Darious tugged at the cuff of the military uniform. The material felt very different from both his robes and the clothes he'd worn when trying to pass as a civilian. Near him Darrell was pacing.

"They will most likely want to know what both myself and Rane have been up to since they last saw us," Darrell informed him. "All you have to do until we switch back is keep them on the subject of the last few days. Given we were near each other for the most part it shouldn't be too hard. Don't mention the fact those two are Sith or we were attacked by them, it will only worry my parents."

Darious watched Darrell turn and start back the way he'd come. He still wore a uniform as well. He'd passed off one of his spares for Darious to borrow for the first hour or so during the reunion.

"If either ask you about the girl I'm seeing, deflect it."

Darious returned his gaze back to his own image before looking at Darrell again. The sliver of hope they wouldn't be passible as one another died. Outside of Darious still being himself and Darrell still being Darrell he had to admit he and the commander were identical, especially when dressed in the same uniform with the same hair style.

"I want to tell them myself what's going on with her."

Darious had trimmed his hair so it was the same length and styled it. The military uniform fit perfectly. Alvar had been right that Darious had been around enough military personal it wasn't too hard to stand and move the way they had. Though for an hour? He would just have to wait and see there.

"If Laila speaks to you, just don't answer her."

That seemed more than a little rude.

"All she's after is a change of subject away from work. If it does change, you're screwed." Darrell stopped pacing and rubbed his eyes. "We're screwed. Ugh, I can't believe I agreed to this."

Alvar cracked open one of his eyes. He had been seated in the corner of the room, mediating before joining the rest of his family in the kitchen.

"I know your order can't afford to pay for a DNA test given the admiral paid for your first one and Telos paid for the second." Darrell shook his head. "And I confess to wanting to know if I have a twin or not and what is going on here. Still," he shook his head. "There had to be away which didn't involve tricking everyone."

"It is the surest means to the truth. Your parents might know something is amiss otherwise and never confess they have another child." Alvar closed his eyes.

"Oh, your lightsaber," Darrell looked at Darious. "It would be a dead giveaway you're not me." He held out his hand.

Darious eyed him.

Alvar chuckled.

"Come on. If you want this to work, then you can't have your lightsaber with you."

Alvar stood. "Darious." He held out his hand.

A long breath fled Darious. "Very well." He unclasped the lightsaber from his belt and placed it into Alvar's hand. "If you—"

"Please, I've only lost one lightsaber in my life and you could say that was Bastila's fault," Alvar teased. "I would never misplace yours."

Darious didn't release his lightsaber. "It's not a joking matter, Alvar."

Alvar bowed his head.

Darious released his lightsaber.

"One more thing," Alvar started as he turned to Darrell, "if the conversation turns to the Order as it might, how would you react?" Alvar smiled. "Just in case Darious needs to know."

Darrell frowned.

"It will be hard to keep the conversation on work for the duration of the time Darious is standing in for you. Especially given Laila Kane is unlikely to ignore seeing her son for the first time since he was taken by the Order. After all, many of the questions my own family has been asking are related to such and the life I have lived since leaving."

Darrell rubbed his eyes. "It would be hard then to keep the topic on work." He sighed. "The Jedi are needed, that's my opinion on the matter of the new Order."

That wasn't much of an opinion, but it would do. Darious just needed to keep them from digging if they wanted more on Darrell's thoughts there.

And Alvar was right. There would be no stopping changes in subject.

The group was meeting at the diner and would be there for several hours. Darious was supposed to take Darrell's place for the first thirty minutes to an hour depending. The thirty minutes was the best case, assuming Darious could slip away.

It wasn't long until they were out of the small storage area in Alan's kitchen.

Alan turned to them and nodded. "Good, you two can't be told apart now." He gave them a warm smile, though his eyes glittered, not with joy or any emotion related to a smile.

Darious frowned. While he was happy this would bring closure to what had happened to the other twin, it appeared Alan would rather have found a painless way to go about this.

