When Kai finds himself unable to fight off the siren's latest attack, his friends must dive into his subconscious and along the way set off-chain events that leave everyone dealing with another life-changing decision. Meanwhile, tension boils over between Bonnie and Alaric about the safety of Kai and the Gemini Twins.

"You belong to me."

He purrs on her soft skin, and then brushes away a sweaty auburn lock of hair out of the way, his lips placed upon her skin in a light kiss. Bonnie flat on her belly with her ass in the air, whilst Kai knelt between her legs – his rough hands caressing her plump cheeks.

"Fuck. I want you like this, forever." Now, in their current round, Kai has her stretch — they've already been at it for hours, and her body was aching.

All she could do was lay there in her latest position and take it – he pressed closer, plunged deeper, until he's fully inside of her.

"I bet you'd let me keep you like this all night long." Kai lightly roars, his throaty cackle vibrating against her breast. "I'm going to fuck you again…"

Bonnie nibbles on her lower lip in excitement. Even though her body is screaming for a break, she knows she couldn't possibly stop right now. She pushes back against him. His cock slid full inside of her, taking him to the shaft.

Creeping inside of her, Kai catches his breath. It's mellow and expecting as he inserts his cock into her. Groaning, he thrusts into her, craving more grinding.

Bonnie lodges her heels into him as he pummels hard into her. "Fuck, Kai, I'm going to come again."

A possessive snigger leaves Kai's mouth. Bonnie clasps to him, her nails digging into his back as she reaches her height once more. Her breathing becomes more swift as her body turns from twine to lose in a single thrust.

Kai pounds into her, his balls slapping against her, bringing himself to tip her over the rim just one last time. He presses into her, sound and rapid, the soft cries of his name coming from her pretty mouth. With warmth slithering up his back, and the strain of holding back snaps as he empties into her.

Proceeding to come down from his intoxication, Kai pulls out slowly with a sob. Beaming with pleasure, Kai drinks in the sight of Bonnie's nude body. They kiss each other, lounging into their radiance and achieving orgasm.

Bonnie woke up the next day to the smell of coffee, and behind it buttered toast and bacon. She blinked. Watery morning light filtered through the glass opening. Rain spattered on the windows. Familiar windows: Gram's windows. In Bonnie's old bedroom. Tucked away in her old bed. And that was Kai, sitting on the edge of the bed, stroking her messy curls away from her face.

"Morning, babe," he greets, as if they woke up like this every morning.

Bonnie sat up, clutching the sheet to her body. "Morning," she mumbled, her voice deep with sleepiness. She smiled at the tray she saw Kai was holding. "You made breakfast?"

"Hey, I'm a decent cook. Or did you forget our Thanksgiving meal together?" he grinned, resting the tray down on the bedside table and leaning towards her with a coffee cup in his hand. Bonnie let out an indecent whimper and reached out greedily.

The coffee was wonderful, with the right amount of cream and sugar. "You remembered how I liked my coffee." Kai might have been the first person to recall that she preferred two shots of espresso in her coffee, heavy on the cream and light on the sugar.

Kai passed Bonnie one of the plates and a fork. "I watched you for months. Of course, I remember." Bonnie twinkled from behind the shade of her cup. "Come on, eat before it gets cold." He gave her a peck on the cheek before turning his attention to his plate.

She stuck her empty cup out of the way on the nightstand. She knelt up in bed and stretched. One hand ran through her hair and the other kept the bedsheet in place over her breasts. Kai's eyes were on her, not looking away as he ate.

Bonnie smiled again, looking down at the food he made. "I'm glad you're in a good mood." She bulged with her mouthful of toast. "Sorry, we have you under house arrest."

Kai wanted to follow Enzo and Lucy back to the armory and torture Sybil for information on this kidnapper. But the gang agreed it would be a bad idea if he were to get involved, right after they got him from Sybil's grip.

"I just hate not knowing what's going on." He frowned as he put his knife and fork down on his empty plate.

"Matt thinks the nanny might be Sybil's sister. Tyler apparently left a couple of clues and was going to give them to Enzo, but…" Damon killed him before he could get that far.

