Chapter 15 - Does Druitt find out?

"Quite a lot of teleportation for one day, you feeling any worse for wear?" She asks after seeing how acting slightly strange.

"Right as rain; in fact, I've... I've never felt better." He says, Magnus turns to go to her patient waiting for her in the OR. Druitt stares menacingly at two survivors who are looking at him in alarm.

While Magnus and Natalie are down in the O.R. everyone was back to their usual work, Druitt on the other hand was walking through he hallways. He got stop by one of the empaths he had rescued, she tried to thank him but all he said was that it was only a task for him and it meant nothing. The empath tried to tell him that he mustn't let the darkness control him, this angered him so his stabs her, killing her. It is later when Henry and Kate are walking through the hallway when they come across a door with blood pooling out from underneath, they open the door and the body of the empath John killed drops out. Upon seeing this they call for Magnus to come and see, and as soon as she sees how she was killed she knows exactly who had done it.

Magnus goes to search for Druitt she find him standing in front of a large window staring out, he hears her cocking a gun behind him.

"Beautiful...isn't it?" He tells her.

"Turn around very slowly…" Druitt turns slowly, "How long?" She asks

"Long enough, habits are...hard to break."

"Perhaps you're not trying hard enough."

"I am who I am! It's high time you did something about it." Druitt says as he throws a knife into the wall beside Magnus and rushes off down the hallway. Magnus's shoots at him but her shot is too late and she runs after him.

"John!" She yells after him, taking another shot when he refuses to stop. The shot misses wide. She starts running after him again. Druitt clothes lines her as she comes down the hallway, knocking her down and the gun flying out of her reach. He then proceeds to kick her in the abdomen, picking up the gun and kneels by her. She holds her abdomen as she pushes herself to a sitting position with her free hand.

"I take it the EM Shields are up." He asks as he stands. Magnus nods in the affirmative. Druitt pulls a switchblade out of his inner pocket and activates the blade. Just as he is about to attack her with knife Kate comes running down the hallway after hearing the shot Magnus fired. Druitt times it so that just as she's rounding the corner he knocks her down by punching her in the face, sending the weapon she had towards Magnus's reach, he has now decided he needed to deal with Kate first, that way he could take his time with Helen. With his attention now on Kate, Magnus took the opportunity to grab the weapon near her at shot John with it, the energy blast hits him but doesn't show to have affected him by much. After being shot by Helen he now goes to kill Helen, she sends another blast his way this time showing sign of slowing him but he still coming at her. She keeps shooting at him until he collapses with no pulse.

They quickly find a gurney and get him down to the O.R. as fast as they could, Magnus was not willing to let him die so easily. Along the way she told Kate to get Natalie, even though she didn't want Druitt to know about her she didn't have much choice now, she needed her to help. Upon arriving at the O.R. Magnus saw that Natalie was there waiting for them already, she watched as her mother wheeled in Druitt, assessing the situation she quickly gets to work helping her mother save this man. They struggled to get his heart going again, but were able to when the defibrillator took an energy surge. It took only a few moments later when he awoke, looking around the room he first thinks he's seeing double, although it didn't take him long to work out he wasn't and this women was of course Helens daughter, she was older than Ashley so he began to question Helen.

"So you were willing to have a child with another man, but with me you weren't, not until you needed her to keep this one entertained." He said with a mixture of hurt and anger.

"John." Helen started to say,

"Oh no, don't even try to come up with any excuses. This just shows me how you really feel."

"I know you don't want to hear this from me. But I was not some revenge plan to get back at you, things happened yes and this time when they did Helen was in a better position to raise a child. That is the only reason why she kept me beside holding off like she did with Ash." Natalie said taking it upon herself to stand up for her mother.

"Look I'll get out your way now, I've done what I was needed here to do." She continued to say, she didn't want to stay any longer than she needed. Taking the excuse as having work to get back to, she left leaving her mother and Kate to take care of Druitt. He didn't say anything in response to her comment, as he still was very weak after what he had just been through, he just laid there watching as she left the room. While Natalie made her way back to her work she noticed the lights beginning to flicker, not thinking too much of this as she knew it probably had something to do with the sudden power surge they had seen in the O.R., Henry would be able to fix it. Little did she know how wrong she was.

Meanwhile Henry is currently in Magnus's office trying to sort out the power issues, he radios down to Magnus,

"Doc, I need to do a major system reboot. Can you live without your med servers for a few nanoseconds?"

"Do it." She tells him, he begins the reboot.

Back in the O.R.,

"We need to check for any breaches in abnormal containment. We won't have full security until Henry's reboot is complete." Magnus tells Kate, who nods but asks,

"Y-you're cool hanging with Jack The Ripper?"

"He's no danger to anyone right now." Helen replies, accepting this answer Kate turns and leaves. After Kate has left Druitt starts to realise something,

"I don't know why... I feel so strange." He tells Helen, he couldn't quite pick what it was just yet.

"I know you wanted this to end more quickly. I'm sorry to disappoint you." Was the only response she gave him.

"Why did you bring me back?" He asked her, Magnus just sighs. He should already know why. He should know that she wouldn't let anyone die if she could help it.

As soon as he has enough of his strength back she moves him to the Shu, she leads him into one of the cells, with his hands are handcuffed in front of him.

"The EM Shield is at full strength. Attempt to teleport, and you will die." She explains to him as they enter the cell.

"I understand." He says as he continues to walk to the back of the room, he then stands there not looking back at Magnus.

