Since this story has passed the 10 chapter mark and it's been a while since I updated, I decided it would be a nice idea to give a short recap of everything that has happened so far. You totally don't have to read this if you don't want to or feel like you don't need it, it's just a small recap for whoever needs a little reminder of what has happened. Even I needed to re-read before writing the next chapter, since it has been so long, so if you also need a reminder you don't need to re-read everything and instead just read this. Again this is completely optional and not important to the rest of the story at all, so if you want to skip just move on to the next chapter, which I have already posted, and respect the people you are interested in reading this. Thank you.
Emma died in the final battle at the hand of Gideon as was predicted in the vision. By sacrificing herself Emma managed to defeat the Black Fairy as well as return Gideon to baby form, giving him and his parents a second chance. Supossedly her death should have returned all the happy endings, however her family doesn't feel like like they have their happy endings without her.
Each member of the family is having their own struggles in dealing with her death. Her parents have been having separate ideas on how to cope. David wants to ignore the problem as best as he can, he hasn't even officially taken up the job of being sheriff because it means his daughter is really gone, he blames himself for not being able to protect her and thinks he failed as a father. He is not very open about his feelings and does whatever he can to avoid talking about it, his wife on the other hand is more open on how she feels. Although still devastated by the circumstances she is more open to talking about Emma and how she fells about everything, she even took it upon her to plan the funeral.
Killian who has been going through rage, denial, and depression decided he did not want to have a funeral, because he was in denial, and instead Snow planned the funeral without him. However he was not entirely missing from the planning since Henry was his spy and would pass along his ideas to the planning committee. Henry moved in with his grandparents after having a fight with Regina, but moved in with Killian quickly after.
Henry was traumatized by being his mom get stabbed infant of him (like any hid would be) and he was having panic attacks and nightmares. In order to try and relieve him of a little bit of pain Regina attempted to take the memory of Emma dying away from him, however he caught her in the act and got extremely upset. He also been very angry and took all of his anger out on Regina as well as adopting a new rebellious teenager attitude. He and Killian have been on good terms so far and have helped each other on various occasions.
After Emma's death Killian sought after every possible way to bring her back and nothing would work, finally he gave up and attempted to commit suicide. However while on the verge of death he had a vision of Emma which caused him to look for the will to live again, he looked for this in her son. After this incident he went into a numb state that was later broken when he gave the eulogy at Emma's funeral.
Remember how he originally was supposed to have nothing to do with it, well Henry was originally going to give the speech. Last minute he ended up having a panic attack and never showed up, Killian stepped up and gave a very heartfelt speech which sent him spiraling back into rage and depression. At the wake Rumple showed up and Killian started fighting him and threading his son, luckily David interfered before anyone Gold could retaliate. He then gave Hook a strong speech on controlling his emotions before leaving.
After the fight Henry approached Killian at the now empty bar and asked for a sip of his drink. Killian being the father figure that he is agreed and allowed him to have his first sip of rum, but they were caught by a very angry Regina. She scolded both of them for what happened but Henry came in and defended Killian which resulted in a heated argument between mother and son. Eventually Henry broke down and Regina comforted him, putting their differences aside for a moment. Later they agreed to meet up the next day to attempt to talk through their problems.
Okay so I think I've covered everything important, I really hope I did. Anyways the next chapter should already be up so you can go ahead and read that before you forget anything. I'm sorry that I'm one of those people who never updates but I'm really trying to get this story finished.
