At the popular restaurant known only as Asner's, a fire had broken out for whatever the reason with many of its staff injured along with hundreds of dollars of property damage. The restaurant's owner, the elderly, Carl Asner was sitting on a curb outside his restaurant being tended by a paramedic whom was a humanoid spider with eight limbs.
"This night was worse than that time I tried to tie 900 balloons to my restaurant." Carl grumbled. "Or was it, Dad?"
Just then, Detective Lutter approached the elderly restaurant owner looking as disinterest as he ever did. "Alright Mr Asner, could you tell me what happened? Give me details and make sure you don't miss any."
"Well, it was just a regular night of me running my restaurant until a fight broke out between a bunch of bounty hunters and a bunch of kids." Carl replied. "And I'm pretty sure the big guy with the sword gave me a concussion."
"Sir, I'm afraid your head doesn't look too good." The spider paramedic said. "We're going to have a look at this at the hospital."
"Nonsense. I was just exaggerating." Carl argued.
"Sir, it might be good to check." The paramedic pleaded.
"Nonsense you insect!" Carl exclaimed.
Instead of being offended, the spider just decided to continue being gentle. "Okay, I think you might have a concussion since you can't seem to differentiate between an insect and an arachnid."
"Is there anyone with a minor injury I can interview?" Lutter asked.
"Well, there are these meddling kids and Miss Kapoo." The paramedic replied while pointing at Star, Marco, Janna, Tom, Chloe, Jackie and Miss Kapoo sitting on a curb with a few scratches and bruises on their faces. While Tom had a few scratches and bruises, his face was also covered in ice cream. While Chloe looked like she had been shoved into a swimming pool. While Jackie's teal dress looked burnt by the sleeve.
The sight of these kids made Lutter uneasy since he knew their reputation. "You know what, Buff Frog and Brantley have this handled."
"Buff Frog and Brantley have what handled?" Buff Frog asked as he and Brantley approached their rival; Brantley eating an evening taco.
"Interview the lovebirds and I'll interview Mr Concussion." Lutter responded as he followed a paramedic lifting the restaurant owner on the stretcher.
Buff Frog and Brantley were confused by the request but they eventually walked over to Star and her friends and Miss Kapoo with little notebooks just to get every word they say on it.
"Okay here's how we do it, I write, you talk." Buff Frog suggested as he and Brantley approached the kids and Miss Kapoo, who looked up to acknowledge the cops.
"Good evening gang." Brantley said as he stuffed the taco into his mouth. "How are we?"
"Could have been better." Everyone replied.
"Great." Brantley replied. "So tell me what happened."
"Well, it started when Miss Kapoo allowed her boyfriend to attack my girlfriend!" Marco replied, narrowing his eyes at the town architect.
"Well, he had a job to do, you can't blame me." Miss Kapoo retorted.
"Can't blame you?!" Jackie exclaimed angrily. "My girlfriend is going back to France in a couple of days and you just allowed your boyfriend and his posse to attack!"
"Jackie-"
"It's not just that!" Tom interjected, interrupted whatever Chloe was about to say. "I was taking Janna out on a da….friendly dinner!"
"Dude, there's no need to hide our relationship anymore." Janna replied.
"I think Marco's explanation was perfect." Star replied.
"Again, he had a job." Miss Kapoo retorted.
And like that a huge inaudible argument bursted out with Buff Frog struggling to keep up with what everyone was saying that the words he had written in were nothing more than scribbly lines while Brantley was doing a poor job of trying to calm them down.
In that arguing, Chloe was busy trying to get Jackie's attention, Tom yelling at Miss Kapoo for ruining his friend night with Janna, Janna yelling at Tom saying that she was cool with their relationship being out in the open, Jackie was busy snapping at Miss Kapoo along with Star and Marco, while Miss Kapoo was smiling smugly while trying to act like the victim.
"Quiet!" Buff Frog eventually interjected. "Can we please do this one at time so I can keep track?"
"I agree with my partner." Brantley said. "We need to get everyone's side of the story and we aren't going to get it with everyone bickering at once. So let's start with…..Mr Lucitor. Tell us how the night started and from the very beginning. Like, way before the events at the restaurant."
"How will that help with investigation?" Buff Frog queried.
"I like long stories Buff Frog." Brantley replied. "So, let's have one. Starting with Jantom."
"Huh?"
"The ship name for Janna and Tom." Brantley explained.
"Okay, let's start." Tom said. "It was in the early hours in the morning…"
Jantom's 'Jolly' Date Night.
In the Lucitor palace, Janna and Tom were laying on Tom's bed together staring at the ceiling together. It's something they tend to do a lot together. No big gestures, just the two of them laying down enjoying each other's company.
They were busy lying down trying to make out what the moving ceiling art was making. like they were some kind of demonic clouds.
"I don't know, what do you think?" Tom asked.
Janna stared at the moving ceiling art, trying to make out what they were making. "Hmmmm, looks like a puppy wearing a dog skull as a mask."
"Specific." Tom replied.
"What do you think?" Janna asked as she placed her hand on his chest.
"Hmmmmmm, looks like a deer skull." Tom remarked.
"Can you try harder Mr Lucitor?" Janna asked with a smirk.
"Um….A deer skull that belonged to Ludo but realised it looked stupid on him." Tom replied.
"Still a deer skull but…." Janna then kissed her boyfriend on the cheek. "….Not a bad description."
"Thanks." Tom replied.
Just then, Mr Lucitor walked in with a tray of a bowl of spicy red hot nachos and two glasses of soda.
"Hey you two." Mr Lucitor greeted the two. "Thought you two might need a snack." He placed the tray beside the two.
"Thanks Dad." Tom responded.
"You do remember how I like my nachos?" Janna asked.
"So hot they make you tear up." Mr Lucitor replied with a smile.
"You know me too well." Janna said.
"By the way, hope you two enjoy your date tonight." Mr Lucitor remarked before leaving the room.
Once he left, Janna froze in shock while Tom froze and started burning up due to the nacho he was biting on that it was causing all three of his eyes to water.
"I'm sorry, date?" Tom asked his girlfriend while leering his eyes at her before continuing to choke on his nacho.
"I honestly expected more of a deadpan reaction." Janna responded as she reverted to her deadpan expression.
"Deadpan?!" Tom exclaimed. "You just said we're having a date!"
