Chapter 2- The Good Guys
Adeleine San, or better known as Agent 3- and many other less forgiving titles- sat on the couch outside Cuttlefish Cabin, Zapfish plushie in her lap… She was sharpening her knife. It was getting a bit dull just with the everyday use, like cutting a loose thread from her jacket or opening a can of food- and she needed it ready for the occasional impromptu surgery or the… actually, using it. That was rare though. Rarely was she ever without at least two ink weapons. Much more ethical, especially if the enemy had a spawnpad. (Also that is, a working spawnpad- she knew the guilt of taking lives without such luxury- but now isn't the time to open up the old wounds of her trauma.)
She was pretty busy at the moment, but always on alert- so she would notice if someone were to come in via launch pad or any grate. Or, even from the kettles…
But of course, just like clockwork, someone comes through one of the grates. Despite wearing some kind of thin bandanna, the reflective bands would suggest they aren't particularly trying to be stealthy nor discreet. They're not actively armed, either, their bow resting on their back.
Now, lil Chips here was informed of a partnering agency, and was sent to come check it out- so tadaa! He's here! And this place looks cool!
Ado looks up- (and quickly pushes the plush out of her lap.)
Yes, the New Squidbeak Splatoon was informed a new agent was coming today, sent from the Splatlands. Of course Agent 4 would miss it. And oddly, the Cap'n would too. That's why it was good he was here.
"Agent 7, I presume?"
"Yep! You can just call me Chips if the number thing is a bit too formal though- Anyway, you're..?" He steps off the grate and onto the concrete, rocking on his heels a little.
She thought about it. Chips…. kind of an odd name. But she didn't really care what his name was, as long as he could help them out..
"3. Ado." She sheaths her knife, and gets up. "This is our base of operations, so… feel free to get comfortable, I guess. But not too comfortable."
"Alright, sounds cool! Nice to meet you, Ado!" He offers a handshake, pulling the thin bandanna off his face to reveal the cute smile he had underneath.
She… takes the handshake, actually. You could learn just a little bit about a person based on a handshake. And it looks like this is gonna be another 4. Still, she didn't underestimate 4. She wouldn't underestimate this one, either.
…This girl thinks too much, doesn't she.
"I'm sorry our Captain couldn't be here for your briefing. He's currently…" Did she trust him enough to share that information yet? No, not really, he could be a spy, but- he'd have to know anyway. "I've located him in the Deepsea Metro, and plan to make contact soon."
He blinks a little, with what he heard about the Metro and the company run down there, that didn't sound… good. Especially for someone on the older side.
"Oh- that's fine that he couldn't be here, then! I'd assume it'd be quite the journey back up..." He tries to make light of the situation. Hopefully, their Captain was alright…
Ado's already having her own dread, both with personal experience and personal relationships. He better be alright, or…
She whips around pretty dramatically, heading back towards the cabin. "Just don't engage with the Octarian over there and you'll be fine."
Said Octarian being in a snow globe. How could someone with the same curious energy as a 4 not? She didn't know, Mint would often come just to mess with him-
Chips, of course, glances over at the snow globe, incredibly confused as to why there's Octavio in a snow globe just chillin' there, but… okay. Maybe if he got bored later he'd talk to him, but it feels a little patronizing to the one already in a snow globe, so he'd listen to the Stand-Offish but Cool Agent until then.
"Okay, won't do then!"
She glances back at him, and nods, before heading inside. And you couldn't be sure… but it looks like a small smile graced her lips. He would be… alright, she decided. Easy to work with. But all in all, not bad.
She'll need to know more about him soon.
