Star was laying on her bed underneath the covers while moving her arms around like she was one of those inflatable mascots you see outside a car dealership.
Star laughed as she continued to stare at her arms in amazement. "Woah. Look at how flappy my arms are." Star laughed.
But beside her, Star was being watched by Marco, Moon, River, Angie and Rafael with concern.
"Has Star took a stash of…Secret stash?" Rafael asked Moon with concern.
"No." Moon replied. "It appears she's eaten more Murberries than we thought. Or she thought."
"Hey there….Guy!" Star exclaimed at her Mom.
"You see how bad it's gotten?" Moon asked. "She can't even differentiate if I'm male or female."
"Star, I made some of my famous nachos." Marco said while gently approaching his girlfriend with a bowl of nachos.
"Oh hey Tom!" Star exclaimed. "Thanks for the hat!"
Star then snatched the bowl of nachos out of her boyfriend's hand and put the bowl on her head and started wearing it like a hat.
"Ahhh….It's rough, but I'll get used to it."
"River, you've done these Murberries before, are they usually this bad?" Angie asked the former king with worry.
"No, they're just moderately bad hallucinogenics." River replied. "When I took them in my younger days, I saw that I was in a fight with my arch nemesis. The irritating Screaming Goat. But then, I realised I was in a fight with a chicken once the effects wore off. I felt guilty and full as well."
"What did you do when you had them?" Rafael asked.
"I waited for 9 days and they just wore off." River replied confidently.
"Moon, is there a way to cure Star's illness?" Marco asked Moon. "Cause, I don't think I'd be willing to put up with this for nine days."
Star then started poking Marco's stomach repeatedly while repeating "Abs."
"Star, not-"
"Abs." Star poked Marco's belly again leaving Marco quite irritated.
Marco then moved away before Star could give Marco a red mark on his stomach.
"Well, I don't know if this is possible but the best way to cure Murberries is the juice of Milberry." Moon replied.
"Why wouldn't it be possible?" Rafael asked. "Is it a rare berry?"
"Not a bad guess Raf." Moon complimented. "The reason for this berry's rareness is because it only grows thrice every 25 years."
"So Star's gonna be crazy for who knows how long?!" Marco asked loudly.
"Oh hey Toffee!" Star yelled. "Why are you wearing a blue pine tree hat?"
"Oh now she's being friendly towards a Toffee hallucination, that's how bad it is."
"Well judging by my calendar…" Moon soon realised there was a perfect X marked for 12th and she rubbed her eyes to make sure she was seeing this correctly. "…Wait, they should've grown by now."
"Really, has it been 25 years already?!" River exclaimed. "Oh old age! How you're my greatest gift and curse."
"You look great for 49." Rafael complimented.
"But I am close to 50!" River yelled.
"Ha Ha! Birthday cake with 50 candles is so funny." Star laughed.
"So, where are the Milberries?" Marco asked.
"They grow on Varga mountain." Moon replied. "And unfortunately, it's the most rotten mountain in Mewni and it's the only healthy plant to ever grow. They're usually at the top in case you're wondering."
"Are you trying to stop me from going there?" Marco asked.
"Who said you were going there?!" River angrily asked.
"Well…..Uh….I thought I was gonna." Marco replied.
"Marco dear, I get my daughter's your girlfriend…"
"Hey dragonflies!" Star shouted like she had her tongue out, which she had. "My tongue is a snake!"
"…But, you don't have to risk your life for her."
"Relax Moon." Marco assured his possible future-mother-in-law. "I can just fly Nachos on top and take the berries."
"Marco, dragon-cycles can't go up Varga mountain." Moon informed her daughter's boyfriend.
"What kind of sick mountain is it?!" Marco exclaimed. "Look Moon, I know you may have doubts but, I can do it."
"And let me as well." River exclaimed. "I want to stretch my legs a bit so I can beat my arch nemesis! That pesky racoon!"
"Uh….Moon…."
"And I'll be Marco's babysitter!" River shouted.
"Moon!" Marco exclaimed.
"Marco, please do take him." Moon pleaded. "While me, Angie and Raf take care of Star."
"Alright." Marco eventually responded though reluctant.
"Okay! Let's go!" River shouted with excitement.