"Actually it was your dad." Janna retorted. "But you don't know if it's a restaurant date or a park date. It could just be a date in your bedroom."
Tom then calmed down. "Sorry. The word date just sprung up and that kind of got me worried for a sec."
"But in all honesty, it's a restaurant date." Janna informed him.
"A what?!" Tom exclaimed. "Are you crazy?!"
"Well, seeing as we were open about our relationship during detention I thought now is the time that we try and be more open to the public." Janna replied.
"Janna!" Tom exclaimed. "You didn't want us to be seen in public saying you weren't a fan of it!"
"That was the old Janna." Janna replied. "Ever since detention, I liked that people now know about us. Even though they were saying we were doing a terrible job at hiding it."
"Look Janna…..I'm comfortable with us going out tonight, but I'm worried you might not be." Tom said nervously.
"Tom, when we got into this relationship we knew there were rules we had to follow with each other, honesty and trust." Janna said. "I'm ready for it. Trust me. I need to know if you're ready."
"I am." Tom replied. "But I need to know if I can trust trust you. I need to know if you're ready."
"I am." Janna replied. "Trust me." Tom gave her an unsure look. "Come on, when have my actions caused trouble."
"One instant." Tom replied. "Where you broke your leg and I lost all my limbs."
"Except for that one time." Janna replied.
"That whole bucket of fake blood incident."
"That time as well."
"That one time where us putting salt in River's coffee lead to him somehow getting into a fight with a racoon that somehow lead him into an animal rights activist rally!"
"Okay, so there were a few times." Janna said.
Tom sighed. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Well, it'd be a shame because I can't get my money back." Janna replied.
Tom sighed. "Well, I won't want you to sell your soul just to get your money back so….I'll come."
"Thanks." Janna said before kissing her boyfriend on the cheek. "Can't wait to spend time with my demon boyfriend. Hey, are your eyes detachable by any chance?"
"Everything is detachable." Tom replied. "Even my teeth."
"Good." Janna responded. "Did you really think we couldn't have a date night without my trademark Janna shenanigans?"
Tom sighed. "I guess not."
"Don't forget to dress up formal." Janna reminded her boyfriend.
Later at the packed Asner's, Janna and Tom were seated by a table with Tom wearing his favourite suit and tie, while Janna was dressed in her Janna clothing but with an added bow tie something that made Tom raise an eyebrow.
"I thought we were going formal." Tom said.
"We are." Janna retorted.
"You're in your informal clothing." Tom pointed out.
"Dude, I have a bow tie." Janna pointed to the bow tie around her neck. "That's as about formal as I can be so don't expect to see me in a dress. Even on our wedding day."
The idea of a wedding day made Tom blush and look away awkwardly from his girlfriend who just smiled to enjoy the show.
"Ha, made ya blush." Janna chuckled.
Tom just smiled and decided to play Janna's game. "Well, if we were to get married I'd be wearing the tightest clothes and standing beside the lava ocean."
"Woah, slow down on the planning Mr Lucitor." Janna retorted.
"I wasn't finished." Tom said. "And when I'm usually there, I sweat. But need I remind you that I'd be wearing the tightest clothing?" Tom smirked to his girlfriend while raising his glass.
The idea of Tom during their wedding day made Janna blush really red in her entire face that she swore she was about to drop her glass of water. The sight of Janna going red all over her face made Tom smirk.
"Ha, made ya blush." Tom remarked smugly.
"Shut up, no you haven't." Janna denied while holding the menu to her face.
Just then, a waiter showed up and poured them a glass of water. "Okay, you ready for me to take your order?" The rather friendly beetle waiter asked.
Tom was about to order his first, but Janna stopped him by raising her finger. "Suggest spaghetti and meatballs and I'll detach your hand."
Tom didn't know what to say except motion to the waiter to ask for Janna's order first.
"And what may you have this evening?" The waiter asked.
"Yeah, I'll have a steak cooked medium rare with some fries with the spiciest sauce on the side." Janna replied.
The waiter wrote that down and motioned to Tom whom was rubbing on the forehead where his eye usually is. "Oh yeah, and I'll have the chilli pepper soup."
"Bread on the side?"
"Sure, throw in a few slices." Tom replied.
"You two have made some great choices." The waiter complimented as he put away his notebook. "Your meals won't be long, let me assure you of that." The waiter walked away to deal with someone else's order.
Janna mockingly narrowed her eyes at her boyfriend. "You're gonna sweat first with that chilli pepper soup."
"Let's see you try and break with your steak." Tom retorted, still holding his hand over his forehead.
"Are you sweating already?" Janna queried.
"No." Tom replied.
"It's just you have your head on your forehead." Janna pointed out. "Do you have a headache?"
"No, just watch." Tom replied.
"Watch what?" Janna asked. "What are you doing?"
"Well, let's just say 'Eye' am seeing someone." Tom then removed his hand from his forehead and revealed that his eye was missing. "I plopped it in the jug of water when that waiter wasn't looking."
Janna was amazed. "I was planning to dip it into someone's soup, but your plan is better."
"That would have hurt!" Tom exclaimed.
"Again, your plan is better." Janna said. "So, who do you think will get the eye?"
"THERE IS AN EYE IN MY WATER!" Exclaimed a gruff voice.
"Sorry, my bad." Tom said responded as he got off his seat to retrieve it. "I've been looking all over for it."
Janna tried to hold in a laugh at the angry restaurant patron but bursted out laughing when he saw something that killed her. "Oh my gosh! He just threw that water. I wonder who it'll-"
Just then, the sound of water splashing and someone screaming was heard. "Oh, it hit Chloe."
About 18 minutes later, Janna and Tom were busy laughing at whatever joke they were laughing at, not caring about how the many restaurant patrons were reacting rather uncomfortably with their laughter.
The manic couple soon stopped and smirked. "I think we succeeded in making everyone uncomfortable." Janna said.
"You know Janna, I'm really enjoying tonight." Tom said. "Although hearing Jackie and Chloe argue in French was rather disruptive."
"What's worse was, I could understand what they were arguing about." Janna said.
"But, I'm glad we don't have to hide our relationship." Tom replied. "It feels refreshing to be out in the open."
"I agree." Janna replied while blushing. "It is kind of awesome."
"Hey, you're an awesome girlfriend." Tom remarked while smiling. "And I'd be a fool to screw this up."
