The next morning Clare had woken up a few minutes before her alarm so she switched it off-putting it in charge getting out of her bed and taking a look around. She walked up to her mirror and there were photos of her and Eli plastered on the mirror at the sides. She starts to think she really should tell Eli but if she does go for abortion it's her body she doesn't need to or does she? All of this was becoming overwhelming. It was way too early to think so she decided to get out clean clothes, a pink top bright and spring-like so she pulled out jeans, and underwear and headed to the bathroom to shower.
After Clare did all she needed to in the morning she was now fixing her hair she went downstairs her mother was already in the kitchen making herself coffee ready to head out. "Mum? The morning I thought you had left by now."
The older woman turns to Clare "I'm going in now, just forgot something" she notices Clare looking a little nauseated "Are you okay sweetheart?"
Clare quickly nodded "Yeah I'm fine I just got to get to school " she wasn't ready to tell her mum that she was pregnant yet she doesn't even know if she was keeping it or not.
Mrs Martin kisses Clare's forehead "Okay and tells Alli and Jenna I said hi" she speeds out the door.
"Will do" Clare answers after her mum left at least one of her parents was still in her life she hadn't heard of her father since that day he picked her up in grade eleven and Darcy she kind of still in contact with them by exchanging emails and Skype. She grabs her bag throws her phone inside, heads out and locking the door behind and locking the door behind her and heads to school.
Once she arrived she was now at her locker when Alli walks up to her but Clare catches her from the corner of her eye. "Alli!" She calls out.
"Clare hey how are you feeling today?" She asks with concern standing in front of her best friend.
"Still nausea and my breasts feeling sorer" she whispers the last part to Alli.
Have you thought of what you are going to do?" Alli asks.
Clare shakes her head "Abortion I guess? Eli and I have plans and adding a baby I don't know?" Deep inside she wants to keep the baby but again she was still a child even though she was 18 and allowed to vote now it still is a lot of responsibility and living with Eli in another country.
Alli smiles sympathetically "Just remember Clare whatever you decide it's your choice no one else's" she hugs Clare gently.
"Thank you, Alli, I appreciate that you are the best friend a girl could ask for" she genuinely smiles.
"I remember saying the same about you'" She chuckles remembering back in grade 10. "We both had our ups and downs but you are like My sister Clare. I'll always be here and I know you will always be there for me."
"You have been like a sister to me too even though Darcy has been gone you've been there even when it came to Eli and me" she looks at Alli.
"Very true" the bell rang "We better head to class" Alli exclaims linking arms with Clare as the girls walk to class together.
While in class Clare's phone went off she was in class thinking it was the clinic getting back to her she picked up her phone and saw it was an acceptance to Columbia University. Her eyes winded finally good news "I got in" she said out loud. Alli heard Clare turning around looking at her and smiling happily at All "I got in!" She repeated.
"To Columbia?" Alli was excited as they both said "Yes" she got up "Finally some good news" she and Clare hugged in the middle of the classroom.
A few seconds later Dallas was smiling at the two best friends but then noticed bloodstains on Clare's clothed backside. "Clare's bum" he tries to fake cough.
Alli lets go of the hug and look at Dallas "Huh?" She was confused.
Dallas repeats "Clare's bum" he lowered his voice only this time Clare was confused but then Alli saw what Dallas meant as she took off her cardigan wrapping it around Clare.
"Oh my god Clare" she was worried.
"What?" Clare asks as Alli takes her away to the bathroom.
Now in the bathroom, Alli was waiting for Clare as Clare did her thing "So a New York hospital and a home pregnancy test were both wrong?"
Alli shrugs "Period equal ls not pregnant which means no baby Eli Goldsworthy which is a good thing" she watched Clare exit the stall.
"I don't think it's my period I think there's something wrong with the baby? What should I do?" She was worried.
Alli was worried as well for Clare. She knows that Clare has been so health-wise "Go see a doctor?"
"Come with me," Clare asks.
Clare nods "Come" she whispers, putting a comforting hand on Clare's back leading her out of the bathroom, taking Clare out of Degrassi and into the car. Once in the car and belted Alli looked over squeezing Clare's hand "No matter what happens I'm here" she turned in the car looking forward as she drove out of Degrassi's car park and drove to the nearest hospital which was their local hospital.
A few hours later Clare and Alli were in the waiting area as Clare had a hospital gown when a doctor walked up "How the cramping?" The doctor asks her, looking at her clipboard.
"It's gone and basically the spotting stopped," Clare explained to the older woman.
"Okay um do you have any idea when you conceived?" The doctor asks.
"About two months just about?" Clare admits she knows how long because that was when she and Eli had sex.
The doctor adds "Based on that it is a little early for an ultrasound so we are just going to take nature and take its course. Clare, it is pretty surprising you are pregnant at all considering what your body went through with chemo."
"It's a miracle," Clare adds.
"Women never conceived after beating cancer."
"But is it possible?" Clare starts to realise that this was her only chance to conceive naturally and the babies are her soulmate after all.
After the doctor talked to her more as it hits her she wanted this baby, of course, she's for abortions but she was going to keep this baby that was growing inside even though it was just a fetus it was going to be a mix of her and Eli.
After the hospital in the car, Clare turns to Alli "I'm keeping this baby" she breathed.
"Okay and I support you now you need to tell Eli." Alli gave her a supportive squeeze on the hand.
"I guess this is real now."