"This is my fault, John. I should never have believed that you could change, that you had changed. How many have there been since…" She asks,

"Since you let me back in? Does it matter?" He asks back.

"You've been killing again and not just Cabal remnants." She asks already suspecting the answer, this cause John to turn back and face her. He tells her,

"Does it matter that I never wanted it to begin again, that I tried to stop? Helen, I tried!"

"This is Whitechapel all over again." Having heard enough she explains to him she was transferring him to another secure facility as he was far too dangerous to ever be free again. Magnus tosses the keys to the cuffs to Druitt who catches them. Just the the lights flicker and the door closes. She rushes to the door but isn't able to escape in time, she looks back at Druitt, not sure as to what was happening. Thinking that he might be somehow responsible she grabs her gun and aims it at him to warn him not to try anything. What she didn't know yet was that everyone else was now in a similar situation, stuck in a room somewhere without any means of leaving. Will and Henry were stuck on Med level, Biggie and Kate were stuck in an elevator and the empaths they had rescue were stuck in one of the guest rooms. The only one who hadn't been locked in a room was Natalie, that must have been because she was currently back in the records room where there is no cameras. Whoever had sent the Sanctuary into lockdown hadn't seen her so was unaware of needing to keep her contained.

Natalie was going through some more files when the lights suddenly went off, the emergency lighting coming out shortly after. She get up and make her way to her computer to check the system as to what was going on, she sees that the building has entered a lockdown for some reason. Natalie tries to get onto the security part of the system but is unable, this leaves her not being able to check what had caused the lockdown. Thats when she notices something taking control of the system, she tries to stop them but is locked out. Just like Henry was who was still trapped in the O.R., he also wasn't able to gain access to the system. Will keeps questioning him as to what was going on but he had no answers, this shouldn't be happening, he shouldn't be locked out of a system he created. Thats when Will notices the the monitors have come back on showing the security feed of everyone who was trapped, just the he hears the Bug Guys voice coming from somewhere.

"Hello!" Comes from the speaker.

"Big Guy?" Henry who had also heard the voice asked.

"Where are you?" Will asked.

"In an elevator." Biggie replies.

"No, I know, but where are you?" Will asks again,

"Will... It's the original room to room intercom. Man, I can't believe that thing still works." Henry says pointing out the speaker on the wall. Will goes up and grabs it from the wall,

"Hello? Hey!" He says into it, that's when Kate joins the conversation,

"Hey! What's going on? The phones are dead. Nothing works." She asks.

"Yeah, I know. Henry's locked in the O.R. with a patient. I'm stuck on Med Level. We've gone into some weird lockdown mode." Will explains. Kate goes on to say something must be going on.

"Still, it shouldn't kill the phones or lock us out of the computers. At least I can see you. You're on the surveillance cam. Magnus is locked in with Druitt." Will tells her while looking at the feed on the monitor.

"Is she all right?" Biggie asks

"Yeah, she's fine. He seems quiet for now."

"W... w... wait. If audio's down, why is video still running? I mean, shouldn't everything be FUBAR?" Kate asks, will just reply saying he didn't know and mentioned they were currently talking through an old intercom. He then asked if they could connect with anyone else as they really needed help with the patient that was in the O.R. with Henry. The lights flicker again Will hopes this means thing have reset but no luck.

Looking at the security feed that she had finally been able to access, Natalie saw that everyone else was trapped and was being monitored by someone. Seeing this she noticed that she had been found, that meant she had to keep it that way, meaning if she left this room she would have to stay out of view of the cameras. She couldn't allow whoever had taken control to know where she was, at the moment she had the advantage where she could try and make her way to the main server and force back control that way. Back in the containment cell,

"This really is none of my doing. Otherwise, why would I still be here?" Druitt tells Magnus.

"Accidental or not, I will shoot you if you give me reason." She replied, he agreed with her.

"None of this makes any sense. Lockdown shouldn't cut off our communications or jam our radio and phone signals. Henry's overrides must not be working." She says as she tries to figure out what what going on.

"Helen, I know there's no good time but I need you to understand something." John began as the lights flicker again.

"What is this!" Helen asks him.

"It's as if a part of me has been severed." He tells her as they hear the Big Guys voice asking,

"Can anybody hear me?" Come from the speaker in the cell.

"Yes, I can. Where are you?" Helen asks, the Big Guy annoyed tells her that he was in the elevator

"There's been a malfunction in the security system. I need assistance." She tells him,

"Not the only one." He replies, shocking Helen even more. She thought that her and John were the only ones affected. The Big Guy then works on getting all that were involve connected through the intercom, succeeding.

"Henry? Will? Found her." He announces.

Now connected with Magnus Will asks for her help, they still needed to help the patient they had. Magnus tells them what needed to be done, and with that sorted the questions as to what was happening came.

"I've already tried everything I can from a remote terminal. This isn't a glitch, believe me. We're locked out on purpose." Henry explained, with Will jumping in saying,

"You know, we're all cut off from each other but there's elements of the security system that is still active. It's got to be a targeted attack."

"No. No way. Since we got hacked, our remote security protocols all have triple redundancies now, it's totally not possible." Henry said not believing this could be the case.

"Wait have you got eyes on Natalie Will? You didn't mention where she was." Helen asked after listening to Will, who had explained how he could see all of them currently as he was being shown the feed.

"No, No I don't see her. What could that mean?" He asked.
