Finally, I did it! Who would have imagined this writing would cause me so many headaches? Thank god I got help, whatever, I don't want to extend this too much, I hope you enjoy this.
Before you start reading, at the end of the whole chapter I will leave some notes that explain certain things said during the chapter. Good? Good! Let's get started ...
Ben 10 and Monster High belong to their rightful owners
Grammar issues ahead (maybe?)
Frankie and Cleo tried to look the calmer possible when the mother of Frankie opened the door and entered, she was a pretty young woman and the like her daughter, was built with different body parts, if you do not have care, could confusing them with sisters given their great resemblance, the most notable difference was that unlike her daughter, the woman had eyes of only one color, these being green.
She wore a semi-formal outfit that consisted of a white shirt and black pants accompanied by black high heels, in one of her arms she carried what appeared to be a lab coat, while the other had several rather messy and threatening papers, with breaking free of her grip and falling to the ground at any moment.
"At last, monstrous home. " commented to herself before noticing the presence of her daughter and her friend. " Oh, you're awake, how was your girl's night out? " she asked with a smile.
Both young women had a small flashback of all the surreal events of the previous night, but they only put on a big smile, Frankie's was much more nervous than Cleo's, but the woman did not seem to notice this detail.
"Excellent, no problems, no aliens appeared. " Cleo mentally slapped her face, but she could not blame her friend, she had little more than a month of existence, lies were not yet her thing.
"That was ... strangely specific Frankie," Viveka commented with confusion, Cleo had to swallow all her negative emotions, mainly directed at the stupid alien, and spoke.
"It was a quiet night Mrs. Stein, but I think Frankie was a bit affected by the Normies movie we saw, it had somewhat grotesque scenes. " Being an expert liar, she was calm at all times, each word came out gracefully and credible enough to fool anyone.
"I see, I warned you that you were not yet old enough to see those kinds of movies young lady. " the monster girl just cower in place, but it launched a "Thank You " to Cleo in a whisper. " And Cleo, please call me Viveka, Mrs. Stein was my mother. "
Cleo nodded respectfully, she knew this woman even before Frankie was created, Viveka Stein, the granddaughter of Doctor Viktor Frankenstein, was a very loved and respected woman in her monstrous community, as well as being a genius and a professor at the University of New Salem, staying on her good side always brought benefits, plus she cooked some amazing Egyptian scarab cakes.
The woman then approached the coat rack that was next to the door and hung up the lab coat, Frankie approached her to help her with the papers she had allowed her arms to rest, which the woman appreciated.
The sound of the family car starting up again and driving off caught the attention of the two teenagers and Frankie wasted no time asking.
" Mom, why did Dad go away again? " she asked with genuine curiosity.
Viveka let out an exhausted sigh and massaged her temples, what was supposed to be a staff meeting at the university had turned into chaos that night, she had had to endure not only her fellow monsters but also the humans who worked there, everyone arguing about what had happened.
"Problems at the university. " She answered exhausted, this caught the attention of both girls. " Apparently, a meteorite out of nowhere crashed into one of the satellites orbiting New Salem and destroyed it, luckily it was a television satellite so it didn't cause much trouble, but it falls on the outskirts of the city, about forty minutes from here. "
Both girls looked at each other with puzzled expressions, that couldn't be a coincidence.
"You didn't notice anything? " she asked. " The whole city noticed it, fortunately as it was early morning no curious ones went to see what it was about, that could undoubtedly be very dangerous. "
Frankie put on a nervous smile at that and tried to simulate surprise and ignorance, Cleo for her part was throwing rays at her eyes, oh she wasn't going to stop reminding him of this.
"You didn't notice anything strange? "
"We-Well, during the night we went out to the garden to see the stars, we saw a shooting star that fell in the forest. " The woman's daughter answered, her bolts released some sparks, revealing her nerves. "We thought it was nothing. "
"As long as you have not had the idea to go check, there will be no problem," she answered and then let out a yawn. " I'll go to sleep a bit, having to put up with humans and monsters intolerant of each other throughout the night has left me with my electricity reserves on the floor, could you take those papers to the study? "
"Sure mom. "
The woman walked away from both of them and went up the stairs, getting lost on the upper floor, when they heard the sound of a room door closing, both young women let out a sigh that they did not know they contained, Cleo then took Frankie by the shoulders and began to shake it.
"I told you this was a terrible idea! "
"Cl- Cleo my seams. " the eyes of Frankie were spinning and she could feel her head spinning through the action of her friend.
" Let's see the shooting star, which could go wrong! " The young woman remedied. " Turns out the alien destroyed a damn satellite! Do you know what this could mean? "
"Uh… that there won't be satellite TV anymore? " she asked innocently, only to flinch into place when she received an annoyed look.
"Don't play innocent with me Stein, do you have any idea the cost of one of those things? If someone finds out that we are hiding who is responsible for this we will have a lot of problems! "
"I know! " She answered, the attitude that Cleo had was beginning to wear her down, the lack of sleep didn't help much either. " But we can not just let him go. "
"No! But we can call the army or something! "
Frankie furrowed his brow at that suggestion, she knew perfectly how intolerant they were humans into monsters, fear that had them, and hatred that existed too, there was a day in which television or the internet did not talk about a crime influenced by that hatred, protests that monsters were in the bigger cities, not to mention the endless idiots who gave opinions even more idiotic, if Upgrade was exposed to the public, will certainly cause a lot of chaos, especially among humans.
