Chapter 5

Rhysand

I didn't know when he would come, but I knew he would. There was no way he would be able to resist gloating about his victory. When I was alone, I refused to lay down; I needed to be able to stand quickly when he got here.

Jurian came that night, silently opening the door and leaning against the wall as I forced myself to stand, grinding my teeth and trying to make it one fluid motion. He smirked, looking me up and down, "You look well today Rhysand. When I saw you a couple days ago you were so pale."

Anger coursed through me, "Oh just cut to the chase. What do you want?" I snapped.

His eyes lit up as he laughed softly, "Well. I wanted to see how you were faring. After all, the other night must have been difficult. Honestly I don't know how all the screaming didn't make your throat sore."

I resisted the urge to bring my hand to the base of my neck; when I first woke up my throat hurt like hell, it must have sounded raspy as shit too. I leveled my gaze at him, "So what now Jurian? You got what you wanted with us."

He smiled and shifted his weight, "Now I work on the rest of my plans."

I rolled my eyes, "And these plans are?" I already knew he wouldn't give me anything useful.

He shrugged, "All I'll say is that I need to find an old relic that recently went missing."

My eyebrows shot up. He was looking for the cauldron, but we hid it. He would never find it… unless he got the information from us. What would he do to get it?

"It disappeared after the war, you won't find it," I raised my head.

He shook his head as if this was a game, "Oh Rhysand, if I can't find it I have other plans."

I waited, but he didn't go on. I went through the ways he could get the wall back up. A combination of the High Lord's power should be able to do it, but I knew at least a couple of them wouldn't agree. The war had left the courts in a shaky relationship, would he use that against us? Cause resentment towards each other and have them destroy themselves? No. He wouldn't put in that much energy, "So will you tell me Rhysand? Or are you going to make my life harder?"

I shook my head, "If you think I would help bring the wall back up you're a fool… or maybe you're already a fool for thinking of this stupid plan," I scowled at him.

He picked at a nail, "You know, that's the same thing Feyre said when I asked her," he laughed, "That's hilarious! Well you know what they say, two mates think alike," he laughed harder.

I snarled, losing my patience, "What did you do?"

He looked up at me, surprised, 'I'll guess you'll have to find out Rhysie."

Anger roiled through me and I resisted lunging at him. He was trying to bait me. I strode towards him and leaned down to his eye level, "If you do anything to her I'll personally make sure you'll suffer for it," I growled, baring my teeth.

Sudden pain ripped up and down my back from the quick movement and I winced. Amusement glittered in his eyes, "I'll make sure to remember that when I break her."

Red colored my vision, "Get. Out," my voice was a deathly calm, "Now."

He smiled smugly, "It was lovely to see you. Can't wait until next time," he called as he opened the door.

He snickered as the door shut, but I heard him say to someone, "Get him on more pain medication, he could barely stand up without grimacing."

Resentment and hate raged through me as I sat down on my cot, trying to relieve my pain. Cauldron boil me. I hated him.

A/N- I'm sorry the chapters are so short at the moment, they will be getting longer as the story progresses