Kai stared at her uncomprehendingly for a minute. "Why go after two innocent little girls?"

"Not just any little girls, future Gemini Witches," Bonnie said, and almost reeled up. Kai's hand came down on her arm and she leaned in. "Even without the training, those girls are already a force to be reckoned with. The sirens know that whatever Sybil is planning could be big and dangerous. I want you to stay put. We'll make sure nothing happens to them."

Kai caught her hand, buttery fingers and all. And kissed her fingertips. He'd shaved before making her breakfast in bed. He was just as sexy with a clean face. Her thoughts rushed to last night and early this morning, after the carnival, when she invited him into her Gram's home. Making their way into the living room, Kai made his way on top of her so unexpectedly after the day they both had. So hot, heavy, and persistent. But never inconsiderate of her pleasure. Back in college, after Kai left her, she had lots of sex. Both good and bad, boring and twisted, but never had she been up all night having sex like that.

Pushing those nasty thoughts out of her head when she heard Kai's phone ringing.

"Umm, I thought Stefan said Damon was in a coffin next to Elena."

"He is." Kai held up his phone to show her who was calling him. Damon, Bonnie thought her heart might stop. She thought she might throw up. This was not good. "Oh, for fuck's sake."

Kai answered it. "Damon, they let you back out?"

Instead of a snarky response. Bonnie heard a weird screech that made Kai grunt in pain. His weight on his middle shifted back a bit, a different pressure buildup. Her arms tried to catch him as his body gave out.

"KAI!"

"How the hell did she even break out of here?" Stefan shouted without turning his head. "I thought this place was secured."

"Someone got her out," Valerie said, leaning into Stefan's space. "It's possible her sister sent a henchman to help her escape."

"It was probably Damon." He groans and runs a hand through his hair, which he hasn't gelled up in months. "Dammit, they've probably reunited and are planning to take over the world by now."

"You are so melodramatic." Valerie's mood vastly improved. It lasted only a few minutes, though. "Lucy and Enzo are meeting up with Alaric and Caroline. It will be fine."

Stefan ducked his head and shook it. "If something happens to those girls, or if Damon hurts them."

He doesn't say it with any more emotion than his usual grousing—no heat, no fire behind his words. And yet they hit Valorie as though Stefan had screamed. This was lower than rock bottom for Damon.

"I got a particle trace on the nanny's cellphone." Matt interrupted, storming into the armory. "They are near Oakwood. Caroline is meeting Enzo and Lucy there."

"Any words from your cop buddies?" Stefan asked, shifting from one foot to the other.

Matt put his back to the wall and folded his arms. "Not a cop anymore, so they don't exactly keep me in the loop."

"We need to figure out where they are going next?" Valerie asked when the silence went on too long.

"Aren't you a witch, can't you do a locator spell?"

Valerie swallowed and lifted her chin. "Not on the sirens, and if Damon wasn't with them, I could locate him. Their powers are quite old and unique. Being a siphoner comes with its disadvantages, especially one that never merged their power. If Kai had his magic back…"

"I could really use some help here⎯"

Everyone turned to the petite witch, dragging in her tall boyfriend through the doors. Matt rushes over to help her sit Kai down on the chair in front of the dusty window. Valerie frowned, not realizing what was going on with Kai, and looked up at Bonnie.

"Sybil," Kai mutters murderously. "She's trying to worm her way back into my head."

Valerie stared up at him, her eyes wide with a glimmer of hope. "Can you see her? Sense her location?" she asked carefully, inching forward.

He didn't move or even look at Valerie. "No!" Kai hisses from between clenched teeth.

"Sybil once told me she could manipulate Damon by invading his subconscious," Stefan says, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "If you can't see her, maybe there's still a way to talk to her in your head. "

Kai rounds on Stefan, slightly affronted. "When I get my hands on her and Damon, I'll fucking kill them."

Bonnie finally turns around, glaring fiercely. "Can't one of you get into his head?"

Kai's face was so pale it was almost white. He was still swaying slightly, even though sitting down. Bonnie put her hand between Kai's shoulder blades, gently guiding him forward until his head was between his knees.