She couldn't help but think about her notes, everything she had written about the alien during that night, she had a strange feeling about it, the alien was intelligent, he also had too much knowledge about terrestrial technology and certain topics, an example of this is that when he wanted to give a positive answer he would nod or lift his thumb, and when he wanted to refuse he would shake his head from side to side or cross his arms in an X shape in front of him. Also, there was the fact that he had too much knowledge about everyday actions like watching television.
This led her to wonder if he was an alien or if he was born on earth. Its body seemed to be some kind of liquid metal and magnetized, and it had this strange ability to fuse with technology, maybe it was some kind of extremely advanced robot that was sent into space for some reason and on its way back it ran into trouble and ended up crashing.
Whatever his actual origin, they had vowed to help him, she just hoped all this didn't explode in their faces, as Cleo warned her.
Her thoughts were interrupted with the arrival of her other two friends, who were talking about something if she had to guess it was about Upgrade, as Draculaura seemed to be very impatient.
"I already told you, he will be fine. "
"But what if you are cold? Or if he gets hungry or if ... " her words died in her mouth at the look of her friend. " I'm just saying. "
"Draculaura is an alien, I did not detect any aroma that could indicate that he is eating or even drinking something, perhaps oil since it seems to be all technological. "
"So… does he feed himself by eating technology? We could offer you something, maybe an Icoffin. "
"No one will offer anything to the space monster. " Cleo got into the conversation with enough anger in her voice, she didn't want that creature to join her phone again. "Well? Did they get him to hide? "
"We did, he's behind some trees," said Clawdeen, the sound of her stomach growling resounded in place, she held it with one hand and grimaced in annoyance. "Heavens, this whole one-night stand made me hungry. "
Frankie simply shook her head, of course, Clawdeen was going to be the most relaxed, she had that ability to find everything exciting, caring little if Upgrade was a space monster or not, she envied that carefree way of being.
"Let's make some breakfast and then look for Upgrade, mom said that the whole city saw the crash, they may send someone to investigate, we must hide the ship somehow. "
"Sure, hiding the super spaceship is such an easy task. " The mummy of the group commented sarcastically.
"Cleo, please, take your sarcasm and stick it through in your ... " Frankie covered Clawdeen's mouth, which earned a confused look from Draculaura, the girl made of human parts gave her a reproachful look at that oversight. "I mean, just ... just shut up, okay?" -
Without wasting any more time, the four of them went to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast, they had to eat quickly and then go find Upgrade before someone else went to the place.
They couldn't imagine that the problems were about to begin.
Being a technological and biological entity at the same time, one would believe that things like fatigue or appetite would not be a problem, Upgrade would honestly send them to hell since right now he was suffering from both, which was strange since he did not have a digestive system and the nanomachines that made up his physical structure were self-sustaining.
The alien dropped to the ground and looked at his ship with his only eye, he had managed to remove all the useless pieces, he came across several strange pieces that were embedded everywhere and also removed them, leaving only the functional parts, he had achieved that The ship would transform into its "civil" form, so to speak, an orange and white truck that had on both sides a drawing of a man in a Hawaiian shirt and that said " Max's Plumbing ", when seeing the cartoon of a human the alien could not help but laugh, he still did not understand why that thing was still there, practically all his city knew who was in the truck when it appeared, the camouflage was more than obsolete, but at least it would serve for now.
With this crossed off his to-do list, he went inside the truck, entered through the back door, he had had to remove everything that was there, leaving a space at least a meter wider than it originally was, he went to a metal box that stood out in the place, there were many things, from his anti-gravity skateboard, some video game magazines, some comics and even several CD cases, a sandwich, which according to that greenish color must have more than one month in that place, his beloved limited edition Sumo Slammers figure that his father had given him a few days ago, an old camouflage ID mask, why did he even have that thing there? Anyway, he closed the box when he found nothing useful and went to the cabin, looked in the glove compartment and to his happiness, he found what he was looking for, there was his wallet next to his phone, he took the first one and opened it, the first thing What saw was his identification, in it was a photo of a boy with brown hair and green eyes, and to his misfortune, it had not turned out well in that photo, or any other that he took that day, then looked inside, he pulled out a couple of five-dollar bills and a fifty dollar bill, plus a couple of coins and several cyan crystals that were a hexagonal shape, counted the money, making sure to separate the small stones, if he was in an alternate reality to his own, those things might not be of much use, maybe he could sell them in a jewelry store or something, but nothing more.
His shoulders dropped when he finished counting, there was little more than sixty-five dollars, he had no idea how long was going to be trapped in that place, but he knew that money would not last more than three or four days, when the Omnitrix finally repaired, that could be a problem, but he would deal with it when the time comes.
After saving all the money, he focused his attention on the phone, it was green and had the screen glass broken, the crack started at the bottom and ran to the middle more or less, he tested if it still worked and for his fortune did it, although it only had 20% battery and was not receiving a signal, at least it was still working, if he was lucky, he could get a charger for those kinds of phones.
His attention was directed to a pending notification, when opened it, he saw that it was a text message, he read it without wasting time, it was from his cousin, Gwen, saying that she wished him luck in his mission ... Mission? He did not remember any mission, he looked at the date of the message and then compared it with the current date on his phone, there was a difference of two days, that was strange, he was sure that before ending up in this place, he was in a date with Kai ... talking about…
Strange dizziness hit his mind, he staggered slightly and dropped the phone, his head was killing him, why did it hurt so much to try to remember the day before? He was forced to push those thoughts away, surprisingly, the pain left, he came to a quick conclusion, something had happened to him in the time that had passed, he remembered that before being with Kai, he had had breakfast with his mother and his father, he had told them his idea of getting an own apartment and then he met with his partner, Rook, from here on, his memories were blurrings, what the hell had happened?