"Hold on boys, you two do know where you're going, right?" Angie asked the two with concern.
"Oh hold on." Moon said like she just realised something. "Hmm, with Earth and Mewni merging, who knows where the Varga Mountain is?"
"I do." Said Janna, who just popped out underneath Star's bed like a snake.
The sudden appearance caused everyone to scream while Star pointed her finger at her and screamed "Ahhhh! A sleepy person!"
"Janna, how long have you been under there?!" Marco asked angrily.
"Long enough." Janna replied as she stood up. "So, I heard you want the Varga Mountains."
"Do you know where it is strange girl?!" River asked loudly.
"Well, I need my laptop…" Janna then walked towards the closet and opened it to reveal a confused Tom holding a laptop with a skull symbol on it. "….And fortunately, my man has it."
"Wait, how did I get here?" Asked the confused Tom.
"Don't ask questions you already know the answer to, Lucitor." Janna replied while taking her laptop.
She opened the laptop and typed Moogle Earthni on the search bar to show River and Marco the location of Varga Mountain.
"Okay, it's just 3 miles North." Janna replied.
"Uh….Thanks." Marco thanked the girl with hesitation.
"Next time you need assistance, I'll be there, you just will never know how." Janna said while Tom walked out of the closet confused.
"Okay, we'll be back." Marco said to everyone.
The boy in the red hoodie got grabbed by his parents in a passionate hug which he cringed and groaned at.
"Be safe, hijo." Rafael said.
"Pack yourselves some lunch." Angie requested.
"I will Mom." Marco assured his mom.
While Marco hugged his parents, River was hugging his wife who embraced him back.
"Be strong, River." Moon said to her husband.
"I will dear!" River exclaimed. "If anyone is gonna eat Marco, they're gonna have to go through me!"
"Can anyone drop me home?" Tom asked.
Star then shot out of bed and screamed, "Hey Tom!"
The sudden scream made Tom flinch and grabbed his chest due to the unexpected scream. "Star, you scared me."
"Oh hey Tom, nice tiara." Star said to her ex, who was even more confused by what Star was doing.
"I'm going back into the closet." Tom announced before walking back into the closet.
Later, Marco and the former king River were riding on Marco's pet dragon-cycle, Nachos as an effort to get to the mountain.
"Question Marco: Has anything flew into your mouth?" River asked.
"Just a few flies." Marco replied. "Why?"
"Because a few flies flew into my mouth while I was breathing." River replied.
"Do we need to stop so we can stop the choking?"
"No my dear boy. It gives me the opportunity to gain my…." Just then, a moth flew into River's mouth and he chewed it. "…protein."
Marco was disgusted by this fact but he just brushed it off and continued flying. "Besides River, we won't be eating bugs for long. We have some beef sandwiches for us to feast on."
"Oh I threw those away." River responded.
"Yes, great job." Marco said before shaking his head in realisation. "Wait, what?"
"I threw the sandwiches away."
"The apples?"
"Threw them away."
"The zero sugar sodas?"
"Threw them away."
"So we have no food?!" Marco angrily asked while looking down. "We'll be very lucky if it doesn't land on someone."
On the ground, Mina, wearing a brown cloak, was holding out a tray with a piece of paper with the words 'Give me food' stuck on it. She was manoeuvring herself as she tried to catch the food that was gonna land.
"Come on!" Mina exclaimed. "Get on the tray!"
The food and drinks landed on the tray which the xenophobic warrior smiled with glee at. "Perfect, now I can use this to vandalise Eclipsa's office!"
Back in the air, Marco was still angry at what his possible future-father-in-law had recently done to their food supplies.
"Look Marco, the reason why I got rid of our useless food supplies is because we didn't need them." River explained.
"Uh….Actually, we did." Marco argued. "Because who knows how long we're going to be stuck up there! Without food, one of us might decide to eat their partner."
"Marco my boy, I once ate my partner." River's confession made Marco a little uneasy, something that didn't go unnoticed by the mad former king. "Oh don't worry Marco, my partner was just a dog."
"So, we're gonna have to eat each other at some point?!" Marco asked worryingly. "Well, more of you're gonna eat me at some point?"
"No Marco, nature is our meal." River replied before he pulled a hunting spear from underneath Nachos. "Why do you think I brought this spear?"
