"Gin, you awake?" Harry whispered into his girlfriend's ear. He pulled her closer to him so that she could hear him better.

"Yeah, I am. What is it?" Ginny whispered back.

"I just realised I don't have any condoms with me. Not that we need them right now, but do you have some, just in case?"

"Condoms?" Ginny asked confusedly, "What are those?"

Harry's cheeks flamed. "You know," he struggled to explain, "Pieces of rubber to prevent pregnancies and stuff."

"You can prevent pregnancies? How did I never know this?" Ginny wondered out loud.

"Didn't you get the safe sex talk? I know Hogwarts doesn't do anything like that- I have no idea why- but not even at home?"

"Not exactly a safe sex talk," Ginny responded, "More like how babies are made and why you shouldn't have sex before marriage."

"Huh, I get it now," Harry muttered to himself.

"Get what?" asked a curious Ginny.

"Why your parents had seven children, and my parents had me at 20. They obviously didn't know that there was a way to prevent pregnancies. I wonder why that is, though."

"Probably because the wizarding population is comparatively low to the muggle population," Ginny suggested," If people realise that there is a way to stop having babies, other than not having sex, population growth would be slow."

"True," Harry responded. There was a beat of silence as they both contemplated what to say. This was an uncomfortable topic.

Finally, Ginny asked," So, should we both get some...condoms?"

"Yes, please," Harry replied, "I'm not ready to be a father yet."

Ginny smiled. "Okay. G'night, Harry."

"G'night, Ginny."