"I've never gone deeper than the surface of someone's mind," Stefan said, and Kai came back with a jerk and a hiss, looking both disoriented and spaced.

"Congratulations, Val, you're finally going to get a tour of my dark twisted inner self." The glare that accompanied the comment discouraged Valerie from disagreeing.

The blonde laid her hand gently on his shoulder, staring into his blue eyes tenderly. "Fuck it."

Her eyes shuttered closed, and she felt as though she was being sucked into a vortex, but when she opened her eyes again, the familiar sensation was gone, and a terrible, vicious wind ripped through her.

It didn't take Valerie too long to realize where she was in Kai's subconscious. She knew the Gemini Coven members when she spotted them. A group of witches circled around Kai as he lay on the ground. They pinned him down and had him whimpering. There she detected Sybil holding the ascendant and stepping forward from the circle of the coven members around them.

Kai was crying in pain, struggling to open his eyes.

"Wow, your father must have really hated you," Sybil said, and you could almost hear her smile. "Tricking you into thinking you'd merge powers with your sister and shipping your sociopathic ass to a prison world to rot for all eternity."

White teeth gleamed at the siren, and Kai shook his head. "I've endured worse than this," he said with a shrug of his shoulders. "If you want to punish me, go ahead, try your best to break me." The heretic snarled. His blue eyes were vast and powerless.

"You didn't think I was going to let you have a peaceful life with Bonnie, did you?" Sybil cried, pointing a finger at Kai. "Nobody escapes me. Never. I'll bend you to my will with one hand, while I eat greasy diner food with the other."

He rolled his eyes and huffed a sigh. "What? Damon isn't a good enough henchman for you?." Kai asked, and she glared at him as she noted the amusement twinkling in his eye. "He's who you really wanted? Or were you jealous of my fixated affection for Bonnie? Hate to break it to you. I was a virgin for forty years. I don't drop to my knees for any pretty girl."

Sybil looked surprised, as if his disclosure had softened her. "I think I'll go back to watching you get tortured by your father." Kai couldn't stop the little flinch he gave at that, but he remained right where he was. "Oh, Joshua."

Valerie noticed a tall, burly man who resembled Kai coming from behind a tree. He was chanting a pain infliction spell on Kai, who was screaming and shaking from the ground.

A convulsion shook her body, and she squeezed her eyes shut, gripping her arms tighter. Shaking herself out of his subconscious. Valerie was once again face to face with Bonnie.

She followed her gaze and furrowed her eyebrows. "What did you see?"

Valerie's features hardened in an instant, and she gave a mirthless titter. "Matt, pull up a list of all the diners in Oakwood," the blonde offered next to him. "Sybil should be eating there."

"On it."

Bonnie was mopping up the sweat from Kai's brows, while Stefan gave Valerie a concerned look. Her heart jerked at that. Every nerve in her body singing. She took a deep breath, exhaled it, and waited.

Stefan had his back turned from Bonnie and Kai. The heretic was now coughing up blood onto the floors. Bonnie was still swabbing his brows, trying to help him the best way she could. Valerie rushed to the kitchen to get a bucket and a glass of water for him.

Stefan's phone rang.

"Where is he?" the vampire gasped out and let his head fall back.

"We haven't found them yet. Enzo and Lucy are searching for another location. I'm waiting to hear from them." Alaric said in a harsh whisper. "In the meantime, how about working Kai over some more to see if he knows anything else."

"Not a good idea, Ric," Stefan said quietly, the words thick. "Sybil is mentally torturing him. There's no way around prying in his head without possibly killing him."

"You think I give a fuck," Alaric's voice straining. "My girls are missing. I'm sure Kai is more than willing to give his life to find his nieces. So do what needs to be done."

Something inside Stefan twists and recoils and sours his stomach. "So that's it. No one else gets a say in this." Alaric was silent. "This could kill him, Ric. Is that what you want?"

"Wait what?"

The urge to jump back was strong. "Bonnie, I…"

Her eyes were wide, bright and accusing, hard. "Put the phone on speaker."

Stefan hesitated for a moment before doing so. The look on Bonnie's face reminded him of Sheila Bennett.