Later, Marco landed Nachos beside a mountain that looked lovely with amazing green fields with flowers to start with, but the higher it got, the more dangerous it got.
Higher up the mountain, there was a dark forest where a thunderstorm was brewing, a bunch of wolves hiding in bushes, a small bridge, rocks with boulders tumbling down, and on top, a light green berry hanging from a branch.
Both River and Marco didn't seem intimidated by the mountain since they had seen more perilous situations than that.
"Easy?" River asked.
"Definitely." Marco replied before giving Nacho's an assuring stroke. "I won't be long girl. While we're gone, go find something to eat." Nachos purred like a cat while Marco smiled.
"Come on Marco, we shall start with the easy path!" River exclaimed happily before he and Marco started their trail.
Their stroll was very peaceful since all they were seeing were friendly little rabbits of all sorts of colours, hopping and scotching that made Marco smile.
"Aww, they look so cute." Marco said.
"They look like dinner!" River exclaimed like a mad man before aiming his spear at the bunnies.
"River!" Marco angrily exclaimed.
"Well, I'm not eating any plant." River protested. "They could be poisonous."
"Well, I'm not gonna murder something this cute!" Marco protested.
"Marco, there comes a time in life where you need to kill animals to survive!" River yelled.
"Can't we do it to the wolves?" Marco asked.
"I suppose so." River replied. "They are rather predatory creatures. Especially the ones on Mewni."
They continued their stroll while River stared at the bunnies, smacking his lips with hunger as he did. "Marco, can we at least cook that one?"
"No, River."
"How about the black one?"
"Nada, River."
"How about that one?"
"No!"
About 11 minutes of walking later, Marco and River soon make it to their next path, the forest with brewing thunder storm. River had just gotten frustrated with Marco telling him not to eat the rabbits.
Despite the fact River loved Marco, he didn't like it when he was being a buzzkill.
So far, everything seemed so fine apart from the storm clouds that were currently floating above their heads.
But the atmosphere did perfectly describe River's feelings toward Marco due to his willingness not to kill.
"We could've used the opportunity to use the lightning to cook our food." River said.
"What is it with you and wanting to eat every live animals?!" Marco angrily asked the former king.
"I just miss hunting." River replied. "Ever since Mayor Eclipsa banned it."
"She just banned hunting animals, can't you hunt berries?" Marco asked.
"We are hunting Milberries." River pointed out.
"I know, but I meant plants for us to eat." Marco explained.
River sighed in annoyance. "So, this spear was utterly useless." River complained before pulling it out and aiming it to the sky. "USELESS AND POINTLESS!"
Just then, lightning struck River's spear causing him to be electrocuted while Marco sheltered his eyes from the brightness.
The lightning soon cleared, leaving River to be smoking and his clothes burnt.
"Well, I think this spear has some use." River said. "It just told me I should start running!"
Later, Marco and River started running for their lives to avoid the lightning. They almost got shocked when they ran towards a river where they could've been electrocuted.
They eventually made it out of the forest where they were surrounded by a path with bushes on the grassy fields on the side.
"Woo, that was close." Marco said. "You okay River?"
Marco was shocked when he saw what his possible future father-in-law was doing, he was eating his own clothes and was now in his underwear.
"River?!" Marco exclaimed.
"Marco, I was hungry!" River argued. "Now, revert your eyes, my underwear is just rightfully cooked."
"No!" Marco screamed, managing to stop River from taking his underwear off.
"Oh fine!" River groaned. "What do you suggest we eat?"
"They're a bunch of berry bushes." Marco replied.
Marco pointed to the berry bushes that were on the outskirts of the path, a sight that made River groan. "Awww! Fruit!"
"Come on River, they're fruit." Marco said in an effort to encourage the former king. "They're essentially the cousins to vegetables. And vegetables are what corn is."
"Stop talking like you're my dad!" River demanded.
"Don't be a baby." Marco sighed. "We should be eating healthy anyway."
Marco walked to one of the bushes and was about to grab a black berry, but stopped when he saw River aiming his spear and looking vigilant.
"Marco my dear lad, don't take the berry." River requested.
"River, I get you don't want to eat the berry, but this is what I like to call Mandatory survival." Marco explained.
"Marco, I wouldn't take those berries if I were you." River warned the young lad.