Just then, the waiter arrived with the couple's respective meals. "Your dinner, for the lovely couple."
"Actually, we're just friends." Tom's comment made Janna drop her fork while Tom cringed in realisation of what he said.
"Oooooookay." The waiter replied as he placed the couple's respective orders in front of them.
While Tom was now sweating, Janna was shocked and her eye started twitching. Did Tom say they were just friends? Did her own demonic boyfriend say they were just friends?
"Did you say what I think you just said?" Janna asked with frustration.
"Look….I wasn't exactly thinking." Tom explained. "It was just a-"
"Let me guess, spur of the moment?" Janna asked with frustration.
"Look, I didn't mean to lie." Tom assured her. "I mean, could it be that it was a force of habit."
"Force of habit?" Janna laughed. "Yeah, and Chloe is moving back to France even though she knows she and Jackie are inseparable."
"Look, our food is here, let's just eat up." Tom suggested.
"Okay, fine." Janna sighed.
Janna and Tom started to eat their meals in awkward silence. Tom tore some of his bread, dipped it in his soup and ate it. While Janna chopped some of her steak and ate some of the juicy and tender meaty juiciness.
And it had been like that for the last twenty minutes, Tom and Janna were staring at each other in silence while they waited for their dessert. Janna had ordered a vanilla cheesecake drizzled in chocolate sauce while Tom ordered some ice cream sundae drizzled in strawberry sauce with white chocolate flakes on top.
They had been silent after Tom's little slip up regarding about them two being 'just friends.' Tom was trying to figure out how to apologise to his girlfriend while Janna was trying to figure out what to say about all this.
But eventually, Tom decided to try and break the ice. "Janna…..I am really sorry for…..Well, for that."
"I can't believe you just said we were friends." Janna groaned. "Are you not comfortable about us being seen in public?"
"Janna, I want us to be!" Tom replied.
"You want us to be but you're not answering if you actually are comfortable!" Janna exclaimed. "Are you comfortable right now?!"
"Well not with us bickering." Tom replied.
"Did you even want to come tonight?" Janna asked sadly.
"I wanted to." Tom assured her with an unsure voice.
"You wanted to?" Janna queried with a raised eyebrow. "I don't know mister, that voice doesn't sound sure."
"It's true!" Tom argued.
"Tom, you said to me hours before you arrived that you wouldn't want me to sell my soul just to get my money back." Janna reminded him.
"Okay!" Tom took a deep breath. "Look, let's have someone ask our relationship status. I promise I won't say we're just friends."
"Okay, put that to the test." Jackie said from the booth next door to them.
"You sure Jackie?" Tom asked. "We've been hearing what was happening between you and Ch-"
"Just fire away Jackie." Janna interjected.
"How is my favourite couple tonight?" Jackie asked.
"We're doing great and we're not dating." Tom then groaned and bit down on his napkin due to his stress.
"See?!" Janna exclaimed.
"Well, worth a shot." Jackie said before going back to acknowledge her girlfriend.
"Tom, you say you want to be comfortable with us but you're denying we're in a relationship." Janna said.
"Look, I'm trying to make it up for you." Tom argued. "I want to make this right!"
"Tom, I don't want you to try and help!" Janna argued. "Do you wanna know why I wanted us to go out tonight?!"
"Why?!" Tom asked. "I thought it was because you were ready for us to be seen as a couple."
"I am, but I wanted you to be." Janna replied sadly. "I only got them so I could help through your anxiety. Even though you might have said 'no' but sometimes, you have to encourage everyone to face their fear, even the ones you love. But, I wanted you to be honest about it so I can help you. Do you not trust me?"
"Janna I do I just-"
Just then, somebody rammed themselves into a waiter holding a tray with a glass of ice cream; Causing him to spill it on to Tom and his favourite suit.
It was at that point they they realised that the waiter got rammed into by none other than one of Star's bounty hunters, B. Utcher.
"Sorry." B. Utcher responded. "Task at hand. You two lovebirds enjoy your night." B Utcher then pulled out his crowbar and started charging.
"We are not a-" Tom stopped before he could say anything else and groaned. "Forget it! Janna, do you wanna help me?!"
"Yeah, sure." Janna replied before pulling out a hand grenade from her beanie.
"Are you going to tell me where you get the hand grenades?" Tom asked.
Now.
"Wait, how did she gain access to a hand grenade?" Brantley asked.
"That's confidential." Janna replied. "But I have a licence to prove it."
"Is that the end of your side of the story?" Brantley asked.
"Well, we got into a fight." Tom replied. "A bunch of bounty hunters attacked ruining my friendly dinner date." Tom then screamed in annoyance. "Why am I not saying it right?!"
"Okay, I think that's all we got from this couple." Brantley announced. "Let's move on. By the way, are you two dating?"
"No." Tom response made Janna groan in annoyance. "I mean, not really! I mean, of course not! I mean…Ahhhhhh!" Tom then placed his hands on his face to hide the embarrassment.
The two police officers moved on to Jackie and Chloe with the two looking annoyed.
"Evening Chlokie." Brantley greeted the couple.
"Why use these ship names?" Buff Frog asked.
"Because it's fun." Brantley replied.
Buff Frog sighed before acknowledging Jackie and Chloe. "Hello girls. Was tonight special?"
"No." Replied a surprisingly annoyed Jackie. "Because I was out with my girlfriend for one last night before she returns to France."
"Actually I-"
"Please don't interject." Brantley requested. "Okay Jackie, start from the beginning. Like, very beginning."
Chloke's 'Cheerful' Final Night.
One year ago.
Jackie and Chloe were busy skateboarding together down a path with Jackie in the lead.
"In front of ya babe." Jackie said.
"Pas pour longtemps." (Not for long). Chloe responded before jumping on a random hand rail on her skateboard, making a grinding move. Which put her in front of Jackie, whom narrowed her eyes at er girlfriend.
"Hey no fair!" Jackie yelled out. "I was about to do that move."
Chloe then performed a cool jump over a sleeping giant spider while Jackie just skated around it.
Chloe then did a cool jump over a few stairs and landing safely on the ground with her skateboard coming unscathed.
But before Jackie could follow, Pony Head got in the way, causing her to run into her and fall down the stairs.
"Hey, watch it road rage!" Pony Head yelled.
