Once again it was a silent night in the charming house. Snow was angry, once again David was working late. She had already put the baby to sleep and was going over to the kitchen for some tea, that's when the noticed the mug. Ever since her daughters death David would leave a hot chocolate with cinnamon on the counter before leaving for work, and everyday she would clean it up so it was gone by the time he got back. Neal got an ear infection today, so she had been distracted and must have forgot to clean it up. As soon as she finished washing the mug her husband entered through he door.
"Hey honey," he said walking over to kiss her on the cheek. He was about to leave when she grabbed his arm and finally stopped him. "Charming wait. We need to talk." He seemed a little taken aback by this and also eager to get out of the situation, "Can it wait I have an early day tomorrow."
"No, it can't David, everyday is an early day and I'm tiered of it" she said clearly fed up with his behavior. "You want to leave hot chocolate on the counter every morning fine! I will gladly clean it up! You don't want to take over as sheriff yet, fine! But what is not fine, is leaving at six in the morning and coming home at two."
"It's work" he countered.
"It's insane and it's not healthy!" she sighed and rubbed her forehead with her hand briefly before continuing. "I am you wife for god's sake, our daughter just died and I need you and you're not here, and all I'm asking is for you to talk to me!" He was pushed into reality and his first instinct was to get out, but he didn't listen.
"Okay, okay we can talk, do you want some tea or something?" He said calmly.
"Yeah, thanks, but I'll make it, you just sit." She then went to get the tea bags, "Crap," she muttered.
"What is it?"
"Nothing, we're just out of tea bags, it's fine though don't worry I'll get some tomorrow."
He completely ignored her and went to get his jacket, "No, you want tea, I'll get you tea."
"David, it is three in the morning, we do not need tea."
"Really I don't mind, it'll only take ten minutes." he was about to leave the door when Snow shouted, "Hey! It's three in the goddam morning, where are you going to find tea."
"I don't know I'll figure it out!"
"Why, why won't you let yourself stop for one minute?"
"Because if I stop I have to think about it!" She didn't know what to say, she was so focused on her own feelings she didn't even think on what he was feeling, she sat down on the stairs as he paced infront of her running his hand through his hair. "I can't, I can't think about it," he said, his voice on the verge of breaking.
"Talk to me, please" she begged moving to the side so that he could sit, he didn't.
"It's all my fault" he whispered.
"David, in no way is this your fault."
"No, don't give me that crap," he said turning to face her, tears not pooling in his eyes, "She was my daughter, my little girl, I'm supposed to protect her!"
He finally gave in and sat down next to his wife and let his tears fall out and into his hands as he moved his head from sided to side. "I couldn't protect her, not when she was a baby, not now. And now we won't find her because she's gone and I couldn't protect her, I failed."
"Hey, listen to me," she said rubbing his back with one hand and holding his arm with the other, "you didn't fail her, and you protected her in so many other ways. None of us could have stopped her, she was way too stubborn to let herself be saved" she said firmly letting out a small chuckle at the last sentence.
/10 min. before Killian asked Henry to move in/
Killian knocks on the door nervous as to what comes next, Snow opens the door surprised to see the pirate standing in front of her. "Killian," she breathed out confused "Wha- what are you doing here? I mean come in, come in." she stepped aside to let him in.
"I uh, I uh wanted to talk to the lad, I checked with Regina and she told me he would be here, so".
"Okay, yeah he's upstairs, but actually, would you mind if I talked to you for a minute?"
"Not at all," they sat on the couch next to each other and sat in an uncomfortable silence for a few seconds while she composed her thoughts. "Listen, I've been thinking and, I want to have a funeral." Killian was taken aback be this, "Fu- funeral?"
"Yeah, for Emma, I just thought it's been two weeks and it would be nice to have a proper goodbye for her," He just stared and the floor, "I wanted to consult you first though. So what do you think?"
"No" he said simply as he got up and started to head upstairs.
"No?" this was not how she expected for it to go, "What do mean, I thought you would want this."
"Well you thought wrong, I don't want a bloody funeral so there won't be one." A funeral would make it real, he didn't want it to be real. Obviously he knew it was real, but a part of him was still waiting for him to wake up from a nightmare. A funeral would confirm the fact she was dead, he wasn't ready for the yet. Instead of explaining that he just rushed upstairs, leaving a very confused and shocked Snow.