Marco sighed. "Why, River?"
"Marco, those berries could be dangerous." River warmed Marco. "They could be exploding berries."
Marco sighed and shook his head. "River. River. River." Marco said like the king was a child being scolded. "When has anything bad when taking a berry?"
When Marco pulled the berry off the bush, a bunch of wolves popped out of all the bushes. The wolves were as big as a table, judging by body length.
Marco backed away to River, who held a tight grip on his trusted spear, ready to attack.
River shook his head and groaned with worry. "Oh it's worse than I thought! Those weren't exploding berries, they were Direwolf berries."
"Direwolf berries?!" Marco asked.
"Oh yes. The taste is delicious, but trying to take one is a huge risk." River explained. "Because of those Direwolves."
"I thought those guys were extinct."
"No, they just left Earth." River replied. "Now the explanation is out of the way, run for your life!"
River and Marco soon started running for their lives so they would never be made into a two course meal.
"If we get eaten alive, I have note in my beard where I confess to eating that sugary cereal Star loves!" River shouted.
"Speaking of Star: How do you think she's doing?" Marco queried.
Back at the Diaz/Butterfly residence, Star was still in bed staring wide eyed out of the window.
Moon, Angie, Rafael and Tom were staring at her with concern, while Janna was busy drinking a can of soda looking unbothered.
"She seems okay now." Janna commented.
"She's not fine." Moon replied. "But, at least her ramblings stopped."
Star then turned her head and smiled while drooling at her friends and family.
"Uh oh, she thinks we're food." Janna said. "Let's leave before she starts licking Tom's horns."
"Why would she be licking my horns?" Tom asked, confused.
But the demon prince's answer was replied when he realised Star was licking his horns like they were popsicles or ice cream in a cone.
She then spat and exclaimed, "Mom, this ice cream tastes like Tom's horns!"
Moon was at first silent due to that information while Tom went red awkwardly.
"How does she know what your horns taste like?" Moon asked while raising an eyebrow.
"I…Don't…..Know…" Tom replied awkwardly.
Star then moved to the window while smiling at something that was making her laugh. "Ha ha ha ha ha. Giant mushroom. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha aha. Marco and Dad are being chased by Direwolves."
"Why is that funny?" Angie asked with worry.
"Is it happening to them right now?!" Rafael yelled with urgency to rescue his son.
"Don't worry Mr and Mrs Diaz." Moon assured them. "I'm sure it's one of Star's crazy hallucinations.
But back at Varga mountain, Marco and River were still being chased by hungry and angry Direwolves.
"Now might be a good time to use that spear!" Marco screamed.
"I want to!" River replied. "But there's more than one Direwolf!"
"Good point!" Marco responded.
"This was your fault Marco!" River shouted.
"My fault?!" Marco exclaimed. "How was I supposed to know a bunch of hungry and angry wolves would chase us if I took a berry?!"
"Because you didn't listen to me!" River screamed.
"Listen?!" Marco exclaimed. "Why should I trust someone who wants to eat cute innocent bunnies?! Or gets struck by lightning?! Or more importantly, eats his own clothes?!"
"Marco my boy, you'd eat your own clothes too if they were cooked!" River screamed.
"I wouldn't!" Marco yelled. "I'd take them off, but I wouldn't eat them!"
They continued being chased by Direwolves who were visibly getting tired from chasing them since they never expected them to be this fast.
"River, I think we're tiering them!" Marco shouted.
"Oh don't start changing the subject now!" River demanded. "I'm still angry at you for not listening!"
"Are you not gonna let this go?!" Marco asked angrily.
"Never!" River screamed.
The Direwolves soon stopped to catch their breaths, but they realised the chase for their meals was over due to the fact Marco and River had managed to outrun them.
One Direwolf just growled at them and then gave them a warning howl to never steal their berries.
Marco and River stopped to catch their breaths and panting very loudly that it sounded like they were choking on their own spit.
"It's over." Marco said.
"This argument is not over, Marco!" River exclaimed. "It will never be over!"
"River, come on!" Marco groaned. "Can we just give this a break until we pass this bridge, climb that very rocky mountain and get that berry so Star can be okay?!"
River groaned. "Fine."
The two then started to walk towards the bridge with intention to walk across it.