Jackie sat up without a scratch due to her wearing her protective gear. Chloe turned around and smiled at her girlfriend and offered her a hand. "Careful skater."
Jackie chuckled. "Oh shut….." Then Jackie inadvertently spat out one of her tooth. "…..up."
Later, Jackie and Chloe were sitting on a bench together with Chloe holding a mirror to her girlfriend's face. The chilled teen took a good look at where her missing tooth was, which was one of the front. "Aww man! I hope Mom and Dad have enough for a filling."
"I hope so." Chloe replied as she put her mirror back in her bag.
Jackie then wrapped her arm around her girlfriend and sighed letting the moment synch in. "Don't you wish moments like this last forever?" Jackie asked her girlfriend.
"Oui." (Yes)
"So, same time tomorrow?" Jackie asked.
Chloe sighed sadly. "Jackie, I have to go back to France tomorrow and I won't be back for months."
"Oh." Jackie replied with a hint of disappointment. "We can try long distance, right?"
"Oui." Chloe replied.
"Oh. No restraint?" Asked the surprised Janna. "Or some dumb excuse as to why long distance won't work?"
"This isn't an over dramatic teen cartoon show." Chloe replied. "I mean, if it were, then I could end up dating your best friend."
"I don't know why you made that comparison, but that would be a crumby way to end the show." Jackie said.
"Mmm hmm."
"Hey, when you come back to California, bring me something good from France."
"Of course." Chloe said.
"Do you know how to say 'I love you' in French?"
Chloe gave her girlfriend a deadpan expression. "You do realise I am from France?"
"Don't ruin the moment." Jackie said in an unusual deadpan demeanour. "Well, je t'aime."
Chloe smiled and held her girlfriend by the cheek. "Je t'aime aussi, Jackie."
Then the skater girlfriends shared a passionate kiss on the lips with each other just as the sunset behind them.
One year later.
At the Lynn Thomas residence, Jackie was sleeping in her bed in a white tank top and skateboard pyjama bottoms before a giant rooster outside her house made a 'Kakaw' sound. She woke up and rolled out of her bed. She stretched and looked to the giant rooster standing outside her window. "Thanks for the wake-up call Rufus."
She looked on her calendar which was marked the 17th of July. It was marked, 'teeth filling refill'. "Oh what a day that was." Jackie remarked before realising what tomorrow also meant as well. Chloe would be going back to France once again. Causing her to groan. "Oh for the love of corn!"
Just then her phone started ringing. She looked who the contact was which turned out to be none other than Janna. "Oh man, I don't want it to happen but it's gonna happen anyway. I mean, maybe we should go skating again." Jackie pressed the answer button on her phone. "No! No! No! No! No! That's not special!"
"Spur it on Tom." Janna said. "Got it! Thanks Jackie. Just do a Janna."
"Uh!" Jackie then picked up her phone and saw that Janna had hung up. "Dang it Janna, what did you want to call about? Uh, doesn't matter! Hey Rufus, do you have any ideas on how I should make Chloe's last day special?"
The giant rooster made a caw sound as a response, causing Jackie to sigh and open her bedroom window.
"Well, you're just a pet rooster, how can you help?" Jackie asked her pet giant rooster. "How am I going to make her last day for 9 months special?"
"Take her out on a special date."
Jackie looked outside the window and saw none other than professional bounty hunter, Viper Rattler drinking some bottled water with Bane Whispers.
"I mean, if you want it to be special, then take her out." Viper finished. "Don't know why you didn't think of that before."
Viper and Bane then continued their morning jog after giving out some useless advice.
"Thanks bounty hunters!" Jackie yelled. "I don't wish you luck on trying to kill my close friend!"
"Thank you!" Viper yelled back.
Jackie closed her window and started to go through her wardrobe to find a perfect dress for the date. But she stopped and ran towards her phone and started texting Chloe.
'Chloe, meet me at Asner's at 7 PM. Booking reservation, now. Xxxx.'
Jackie then dialled for Asner's and made a reservation for 7. She waited for Chloe to reply but unfortunately, she didn't. Was she just being a heavy sleeper? Did her phone get stolen? Or was she not in the mood?
Rufus gave his owner a confused look like he was some kind of puppy. Jackie acknowledged her pet giant rooster and sighed. "She might have broke her phone." Jackie theorised. "Maybe that's why she's not acknowledging my message. Do you think?"
Rufus just started to peck chicken feed that was right in front of him, making Jackie sigh.
Later that night, Jackie had arrived to Asner's dressed in a teal dress and was constantly checking herself to make sure there wasn't a spot of dirt on her since she wanted this to be perfect. She walked past Tom nervously walking past her. "Hi, I'm Tom. I'm Janna's boyfriend." Tom said to himself. "Okay, got it!"
In front of the restaurant, Jackie noticed Chloe, dressed in a fancy suit and tie, chatting it up with Star and Marco who looked like they were here on a date as well.
"….so yeah, that's the plan for tonight."
"Speaking of Jackie, guess who showed up?" Marco asked.
Chloe looked to her girlfriend and her face turned into a dark shade of red to how glamorous she looked tonight. "Je-je-je-bien..."
It was at this moment, Marco noticed that something was wrong with Jackie and whispered to himself, "Oh no."
"What?" Star asked.
"Jackie's nervous." Marco replied. "And when Jackie's nervous things turn disastrous."
"How disastrous?"
"Like….Car crash on a freeway disastrous."
"Should we be a part of this?" Star asked.
"I think Chloe has it covered." Marco replied. "We have our own date night to attend to." Marco and Star quickly entered the restaurant just to make sure they didn't get involved in anything disastrous.
"So, how do I look?" Jackie asked looking rather nervous.
"You look incredible." Chloe complimented.
"I do?" Jackie asked. "You sure there's not a bit of dirt on me? Let me know please. Even if it's just a tiny spot, just let me know."
"You okay Jackie?" Chloe asked her girlfriend.
Jackie then quickly put on a quick calm composure. "Yeah….No sweat." Jackie lied.
Chloe then sighed. "Listen Jackie, there's something I need to tell you."
Jackie then froze, fearing that this could be Chloe's way of saying she's going to break up with her. So she decided to avoid the conversation and pushed her girlfriend into the restaurant. "Talk to me about it when we're inside. Let's just enjoy your last night here."
"Actually-"
"Let's go!" Jackie interjected.