/Present time/
It had been a day since Henry had moved in and Killian had already finished picking up the broken glass in the bottom floor ands now called Henry to come eat dinner. He is now coming down stairs as he hears Hook say "Now what shall we have for dinner?"
"Whatever's fine" he answered. He could tell Killian was putting on a brave face for him and it made him upset, he was sick of people babying him. Part of him was also convinced Killian would leave, no one was there to keep him on his path, so why was he pretending to care for him.
"I bought this weird thing called Frosted Flakes." Killian said as he placed the box of Frosted Flakes on the table. "That's grrrreat!" Henry said sarcastically, but Killian did not understand since he had never seen an add for Frosted Flakes. "All right then," he said cheerfully thinking he meant that was actually great. They ate their cereal in mostly silence, Killian would try to start a conversation, but Henry would just give him short answers. Killian knew something was clearly not okay, but didn't say anything, scarred he might want to move out. He was trying his hardest to put on a brave face and make him feel a little better, but nothing worked, so he gave up on starting conversation.
Killian was awake silently crying into Emma's pillow, it was his first time in that room without her. All day he had forbidden himself to feel anything, he wasn't doing it consciously, it was like a numbness had taken over him. That was probably a good thing though, at least this way he didn't have to pretend to not feel anything infront of the lad. But, now that he was alone, surrounded by darkness in their old room, he allowed himself to feel, just a little.
He was interrupted by a scream coming from across the hall. He got up quickly and ran to see what was going on, he soon came to know that it was just Henry. He was sitting up in his bed panting, "I'm sorry, it was just a nightmare," he said, "you can go back to sleep, sorry I woke you."
Killian sat on the edge of his bed and said, "You don't need to apologies, I wasn't even sleeping," he gave him a small smile before continuing, "Would you like to talk about it?" Henry shook his head indicating no, but said, "It was about, that night." Killian shifted so he faced him more, indicating it was okay to continue. "I saw her die again," he was now crying, "I'm sorry, you have enough going on without me crying over a stupid nightmare."
"Stop apologizing, you've done nothing wrong, and it's not a stupid nightmare," he said, "Scoot over." He did as he was told and Killian laid down next to him. "I'm here," he whispered into his ear, "I don't care how stupid you think it is, I am always here to help, okay?" Henry was reluctant to have Killian console him, but accepted it and nodded, letting his tears flow.
"Just promise me you won't leave." Killian didn't even hesitate to say, "I promise."
That kid was the last piece of Emma he had and he wasn't about to let him go.

Back at the charming's Snow and David had agreed that a funeral might help them both feel some sort of closure. David slept in for the first time in a while and it was now the next morning, Snow was giving Neal his bottle as David prepared the hot chocolate with cinnamon he was still going to leave on the counter. It still wasn't healthy, but baby steps, he slept in and he talked, that was enough for now. "You know we can't do it without Hook right?" David said thinking back to the conversation the had previously.
"Yeah," Snow responded, "But based on the conversation I had with him a few days ago, there's no way he is going to agree." David was now pouring his coffee into a thermos, "What if we have help convincing him?"
"How? He isn't talking to anyone, except.." She said as he sat Neal down on his play mat, she thought for a moment and then said, "Henry."
"Exactly! I bet he could change his mind. But wait, we can't just lay this on him he's been through enough already, plus we don't know if he will even agree." She knew he was right he had been acting extremely distant and moody lately, plus he was just a kid he didn't need all this drama on top of his grief.
They decided they needed someone to get to Henry so that he could get through Hook. It sounds complicated, but it's necessary. They went to Regina's mansion to ask for help, when she opened the door they were surprised to see dark circles under her eyes. Apparently she wasn't taking all of this lightly, "What do you want?" she asked. They explained the situation to her and were now for an answer.
"Sorry no, this isn't his problem, so just leave him out of it. Plus even if I wanted to help you he wouldn't listen to me."
"Why? What happened between you two?" they asked still confused as to why the boy had gone to live with them and was now living with Killian.
"Look it doesn't matter," she said avoiding their question, "I can't help you so for once figure it out on your own. If you need something else you know where I am, now if you excuse me, I have things to do." And with that she shut the door.