"Okay, this bridge should be simple." Marco said as they got close to crossing it. "Just as long as one of us doesn't do anything ridiculous."
Just then, a brown haired hairy creature with a black beard popped out of the bridge and held his hand out to stop the two.
"Halt!" The thing demanded. "I am a troll! And I won't let you cross until you solve my riddle!"
"Out of the way foul beast!" River demanded before picking the troll up and tossing him off the bridge.
River dusted his hands off while Marco looked shocked and angered with River's actions.
"River!" Marco exclaimed.
"What?" River queried with confusion.
"You threw him off a bridge!" Marco exclaimed.
"And….."
"You've killed him!"
"I'm not dead!" The troll shouted.
"Well, you might've injured him." Marco added.
"Actually, I landed on some bouncy mushrooms, which just so happened to be the answer to the riddle I was gonna do." The troll continued.
"I'm sorry, but my possible future father-in-law isn't the patient type!" Marco shouted.
"Nah, it's okay." The troll shouted from under the bridge.
Marco glared at River before crossing the bridge with the former king following.
"Marco, my boy…." River yelled out. "…Can I apologise?"
"Apologise?!" Marco exclaimed angrily. "You threw a troll off a bridge!"
"Well, wouldn't you if Star's life was at stake?!" River asked.
"No!" Marco exclaimed. "Because now there could be consequences!"
"Now you're the safety kid?!" River yelled. "Even after you took berries from a bush!"
"Well at least I don't have the guts to kill wild rabbits!" Marco retorted.
"At least I'm not stupid enough to eat wild berries!"
"At least I'm not stupid to eat their own clothes!"
"At least I care about survival!"
"At least I don't mercilessly throw trolls off a bridge!"
"At least I don't wear a stupid hoodie!"
"At least I'm not some muscle bound man baby!"
"At least I have muscles!"
While the two continued to bicker, the hungery direwolves from earlier watched from afar as the two started to make their way up the rocky mountain, snarling their sharp meat tearing teeth as the two did.
Back at the Diaz/Butterfly residence, Star was still in bed hallucinating quite wildly, while being supervised by her mother, who was looking worried.
"Come on you two, where are you?" Moon whispered as she sat on the side of Star's bed, stroking her head.
"Yeah, that's good." Star said before laying on her stomach. "Okay massage therapist, now the back."
"Uh…..You got it." Moon replied before getting off the bed and exiting the room where Angie and Rafael were looking worried.
"Has Star gotten any better?" Raf asked.
"She thinks I'm a massage therapist." Moon replied.
"Oh, que horrible." Angie responded.
"Yes, I can't even do massages." Moon replied.
"Marco better get back soon." Raf remarked worryingly. "I don't want Star to start thinking I'm a giant bear."
"Well, judging by my husband's…unique…..Uh…..skill set, I say he's…" Moon then sighed. "…..Well, he's handled him before."
"Is River dangerous?" Angie asked with worry.
"Not really, he…..Can be out of control sometimes." Moon replied.
Back with Marco and River, they continued their stroll up the mountain where they were approaching the berry. They had bickered all the way through, even though they had just avoided boulders that would've crushed them.
"At least I don't do karate!" River argued.
"At least I'm not a wrestler!" Marco argued back.
"At least I don't eat nachos!"
"What is that supposed to mean?!" Marco asked angrily. "I've seen you eat nachos!"
"Never mind, there it is." River was right. In front of them, were three green berries hanging from a small tree, ready to be taken.
"Well, least we can get the berry, cure Star and never speak to each other until we apologise." Marco said.
"Sounds like a plan!" River agreed.
Marco approached the berries and was ready to take the first one, but he suddenly got pounced on by a Direwolf. Unlike the others, this one was as white as snow and its eyes as red as blood.
"Marco!" River screamed before getting pounded by another Direwolf, which he quickly kicked off of himself and off the cliff.
The former king was about to rescue Marco, but he was surrounded by four other direwolves, snarling their teeth at him.
River knew he had to get past them, but he'd have to do it fast because Marco was being attacked and the leader was starting with his favourite red hoodie by tearing apart with his teeth.
Marco screamed as he punched the wolf in its eye, causing it to move away. Marco quickly got up and tried to grab the berry, but the white Direwolf pounded on Marco's back and started chewing at his hood.