Later, Jackie and Chloe had found a place to sit down which just so happened to be a booth right next to Tom and Janna's, whom were possibly planning a prank.
Jackie was sweating, something that Chloe was noticing quite often ever since she had arrived at 7. Jackie, realising that Chloe has noticed, quickly pulled herself together and quickly wiped the sweat away from her face and pulled a very forced smile.
"So….You didn't reply to my text, what happened?" Jackie asked.
"I was about to reply but, my phone fell out of my pocket whilst I was trying to take a selfie on top of the mayor's office." Chloe replied.
"You okay?" Jackie asked with concern. "You didn't break your arm or anything?!"
"Uh…..No." Chloe replied. "I did hang on the ledge. But I couldn't save my phone."
"But are you bruised?!" Jackie asked with concerned worry.
"Only a bit." Chloe replied. "Are you okay chérie?"
"I'm fine, babe." Jackie replied. "It's just hot in here. Is Tom getting angry again?"
"He's not actually." Chloe replied as she looked over to see Tom. "He has his hand over his forehead for some reason." Chloe then sighed. "Listen Jackie, I'm glad you invited me because there's something important I need to tell you."
Jackie froze once again, fearing what Chloe was going to say to her. She was definitely planning to break up with her.
"Jackie, you are aware I'm meant to be going back to France tomorrow, oui?" Chloe asked.
"THERE IS AN EYE IN MY WATER!" The sudden scream made Chloe and Jackie flinch.
"Woah, that was loud huh?" Jackie asked as she put her finger in her ear and started turning it.
"Yes, but Jackie, you know that tomorrow I'm meant to go back to France, right?" Chloe asked. "And I like that you've done this to make up for last year. But-" Before Chloe could finish, a wave of water hit her, causing her to scream and for her makeup to be in a mess.
"Oh my gosh, Chloe!" Jackie got off her seat and ran to her girlfriend with concern. "Are you okay?!"
"Je vais les tuer!" Chloe exclaimed.
"Yeah, we'll them later." Jackie responded. "Let's get you cleaned up."
Around 5 minutes later in the bathroom, Chloe was in one of the bathroom stalls. "Come on Chloe, you got a little wet. It's not a big deal."
"I know." Chloe said. "I wasn't even crying, I was just annoyed."
"You sure? Because your makeup tells me otherwise."
"It's just the water." Chloe replied. "I mean, this isn't the first time someone threw water on me during a dinner date." Jackie laughed. "That wasn't a joke."
Just then, Janna entered the bathroom with two garment bags. One with a tweed suit and the other with an indigo and white dress.
"Janna?" Jackie asked. "What are you doing here with those garment bags?"
"They're here just in case I get my clothing dirty and need to be formal." Janna replied. "But I saw your girlfriend's clothes got hit by a wave and decided to offer her my spare suits."
"But are they her right size?" Jackie asked.
"I can tell people's size and weight just by looking at them." Janna replied.
"Oh yeah." Jackie crossed her arms smugly. "What's mine?"
"Five-foot-four." Janna replied.
Jackie froze. "Wow, that is accurate."
"Chloe's a five-foot-five and I just so happen to be as well." Janna replied. "Okay Chloe, would you like the tweed suit or the white and indigo dress?"
"Which one will make me less embarrassed?"
"Uh…..The tweed suit would make you like a cooky time traveler." Janna replied
"You know what? Throw me the indigo dress."
Janna shrugged her shoulders and threw the bag over the stall which Chloe caught and quickly got changed. She exited the bathroom stall looking embarrassed to wear the dress, but Jackie was absolutely blown away by her appearance.
"Que quelqu'un me retire cette robe."
"How about later?" Asked the amazed skater.
"Uh….teenagers." Janna muttered.
Around 2 minutes later, Jackie and Chloe had returned to their booth. Jackie did a stretch while Chloe just stared at her girlfriend trying to figure out what is going on with her awesome girlfriend. Chloe has noticed that Jackie hadn't exactly been chilled. Ever since the night started, she has noticed that her girlfriend was acting less chilled. Like, she had lost about 10 per cent of it.
"Jackie, are you alright?" Chloe asked her girlfriend.
Jackie quickly acknowledged her girlfriend and pulled a forced chilled look. "Yeah, of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
"You just seem nervous." Chloe pointed out. "Are you okay?"
Jackie sighed. "Chloe, you're going to France tomorrow, right?"
"Meant to be." Chloe confirmed.
"Well…..I have to agree with you on this one." Jackie said.
"On what?" Chloe asked.
"Before you came back to America, the long distance thing was pretty much stressing me out." Jackie explained. "I mean, with school times and family times, it's kind of hard to keep track. Maybe, when you're back in France maybe it's best…..We do breakup."
"What?!" Chloe exclaimed. "What is giving you that idea?!"
"Well, because you're going back to France and you're saying that we have to breakup." Jackie explained.
Chloe was stunned that her mouth was wide in shock.
"Qu'est-ce qui a amené cette idée?!"
"Parce que tu rentres en France demain et tu sais que les relations à distance ne vont pas durer-"
"Si tu me laisses juste finir!"
"Je sais ce que tu veux faire donc pas besoin de l'expliquer."
"Non, vous ne le faites pas!"
And so, the two girlfriends continued to bicker in French, something that made Marco and Star, whom were sitting in the booth on the left to Jackie and Chloe's, silent.
"Wow, whoever understands French must feel really uncomfortable." Star remarked.
Later, Jackie and Chloe were sitting in awkward silence after their argument which lasted for an insane amount of time. Around 36 minutes to be exact.
In that amount of time, they heard Tom and Janna have an argument, Star crying, Miss Kapoo trying to calm her date down and Jackie took the time to ask if Tom and Janna were in a relationship, but that didn't go so well. She turned her attention back to Chloe, whom was still in silent.
Jackie knew she had to say something and she had to make it quick but Chloe stopped her.
"Jackie…."
"I'm sorry about the fight as well." Jackie interjected. "What did you want to tell me? I overreacted thinking you'd break up with me."
Chloe sighed, something that that made Jackie worry again.
"Jackie, I was planning on breaking up." Chloe explained. "I myself, couldn't handle being away from you."
Jackie tried to keep a calm composure but she was definitely on the brink to tears. Chloe noticed this and tried to calm her down, but was interrupted when some dark green substance landed on Jackie's arm, burning a bit of her teal dress.
