Once I managed to get the address, I shipped my things to my new place, I followed a day later, on my dad's private plane. One might ask how a half-demon like me, might be able to travel around unnoticed in a sea of humans who believe that the supernatural is a thing of myth or legend, well I have a fox magic enchanted fang necklace.
I had a modest little house, it was quite cozy unlike the echo-ridden halls of dad's mansion, just a two-bedroom, one-bathroom house, with a kitchen and living room obviously. I decided to make the second bedroom into an office.
I was working on setting up the kitchen when someone knocked on the front door. I went over and peered out of the small window in the door, there was the chief of police. I rolled my eyes. But I opened it.
"Hello, I just saw the moving truck and just thought I would greet our new resident and my new neighbor." the chief greeted
"Hello" I greeted back in fluent English, I had a load of time to study different things and languages just had to be one of my favorites. "I'm Aurelia, but you can just call me Lia."
"Charlie Swan. I happen to be the chief of Police here in Forks," he replies, he looked past me and was trying to see if I had parents nearby.
"Can I help you? I was just unpacking." I ask pretending to be curious. I was getting irritated.
"Are your parents home or are they at work?" Charlie questions
"Neither, sir. I am legally emancipated from them." I answer, technically it is true since we did file the proper paperwork for the humans. "I bought this house from a trust fund in my name that I can access."
Charlie nodded but, I could tell he would look into the matter later.
"I'm assuming as the local authority here, you would like to know if I am registered at the high school?" I answer "I registered just last week via phone call."
Charlie processed suggested that once I'm settled to come over and introduce myself to his own daughter. I wasn't here to make friends. I was sent here to figure out the strange beings that lived in the same town as me.
I agreed only to get this human to leave. growling under my breath, I went back to unpacking.
Pretty soon, the new school started. I made some progress in my research. there was wolf scent down at La Push and I even found prints. they were huge. I wrote all about it in a file. I wasn't going to send it just yet, I needed more evidence.
Now I had to be the new girl. an oddity, I woke up on the first day of school, took a shower, and got dressed in stone-wash jeans and an old rock band shirt. I didn't really care what I wore. I was not on display here. I grabbed my leather trench coat from the closet and put it on, heading out to the garage, I rolled my motorcycle out.
Charlie nearly had a fit when he saw that bike parked outside on the street. Isabella or Bella as she liked to be called explained that a former friend ratted her out with her own motorcycle because he was jealous of something.
I was just starting the engine on the bike when a shiny Volvo pulled up next to Bella's house, I turned while reaching for the helmet, I didn't want to wear but my neighbor was the chief of police. I couldn't afford a ticket. I watched as a bronze-haired teenage boy got out and waited by his car. Bella all but ran out of the house and greeted the boy with a smile on her face. so that must be the boyfriend that Charlie doesn't trust.
The wind shifted, and I almost gagged on the scent. It was sickeningly sweet, I finished getting ready, pulled out of the driveway, hit the gas, and went in the direction of the school.
I got to school early, I was just putting my helmet into the saddle bag when the Volvo pulled into the spot next to mine.
I turned slightly.
"I didn't know it was your first day here," Bella states as she got out of the car.
"I would have just preferred to stay home but it was one of the conditions for emancipation set by my parents. They're busy people, they just don't have time to raise a kid." I answer as I grabbed my backpack.
The classes were boring, and a lot of people were trying to get my attention. But I wasn't allowing that.
I was sitting at an empty table at lunch, but it didn't remain that way for long. My table now consisted of Bella, Edward, his sister Alice and a few humans that I didn't care about.
I was trying hard not to gag on Alice and Edward's scent, I couldn't remember if I ever smelled such a horrible smell before.
Alice was watching me like she couldn't figure out what I was. I grabbed my tray and dump into the trash. I am getting tired of this game. I needed answers and I need them as soon as possible.
I went outside and dialed my father's number. I explained what I smelled and how it was making me sick.
Little did I know, two golden-eyed teens could hear every word, I spoke.