Marco had to think quick if he wanted the berry, so he quickly slid out of his hoodie and ran to the tree while the leader was distracted by his red hoodie.
Marco was about to grab the berry, but he stopped once he saw River being attacked by Direwolves and looking like he was getting injured.
"Marco my boy, get the berries!" River shouted. "Nothing is at stake here! Just get the berries so my daughter can be better!"
Marco knew if he grabbed a berry first, then he'd have to save River and the berry could be squished. So he sighed and ran up to the former king and kicked one of the direwolves off of him before using his fists to punch a couple more in the nose. Causing them to whimper and run away.
The lone Direwolf was about to attack Marco, but River quickly grabbed it and threw it off the mountain despite his heavy panting.
The two then saw the last grey Direwolf staring at them with a terrified expression. River then smirked and growled at the wolf, who ran away in fear.
Marco chuckled while River glared at the young karate fan.
"Marco, I told you to get the berries." River said.
"How sick do you think I am?" Marco asked. "I wasn't gonna let you die."
"Why?" River asked. "After everything? After the bickering?"
"Hey, me and Star bicker, it's common amongst people who are close." Marco assured the former king.
"Usually when I bicker with people close to me, I would end up punching them in the face once it's over and disowning the friendship entirely!"
Marco cringed a bit and said, "You have a weird way of expressing friendship."
"That's what your father said to me." River remarked. "Come on, there's no stakes so-" But this time, there were consequences since the white Direwolf had just dropped the small tree off the mountain after carrying it in its mouth.
"No!" Marco screamed.
"You monster!" River shouted.
The wolf snarled at the two as a sign that it wants to eat them. Tearing them flesh from flesh, bone from bone.
Despite the two having lost the berries, the two knew they couldn't just go without finishing the thing off. Marco and the former king gave each other an agreeing nod before cracking their knuckles and neck.
"Marco, what if we don't make it?" River asked with a sense of worry. "I mean, I don't know how Moon pie will react when she finds out we've failed."
"River, do you wanna go out like the tough as nails former king you are?" Marco asked. "I may be a safe kid, but I always dreamed going out like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
"Who are they?" River asked.
"Outlaws who went out in awesome fashion." Marco replied as he did a signature karate pose.
River sighed and cracked his neck. The former kind of Mewni clenched his fists and said to Marco, "Let's do this!"
The two then screamed at the Direwolf and started charging towards it, intent on taking it down.
Later at the Butterfly/Diaz residence, Marco and River entered the house covered in scratches and bruises with Marco's grey shirt being torn up a bit.
"Marco!" Exclaimed Marco's parents, who ran up to the boy and hugged him.
"Are you okay, hijo?" Rafael asked his son. "You look hurt."
"Dad, I just need some rest." Marco replied as he got out of his parent's grasp.
"Did you get the berries?" Angie asked her son.
"Unfortunately, we didn't." Marco replied.
"Aww, me and Moon were gonna make a pie." Angie groaned. "And she just went out to get the dough."
River and Marco shook their heads in surprise once Angie revealed that revelation.
"Wait, pie?!" Marco queried.
"But I thought it was for Star." River pointed out.
"It was…." Responded the voice of Star, who was dressed in a dressing gown and had a towel on her head. "…Turns out there was a practical cure. A nice long shower."
"So, me and River chasing that berry was pointless?" Marco asked.
"Risking our relationship!" River yelled.
"Almost killing a bunny!"
"Eating my clothes!"
"Fighting ferocious direwolves!"
"Throwing an innocent troll of a bridge!"
"Yeah, all that was pointless." Remarked a sudden Janna, who was in the kitchen.
"What are you still doing here?" Marco asked.
"I've been asking the same question." Tom replied from up the stairs.
"Well, it's all over." Marco groaned.
"Shall we just collapse and fall asleep?" River asked.
"I'd love to." Marco replied before he and River collapsed to get some sleep.
Janna was smirking, finding this a bit humorous while Raf just placed a blanket over his son and current best friend. Star, Tom and Angie looked pretty blank about the whole thing since it was kind of expected with the condition they were in.
Star then tasted her tongue due to a funny taste. "Why does my tongue taste like Tom's horns?"