"You want us to risk Kai's life?" she accused, arms hanging uselessly by her sides.

"Bonnie, this might be the best chance I have at getting my kids back, so if Stefan has to turn his brain into oatmeal, then yes, I want it done." His voice was steady, filled with so much acidity that for a moment.

"You fucking dick." Bonnie's voice still shook, but her tone was icy. "After everything Kai's done for you."

"Oh, like when he murdered my pregnant wife?" Alaric went on, proud of the casual tone of his voice. "Jo would still be here with me, with the girls, if your boyfriend hadn't thrown a fit over his daddy, not loving him. You think that because he's done a few good deeds that makes up for everything else, all the hurt and pain he caused." Stefan's eyes were unshakable on Bonnie. "Josie and Lizzie are all I have left. I won't let anyone stand in the way of my family."

This filled Bonnie with rage. Her eyes flashed dangerously.

Stefan waited for a second, but she didn't continue. "Ric put Caroline on."

"You must be out of your damn mind." Alaric's tone was still dripping with hatred. "Stay away from Caroline, Stefan."

With that, the other man hung up. That's when Valerie entered back into the room, noticing the tension.

"Did I miss something?" Valerie exclaimed when she strolled in.

"Ric wants my head on a platter." Kai made a strangled sound. "Can't say I blame him, somehow this is my fault."

"It's not, it's not your fault." Bonnie stared at him for a minute straight. "Everything is messed up because of Damon."

Suddenly, there was a lump in Stefan's throat the size of a tennis ball. "Now hold on..."

"Why else is Sybil on the loose again, if not your brother." Bonnie's eyes focused on him, analyzing him for a moment. "Now Ric wants you to screw Kai over."

"Absolutely not," Valerie said kindly, sighing and pressing her fingertips together. "We'll figure out a way to save those girls but not at the expense of Malachai."

"Stefan, I need you to do it, man." Kai snorted and cocked his head to the side. "Poke around, find Sybil, get her to talk, it's the only way to save the girls."

Bonnie paused, looking like she was in pain, but Stefan didn't know if it was physical or something else. "Kai, no."

Kai wasn't actually in much condition to stay conscious. "Bonnie, please. They're my family."

Stefan nodded. Willing to take the chance.

"BONNIE!"

It was so cold. In this painful memory, Sybil took him back to 1903. He could see Bonnie cutting her hand and dripping her blood over the ascendant as she was preparing for the spell.

Damon was jogging over to Elena with his mother, Lily, in tow. The three of them held on to Bonnie, who was holding the ascendant. Kai was only a few meters away from all of them. Watching as Bonnie began doing the spell, he noticed Bonnie's eyes flicker to him for a quick moment. She had that dark smirk on her face. Had this been a different time, Kai would have loved her for it. He continued to watch as they all got sucked back to the real world, and he was left to rot once again.

"This is morbid," Sybil's warm voice enters. "The love of your life stabs you and then abandons you in this icebox. I mean, you choose quite a gal."

Kai shot her a dirty glare and cracked his knuckles purposefully. "What's your plan, Sybil? You wanna watch Bonnie stab me a couple more times. Or better yet, have my father do it." He said, and the last words snapped out.

"I rather enjoyed that little show between you and your mother. The look on your face when she called you a mistake." Sybil spoke cruelly, "Nothing like emotionally torturing a man." It was true. She was getting off on his emotional turmoil rather than the physical abuse he suffered.

Raising his middle finger, he stopped for a second, slowly raising his eyes at Sybil. "Do whatever you want to me, just like the twins go."

"You have no right to make demands here. I'm going to kill you, Kai. Slow, and painful." Sybil said gruffly from beside him. "I'll even let Stefan watch."

Kai's head turned to see Stefan coming from behind the snowy trees. The vampire cleared his throat as he stepped over to Kai.

Stefan looked uncomfortable and wary, folding his arms across his chest the way Damon sometimes did. "Where are the twins?"

"Now, Stefan, you know better. If you want something from me, you have to do something in return." Sybil explained, stepping behind Stefan.