He picked up the phone from the floor and looked at it, he had to hold back a groan of annoyance when saw the screen was now even more broken than before, he was going to have to repair that later.
His attention shifted to the device attached to his chest, touched it with a finger, and waited for the device's response.
Omnitrix at 14% capacity. Error. Error. Can not contact Galvan Prime.
He was quite annoyed to learn that it had only increased by 1%, how was it possible? During the previous night it had been repaired and that morning it reached 13% in just 5 hours, it should have risen at least 5% more. Worse still, how could a device classified as technology level 20 take so long to do a systems scan and repair the damage?
He preferred to focus his attention on something else before his patience with that infernal device reached his limit.
He put his phone and wallet back in the glove compartment and sat in the driver's seat, feeling the handlebars a bit with his fingers, figuring out what to do. His circuits lit up when an idea occurred to him, he could go to the city on his own, he had the right camouflage since the Proto truck could pass like any other truck, also, the windows did not allow to see the interior, so none prying eyes would find out.
He rolled down the window and took her head, she scanned around looking for some way to get the vehicle from that place, but his luck was not so good, everything around was a forest, but could leave the place, was the location of the house Frankie, it was on the left, straight ahead, which meant that if he went to the right, he would be away from civilization.
Having oriented slightly, the alien turned its body into liquid and merged with the truck, it trembled and shook changing its shape, its color turned black and the Upgrade circuits lit up in it, then, from the front bumper, two closures Circles that glowed green emerged and began to spin with force.
This was not going to be good for Mother Nature, but he would fix it… eventually.
"Do we really have to go now ?" Clawdeen asked a little enthusiastically as she advanced through the forest, the young woman had a downcast expression and held her stomach. "He's probably fine."
In front of them and walking with more energy were Cleo and Frankie, the first seemed to be muttering things in her mother language, while the second tried to ignore those not holy words.
"Clawdeen, you said you heard saws mechanical and trees falling, perhaps someone already is walking around the place, it will be a problem if they see Upgrade. " replied the daughter of Stein's.
To put this situation into context, in the middle of their breakfast, Clawdeen's highly developed ears picked up a strange sound coming from the forest, but she ignored it at first, she was enjoying eggs and bacon breakfast, nothing was going to keep her from that precious meat, but the sound was constant, similar to electric saws, then came the sound of the trees falling, this made her wonder what exactly it was. She asked Frankie about it, believing that maybe someone was building nearby, but when her friend denied this, none of them wasted time running into the woods except her, but Draculaura came back and dragged her away.
First, they went to make sure Upgrade was hidden when they discovered that the alien had disappeared from his hiding place, Draculaura panicked and bolted into the forest, though Cleo managed to catch her before she went far.
This brought us to the current situation, the girls were again on their way to Upgrade's ship, waiting for the alien to be there.
"Seriously, how are we going to hide that damn thing? " questioned Cleo.
"Leaves and some branches? " Draculaura replied, receiving an annoyed look from Cleo in response, which made her shrink instead.
"We'll think about that when we find Upgrade," Frankie said.
The girls stopped at the edge of the impact site, their eyes widened in surprise and horror when they did not see the ship or Upgrade in the place, there were only an empty crater and some tire marks.
"Well, he's gone, we can go now." Of course, Cleo was going to comment something like that, which earned her three very annoyed looks from her friends. "What? He is gone! Maybe his ship was working and he went back to your planet, it's not our problem anymore! "
"Uh… I wouldn't be so sure about that. " Clawdeen pointed to the side, precisely where the tire marks were, there, a part of the forest had been cut down and formed a path in a straight line to somewhere
"You said you heard saws and trees, right ?" Frankie asked as she walked towards the crater, she noticed then that the tire marks started in the hole where Upgrade's ship had been.
"I did, why? " She asked confused.
"I think I know who did this. " Frankie lifted a piece of orange metal off the floor and turned to her friends. " This is gonna be a problem. "
Cleo was quite angry right now, of course, they were not going to listen to her when she told them that that alien was going to be a problem, of course, they had to be "good ghouls " and help him, what did that lead to? For the stupid alien to disappear and seemingly create a path in the middle of the forest to somewhere. And instead of just ignoring this, pretending that damn night had never happened, the four of them were now running on the felled tree trail and worst of all, she was still in her nightwear! That it was just an old sports outfit, it looked good on her, like everything that became clear, but it was from last season! She couldn't let them see her in that.
"It seems that the road ends over there. " Clawdeen exclaimed in a shout, Cleo observed the werewolf, she was several meters ahead, thanks to her nature, she had much less trouble running around that place, she envied her in that, but she would never admit it.
They stopped at the place where the last tree had fallen, a street was in front of them, no one seemed to be around, but if those tire marks on the asphalt indicated something, Upgrade had taken that road to the city. Great, now everyone was going to see her in that outfit.
Fortunately, though, Frankie sighed in defeat before speaking.
"We'd better get back. "
"What? " exclaimed surprised Draculaura. "Let's leave Upgrade to wander alone? "
"Frankie's right. " Clawdeen took the words. "Upgrade was going into town, this isn't a small place and you know, it will take us hours to find him. "
"But you said it! He may be in danger if someone sees him! "
"Draculaura, we can't do anything now, we just have to trust that he will be fine on his own. "
"But ... " the young vampire looked worriedly towards the city, she couldn't help but be worried, maybe she had only known Upgrade for a few hours, but he was her friend and she didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
The small group started their way back, even so, Draculaura could not stop thinking about her space friend, but she only had to trust him he would not get into trouble.