"All right," – Darrell took a deep breath and rubbed his eyes – "if all goes well, we can switch at the thirty minute mark before lunch in served." He muttered, "If all goes well."

Darious bowed his head. This wasn't going to be easy on either of them.

"Listen," Darrell started then shook his head. "Never mind. Just, good luck."

Darious bit back saying he didn't believe in luck. There was no luck only the Force. It wasn't a good time and he was supposed to act like Darrell as it was.

Instead, Darious nodded.

"Also, my mother always greets my sister and I with a hug," Darrell added. "Will that be a problem?"

"While Jedi aren't used to physical contact, I have gone undercover several times," Darious stated. "It won't be a problem."

"Good. There isn't much time before they arrive, you should head out before they realize you're coming from the kitchen." He laughed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm not really known for my cooking."

Darious left the kitchen and moved from behind the counter to wait for the rest of the group to arrive. Jasper was only a few steps behind him.

"Remember," Darious started to his former padawan.

"Yeah, not to refer to you as my master given you're supposed to be the commander. I know." Jasper gave a small smile. "It's just weird how much you two do look alike."

Darious grunted. "There is no such thing as—"

"Coincidences," Jasper finished. "I know, I know. Still, it's weird."

Darious lifted his hand. Several people were approaching the diner. The time to talk was over.

Jasper bowed his head.

The door slid open and Mark entered. His wife was a step behind him with another woman appearing just behind. This had to be Laila Kane more because of how close she looked to Mark than anything else.

Mark grinned. "Glad you two could make it. I was a little worried you would try to back out, Jasper."

"Why would I?" Jasper asked, frowning.

"You know the rules on no contact with family after joining the Order and all." Mark shrugged. "Granted, I've been hearing such rules are changing."

"They are," Jasper confirmed. "More because it would be impossible for Master Travon to have dealings with the senate. And a few other reasons."

Laila smiled, her shining with warmth as she stepped up to Jasper. A small laugh fled her lips. "My, you've grown."

"Ah, thanks?" Jasper's gaze flickered to Darious before returning to Laila. "I was five when I joined the Order so it is assumed I'd grow." He chuckled. "At least I hope it would be. That would have been an awkward twenty-six years otherwise." He cleared his throat. "I'm guessing you're my mother, Laila, right?"

"I am." Laila's smile softened. "Come, let's find a table before the others arrive." Her gaze turned to Darious. "Darrell, would you mind waiting on your parents to show them to the table."

"That's fine," Darious tried to change what he would normally say which would have been "of course, ma'am." It would have been far too formal and from what he could tell they were supposed to be family in the sense Darrell's sister had married Mark.

Laila nodded and led Jasper towards a large corner booth.

Rane frowned. "Are you all right, Darrell?"

"Yes." Perhaps what he'd said wasn't the right response.

"It's just, you're normally more talkative. Mark's been withdrawn the past day as well. Did something happen yesterday?"

Darious blinked. Okay, he was overthinking this. Perhaps the commander was more used to talking than Darious was.

"I'll explain when everyone else arrives."

Rane hesitated. "If you're certain," – she turned towards the table – "then I can wait to hear it, brother." She moved to join her husband.

There had to be away to get through this with as little spoken as possible. He wasn't Darrell. It wasn't looking good Darrell's sister couldn't tell the difference between them. Granted, she hadn't been able to when Darious first arrived on Telos either.

"Darrell."

Darious turned. He had sensed two more people enter the diner while he'd been lost in thought.

"It is wonderful to see you." A woman embraced him in a tight hug.

Darious forced his muscles to remain relaxed and not stiffen. He returned the embrace.

She pulled back, hands on his arms as she looked over him. She clucked her tongue. "You've lost weight. However, are you to convince that girl you're dating to marry you when you forget about eating."

Darious let out a breath. "I've been busy with work."

"That's no excuse," Kayla chided, waging your finger before him. "You need to make time to eat or we'll be getting a call you passed out."