He offered a nervous laugh. "Fine, what do you want?"

"How about this?" Sybil breathed, her whole body pressed against Stefan. "You come to meet me alone, and I'll let Kai live and give you access to those girls."

In an instant, their eyes met. Kai, for his part, seemed torn between howling and tears. "Stefan, don't trust her."

"He's right, you shouldn't trust me." Sybil grinned at that. "However, this deal also includes your brother, and I have an offer you won't be able to refuse."

Stefan grunted. It could have been a chuckle, but it sounded like a grunt. "Deal."

It felt like his mind was on record, memorizing every expression Sybil was making, every sound, every movement. Kai shut his eyes as he listened to her demands.

A glass frame clanked against the wall, shaking Bonnie from her slumber. She sat up, rubbing her eyes briefly. Bonnie looked over on the couch beside her to see Kai was still asleep. She jumped a bit when she heard a knock on the door, and Matt revealed himself.

"Everyone is on their way to the motel." He said softly as he came into the light of the still-rising sun.

"Sooner they catch them, the better." She'd meant to sound harsh, but her voice had a desperate edge to it.

"When was the last time you ate anything?" Matt twisted around without a thought. "If you want, I can order a pizza for us."

"I can't think about food," she managed before a shake ripped through her, and she groaned, her shoulders slumping. "My mind is in such a dark place. I don't know what I'd do if I lost Kai. And I know it was wrong of me to fall for him."

"What gave you that idea?" Matt asked, rubbing her back with his hands to warm her.

Bonnie ran a hand through her frizzy hair. "Alaric seems to think Kai shouldn't be absolved from his past mistakes." Her lower lip quivered with anger. "I just can't help but think that I'm no better than Elena or Caroline. Look at me. Falling in love with a dangerous killer who has daddy issues. I spent so much time judging Elena for dating Damon, only to end up with Kai. And after everything, he's done to us, to Ric and his family."

Matt's lips curled. "I hated Kai because of what he did to you and Elena. I hated him for killing all those people at the wedding and helping Lily bring her family here. But you were also right about me. I held that double standard against you. I once saw another side to Rebekah, the same way you see it with Kai."

Her laugh came out more like a sob. "He murdered his pregnant sister, Matt." Bonnie shifted uncomfortably and let her gaze sweep over the room. "Jo should be here, raising her daughters with her husband. Caroline shouldn't be married to our high school history teacher. Elena should be awake planning her mortal future with us. But instead, she's in a coffin asleep while Damon's off working for a siren. Somehow I can't help but think my happiness with Kai is wrong." Her words were blurring together.

"Kai is crazy about you. He loves you so much, he gave up everything for you." Matt differed, both hands on her shoulders. "Kai turned his entire life around to be with you. I didn't think he had it in him to change. But he has. He fought against the siren and won. He did that because of you, Bonnie. Kai's a far better man than you're giving him credit for."

"Never thought I'd have Matt Donovan in my corner." The heretic hissed, wide awake now, shifting. Bonnie turned around just in time.

"Kai," she whimpered before leaping forward and folding herself into his arms. "I was so worried." Bonnie sighed, smiling. She definitely felt giddy.

Kai just beamed before straightening into a sitting position. "I'm okay, everything is going to be okay now."

Matt cleared his throat, and Kai looked up a little. "As much as I appreciate everything you've been doing for us. You can hang up the hero hair every once in a while and let one of us wear it."

"No more risking your life, okay?" she retorted, squeezing him.

He grabbed her chin roughly and met her empty green eyes with stormy blue ones. "Let's go home."

Kai sighed, rubbing his arms. He'd been awake for the last hour or so, watching the thunderstorm pass by. He hated lightning more than anything, though he loved the calm of rain and a constant thunder roll. It reminded him of Portland so much. The flash and crack that made his heart jump and awoke his entire body.

Finally, there seemed to be a lull, and Kai gathered himself up. He padded downstairs in sweatpants and loose white v-neck, hair messy and mouth open wide in a yawn. He made it downstairs, sprinting into the living room where he was greeted by Bonnie, who was curled up on the couch.

"Hey," he whispered, and Bonnie jumped and turned her head.

