Chapter 2
Rhysand
The door knob slowly opened before five fae stepped inside, looking around. I stepped out of the shadows and clocked the first one in the jaw. He stumbled back as two others lept towards me. I sidestepped the first punch before making an attempt to trip one of them, but they jumped back. One punch there. Step back and throw a kick. Get another hit in the jaw….
I jumped back as one of them made an attempt to hit my groin; I hit the side of his head and he retreated back quickly, holding it as blood gushed out. Another one took his place; he was more skilled. I tried to winnow behind him to get a better hit in, forgetting my lack of power. He kneed me in the stomach and I stumbled back, trying to regain my breath.
He moved towards me but I lunged at his legs before he could hit me again; we both hit the ground and I jumped on top of him. As I lifted my fist to make the first punch, Feyre's gasp made me falter, "Get off of him or I'll kill her."
I turned my head. Three of the men were holding Feyre still as a fourth held a knife against her neck. Blood roared in my ears as rage filled me. I had been so focused on getting the ones I was fighting out of the way that I forgot Feyre. I cursed myself as I slowly rose, the one under me scampering away. What in the world did they think I was going to do now?
My eyes skipped to each of them as I tried to think of a way to beat them. "You're going to come with us. Quickly and quietly. No distractions."
Like hell.
Feyre
When four of them had teamed up on me, I knew I was in trouble. It has been a while since I had trained with Cassian, and to be honest I was a bit rusty. I swore, why hadn't I started training again?
Anger melted off Rhys as he stood there considering his options. The room seemed to shake as the man with the knife pressed it a little harder on my neck. Rhys tensed; something moved behind him. He snarled, "If you think that we'll just-"
A large thump sounded before Rhys sprawled to the floor, unconscious. The fae who got away stood over him with a broken chair. Laughter erupted throughout the room and the knife dropped from my neck.
I went to move to Rhys but someone behind me grabbed me. Fighting against his grip, he let go and I stumbled forward into the arms of another one. He laughed into my neck and pushed me to the floor. Anger roared through me as I scrambled to my feet and made my way towards the closest fae to me. Red tinged my vision as I punched him with all of my weight; his nose cracked and blood poured out as he howled in pain. Satisfaction spread through me as I went to hit him again; someone grabbed my arms and twisted them behind my back. I yelped and tried to get free.
A metallic tang filled my senses as my eyelids started to droop. Whoever was holding me let go as I slid to the floor. Everything went blurry before turning into darkness.