Unlikely given he wasn't Darrell. Jedi could last months to years without eating or drinking if they entered a deep meditative state. He had done this once before when trapped during the Civil War. It had only been a few weeks before he was found, but it had saved his life, nonetheless.

"Let the boy breathe, Kayla." The man stepped forward, smiling at Darious. "He'll be eating soon enough."

Kayla huffed. "One good meal isn't a substitute for several. At this rate his girlfriend is more likely to leave him than stay. However are we to get grandchildren then."

"Rane is still young enough—"

"One that keeps our surname." Kayla wagged her finger at Kaden. "Or are you so willing to have your line end here."

Well, they couldn't tell a difference either. Though, Kayla was Force sensitive, without training she would be unlikely to tell what was becoming clear was the one difference between Darious and Darrell. The fact Darious was a Force sensitive and Darrell was not.

Darious cleared his throat. "We should join the others."

"Right and the I will pick the best meal for you so you can get a little meat on your bones."

Ah, what?

"He's not a child," Kaden pointed out.

"He's still our child," Kayla argued as she moved to join the others. "You'll be happier when you're married."

Or she would be.

"And that girl of yours better know how to cook given you can't."

Kayla slid into a spot beside Laila and Kaden joined her. Darious took the last seat beside Jasper.

"Ah," – Kayla grinned at Jasper – "I see we have a Jedi with us. You must be Knight Jasper."

"Yes, I am."

"He's a master now," Mark corrected.

"Oh, really?" Kayla smiled. "You must be proud of him, Laila."

"I am happier he survived than anything else." Laila's features had gone white. "Listen, Jasper, perhaps it's for the best you don't keep going with the new Order and stayed here with us." She smiled at him.

Jasper blinked and frowned.

"The danger hasn't passed. The bounty is still out for Jedi and you're looking like a Jedi while wearing those robes. You can leave the Order and live in peace without fear of death."

"There is no death, there is only the Force," Jasper quoted the final phrase of the code.

Laila stiffened; eyes wide. "Jasper, that's not true."

Jasper cocked an eyebrow. "Then I should tell all the Force ghosts I've met they don't really exist," Jasper joked. He cleared his throat. "In all seriousness, no, I'm not leaving the Order. Just because I change my clothes and try to pass as a citizen never made me any less a Jedi than when I'm wearing robes. My master taught me that."

"Your master would want you to die then?" Laila demanded. "Let me guess, he died during the purge."

"No, he's one of the five who survived," Jasper stated. "And is the reason I did as well. My master is well versed in stealth and disguise. He's the only reason I survived the purge at all."

Darious bit back the urge to smile at his former padawan. Right then he wasn't his master.

"If not for him then only four Jedi would have survived the purge instead of five."

"Five?" Kayla gasped. "There are only five you left."

Jasper bowed his head. "There were ten but the five remaining of the old council were killed by a Sith awhile back. Master Surik saw to it that sith could no longer harm the remaining Jedi."

"It's too dangerous," Laila shouted. "You can't keep going down this path."

"It's my job," Jasper stated.

"Let it be someone else's. We only just got you back."

"I am a Jedi," Jasper stressed. "If I ran, I wouldn't be who I am anymore."

"The Jedi are needed," Mark pointed out. "Mother, you can't keep trying to save Jasper. It's great he's alive, but he would be trapped and not himself if we kept him from this. Right, Darrell?"

"Right. The Order is needed," Darious stated.

"As if you would know how it feels to have a family member in the order," Laila snapped at Darious.

Darious looked at her, keeping his expression blank.

"Laila," Rane started.

"No," Laila snapped, "you might be my daughter-in-law, but you have no idea how scared I was when news of the Civil War and later the purge hit. How I feared my little boy had died because of it. The only one in this diner who would understand is Alan."

"Except he's not trying to stop Little Runner," Mark pointed out.

Laila blinked. "What?"

