NOW IS THE TIME for the final showdown between the leader of the Fiendish five and our girl Rouge, so get ready
Will she succeed or will she fail her ancestors?
Chapter 6 The cold heart of hate
(Three days later)
"It took us two days to prepare but eventually me and my crew managed to give the team van some badly needed upgrades, as me and my team were on our way to the Krak-Karov volcano in Russia, while I was going over what little information I had on the finale member of the Fiendish five, I began to notice something…strange, in the pages of the Book of shadows recovered so far, several of the pictures depicted a shadowy, owl-like figure in the backgrounds of said pictures, which looks very similar to the police sketches of the mysterious being known only as Clockwerk but here's the thing, these pictures go back more than a thousand years, this CAN'T been the same Clockwerk mentioned in the police files if this was him then he would have to be well over a thousand years old or more, could this possibly be his ancient ancestor or something else and what connection does he have to my family line, is this just a coincident or…is there something more to this discovery than meets the eye…I won't know until I confront the man who made me watch as they assaulted my childhood home and made me and my sister orphans…its time…TO END THIS"
(End of P.O.V)
The team van drove up to the sealed gates of Clockwerk's lair
"Looks like Clockwerk wised up and locked the door" Murray stated
"Well it's a good thing that we came prepared for such a thing" Rouge said
"She's got that right, by all means, let's see what these new upgrades can do" Bentley told Rouge
"My thoughts exactly" Rouge replied as Bentley activated a turret on top of the van, which Rouge mounted and prepared to storm the fortress and end this, they blasted the door open and entered through the gate
"Rouge, landmines up ahead, think you can clear a path through" Murray told Rouge
"I've got em" Rouge replied as she blasted her way through the landmines making it safe for the van to go through
"BINGO WE'RE IN" Murray shouted
"According to the scanners, Clockwerk is held up in that owl-shaped tower in the distance" Bentley said as the team came across a heavy resistance in the form of flying, robotic owls
"INCOMING" Murray yelled
"I GOT THIS" Rouge shouted as she started blasting the mechanical owls one by one as they tried to stop Rouge and her team from pressing forward
"Nice shooting Rouge" Murray called
"Hold on you two…my scanners are detecting a massive, energy signature from the own-shaped tower" Bentley said
"Um, Bentley…I DON'T think that's a tower" Rouge said, then a beam of energy was fired from the eyes of the tower which started a rockslide which was heading right for the van
"That ain't a tower, IT'S A GIANT DEATH RAY, Rouge, take out those boulders or we're in TROUBLE" Bentley said
"I'M ON IT" Rouge replied before she started shooting at the boulder to break them apart, thanks to her they got past them
"HEADS UP, MORE ROBO-OWLS" Murray shouted as more robotic owls showed up, but Rouge took care of them and some more landmines along with more tumbling boulders before they got to the next part of Clockwerk's lair
"NICE SHOOTING ROUGE, it should be nothing but smooth sailing from now on" Bentley said as the van rolled towards a very narrow pass
"Um, Murray, I don't think that cave is tall enough for the TURRET TO MAKE IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH" Rouge said before she ducked back into the van as the turret was lost
"Aw MAN, I wanted to try it" Murray said
"We can build another one, let's just get this Clockwerk guy first" Bentley told Murray as they continued onward deeper into Clockwerk's lair, then they came to a room filled with lava and several computers hanging from the ceiling
"Alright, we're in, what now Bentley" Rouge asked
"We have to get through that reinforced, security gate on the far side of the cavern, however the only way to get through it is to analyze at least sixty of those computers hanging from the ceiling" Bentley answered
"Too bad that cave entrance thrashed out new turret it would have been easy to just shoot them from a distance" Rouge said
"True, we'll have to do this the hard way, I'll get to work on hacking their connection couplings so that they'll fall to the ground, someone will have to pilot the ship and run over them so we can collect the data stored inside them" Bentley explained
"So, what will me and Rouge do" Murray asked
"Murray, were gonna need a SERIOUSLY aggressive driver to get to those computers, once I start the hack it won't be long before Clockwerk will send trouble our way to stop us" Bentley answered
"Then you both better hang on TIGHT, this is gonna get crazy" Murray said
"And don't forget to use our new battering ram we installed into the van to keep any enemies away from the computer's, GO GET EM MURRAY" Rouge told the hippo as the van was moved into position and Bentley started his hacking, true to Murray's word, she managed to outdrive these lava slug-like monsters that tried to stand in their way only for Murray to keep them away from the computers and collected sixty computers