She looked at the arm and narrowed her eyes at the person in question, who turned out to be Viper Rattler who just slithered away.
"Okay I'm not angry about it, but my mom will be." Jackie said.
"You want to kick some butt?" Chloe asked.
"Could be the perfect opportunity for you to teach me your Kung fu moves." Jackie suggested.
"Yeah sure." Chloe said.
Now.
"And you joined kung fu fight?" Buff Frog queried.
"It wasn't just a kung fu fight." Jackie replied. "There was karate, fire, a hand grenade, sword, crowbar, whatever Bane Whispers does and venom."
"Is that all?" Buff Frog asked.
"You can move on." Jackie said. "As I try to enjoy being interrogated on the last night my girlfriend before she moves back to France."
Chloe sighed. "J'abandonne."
Buff Frog and Brantley then moved on to Star and Marco whom were both looking sad. "Okay, and what is the matter with power couple?" Brantley asked.
"Please do not call them power couple." Buff Frog requested.
"Nah, it's fine." Star assured him.
"Do you wish to explain what had happened…"
"Let me guess: Mart?" Buff Frog asked.
"Oh no." Brantley's response made Buff Frog wipe away non-existent sweat off his brow. "Starco is their ship name. What you're saying is just stupid."
Starco's 'Sensational' evening.
Marco was walking upstairs with a bowl of cheesy nachos in his hands. He knew Star was still struggling to cope with her Mom being in prison and he thought he should try and get her to forget about it.
River then stopped in front of Marco and sighed.
"You're not handling this, River?" Marco asked with sympathy.
"I miss my moon pie." River groaned.
"I miss her too." Marco said. "But at least she has found a replacement."
At Moon's pie store, a woman named Karen was complaining to the new temporary manager, Ludo.
"Ma'm, I followed the recipe." Ludo said.
"No! No! You didn't!" The woman argued.
"Yes I did!"
"I want a refund!"
"It's not poison!"
"I'm not putting this in my mouth you dirty, little monster!"
"All this for pie?! Why are humans so complicated?!"
"Oh that does it! I want to see the manager."
"But I am the manager!"
"I mean your real manager!"
Back at the Diaz/Butterfly residence, River took a cheesy nacho as he sighed with sadness. "Star's not handling it as well as I am."
"As well as you are?" Marco asked, not understanding what River meant.
"Well, I usually get distracted by something else." River replied. "But, I'm too busy waiting for my moon pie to return to…" Just then, River then froze like he saw something and then clenched his fists aggressively. "You!"
Because outside the house, it was River's arch nemesis, the racoon. River then pounced out of the window and began his ongoing battle with the racoon.
Marco sighed and knocked on his girlfriend's bedroom door. "Star, are you okay?"
"Come in!"
Marco entered his girlfriend's room and saw that she was looking fine. I mean, she was busy ruffling Mariposa's hair while on a phone call with someone.
"So that's what you're doing with Jackie tonight….Aww, well I hope Jackie pulls the best surprised reaction to your news….Okay, love you, byeeeeeeee!" Star then turned to acknowledge her boyfriend. "Oh hey, Marco!"
Marco was confused by Star looking fine. I mean, the other day she was a mess during Saturday's detention where she confessed what she was going through.
"Oooooh, nachos." Star then took a nacho and ate it. "Mmm, cheesy."
Marco wanted to ask Star how she was doing but he didn't wish to upset her again. She plopped herself on the bed and turned on the TV.
"Hey, did you open my anniversary present to you?" Star asked.
"Uh…."
"Wait! My favourite episode of The Raven House is on." Star replied.
"The one where Gooze and Calamity get together?" Marco asked.
"Bingo." Star replied. "Ah, such fantastic representation."
"Hey Star, are you okay?" Marco asked his girlfriend.
Star then carefully moved out of the way so she wouldn't knock Mariposa off of her bed and approached Marco. "Yeah, I'm totally fine! I'm fine in this house and Mariposa is doing amazingly to keep me company and I have an amazing boyfriend who I'm going to kiss." Star then attacked Marco with an unexpected passionate kiss to his lips which he didn't return but he pushed Star back.
He chuckled. "Well, someone is in a good mood."
"I wonder who it is?" Star asked flirtatiously, already knowing the answer.
"Someone rather special to me." Marco replied flirtatiously before kissing her on the nose.
Star chuckled. "Hey, I hate to spur it out randomly just like Janna, but I booked us a date at Asner's tonight."
"Oh, what's the occasion?" Marco asked.
"Can't an awesome girlfriend like me just go out with an awesome boyfriend like you for an awesome night out?" Star asked.
"Well, I didn't think you'd want to due to….." Marco knew he shouldn't mention her mom's imprisonment in fear it might upset her even more.
"To what?" Stan asked, pulling her signature smile.
"Prison!" Mariposa exclaimed.
"Huh?"
"Prison!" Mariposa exclaimed as she pointed at the TV screen.
Star happily gasped. "Oh, are we on the episode where Brenda tries to break Rayna out of prison?"
"Prison break!" Mariposa happily exclaimed.
"OMG, I love that episode!" Star then ran to the bed and jumped on to watch the cartoon with her future sister-in-law.
Marco didn't know what to believe. His girlfriend looked and seemed fine. I mean, she was spending time with his sister and watching the Raven House, which was her favourite cartoon at the moment.
But, he knew he didn't wish to upset her and decided to get ready for tonight.
Later, at Asner's, Marco was dressed in a fancy suit and tie while Star was dressed in a dark purple dress. Just as they were about to go inside they noticed Chloe was standing, waiting for Jackie.
"Hey Chloe." Marco greeted Jackie's parkour girlfriend.
"Salut Marco. Bonjour Star." Chloe greeted back.
"Wow girl, nice suit." Star complimented.
"Merci." Chloe responded. "I am hoping it doesn't get ruined."
"Yeah, it would suck since I have something to tell Jackie." Chloe said.
Star and Marco froze. "Oh no." Star responded.
"Chloe, you're not going to break up with Jackie just because you're going back to France, right?" Marco asked.
"No, it's something important." Chloe replied.
"You're going to propose to Jackie?!" Star's response only made Chloe chuckled and shake her head. "Chloe, that's quite the commitment and aren't you a little too young for marriage? Wait, is 16 the appropriate age to propose in France?"