For be a different dimension where monsters dominated, everything looked pretty normal, of course, if you ignored those pyramids that you could see in the background or that each building you saw was a strange mix of architecture from different periods, Renaissance, Victorian, Gothic, he was sure that he saw a construction quite similar to a Greek pantheon, dear, who could live there? Different types of monsters were in the streets, some were quite similar to humans, but they had extremely pale skin and he was sure that a pair of fangs protruded from their upper lips, there were also some that if he had to pigeonhole in some way they would be werewolves, but it does not end here, every monster that he could imagine, from movies, books, series, whatever, they were there, living their day by day. That was a less ugly version of Vilgax what he had just seen? Gosh, this dimension was definitely strange, was not the stranger that had visited, but entered in his top 10.
Even so, he had to admit, the place looked pretty good, an air of tranquility and peace breathed. That reminded him of the old days before his life was transformed into a sci-fi series or something, not that he was bothered by the change, man, he loved it! Of course, as long as he did not end up trapped in a parallel dimension and with no way to return home, or when there was some invasion that forced him to get out of his comfortable bed or when the smoothies were finished, especially that, he wanted one so much now, but he had to concentrate, he needed to gather as much information as possible about this world, although it could pass as an alien or something like that, he preferred to be in his real form or failing that, as Feedback. Oh, he loved Feedback so much.
By letting his mind wander like that, he did not realize that little by little he was moving away from the monstrous part of the city, the truck traveled down the street until he was forced to take a right turn and enter a roundabout, it was strange to go through that place, he felt a slight tingling in his body as if he had just crossed a kind of invisible barrier, but he played it down.
He still had to go through the other half of the city, curiously, unlike the first part, there were buildings with which he was more familiar, he had to stop at a corner since the traffic light had turned red, here, he could observe Clear differences with the previous part, the main one, there were humans, normal people, adults, children, in suits, with casual clothes, all doing their daily activities. This caused his eye to widen in surprise, he looked around, just to be sure what he was seeing, his brain worked quickly, deducing that in this version of his world, humans, and monsters coexisted and seemed to be aware of each other. since he could also see some monsters around the place.
He was forced to continue when the traffic light changed color, his mind now evaluating all the information he had collected, trying to formulate an action plan, although now he knew that being a human, he could easily mix, there was the problem that those four girls who had known would look him as an alien, which would lead to many explanations that he not necessarily going to give, not that he did not trust them simply did not want to end up with a straitjacket and a padded room.
He continued driving a little more until he reached a park, the place was particularly empty, which was strange seeing that he was again on the border between both sides of the city, one would think that there would be many people here, but he only saw one girl, precisely a monster with green and pink hair, she had an outfit that could be defined as "rock star", it consisted of a sleeveless jean jacket, a black T-shirt with a design of vines with thorns and a black skirt, she was wearing her head resting on her left hand, she was behind a small stall selling flowers and if her bored expression said anything, clearly she didn't want to be there.
He opted to park on the spot, making sure to keep some distance from that flower stand, he didn't need to be discovered yet.
Then, he took off his seat belt and went to the back of the truck, looked in one of the boxes and took out a notepad and a piece of paper, then he sat on the metal floor and began to write, he had to carry one list of things he had learned, he had an excellent memory, he could remember many things just by seeing or hearing them once or twice, but he preferred to be safe in this situation, without wasting time he began to write.
The minutes passed, the occasional sound of a car passing by the vicinity made him lose concentration momentarily but then he returned his attention to the block, at least six written pages were in his hands, with this information collected he could make a plan to mix and not make mistakes I still had to find a way to understand the culture of the place to avoid uncomfortable situations, but that will be later.
He was ready to get back behind the wheel and leave that place, he was sure that, by this point, the girls were very worried about his disappearance. However, before he could do that, he heard something, it seemed to come from outside so he looked through the windshield, his body tensed when he saw that that girl he had seen selling flowers was with her hands up and a thief was at her pointing a gun, his hero instinct was activated in that instant and he went to the back door, but before he opened it, he stopped, he couldn't get out just like that, that would attract a lot of attention, he could save the girl, but then she might think he was dangerous, then she remembered something that he had overlooked before, in one of the boxes was an ID mask, with it he could hide his mechamorph form and go out to help that girl, the only problem he had was that he didn't know what way that thing was configured, it could transform him into a random human or another alien. The scream of that young woman asking someone to stop the thief was enough to make him act, he went to the box, took the mask, and without hesitation put it on his face, and then got out of the truck.
The thief ran at full speed, managing to escape from that vegetable monster girl, he had read on the internet, Grass-type monsters were afraid of herbicides, filling a squirt gun with that was a great idea! Now he had a box full of money, it was his fucking lucky day. He ran until he got to an alley and hid behind some containers, now he just had to open that stupid box and he could enjoy the money.
Without him noticing, a figure entered the same alley and approached the containers.
Then, the thief's face was grabbed by a large black hand and thrown out of hiding.
"Son of a bitch! " exclaimed when he felt the pain, his head spun and he tried to regain consciousness, but someone took the neck of his clothes and pushed him towards a wall, he barely managed to identify green eyes before everything turned black and fell unconscious, courtesy of a powerful right hand straight to his face.