"YES" Rouge and Bentley yelled at once
"What I tell you guys" Murray asked before Rouge kissed Murray on the cheek
"Murray, you did GREAT your next meal is all on me" She told him as he blushed
"Th-thanks" He replied
"Now that we got enough data, let's go on ahead" Rouge said
"Agreed, through the gate is Clockwerk's death ray tower, I think some sabotage is in order" Bentley said as they headed off as Rouge prepared herself for the final confrontation with the leader of the Fiendish five
"It's time Clockwerk" Rouge muttered before she jumped out of the van and sprinted off to find the man who made her and Raven orphans and stole the last pages of the Book of shadows, she entered the next room, which was littered with traps
"Be careful Rouge, those tiles are booby trapped, you better proceed to the next room fast" Bentley told her, she was about to when something caught her eye
"Whoa, hold up" Rouge stated as she looked across the room of traps before she saw on the other side of the heavily guarded room, it was Raven, trapped
"Oh no" Rouge muttered
"What is it" Bentley asked
"It's…IT'S RAVEN, she's trapped" Rouge answered
"Serves her right, she's been dogging us from the start" Bentley stated
"It's just a misunderstanding, I gotta free her" Rouge replied
"WHAT, ARE YOU CRAZY" Murray's voice shouted through the earpiece
"I agree, Clockwerk probably stuck her there to draw you into a trap" Bentley agreed
"Maybe so, but still, we can't just LEAVE her there, she's my SISTER" Rouge said
"SHE'S A COP who's been trying to arrest you since this whole Fiendish five mess started" Bentley replied
"SHE'S FAMILY, BENTLEY" Rouge snapped back, she paused before speaking again
"Bentley, Murray I can't thank either of you enough for getting me this far but if you want to back out now because neither of you realize that I GOT TO help my sister then you can just LEAVE" Rouge growled
"What, we, we would never leave you" Murray said
"Well it sounds like you guys are bailing out on me" Rouge said
"We're not saying that Rouge" Bentley replied
"Then what's it gonna be, boys, either help me save the ONLY kin I have left or GET OUT OF MY WAY AND I'LL DO IT MYSELF" Rouge yelled, Bentley and Murray paused before they looked at each other before answering
"Rouge…your logic escapes me sometimes…but if your sure about this…alright, we'll help you" Bentley answered
"Thank you" Rouge replied
"If you're planning on going through with this, there's a barrel nearby that should help you get past the dart guns that are tied to the floor, though I have no idea how you're gonna get up there" Bentley said
"Are you forgetting who you're talking to here, Bentley, a Ninja spire landing here, a rail slide there, I've done this so many times it's become like second nature to me" Rouge replied
"Be careful Rouge" Murray said
"I've got this Murray" Rouge replied before she did what she did best and pulled through the heavily booby trapped room, reaching up to the barrel and using it to get past the dart machine guns, where she disabled the security lights and nearby alarm but when she entered the small room where Raven was being held, the door suddenly shut behind her
"WHAT THE" Rouge shouted, trying to break the glass but it didn't even get a scratch from Rouge's cane swing
"Not good" Rouge muttered
"ROUGE…I should have known YOU were behind this" Raven said, jumping to conclusions
"Hold on now, you got me all wrong, sister, I didn't put you in there, I'm here to bust you out" Kai replied, she was about to bust her out but then the room started filling with a gas that started to put Rouge to sleep
"Ga, ah, wh-what's going…on" Rouge struggled to talk as the gas was started to put her to sleep
"Rouge…ROUGE" Raven shouted in shock as Raven pounded on the glass of her prison, then a shadowy figure appeared on the monitors around the room
"Ha, ha, ha, ha, oh you, sentimental fool, empathy has always been the downfall of your kind, your honor, your moral codes, take them away and you would be the most successful thieves on the planet but with them…your predictable" A creepy voice came through the speakers, it was Clockwerk
"You monster, TURN OFF THE GAS" Raven demanded
"You do not make demands here inspector, none who enter my domain do…with Rouge gone and you soon to follow after this…the entirety of the Bat clan will FINALLY be GONE" Clockwerk said
(In the van)
Bentley and Murray were watching the whole thing through the monitor systems and saw Rouge in trouble
"Rouge…ROUGE, NO, OH I KNEW THIS WAS A TRAP" Bentley said
"WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING" Murray yelled in fear
"It would take us too long to breach the glass of that chamber, there's only ONE chance we can help her and Raven, I'm gonna have to do some SERIOUS hacking to get Rouge out of this one before her brain is turned into cheese" Bentley said as he connected wirelessly to Clockwerk's computer system and attempted to hack into it