"No, no. Although, that would be a beautiful moment." Chloe said. "No, I am going to tell Jackie that my family have decided to move to America."
Star smiled with glee with Marco doing the same. "OMG! That is amazing news!" Star exclaimed.
"I know." Chloe responded before looking at Marco. "Hey Marco, ¿qué hace Star aquí? ¿No está todavía tratando de manejar el encarcelamiento de su madre?" (What's Star doing here? Isn't she still trying to handle her mother's imprisonment?)
Marco was amazed. "Cloe, ¿hablas español?" (Chloe, you speak Spanish?)
"Ellas tienen clases de español en Francia." (They have Spanish classes in France.)
"Oh."
"Hey, what are you two discussing?" Star asked. "And when will you teach me Spanish so I can communicate?"
"Marco, en serio, ¿no se supone que Star debe tener tiempo para sí misma?" (Marco, seriously, isn't Star supposed to have time to herself?)
"Cloe, ella quiere esto. Reservó esta noche para mí y para ella. Así que no mencionemos esto. Pero Star preguntará de qué estábamos hablando. Así que intenta encontrar una manera de hacer que parezca que estabas pensando en un plan para Jackie." (Chloe, she wants this. She booked tonight for me and her. So let's not mention this. But Star will be asking what we were talking about. So please try and find a way to make it look like you were thinking of a plan for Jackie.)
"Muy bien." (Very well)
Chloe then chuckled to maintain the illusion. "…so yeah, that's the plan for tonight."
"Speaking of Jackie, guess who's…."
"Okay, we know what happens at this moment." Brantley interjected.
Later, Star and Marco had entered the restaurant and were lead to their seats where they sat down.
"Marco, not to be skeptical but….Jackie Lynn Thomas, the coolest and chilliest person I know, nervous?!" Star laughed. "I mean, I just find that unlikely."
"Trust me, I know her when she's nervous." Marco replied. "First time I saw her nervous was when in grade school. I don't want to discuss it but when Jackie is nervous, it gets ugly."
"Well, I hope it isn't bad." Star said. "Sooooo…..Anything new going on with the dojo?"
"Actually, one of my students left this week." Marco replied. "He apparently wanted to join Viper Kai. Which I heard was this new dojo."
"Viper Kai?" Star laughed. "That sounds like it was made by someone who wanted to be cool."
"Yeah, definitely." Marco agreed. "So….How have you been this week?"
"Marco, we live in the same house." Star pointed out. "Why would you need to know how I'm doing?"
"It's just…..You were locked in your room throughout the most of it." Marco replied. "I just…." Marco didn't know what to say in that moment, fearing it could upset his girlfriend.
"Marco, I was fine." Star assured him. "I just spent time on the internet writing Raven House fan fiction and tweeting Diana Terrence on when season 2B is coming out. She says soon. But she hasn't said how soon."
"I'm surprised she hasn't blocked you." Marco remarked.
"She won't because she's scared what Mrs Lucitor will do." Star replied.
"Oh…." Marco responded.
"And as with you Marco, I haven't seen you as well." Star said. "What have you been up to?"
"Well, not a lot." Marco replied. "Me and Janna tried to perform a ritual to switch bodies but unfortunately that didn't go anywhere. Me and Tom went dragon cycle racing and Tom literally lost his head so me and his body had to go look for it. Then me, Jackie and Chloe went skateboarding and I crashed, which caused me to dislocate my arm. Luckily, Chloe managed to fit it back in."
Star chuckled. "Sounds like you had a pretty tense week."
"Yeah, it was." Marco replied.
"THERE IS AN EYE IN MY WATER!" Someone loudly exclaimed.
Star turned to see who that was, and it just so happened to be none other than the vicious bounty hunter, The Dog whom was out on a date with Miss Kapoo.
He screamed as he grabbed the jug of water and threw it at Chloe, causing her to be soaked.
"Uh oh." Marco responded as he looked around the restaurant and saw that B. Utcher was there eating a ginormous steak with a giant glass of milk at the side, Viper Rattler was drinking a smoking cocktail from a martini glass while Bane Whispers was drinking a cup of green tea while adding a hint of poison to their drink.
Star froze. "Okay, this was a bad idea."
"Well, you didn't know they'd be here." Marco retorted.
"Well they might have noticed me and decided not to do anything and have a break." Star theorised.
"Or….Maybe that's what they want you to think." Marco theorised before an eyeball hit him in the face. "Hey! Who threw an eyeball at me?!"
Tom then approached Marco and held his hand out. "That was the Dog. I put my eye in his water."
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Marco exclaimed.
"It was a prank that the Dog just so happened to pull." Tom replied as he put his eye back in his forehead.
Just then Janna tapped Tom on the shoulder with her nose since she was holding two garment bags. "Hey, I'm gonna give Chloe her spare clothes."
"And you had those in case of…."
"Just in case someone got drenched in water." Janna replied. "Which just so happened to be now."
"Okay, see ya." Tom said before kissing Janna on the cheek which caused her to blush before departing.
"So, you and Janna are out in public as boyfriend and girlfriend?" Star asked. "Guess that detention did ya some favours."
"No it's a friend date." Tom's response made him freeze in confusion. "Huh, that was weird and odd. I hope this doesn't become a thing for the rest of the night. Anyway, enjoy the rest of the night." Tom then return to his booth.
"Do you think that'll become a thing?" Marco asked.
"Oh yeah, totally." Star replied. "I mean, what could ruin our night? I'm here with my boyfriend for an awesome night."
"Yeah." Marco replied even though he was still kind of concerned that Star was hiding her true feelings. He swore she could have been hiding her true emotions. I mean, her mom handing herself in would cause some kind of damage.
About twenty minutes later and their food had arrived. With Marco having a spaghetti a dinner while Star was eating a burger and a side of fries.
During that twenty minutes, Star and Marco were doing their best to ignore Jackie and Chloe whom were arguing in French and still were. While also listening to Tom and Janna arguing about whatever petty thing it was.
"Wow, there is a lot of arguing going on." Star remarked.
"Yeah. Would suck if someone can translate French." Marco said.
"And Tom is quite terrible at admitting his relationship." Star laughed.
"Oh, I can agree." Marco agreed.
"He'll get there." Star responded.