Upgrade observed with annoyance the subject he had just knocked out, without him noticing, he followed him to that alley and when he saw his opportunity, he attacked fast and with force, of course, enough to knock him out and possibly cause short-term amnesia, but nothing else. He looked at his right arm, the camouflage had momentarily failed, which meant that his disguise could be compromised.
He approached the metal box that the thief had dropped and picked it up, he was going to have to return that, his gaze returned to the thug, he had to take this guy to the authorities, so he took him from the back of his clothes and began to pull it, it was not difficult, that guy was quite light.
"Officer, please, you have to do something!" Implored the same young lady who had been assaulted. In front of her were two men in blue suits, one of them had a notebook in his hands and wrote down everything.
"Listen, the thief left, and catching him without a description will be impossible, besides, he has not yet shown me the papers for this position." who spoke was a man, he was an adult of perhaps forty, brown hair and a bushy mustache, one could easily detect that it was being hostile to the young. " I'll have to confiscate this position if you insist. "
"But he can't! It's my mother who works here! " she answered desperately.
"They are the laws, if you have a problem with that go and change them. " He replied condescendingly.
She furrowed her brow, knew perfectly that this guy was messing with her, and the worst is that she could not do anything to him about it, he was law and worse, was a human, if she did something drastic, would cause a big problem.
"Uh … boss. " The second officer caught the attention of the man with the mustache. "Look. "
"What ... " the man with the mustache observed with wide eyes like a young human, perhaps sixteen years old, with brown hair and with a black suit almost entirely, except for some strange green lines that seemed to glow slightly, he was approaching them, in one of his hands he had a metal box with a small padlock, but that was not what had surprised them, in his other hand was the thief who had assaulted the post.
The young monster girl gazed wide-eyed at this, the ease with which that boy was carrying that thug, and most surprisingly, he had brought back the box with the money!
When the young man got close enough, he threw the unconscious human forward and then the toy gun and waited.
Both policemen looked at him perplexed and not knowing what to do exactly, which made him impatient, he pointed his head towards the thief, the second policeman reacted and approached to handcuff him, the policeman with the mustache continues to look at him perplexed.
The boy approached the young monster and handed her the metal box, she looked at him with wide eyes and with some doubt, took the box, receiving a nod.
"Hey boss, it's fake. " Commented the second policeman as he raised the toy gun and pulled the trigger, letting out a small jet of green liquid.
The monster girl instinctively took a step back, which caught the brown-haired boy's attention.
"Assaulted with a toy gun, what a monster you turned out to be. " said mockingly mustache the police, the girl's brow furrowed at that, then his attention turned to the young man, who looked at him with an expression on white. "Looks like you caught a dangerous thief. "
Upgrade arched an eyebrow at the sarcastic way he said it, for him, a thief was a thief, dangerous or not, he should be locked up and prosecuted to receive punishment according to his crimes, what was wrong with that mustache?
"Anyway, you got your money back, and we have the thief, we'll go, and remember, I want those papers. "
The monster girl grunted at that, and both policemen drove off in the patrol car that was parked nearby.
Upgrade stood there looking confused at the whole situation, why was that guy acting that way? His gaze went to the monster girl, she noticed this and looked at him with some annoyance.
"What? " she asked, her tone was slightly hostile, which only confused the boy, had he offended her at some point? "If you expect some kind of compensation for what you did, you can go to hell. "
He blinked in surprise, saw the girl walk away from him and return to the flower stand, there was something wrong here, several questions formed in his mind, but unfortunately he did not have a way to communicate with that girl to get answers ... or maybe if he did?
Wasting no time, he went to the proto truck, this was going to be cumbersome, but maybe it worked.
The young plant monster looked down at the human who had recovered the money, saw him heading to that truck that had parked nearby about half an hour ago, so he was the driver of that thing? How the hell had no one said anything about it? Bah, a human privilege she supposed.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she needed to calm down, that day was her supposed day off, no school, no homework, nothing! Just her and a relaxing gardening session and then cleaning up the park a bit of the trash that humans and monsters left behind, but no! Her mother had to ask her to take care of the stall while she went to town to get some things, it was so boring standing in that place, it was strange that someone would come to buy something, at most an occasional couple who wanted to express their eternal love and bla, bla, bla, she was not a fan of those melodramatic scenes, even worse than boredom, a few hours ago had been a change in the environment, as if the lives of hundreds of trees had done nothing, being a monster with a very strong connection to the earth and plants, she could feel that, which made her angry, some moron, possibly a human, was screwing up the poor environment, even more, if only she could find out who was responsible, she would give him a good punch. She took her thoughts away from that and focused on something else, in about two weeks it would be the homecoming dance that year, a little late if she had to give her opinion since classes had started a month ago, but while she can go, dance, enjoy that night with her friends, it would be perfect.
The tapping of something in front of her brought her out of her thoughts, her eyes opened and looked at the person in charge, it was that boy with brown hair, what the hell was he still doing there?
"What do you want? " she asked with annoyance, her hostility had disappeared, but, even so, she did not stand Normies much, she waited for an answer, but instead, the boy simply took out a notepad and wrote on it. "What? Don't you talk to monsters? " she questioned.
The young man looked at her for a few seconds, as if trying to understand why she had that attitude towards him, she just snorted when she saw him return to his writing.
Shortly after, he handed her what he had written, she looked at the paper with annoyance and mentally read it.
"Have I done something to annoy you?"