"HURRY" Murray told the turtle
"I'M GOING, I'M GOING" Bentley replied, hurrying as fast as he could, he bypassed several lairs of heavily protected systems and eventually found the controls for the gas chamber and turned it off
"YOU DID IT BENTLEY" Murray yelled
"Gas chamber disabled" Bentley said
(Back with the Bat sisters)
The gas was starting to shut off
"What…how, how is this possible, NO" Clockwerk's voice faded out as the chamber shut down and the gas turned off, Rouge then got to her feet and shook her head
"Ah, whew, that's better" Rouge muttered
"Rouge, you okay" Murray's voice rang in her ear
"Yeah…WHEW, just a little groggy, thanks Bentley, I owe you one" Rouge answered
"Don't mention it" Bentley replied before Rouge turned to Raven
"Rouge" Raven said
"Raven" Rouge replied
"I…I was so scared that you were gonna…gonna" Raven tried to say
"Yeah, I thought that for a minute to" Rouge said
"I don't know what to say" Raven said
"There's nothing to say and I probably would have blamed you if our roles were reversed" Rouge replied
"You know, I…I was wrong about you when I said this was your fault…I'm sorry, get me out of here and we'll find some way to make it up to you" Raven said
"Stand still sis" Rouge said before she whacked the containment glass with her cane and smashed it open, freeing Raven, she then reequipped her with her shock pistol and used them to blast a way out of the back of the chamber
"Let's move it" Raven told her sister as the two moved further ahead
*It sure is great to FINALLY have a conversation with my sister without her trying to arrest me* Rouge said in her head
(Outside)
The sisters got outside to a view overlooking the power source for the death ray
"AH, fresh air…it maybe molten lava air, but it's air" Rouge said before the sisters stood in front of each other
"I don't get it, Rouge ever since…well, you know…I've hunted you, tried to put you in jail, yet when you have the chance to leave me, trapped in a cage, you break me out…why" Raven asked
"Ray…before we were on opposite sides of the law, before I was a thief and you were a cop…we were FIRST…and ALWAYS will be…SISTERS" Rouge answered, Raven shed a slight tear, feeling her slightly cold heart move
"Rouge" Raven muttered
"You're the most honest and hard-working woman that I know sis, your just trying to do your jobs, right, well, I'm a woman trying to avenge a wrong done to the BOTH of us years ago and make it right, I am not your enemy here, now, the homicidal, robotic madman who trapped you in that prison, built that giant death ray and nearly gassed us to death…THAT guy in on the list" Rouge explained, Raven thought about it for a second before answering
"Well…I guess you got a point…alright then, until Clockwerk and his evil schemes are put down…I suggest we work together" Raven said, Rouge smiled
"What are you smiling about" Raven asked
"The Bat sisters, back together for the first time since we were little girls, bouncing on poppa's knees" Rouge said, Raven then realized she was right, and she chuckled
"Yeah, I guess your right" Raven said before a robotic owl swooped by the two, knocked Rouge down to the ground and took her cane, it flew up to the top of the power generator before Raven accurately shot it and the cane fell at the top
"Rouge, you okay" Raven asked, helping her sister up
"Yeah I'm okay but I NEED that cane back" Rouge said
"Yeah, I know, just like poppa said" Raven was about to say
"It's been in the family for generations" Both sisters said at once
"Don't worry Rouge, I'll cover you while you make a run for your cane, if you can, get to the top of the death ray, I stashed my jet pack up there right before Clockwerk nabbed me" Raven told her sister
"Thanks Ray" Rouge replied
"Hold on now, Rouge, this truce is only temporary" Raven said
"Huh" Rouge asked
"Look…while I appreciate that you saved me back in the gas chamber and still think of me as your sister even after all the things I've tried to do to you…I still have my sworn duty as a cop to arrest you, this truce is only temporary, once Clockwerk is done for, I'm coming after you" Raven said
"Raven…truth be told, I wouldn't have it any other way, so long as it's my SISTER doing the chasing" She answered, making Raven smile, knowing that Rouge didn't have any trouble with her own sister being on the opposite side of the law (Friends, that's REAL sibling love right there, not letting professional business getting in the way of the love of two siblings)
"Well…maybe I'll give you a ten second head start" Raven replied as she readied herself to cover Rouge
"Thanks Raven" Rouge replied
"Just get going, I got you covered" Raven replied as Rouge started to travel up the power generator of the death ray, several lava slugs and robotic owls tried to stop Rouge from reaching the top but thanks to the sharp shooting of her sister, Rouge made it up to the top where she got back her cane before she waved to Raven
"Hmm…go get em Rouge" Raven muttered before she moved out, Rouge on the other hand moved onto the death ray to grab a backpack, Bentley then called