"I wish he could." Said a voice that made Star irk. She looked up and saw none other than The Dog staring down at her with a sinister smile on his face. "Things might erupt into chaos knowing him."
Then Marco picked up a spoon and aimed it at The Dog which he quickly replaced with a fork. "Stay away from her."
"Relax, I ain't gonna hurt her." The Dog responded. "I'm just here to ask how you're all doing."
"Things are going fine." Star replied coldly.
"Are they?" The Dog asked as he ate a piece of bread. "Because if I recall, your mummy went to prison. Handed herself in. Quite honourable considering the fact she did attempt a coup with Mina."
"Yeah, very honourable." Star said as she tried to ignore him and return to her meal. "Why don't you return to your meal?"
"Yes, leave us alone Dog." Marco requested.
"You think you and your stupid karate is going to save her?" The Dog asked while smiling sinisterly. "With her mummy out of the way and your daddy being quite easy to defeat. I know because I was his old sparring partner and beaten him every time. And what about your granny? She may be mayor but she can't keep you protected. Neither can your helpless….Uh…..Uh…What's your relation to Meteora? I mean, she should be technically your grandmother but she's rather young. So, is she like your cousin? Anyway, no one can protect you from me or my bounty hunting partners. So you better hand yourself in or face us one on one." Star was close to tears while gripping on her fork. "Hmm, perhaps I should pop into prison just to see how your mummy is doing."
Star instead of attacking just clenched her fists while Marco ran to her side, concerned for her. He narrowed his eyes at The Dog who only just smirked in return.
"I have a dinner to return to, so have a lovely night." The Dog then walked away from the couple to go back on his date.
Once The Dog was out of earshot, Marco started to gently stroke his girlfriend's hair. "Hey Star, are you okay?"
Star stared at Marco, tears now falling down her face. The mere sight of her girlfriend in this state made him sad and he pulled her in for a hug which she accepted and started crying in his shoulder.
They had been like this for about 16 minutes and in that time, Chloe and Jackie's argument finally stopped and Tom and Janna were sitting in silence.
Marco's suit was soaked from the tears of his depressed girlfriend but he didn't care about the suit, he only cared about Star and helping her. "It's okay Star, I'm here." Marco cooed her gently.
"Marco….."
"Hey….Hey…Hey, just let it all out." Marco stroked her head.
"Marco, I haven't been feeling myself all week." Star said. "I mean, the idea of my own mom being in prison with all those awful…criminals who have done so many heinous acts. I worry if she'll ever survive and I worry if she'll lose herself in there and become some kind of beast."
"Star, your Mom is stronger than you think." Marco assured Star. "She's got this."
"How do you know Marco?!" Star exclaimed. "I mean, she doesn't have magic so how can she survive?! I've been locked in my own room all week crying and worrying for crying out loud! It's just awful! And I decided at one point that I should do something. So I tweeted to Diana Terrace about season 2B like a crazy fan, hung out with Mariposa and booked tonight for the both of us simply because I just want to take my mind off of all this madness. It's too much Marco and I'm scared as to what will happen next! Will dad get hurt?! Will Tom get hurt?! Will Janna get hurt?! Will you get hurt?!"
Marco gave Star a serious expression and held her by the cheek. "Star, I have survived a war that ended with the death of Toffee and I survived for 30 years in another dimension, I will survive this Star. Let me assure you that. I mean, what could ruin tonight?"
Just then, The Dog slashed his sword downwards, slicing their table in two and startling the couple. "I could." The Dog replied.
Star then shot up from Marco's embrace and narrowed her eyes at The Dog. "Oh…..Can't I be left alone?!" Star groaned. "Right, that's it!" The former Princess then jumped from her seat and kicked The Dog in the face before charging at the incoming B. Utcher, Viper Rattler and Bane Whispers.
"Hey Star, wait up!" Marco called.
Now.
"….And so, we fought and we fought until Tom thought it'd be a good idea to set the restaurant on fire."
"In hindsight it would have worked if I was outside." Tom said.
"Okay, moving on to Miss Kapoo." Brantley announced. "Do you wanna-"
"Let me start by helping these teens." Miss Kapoo said. "Okay, Star, I think you need some time to yourself just to figure things out and let people be around you so you could have someone to talk to. Janna, I think you need to help Tom out to get out of his comfort zone instead of getting a bit angry at him for lying. Tom, don't lie to your girlfriend, because that is absolutely uncool. And Jackie, let Chloe explain what she's about to say instead of jumping to conclusions. And Chloe….Stay amazing."
Everyone was amazed at how quick the advise from this woman was, I mean it sounded like it could help them.
"Uh….Thanks for the advise." Janna said.
"Okay Miss Kapoo, do you wanna start from very beginning so Brantley's love for long stories can keep him satisfied and for me to spend less time with children?" Buff Frog asked.
"Okay, I'm just going to make this quick because I want to go home." Miss Kapoo took a deep breath. "Okay, me and The Dog agreed to go on a date a few weeks ago and I thought the time would be now. The Dog just wanted to have a nice night out with me but his bounty hunter buddies were pestering him to go after Star since she happened to be there. We were having a good time until Tom put an eye in his water just as a prank and that out him in a bad mood. It did return but the bounty hunters kept pestering him. And when I went to the bathroom, The Dog got bored of them pestering him and mocked Star just keep them quiet. Once I found out about that, I wasn't angry at all since I knew he wanted to go after Star and I just decided to give him permission because I realised at this state, a relationship between me and him wasn't going to work out. I did leave while the fight was ensuing, the fight he started. But once the restaurant started burning, I noticed them getting away and now here we are." Miss Kapoo took a lot of breaths simply because she had used a lot of words.
Everyone, including Brantley were trying to take in the information that was shared with them about 10 seconds ago. I mean, this was a lot of info to take in.
"Could you start again?" Brantley asked. "I forgot to start writing." Miss Kapoo groaned while Buff Frog just motioned everyone to go home.
At the Butterfly/Diaz residence, Marco had decided to sleep in Star's room to keep her company ever since finding out about her stress. Star allowed it and her dad agreed to it despite their ever growing hormones.
Marco was fast asleep with his arms wrapped around Star, but Star wasn't sleeping since she was busy thinking about what The Dog had said to her at the restaurant. While Marco assured her he'd definitely be okay, she did have this nagging feeling that something was going to happen and she didn't know if she'd be able to stop it.