That confused her a bit, she looked at the young man, who was waiting patiently for her answer, his green eyes were shining in a somewhat strange way, for some reason, she found them ... beautiful.
"No, it's just a bad day." That was technically true, but also her presence annoyed her, someone could call her racist, but it wasn't that, humans were always idiots with monsters, mostly at least, that one simply tried to talk to a monster was always taken as a pinch of salt.
She could hear the sound of the pen hitting the paper and then the sound of it being cut off.
"That thief didn't hurt you, right?"
She was a little surprised, but could not avoid suspicious of the guy in front of her, she scanned her face for some kind of subtle movement that would indicate that this kid was lying or something like that, but all she saw was a face genuinely worried, which, if she was honest, surprised her.
"I'm fine, it was a scare and having to put up with that pair of idiots who call themselves policemen. " Again the boy began to write.
"They seemed to have something against you"
She looked at him confused, was this guy saying… er … writing? That? His gaze reflected a certain ignorance, which was strange, everyone knew that humans and monsters got along quite badly, at most they interact with a one-meter stick separating them, but nothing more. That had to be a sign of something, was this boy an idiot, or was he just ignorant of the world?
"In against each monster, better said," she replied with annoyance.
"Some kind of racism or xenophobia?"
"Why do you care? You are a human. " questioned, the boy wrote quickly and held out another sheet over.
"I don't care if you're human or monster, you were mugged and I wanted to make sure you were okay, by the way, I'm Ben, nice to meet you."
She did not respond immediately, her brain was trying to process that, her eyes traveled to the boy, who was waiting patiently for her answer, this was, definitely, not what was expected.
"Uh ... thanks, I think, my name is Venus. - he nodded. - You ... don't you mind that I'm a monster? "
"Not at all, I have lived a long time surrounded by different types of monsters, for me, there is no difference"
This wasn't entirely a lie, since he got the Omnitrix and discovered the existence of aliens, he had made countless friends and acquaintances, heck he had even gotten an alien girlfriend for a while, not to mention certain princesses who had a fixation on him, which could be detrimental to his health.
He could see how the monster girl looked at him in perplexity, apparently, the things in this world were not as good as he imagined, officially he was going to need more information.
"Well, I'm glad to know that not all humans are assholes. " She commented with amusement. " Don't be offended. " He shook his head. "But so that the monsters don't bother you, where do you come from? Any mixed community abroad? " He nodded, that was technically true too. "That explains why you can't speak, different language? Anyway, I… thanks for getting the money back, I would have gone after that idiot by myself, but if I hurt him, it is most likely that I was the one who ended up behind bars, I owe you one. "
"Easy, I just did the right thing" she saw him write again. " Anyway, I have to go now, I hope to see you again, Venus"
"Sure, see you. "
The young woman watched as the boy went back to his truck, shortly afterward it turned on and started on his way to who knows where, she couldn't help but think that this human was someone quite unusual, but at least he was not an idiot, she hoped to be able to see him at some other time
"Ugh, I'm exhausted! " Venus was surprised to hear a female voice complain about such a high form, she looked for the origin of it, a small smile formed on her face when she saw a certain group of four monster girls approaching the park.
"You're so exaggerated, we haven't walked for so long," said Clawdeen, receiving a death glare from the mummy.
"We have been two hours! Two damn hours and we don't have a trace of that stupid ...! "
"Cleo " the mummy was silent, Frankie was looking at her with an arched eyebrow, she had to cough to clear her throat, a certain word had almost escaped her.
"As I was saying, we still have no clues, it could be anywhere or maybe it will have already gone to another city! "
"He's close, I know it! " Draculaura added as she looked around. "I feel my friend-sense tingle, trust me. "
"You just made that up! "
Frankie shook her head, this situation was a bit ridiculous, then she noticed the presence of a certain monster girl in the vicinity, who raised her hand in greeting, she approached, she needed to get away from Cleo and her complaints.
"Welcome to the McFlytrap family mobile flower shop, a flower pretty lady? " Asked the plant monster girl playfully, Frankie couldn't help but laugh at that.
"Hello to you too Venus, how is the business going? -"
"There are so many buyers that I can't stop to talk," she answered, a current of wind stirred the plants and carried away the papers left behind by Upgrade. "I want to leave this place as soon as possible. "
"I see, a difficult day? " she asked, Venus just sighed and nodded.
"You can't imagine it, first my mother wants me to impersonate her here, then an idiot comes and robs me, and to top it off I have to put up with two stupid racist policemen. "
"Someone rob you? That's terrible! Are you okay? " she asked worriedly, Venus simply raised her thumb in response.
"Girl, I'm a McFlytrap, I could tear any human to pieces with my plants, too bad that would cause problems. "
"Come on Venus, you know that violence is not the solution in cases like this, you could get hurt or worse. " she scolded, but even so no less worried. "Did they catch the thief? "
"If you wonder if those useless eating-donuts did something, no, it was a human, he appeared walking with the money box and in his other hand was the thief, he was dragging him like nothing! And I'm sure he was twice as big as that boy. " That surprised Frankie a bit.
"Was it a monster in disguise or something? " Venus just shrugged her shoulders, she couldn't give an answer to that, but she had felt something strange in the boy, she couldn't say exactly what.
"I don't really know, he couldn't speak, I think he was a foreigner or just a mute, those sheets down there are his. " The young woman pointed a finger towards the ground, there were all the pages that Upgrade had written and torn during his talk with her, Frankie bent down to pick them up, she knew that Venus did not appreciate much that the environment got dirty that way. "He left shortly before you arrived, strange guy if you ask me. "
Frankie nodded while reading what was written there, apparently, a human with a good heart had run into her friend, a pity that she could not meet him.