"There's the jet pack just like Raven said it would be" Rouge told Bentley
"Yeah, but you better get up there fast, the magnetron support systems for the death ray were disabled while you were making a run for your cane, you better MOVE IT before the whole thing comes tumbling down" Bentley warned
"I'm gone" Rouge replied, she then hurried over to the death ray as it was starting to sink into the lava below her, she climbed as fast as she could (And the reason she didn't fly is because she couldn't get any aloft beneath her wings) eventually, she got up to the top of the death ray and equipped the jet pack on her back, she then took to the air as the machine plummeted below the lava
"Nice climbing Rouge, the death ray is down" Bentley called as Rouge hovered over the wreckage of the death ray, she thought it was over but then Clockwerk showed up behind her
"ROUGE, BEHIND YOU" Bentley yelled form the earpieces before Rouge turned to face the man who ruined her's and Raven's childhood and murdered they're parents, leader of the Fiendish Five and he was terrifying to behold
"Rouge of the Bat clan, you have escaped my gas chamber, defeated my servants, laid waste to my work and destroyed my death ray…remarkable, the members of the Bat clan always seem to find a way to beat me" Clockwerk said
"Always…wait a minute…so that WAS you in the background of all those old pictures in the Book of shadows, HOW OLD ARE YOU" Rouge asked him, putting the pieces together
"Perfection has no age, girl" Clockwerk replied
"What, your immortal" Rouge asked him
"Revenge is the prime ingredient in the fountain of youth, I've kept myself alive for thousands of years with a steady diet of jealousy and hatred, awaiting the day I would finally eclipse the Bat clan's thieving reputation…and now that you and you're precious sister are here…once I kill the both of you my dream will be a reality…a world WITHOUT the Bat clan" Clockwerk told her, Rouge then armed herself with the rockets attached to the jetpack, knowing her cane wasn't gonna be enough to take him down, Raven then called from an earpiece
"Rouge, the rockets on your pack don't hurt him but seem to create holes in his armor, shoot into the gaps I create" Raven advised
"You got it sis…and, as for you, you flying pile of junk…I got news for you, you're not gonna TOUCH my sister because I'm ENDING YOU HERE" Rouge told the robotic bird as the battle was on as Clockwerk attacked with high-tech laser blasters while Raven laid down cover fire for her sister as she soared through the air to take the metal monster down, after some well-placed shots, Clockwerk plummeted into the lava of the volcano
"NICE SHOOTING ROUGE…you GOT HIM" Bentley said through the earpiece, suddenly the not so dead body of Clockwerk came up from the lava damaged but still operational
"Wow, that's one tough owl" Bentley said
"I don't get it Clockwerk, if you're so familiar with the Bat clan, then you must have known mine and Raven's parents had twin daughters, if you hatted us so much, then why did you let me and Raven live that night years ago you could have more than easily killed us" Rouge asked Clockwerk
"Because I wanted to prove to the world that without your precious book…the Bat clan was NOTHING" Clockwerk answered
"Well, that's where your wrong metal mouth, the Book of shadows doesn't create great thieves, it takes great thieves to make the Book of shadows" Rouge replied
"ENOUGH, Rouge this ends NOW…I will finish you and your sister here and now and with your deaths tonight, I will finally be rid of the Bat clan, then the only master thief will be…Clockwerk" Clockwerk replied as their battle continued, using energy rings, Clockwerk attacked but thanks to Rouge's maneuverability and some help from her inspector sister, she was able to defeat Clockwerk but still, he wasn't done yet
"NOWS YOUR ONLY CHANCE, ROUGE, you've got to get to his head and destroy it before his auto repair system kicks in" Bentley called through the earpieces
"FINISH THIS ROUGE" Raven yelled through the earpiece, Rouge then dropped from her jet pack and glided over to the body of the giant, metal owl with her wings and came face to face with the metal bird
"ROUGE…you…will…NEVER be rid of me" Clockwerk told her in hate, Rouge then raised her cane up to deliver the finishing blow
"For mine and Raven's mother and father…for all the lives you've ruined…and for the Bat clan members who came before me and Raven" Rouge said before she smashed Clockwerk's head and it went flying into the lava, Rouge managed to get the last piece of the Book of shadows from him and it was over, Rouge then took the first, real breath of relaxation she got since this whole thing started
And that ends the Fiendish five's reign of terror
Only one more chapter on this story before planning for the next one, hang around for the epilogue
Oh but, WAIT A MINUTE, you don't have to because you are about to be treated to a DOUBLE WHAMMY here, so there will be another chapter after this