"You should be resting." Her influence over him softens, leaving him weak-kneed and clammy but less anxious than he'd felt in hours.

"Can't sleep with this storm," he admitted rather bashfully. "And I'm fine, I've got that super healing ability."

A stair creaked suddenly, and both of their eyes widened, Kai's gaze lifting to the curving stairs just beyond his sight. And then Enzo and Lucy both came into view. The couple both looked worn out.

Around Kai, white noise filled the air. He was almost afraid to ask, much less move, because right in this moment, the realization hit him like a sledgehammer.

"Lizzie and Josie, are they…"

Lucy collapsed onto the couch next to her cousin. "Alaric has them, we just dropped them off at the armory, they'll spend the night at the infirmary and get checked out by a doctor before Ric takes them back to Dallas."

"Okay, that's good. What about Damon and the sirens?" Bonnie asked. Her lower lip trembled.

"Stefan cut us out of the exchange," Enzo said without preamble, stepping up next to Kai. "The bloody bastard went charging in alone and made a deal with the devil."

Kai pinched the bridge of his nose. "Sybil gave him the package deal, which included my life, the twins, and Damon." He sighed, clutching his chest. "Stefan couldn't refuse, too much was at stake."

"What did Stefan do?" Bonnie muttered, swiping at her cheeks. "If you know what Sybil is up to…"

"Stefan had to surrender his soul to the devil. He's going to serve him in the place of Sybil, so it can free her." Kai answered evenly. The absoluteness in his tone was probably a bit too firm.

A still beat settled over the room. "That's insane. Why would he do this?" Lucy asked, trying to follow his eyes.

Kai shrugged a little. Every nerve in his body shaking with the need to move. "It was the only way to save the twins. Siren-nanny wanted the girls to take her and Sybil's place for their master, Cade. Sybil believes Stefan and Damon were a more powerful choice. Two of history's most prolific killers, both immortal. They were the best option, and I'm guessing Cade agreed to it."

Bonnie turned the full force of her gaze on him then, and he sucked in his breath as it bathed him in compassion. "So you and Damon were her original plan."

"Stefan just saved me from an eternity of misery."

For a moment, everyone was silent, but there seemed to be a million thoughts running over their minds. "So that's it. We just let the Salvatore brothers be killing machines," Lucy whispered after a minute.

"It's best for us to stop getting involved. I mean, look at what happened today." Enzo spat, almost as if the words were poison on his tongue. "Two innocent children were kidnapped and almost forced into slavery because of Damon's recklessness and Stefan's incompetence when it comes to being his brother's keeper. I will not put myself or Lucy at risk for Damon and Stefan, not anymore."

Lucy cleared her throat, gaining her fiance's full attention almost immediately. "I don't want anyone else to get hurt, and we can't exactly let them go on a killing spree for the devil."

Behind him, Bonnie nodded in agreement. "After what's happened to Tyler, I think we know what we have to do."

The day's clamor of emotions had caught up with Kai—the frustration of being confined to Sybil's will, the adrenaline of abuse he ensured, his anxiety for his nieces, and finally the distress that came with finding out Sybil's ultimate plan.

"We need to save Damon," Kai said after a while. Three pairs of eyes gaped at him. "I know Damon has done some pretty fucked up shit. I know it feels like he's completely given up. But he's scared. Damon fears where he's going next. He believes in hell, it's his biggest fear. Mines was Joshua, and being locked in the prison world. But I'm out now, and I have Bonnie to keep me sane."

Bonnie looked at him wide-eyed.

Enzo cleared his throat. "Mate, if this doesn't pan out, one of us could get killed. Think about what you're asking of us."

"I know what I'm asking of you guys." Kai took a shaky breath. "Knowing Valerie, this is crushing her. She won't let Stefan give himself up like this. The least I can do is try, but if we can't save them..."

"We'll have to kill them." Getting up the strength, Bonnie stood and walked around the couch to face him. "If we can't get through to them, we're killing them before things get out of control."

He was on her in a blink of an eye, grabbing her wrists firmly. His face was a breath away from hers. "That's a promise."