"Hey, why Clawdeen and Cleo are fighting now? " the question of Venus forced to Frankie looked back at her friends, as she had said, the two were arguing again, could only guess the reason this time, she felt a little sorry for Draculaura who tried to stop Clawdeen and failing.
"It is a long and possibly very surreal story. " was her reply. " A ... friend of ours disappeared and we are looking for him. "
"Cleo tried to subjugate him under her rule and escaped terrified or something? " she asked jokingly.
"Believe it or not, he was brave enough to cover her mouth." -
"Geez, it sounds like someone who is not afraid of anything, how does it look? Maybe I saw him, although I don't promise anything. "
"Well, he's ..." Frankie hesitated for a few seconds whether or not to say something, he couldn't simply describe Upgrade, he was tall, black and green, and one-eyed, which would certainly set off some alarms. " He's got a black and green suit, he's uh ... like this tall. " she raised her hand to be a couple of centimeters more above his head.
"That sounds like the human who caught the thief. " the plant girl commented surprised, Frankie looked at her confused, that was a coincidence or Venus was playing a joke. "He had a white and orange truck, I think I saw a ... cartoon of an Old man with a Hawaiian shirt? " The girl tried to remember what she had seen, but it is not as if she had paid much attention to it. " Anyway, if he had brown hair, green eyes, and a very strange black suit with bright lines, it almost looked like something out of a science fiction movie, he went in that direction, although I doubt they will reach him by now, he looked rushed. "
"I see ... " Frankie analyzed the words said by her friend, that description could not be a coincidence, monsters could easily pass for humans, for example, werewolves could transform into both humans and wolves, perhaps Upgrade had a similar ability to camouflage or something. "Do you remember anything else? "
"Nothing important, but he seemed kind enough, he didn't care that he's a monster. "
"Thanks for telling me this, see you later. "
"I'll see you tomorrow at school, that's if my luck doesn't turn against me one more time. "
Frankie walked away from Venus and returned to her friends, who, to no one's surprise, were still arguing.
"For the last time, we are not going to put Upgrade in a trash can! " Draculaura exclaimed in annoyance.
"At least if we put him in there he wouldn't escape! " Cleo answered.
"Why to me? " complained Clawdeen as she shook her head, it was amazing as an argument that had begun between her and Cleo it had become one between Cleo and Draculaura, fortunately, noticed that Frankie returned to them. " Hey, sparks, a hand around here? "
"Girls, I think I have something. " That statement was enough for Draculaura to stop paying attention to Cleo, who got even more upset by this, and look at Frankie, the monster girl then showed them the leaves she had obtained from Venus.
"What are they? " Clawdeen asked as she took one and read it. " Who is Ben?"
"Upgrade was here, or so I think, Venus said something about a human boy in a black suit with bright green lines. "
"And why should we care about the fashion choice of a Normie? " Cleo questioned crossing her arms.
"I don't think it was a Normie, she also said that the boy caught a thief who assaulted her and brought him back holding him with only one hand, at no time did he speak and communicate with her with these notes. "
"Oh! Just like Upgrade did to me when I met him! " Draculaura exclaimed, drawing the attention of her friends.
"Wait, all this time, did you know that the big boy could write in English and you didn't say it? " asked a very distraught Clawdeen. " Could we have done writing to communicate more easily! "
"None asked me! " she defended herself, although yes, it was stupid of her to skip that detail.
"Girls, focus. " ordered the Frankenstein girl. " Venus gave me a description, a boy, brown hair, green eyes, she also said he had a truck with him. "
"A truck? Where in the hell did he get a truck from? " questioned Clawdeen.
"Well, your alien friend can merge with the ICoffins, maybe he did the same with his ship and transformed it or something. " Cleo received three rather puzzled looks. " What? " asked confused.
"She said something smart, Draculaura, are you sure your Alien friend is not capable of brainwashing or something like that? " questioned Clawdeen, the mummy just furrowed her brow, she had just called stupid?
"I don't know ... but I'm already scared. " The vampire replied, now officially Cleo was outraged, she was not simply exorbitant beauty, she could be smart if she needed it.
"Girls, this is not the time, we must find Upgrade. " at least Frankie wasn't looking down on her. " Then we will focus on possible brainwashing. "
"Oh, come on! " The mummy complained loudly, making her three friends laugh at her expense. " Yes, yes, very funny, don't we have a stupid alien to find? "she asked.
For the rest of that day, the four girls tirelessly searched for Upgrade, but unfortunately, they couldn't find him, finding the dice in his supposed camouflage only made things more difficult.
They looked for him until late in the afternoon, the sun was soon to set and the sky had been covered in orange and pink color, they decided that it would be best to stop, most likely Upgrade had already left the city, this saddened Draculaura, but Clawdeen managed to comfort her.
Frankie was separated from her friends shortly after her house was in the opposite direction from them anyway, all the way did not stop thinking about Upgrade and the ease with which seemed handled almost no longer had doubts, that The supposed alien must have definitely grown up on the earth, unfortunately, the only one with those answers had left.
Upon arriving home she was greeted by her mother and by a strong burning aroma, apparently, her father had once again tried to make coffee with the coffee maker they owned, that one of the greatest geniuses of that time had so many problems with simple appliances it was quite ironic.