"Oh, right, you wouldn't know." Mark took a deep breath. "The Jedi Grand Master is Alvar Tarvon. From what I gathered of it from the admiral he was the oldest surviving Jedi and one of two surviving masters."

"Who was the other?" Kaden asked, eyes bright as he leapt on the chance to change the subject.

"Umm, a Master Darious. Nice guy, but looks a little too close to Darrell." Mark chuckled. "Actually, Rane and I thought he was Darrell when we went to get Darrell when he first arrived on Telos. That's how we ended up running into Jasper in the first place."

White rimmed the couple's eyes. "What?" Kaden breathed.

Rane laughed. "It's sort of embarrassing given he was dressed as a civilian and Darrell was in full uniform."

"Yeah," Jasper agreed with a glance at Darious. "I even got them mixed up. Granted, my master was suppressing his Force sensitivity at the time."

"It's really scary how much they look alike," Mark continued. "If not for the fact Darious is always calmer and well quitter than Darrell then it would be impossible to tell them apart."

"Darrell, do you know where this Jedi is now?" Kaden asked.

"Yes."

"Get him, please." Kaden half stood.

"Why?" Darious asked.

"Please, Darrell." Kayla's face was shock white.

Darious nodded. He stood. "All right," he added. Darious slipped behind the counter and into the kitchen.

"What are you doing?" Darrell demanded when Darious appeared. "It's not been thirty minutes yet."

"They found out a Jedi who looks like you is here," Darious stated. "And want to meet me. They asked for me, you, to get him."

"Oh." Darrell sighed. "Guess you should change back then."

"Better idea." Alvar stepped forward.

"No," Darious shot it down.

Alvar shrugged.

"It would be faster than you changing. My mother isn't really the patient type."

"Very well." Darious looked at Alvar.

"Oh, come now, I'm not going to turn this into a joke."

Darious cocked an eyebrow.

Alvar just smiled in response. "Come." Alvar led the way out of the kitchen.

"After you, Master Darious," Darrell gestured for Darious to go first.

Darious nodded and followed his old friend.

Alvar had stopped before the table. "Hello, I'm Alvar," he introduced himself.

"Alan's youngest?" Laila asked.

"Apparently so." Alvar looked from her to Kayla and Kaiden. "Tell me, Mister and Misses Varnon, can you tell the difference between these two?"

Darious had stopped to Alvar's right and Darrell stood on his left.

Kayla stared. "Why are they dressed the same?"

"No," Kaiden confessed. His eyes flickered between the two of them.

Darious stood at attention, the same stance Darrell was in.

"I see." Alvar bowed his head. "Can you tell me which one you've been with since entering the diner."

Kaiden stood and moved up to Darrell given he was the closest then moved to Darious. "No, I'm sorry Darrell."

Kayla stood. "I might be able to." She hugged Darrell.

Darrell smiled and hugged her back without hesitation.

She smiled at him before moving over to Darious and hugging him.

She stepped back before he could react. "This one. He's thinner." Her eyes locked on his. "I've told you to eat more, Darrell."

Darrell winced. "I have been," he stated.

"Apologies for this discerption," Darious bowed to her, "but I'm not the commander."

Kayla paled. She stepped back, hands over her mouth. "Darious," she whispered.

"I told you the same thing on eating, master. You just meditated instead," Jasper laughed. "Glad someone else noticed you are underweight."

"It can't be." Kaiden stared at him. "How? When?"

"Why would deceive us like this?" Kayla demanded to Darrell.

"Mother, I needed to know if I had a twin or not," Darrell told her. "Why would you and father keep the fact we did from Rane and I?"

"Alvar." Darious held out his hand.

Alvar passed his back his lightsaber.

Darious turned and moved back towards the kitchen.

"Where are you going?" Kaiden asked.

"To change. It will make it easier to tell us apart." Darious slipped into the kitchen.

Alvar followed him. "Sorry for making you do that Darious, if I had known it would turn to how they met you…"

"It's fine, old friend. The commander was right, we couldn't afford a DNA test."
