminisce. Let's start by opening the first chapter to my sad story. I play the continuous spell Sad Story – Sorrowful Memories.

The field changed showing Akiza and Alex one of her memories.

?: Hey, you in here sis?

Alex and Akiza turned to face the one who spoke and saw a boy running up to Misty.

?: I'm back for the summer.

Past Misty: Toby.

Toby: I got you a birthday present.

Past Misty: Thanks, but my birthday was 3 months ago, you know that.

Toby: Yeah, but I was away at school, so better late than never right?

He reached into his pocket before pulling out a locket, handing it to her.

Past Misty: It's beautiful. I'll put a picture of you in it and wear it everywhere I go.

Toby: Oh, I almost forgot. I was down by the pier and I saw someone dueling and they were just like me.

Past Misty: You mean someone with your powers?

Toby: She was really amazing. Her name was Akiza and she's with this really cool group called the Arcadia Movement.

Past Misty: I'm not liking the sound of this Toby.

Toby: Why not? Why shouldn't I join with people like me? People who'd understand and support me, as opposed to mom and dad who just sent me away?

Akiza: So that's her little brother?

Misty: Due to the effect of my Sorrowful Memories, if any of us draw a monster card during our draw phases, we have to return that card to our decks.

Alex: So I'm guessing the monsters already in our hands stay where they are?

Misty: You are correct, and since I'm summoning Reptilianne Servant, yours are most definitely staying there.

Level 1/Dark/Reptile

ATK & DEF 100

Misty: As long as this monster is out, none of us can summon a monster. Are you feeling helpless yet? Well, welcome to my world. I end my turn.

Akiza: Glad to be here. I draw.

She looked at the card she drew and saw it was her Evil Thorn.

Misty: Due to the effect of my spell card, the monster you've just drawn is returned to your deck.

Akiza simply said nothing and returned her card to her deck.

Akiza: I place one card face-down and end my turn.

Alex: It's my turn, I draw. It's a trap card. As long as that monster is out, I can't summon anything. I'll just have to wait until I draw card that can destroy it. I place a card face-down and end my turn.

Misty: Follow me deeper into the maze.

Her reflection moved across the mirrors, her cards following behind her. Alex and Akiza just followed her deeper into the maze.

Misty: Don't get lost you two.

Alex: She's trying to run out our time. If I wasn't so out of it, I could just knock the mirrors down.

Misty came to a stop and began her turn.

Misty: I draw. And I play the spell card Sad Story – Unwavering Truth.

The field changed as Alex and Akiza were shown another memory.

Akiza: Wait, this is the Arcadia Movement.

She and Alex looked up and saw her walking through one of the halls before Toby ran up to her.

Toby: Miss Akiza! Hi. My name is Toby and I saw you duel the other day.

Past Akiza: And?

Toby: And I sorta spoke to you afterwards and you mentioned the Arcadia Movement.

Past Akiza: So you're here to see what we're all about. Go talk to Sayer, he deals with all the newbies.

Akiza: I wasn't myself back then, I didn't mean to be harsh to him.

Misty: That's not why I'm angry.

Akiza: Then why?

Misty: In due time, but first, with Unwavering Truth in play, if any of us draw a spell card during the draw phase, then it's back to the deck and reshuffle time. So if you were planning on using spells, too bad.

Akiza: I think I see where this is going.

Misty: Now Reptilianne Servant, attack Alex directly!

Her monster leapt out of the mirror and sent a gust of wind at Alex, shattering some of the mirrors and spreading broken glass on the floor.

Alex: 3900 LP

Akiza: Alex!

Alex: I'm okay.

Misty: Due to the effect of my Mirror Labyrinth field spell, my Reptilianne Servant can attack twice in a round, so strike Alex again!

Alex: 3800 LP

Alex fell to one knee, holding his hand against his chest as he panted heavily.

Akiza: Leave him alone Misty!

Misty: Not a chance Akiza. Now you understand the same pain I endured. And once I'm done with Alex, it's your turn.

Alex: No way. I won't let you hurt Akiza. Even if I have to take every one of your attacks myself.

Misty: How touching. I place one card face-down and end my turn.

Akiza: Alex is already in rough shape. I can't let this duel drag on much longer, but with Reptilianne Servant out, I can't summon any monsters. I've got to find a way to get that snake off the field. It's my move. I draw. And I place one card face-down and end my turn.

Misty: Looks like someone drew a trap card. Lucky for you.

Alex: My move... I draw. I drew a spell, so it goes back into my deck. I end my turn.

Misty: Some turn that was. I draw. I have to warn you, the next part is pretty emotional. You see, every story needs a gut-wrenching climax, full of heartbreak and loss, so I play the Sad Story – Atrocious Day spell card. Remember when you lost control and tore up downtown Domino? Toby went to see you duel that day, and I never saw him again.

Akiza: So you think that? There were no casualties that day! The investigators said,

Misty: Oh right, the investigation that was funded by Sayer and the Arcadia Movement. I'm sure there wasn't any cover up there.