That night she dined at most fast as she could and went to her room, was exhausted and wanted to sleep, she closed her eyes and flew into the arms of Morpheus.
Later in the night, a tall figure that glowed slightly green jumped from the forest undergrowth, his feet tapping softly on the grass of the place, leaving circular footprints. Silently, he walked in the direction of the back door of the house and tried to open it, but could not. Although this did not deter him, his body turned into a puddle of liquid black and managed to squeeze through the space that was under the door, crawled across the floor, careful not to collide with anything, once inside, his body returned to his original shape again, he advanced little by little, illuminating his way thanks to the fact that his single eye was capable of projecting a light powerful enough to compete with a flashlight. Of course, this did not prevent him from taking one of the sofas in the living room ahead, tripping and falling to the floor.
He got up quickly and looked around, luckily no one seemed to have even noticed his presence, now he just had to go up to the top floor and ...
The lights of the place came on, blinding him momentarily.
Their sound receivers caught a gasp, he quickly turned to the source of this, coming from the stairs, he was visibly relaxed when he saw that it was just Frankie ... but looked a little older than he reminder, and her hair was different … And her eyes weren't heterochromes.
That wasn't Frankie, right?
"A thief! " Shouted the woman, he tried to raise his hands and get closer to avoid misunderstanding, but this was not well received, the bolts in her neck released powerful electric shocks and before he knew it, a charged fist full of electricity hit him in the face.
It was as if a truck had hit him head-on, added to the electricity, it did a lot of damage. He must have imagined that something like this would happen if he sneaked in like that, it was not one of his best plans.
Viveka watched with fear and surprise as the supposed thief fell backward and his body was transformed into a pool of black liquid with green lines.
The sound of altered footsteps was heard shortly after, she turned towards the stairs, where she saw her beloved daughter accompanied by her husband, they both looked very worried, she swallowed nervously, how was she going to explain that she had just melted someone?
And that's it, fuck, I need a vacation ... leaving how melodramatic I can be, I hope you liked it, you know you can leave your criticism and whatever you want, I like to read it, and as I said up there, I will leave some notes clarifying certain things.
-Notes-
1- Let's talk about Viveka, in the series she is not seen, even less in the movies, except in the books on which MH is based, mention is made of her and Viktor Stein, both being the grandchildren of Doctor Viktor Frankenstein, no his sons, that is, Frankie is the fourth generation and not third as seen in the series/movies, she is also quite loved among the monsters, she is a professor at Salem University with her husband, which explains why Cleo knows even before meeting Frankie.
2- Upgrade and his abilities, in the series it has been seen that the Galvanic Mechamorphs have the ability to fuse and improve at will all the technology with which they fuse, Azmuth while using the Retaliator Armor, showed that in addition to improving, the Mechamorphs are capable of repairing any technology as long as they possess the parts, in Ben's case, the Proto Truck was in a pretty bad state, in addition to missing parts, he had to discard parts and work with what he had, leaving it in its civil form.
3- Continuing with the things about Upgrade, one of the ways to damage it, in addition to electricity, acid, and heat (electromagnetic fields and magnets can also damage him), if he is attacking while he is fused with something, this damages its body with enough Ease, a direct hit against a satellite while it is trying to regain control of his ship is enough to stun him I think.
4- Another thing that I have also named is the upgrade of nanomachines, technically, he is not a "one" but a kind of hive of nanomachines capable of self-replication and self-sustainability, but at the same time he is a biological being, he has DNA programmed in each nanomachine.
5- About what happened with the ID mask, which left Upgrade's arm uncovered for a few seconds, those things are not perfect, literally a flash from a certain position is enough to show whatever is wearing the mask at that moment. The mask he wears is old and not entirely safe, it does not completely hide his real appearance, as the clothes he supposedly wears look too much like his body.
6- About the herbicide, I'm not entirely sure that Venus and any other plant-type monster can be considered a weed, but those chemicals would certainly do a lot of damage. Also, as I investigated, the family of Venus owns a flower shop, where I put that it is a small cart with flowers not like the shop itself, if not as an extension of it, maybe it will appear again, maybe not, I'll see that later.
7- About the attitude that the police and Venus have, it is made very clear that humans and monsters do not love each other very much, in the books the monsters had to hide their qualities all the time, and I mean, literally all the time, Deuce wore a cap, how did no one ever question that? Who knows. The attitude that both policemen have with Venus is quite usual between humans and monsters, the same happens with Venus, who gets annoyed with the mere presence of Ben there, accept it, anyone gets in a bad mood if is constantly harassed by someone.
8- This has gotten out of hand ... about Ben and his actions, we all agree that Ben does not think much before acting, see, getting into an ice cream truck as a child, his accidental break up with Julie, when almost causes two species to kill each other, when he tried to infiltrate as Wildvine in Fistrick's group, when he again causes 2 species to almost kill each other, see the Upchucks, though Rook got involved here too. Do I think they understand me? He's not mindless, he just doesn't overthink his plans most of the time.
9- And, to finish, Viveka's coup, has anyone ever experienced panic and adrenaline at the same time? An electrically charged right hand from a monster sends anyone to the other neighborhood.
10- I have nothing, but I wanted to get to 10, did you know that the Upgrade race can generate energy constructions and create a cannon in its arm? Although I'm not sure Ben can do this, his transformations, save for 2, are not pure Aliens, I'm going to investigate that better.
With all that said, I hope I don't have to do this too often, it's more work that I don't want, but that I like.
See ya!
I just hope this time it doesn't take another fucking month to upload something…
