Chapter 3
Feyre
My tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth as I lifted my head. The room spun as I looked around for Rhys. Jurian was sitting on some kind of throne with his five fae guards behind him; the one I hit had a bandage at my nose. Rhys was about fifteen feet away from me, looking at me with concern. I tried to get up but blue chains held me down, Hyberns chains.
A/N- The chains are the ones that they used on Rhysand in ACOMAF when they shot ash at him and Feyre. I don't think they ever gave us a proper name so I'll be calling them Hyberns Chains. If there is an actual name just tell me so I can fix it. :)
My eyes darted towards Jurian as he began, "Well, now that everybody is up… let's start," he smirked, "There has been a pretty steady peace between fae and humans right?"
Rhys snarled, "Get to the point Jurian."
Jurian raised an eyebrow before continuing, "Fine," he said coldly, "The peace between us will deteriorate with time. Eventually, faeries will realize that they have the upper hand over us," Rhys scoffed at him, rolling his eyes while trying to maintain a facade, but I saw through it, I could see his anxiety like it was my own.
"Scoff now Rhysand, but it will happen, and without a wall to separate us there's nothing stopping them."
I bit my lip, we would always be there to stop something like that from ever happening, and if not us… somebody would stop it. I glanced at Rhys before looking back at Jurian, "And what are you going to do about it then?"
He narrowed his eyes at me, "I'm going to raise the wall again."
My mouth dropped a little. That was impossible. The only way he could do that was by using the cauldron… and we had it hidden. Rhys scowled, "How do you plan on doing that?"
Jurian's eyes gleamed, "That's a secret you don't need to know."
I rolled my eyes, "What about us? You must know that we will stop you before this happens, so why tell us?"
He smiled at me, "Because Feyre dear, I will make sure Rhysand is too hurt to do anything and you are too broken."
My eyes widened. He wanted to hurt Rhys and break me… How would he do that?
I clenched my jaw and hardened my stare; Jurian's threats didn't scare me. He stood up, "In fact, let's start with Rhysand shall we?" I watched as the man with the bandage stepped forward and presented Jurian with a long, slightly curved, serrated knife, "Ahh thank you Corbin."
Jurian walked towards Rhys as I was trying to figure out what he could do to hurt him. If I was right, Jurian would hurt him physically. Rhys's wings twitched slightly as I realized what Jurian was about to do.
I tried to speak, but nothing came out. Rhys seemed to realize his intentions at the same time as me because he tried to get up and defend himself, but the chains held him too close to the ground. He tried to push against the force of Jurian's hands, but after a few seconds he was forced onto his stomach. Jurian put a knee on his back as Rhys thrashed. 'N-no, don't," I whispered.
Jurian raised the knife, "Please. Don't!"
He ignored me as he started to cut Rhys's wing; for a second, there was a horrible silence before Rhys started screaming. I sat there powerless to do anything but watch as he screamed in agony, "Stop! Please stop! Rhys! Please…" Tears poured down my cheeks.
My chains went taunt as I tried and failed to get to him. His screaming got louder as Jurian got farther into his wing. I couldn't take this, my heart couldn't take this. My mate, my beautiful mate who loves his wings, was getting them taken away from him, "Please!"
Something warm touched my knee and I looked down; there was blood everywhere. The stench of blood overtook my senses. Jurian's hands were covered in it, the floor glistened red. The left half of Rhys's face was sticky with it. I leaned over and vomited everything I had eaten today onto the floor. When I was able to look back up, Rhys's wing was no longer attached to his body.
Rhysand
Pain. It consumed me, made me forget who I was and why I was here. It soared up and down my back as I screamed the loudest I've ever screamed. No one should be able to scream this loud. In five hundred years I have never endured a pain like this. Distantly, I heard a female shrieking.
Feyre
My throat was raw. I had reduced to a pathetic sobbing, unable to scream, but unable to stay quiet. With a final twitch Rhys's second wing came off and Jurian stood up, a smug smile glued to his face. Rhys was breathing heavily and groaning as Jurian looked down at his work before dropping the knife, "Clean this up and take them away," he waved a hand in dismissal as he started to walk towards the exit.
I lost all control, "I'll kill you!" tears streamed down my cheeks, "You bastard! I'll kill you!"
Hatred burned through me. I'll kill him. I'll kill him if it's the last thing I do. Someone grabbed my arms and I thrashed against them, "You fucking bastard! You knew what his wings meant to him!"
Jurian turned and looked at me, that smug smile still on his lips. I snarled, "You'll pay for what you did! I'll fucking kill you!" I started to sob as they pulled me out of the room, my energy gone.