Akiza: There's no way.

Misty: Accept it along with the fact that my Sad Story spell combo prevent us from drawing any new cards. Like someone who's lost someone they care about and can't find the strength to move forward without them. All we have now is what's in our hands so show me Black Rose, what are you holding in your hand?

Alex: Don't listen Akiza!

Akiza snapped out of her confusion and looked at him.

Alex: Remember what you told me when I dueled Misty? How even though I had done bad things in my past I'm still a good person? Well so are you. You didn't do anything to Toby. And even if you did, you didn't do it willingly. The truth is, Misty was looking for someone to blame, and you were the first person she found.

Akiza: Alex,

Alex: And in any case, what you did to me and what you're doing to Akiza is no different than you're accusing her of Misty.

Misty: Be quiet!

Akiza: Thank you Alex. You truly are family to me. I play the trap Illusion Destruction, with it, your Servant is changed into face-down defense mode.

Suddenly Misty's monster exploded.

Misty: When Reptilianne Servant is targeted by a spell or trap it's destroyed.

Alex: Looks like your ability to determine our fates is broken.

Misty: We'll see about that. I play the Sorrowful Chain trap card, and with it, I can summon my Dragon Queen of Tragic Endings from my deck.

Level 6/Dark/Dragon

ATK 1900/DEF 2600

Alex: That's not good.

Misty: And it's about to get worse for you. Dragon Queen of Tragic Endings, attack Alex directly with Tragedy Stream!

Her monster unleashed a powerful blast on Alex, sending him flying.

Akiza: Alex!

Alex: 1900 LP

Akiza ran over to Alex, but he wasn't moving, and his eyes were closed.

Akiza: Alex, please wake up!

But no matter how loud she shouted, he didn't move. She got up slowly with her back to Misty.

Misty: Feeling helpless that you can't save your little brother? Well now you know exactly how I felt.

Akiza: You know Misty, at first I felt sorry for you, but after this, I don't have an ounce of pity left for you.

Misty: What? Do you think I care how you feel about me?

Akiza's powers then ran wild, and the limiter clip in her hair fell out and onto the ground. Meanwhile in Alex's subconscious, he was coming to, in a sense.

Alex: Ow, that hurt.

?: Yeah, she's really doing a number on you out there.

Alex turned to the side and saw Alastor standing there.

Alex: Long time no see.

Alastor: Yeah, well, it looks like you could use my help out there.

Alex: I'm doing just fine.

He tried to get but wound up falling flat on his back.

Alastor: I can tell. Look, I care about Akiza too. I know we're pretty different from each other, but we have a lot in common, including our current goal.

Alex: How do I know you're not just trying to trick me into giving up control?

Alastor: Well right now, I think you're just going to have to trust me.

Alex: Alright, I trust you.

In the physical world, darkness wrapped around Alex's body, creating a large black sphere. When it faded, Alex was standing up and wearing his armor from the Fortune Cup.

Akiza: Alex?

Alastor: Not exactly. It's nice to see you again Akiza.

Misty: So you're both finally showing your true colors. In any case, due to Dragon Queen's special ability, since she dealt you damage, you have to discard 1 card from your hand while I draw 1 card from my deck, and since it's not the draw phase, my spells have no effect, meaning I get to keep it.

Alastor picked a card from his hand and sent it to the graveyard.

Misty: I end my turn.

Akiza: I draw, not that matters since I have to send it back to the deck, but not that I really care. I summon Witch of the Black Rose from my hand in attack mode.

Level 4/Dark/Spellcaster

ATK 1700/DEF 1200

Akiza: And due to her special ability, I can draw one card from my deck, but if it's not a monster card, then my Witch is destroyed.

Misty: You must be desperate to use an effect like that.

Alastor: It's not desperation if I have this, the Selected Future trap card. With it, I can declare one card name, and if it's in Akiza's deck, she can place it on top, and I choose Rose Fairy.

Akiza's deck shuffled and the declared card moved to the top.

Akiza: And what do you know, I did draw a monster card.

Alastor: And due to the effect of Rose Fairy, if you get it outside of the draw phase, it can be special summoned.

Level 3/Wind/Plant

ATK 600/DEF 1200

Akiza: And now Witch of the Black Rose tunes with Rose Fairy in order to synchro summon Black Rose Dragon!

Her ace monster appeared and destroyed all the mirrors.

Level 7/Fire/Dragon

ATK 2400/DEF 1800

Alastor: Looks like someone lost their little hiding place.

Just then, Yusei and Sayer arrived at the site of the duel.

Yusei: There they are!

Sayer: Yeah, but look, they're both out of control.

Yusei looked closer and saw what Sayer meant.

Yusei: If we don't snap them out of it, who knows what they'll do once the duel is over.

Hey everyone. I hope you're all enjoying the story. So I decided to make the duel against Misty a tag duel. There's only a few chapters left in the story. I've decided that I am eventually going to do a story for season 2 of 5ds, but I'm probably going to stop in the same place that the english dub did.
