Chapter 2
Zoe's POV:
The teacher continue with the lecture, having everyone shift their attention away from me for now which was a relief. That's when I noticed an oddly familiar boy sitting next to me staring intently. At first, I did the normal thing and ignored it, but I wasn't a normal girl. I shut my notebook and turn my head towards him.
"You know, it's rude to stare."
"Really? You think so?" He asked, an amused grin spreading across his lips. "And why is that?"
I sighed inwardly, I didn't feel like wasting my time talking to him. I should be focusing in class, I wouldn't want to fall behind specially on my first day of school. Besides it's not like he'll keep staring for the entire class.
I spoke too soon….
25 minutes has past. Yup only 25 whole minutes that I've been squirming uncomfortable in my seat. Why you asked. Well, I glanced his way again. He was STILL watching me. I gave him a hard stare. but his expression did not change. Could this guy get any more annoying?
"Will you stop that?" I said exasperatedly, getting rather frustrated with the guy.
He gave no answer instead he slightly tilted his head and gave me a questioning look, acting innocent like he doesn't know what I was talking about. His eyes never leaving mine and his smile almost never leaves his face. He obviously was doing it on purpose.
"Quit it!"I exclaimed, a little too loud this time. Everyone turn they're attention back on me. Great.
"Is there something you want to share with the class Ms. Orimoto?" Ms. Yamaguchi
"I...w-what-..no." I splutter, completely mortified.
"Then maybe you want to come up to the board and solve the equation."Ms. Yamaguchi pressed further. She motioned for me to stand up again. I knew that this was indeed a form of punishment just slightly more embarrassing.
"I..err..yeah okay." I nervously walked up to the front of the room.
"What th-!" That brought my body to a cringing halt, as I picked up the crumble paper that was thrown at me and unwrapped it.
I shot daggers at him. Once I realized where I've seen him. He was the same jerk who ran me over with his stupid bike this morning.
"What's wrong?"
"Uh. Nothing."
The last thing I needed was another bad record.
In the end Ms. Yamaguchi noticed that I had no clue what I was doing. She sent me back to my seat. Calling out another student who actually knew the problem to take my place.
"Hey no hard feelings right."
He was sitting on my right snickering behind his hand. Lowly a formed a smug smirk on his face. He chuckled slightly.
That's it!
I stomped his foot under the table. Satisfied when he let out a yelp of pain and turned back to face the board, ignoring his presence for the rest of the lesson.
The more I got to know this guy, the more I dislike him. I am so going to get him for this.
Takuya's POV:
The bell ringed.
Blondie couldn't wait to get as far away from me as possible. I couldn't really blame her. I wasn't exactly behaving my lovable charming self.
I just wanted to see if she was worth chasing after. If she ranked high enough I'd put her on my radar, line her up with the other girls I wanted to add to my list. Honestly, she was a five, not good enough. The Blondie simply didn't meet my standards.
"What are you going to do?" I heard Koji asked me as we walked downstairs to
"About what?" I shrugged pretend to be clueless, but I knew what he was referring to.
"The new girl."
"Nah. I'm going to have to pass." I replied without hesitation.
"Seriously?" Kouji seemed unconvinced.
"TAKUYA!" I froze in spot.
I glance at Kouji giving a message 'Who is it?' He then mouthed a name 'Yagami Hikari.'
I sighed at my problem.
"Good luck man. It looks like you'll need it. She seems pissed." He teased. Leaving me to deal with her alone.
I was personally offended at his remark.
"Geh. Thanks." I sneered.
I didn't turn around until I heard Kari approaching.
"Hey beautiful." I was leaning in to kiss her but she stopped me. Kari stare at me in distain.
"Oh, don't you hey beautiful me! You got a lot of explaining to do." She demanded crossing her arms while she's at it.
"What are you talking about?" I was trying to put on this 'I swear I'm innocent look', but unfortunately Kari wasn't buying it.
"Yolei told me she saw you leaving Matt's party last night with another girl? Is it true? Are you seeing another girl! Answer me!." Kari started tapping her foot.
I simply rolled my eyes in mild annoyance of the accusations and sighed. Didn't I already have this conversation this morning..no wait that was Sora. I think, who cares. I brushed past her, letting Kari know that I didn't feel like arguing with her.
But I've should of known Kari wasn't going to let it go until she gets answers for me.
"Takuya! don't walk away from me." She blocked my path.
"Why would I be with someone else? You know that you're my one and only girl." I told her, but my heart wasn't really in it. Since this is the second time I've said this. Sora seemed to believe me, maybe it will have the same effect on Kari.
"But you did leave with her." She stated the obvious.
There was no convincing her. And that meant that I'd have to figure out another way to get out of this.
"Yes Kari, I took a friend home. Is that a problem?" I retorted. trying to keep my cool. The last thing I needed. She scoffed.
"No. Why did have to be you? Doesn't she have other friends to take her home?" She commented
"What you don't trust me?" I held her hand a reassuring squeeze, she thought for a moment.
Kari face was unsure and frowned. "I-I don't know." She said in barely a whisper.
"Well, if you can't trust me, then maybe we should break up." I responded as I gave her a fake disappointed look and walked away.
It was pretty lame threatening to leave her, but I knew it would work.
This seems to catch Kari by surprise. "No..No I'm sorry, I don't want to break up. I trust you completely. Look I'll make it up to you." Kari was quick to protest.
I pursed my lips and said. "How?"
"Hmm...I'll buy you new cleats after school to make it up to you for accusing you." She gave me apologetic smile.
She allowed me to let the thought sink in. I looked at her; I wasn't too interested by her offer. Until she then spoke again.
"And I can also buy anything you want."
An unconscious thought crossed my mind. I smirked. I can make her buy me a very expensive leather jacket that I wanted to buy for weeks.
"I can't go after school. I have soccer practice all week." I sighed heavily.
"Oh. How about the weekend?" She asked her tone soft and sweet.
I may have agreed to go with Kari, but there was no way I would give in so easily. I'm Takuya Kanbara. Most popular and beloved in this school not to mention handsome. She need to put on a lot of effort.
"Sorry, I have plans." I countered.
"Okay then let's go now." She wishfully suggested.
"You're saying you want to ditch class?" I asked, this sparked my curiosity.
I'm not going to lie, it took me by surprised that she's willing to skip class with me. It was so unlike her. But I have to admit, I was intrigued.
"Yeah, but we'll be back during lunchtime." Kari concluded,
"Sure. Just one problem I didn't bring my car to school." I played along.
My dad has the worst timing taking away my car as punishment for not honoring my curfew.
"No worries. I have a car."
"Since when did have you car?" I raised an eyebrow.
Unlike me, Kari's parents is against her having her own car being overprotective and all. They're afraid she gets into an accident. Sucks to be the youngest sibling in they're home.
"Who said it was mine?" Kari innocently replied.
I was used to this new trait of Kari.
If Taichi found out, his brotherly instances would kick in and come after me for being a bad influence on his little sister. Not that I'm scared of him, between the two of us I was confident that I can take him on.
"I knew the second I saw you, you were trouble." I laughed.
"Funny I thought the same way about you. Just means we're perfect for each other." She smiled slyly.
"Point taken." I also found myself smiling as I brushed my lips against her. "Let's go."
Kari simply nodded, grabbed hold of her hand and started heading the school exit.
