Bonus Chapter #2 Cassian saving Rhys (Chapter 14)

I shot after Azriel, panic and dread threatening to take hold of me. He drifted to the side, going for Feyre as I locked in on Rhys. His chains pulled taunt as he screamed and cursed at Jurian, who was laughing and ranting about something.

I sneered as I slammed onto the floor behind Rhys; Jurian blanched at the sight of me and Feyre's screaming ended. I threw a look over my shoulder at Az, relieved to see him helping Feyre before turning my attention back to Rhys. Blood trickled down his back; my hand shook as I touched his shoulder, realization and shock roaring through me, "Rhys?"

He spun, eyes wild with clenched fists. His mouth dropped and he took a step back as his lips moved, but no sound came out.

"Rhys… what did they do to you?"

Jurian backed up a couple of steps, trying to make a slow getaway- "Save Feyre… go… please Cass, please! Please!" Rhys begged.

Oh no. He wasn't okay. Mother above, what had Jurian done? "Az is getting her, she'll be fine."

He shook his head as Lucien winnowed behind him and grabbed Jurian before winnowing away. He spun looking at the place Jurian had been standing before he turned again and looked over the balcony as Az shot towards the sky.

His eyes darted around the room frantically, nothing but horror reflecting off of them. The starlight that was once flecked in his eyes was no longer there, and my breath hitched as he turned towards me, "You don't understand… You don't know what she's gone through! You don't know!" his voice breaking as he trembled.

I've never seen Rhys like this, so… hysterical, and it scared me. Fuck, he was scaring me. I shuddered, trying to fight against the tears threatening to spill over, and moved forward to hug him tight, he groaned but didn't move until I let go.

Backing up a step, He looked me over as if he couldn't believe I was here. "You guys are getting out of here. Both of you are free, and both of you will recover," I said.

"How do you know?"

"Because you and Feyre are the strongest people I know," a ghost of a smile made its way onto my face.

His shoulders slumped as his eyes rolled up to the back of his head and he pitched forward. "Shit!" I cursed as I caught him, seeing how much blood had dripped onto the floor.

My siphons flared as shields surrounded his wounds; I should have been aware of how much blood he was losing.

I picked him before shooting in the sky, the dread I had felt initially getting here increasing. Those back wounds… did Jurian cut off his wings? No. That was ridiculous, but… something was telling me otherwise.
