Authors Notes: Hi folks sorry for the long wait on Avengers The Avatar Saga, just recently started a new job so my updates will become a little less frequent the same goes for my other stories. Also hit a bit of a writers block with this original chapter, but its overcome now and so we have a new chapter to see. Also I've recently got the new Guardians of the Galaxy game and have played the first few levels and I have to say its just as good as the MCU films comedy and all!
Who knows there maybe a crossover install for them just need to work on a story and what to cross them over with. If you have any thoughts or ideas please leave them in the reviews.
Now without any further delay lets begin. This chapter takes place in the Aftermath of voices in the night.
Chapter V:
:Faded:
A new day had risen in Republic City, and circumstances have now changed. Avatar Korra had a face to face confrontation with Amon all to deny her fears of losing her bending, but after her rescue by Avengers Black Widow and Hawkeye, as well as the others, she finally admitted her fears. The following days The Avengers came forward and made themselves known to the public to make their intentions known. So now the whole city knew they and Ms Marvel were from an alternate universe and now they intend to fight the Equalist's and bring Amon to justice.
A day has passed since that night, and in the Air Temple resting quarters, Korra lay asleep in her bed after that dramatic ambush by Amon she was still recovering. Just then the Avatar stirred from her sleeping state, she woke up and looked to see she was in her room and her hair was down. She looked to her bedside and saw that her friend Kamala Kahn was fast asleep.
She gave a warm smile at seeing her friend by her side even after everything that happened. She reached her hand out and gave her friend a slight nudge.
"Kamala." she said and her polymorph friend began to stir from her sleepy state she groaned, then she saw her friend was awake.
"Korra!" Kamala gasped. "Y..your awake!" she wasted no time pulling her friend into a hug which Korra gladly returned.
"Yeah I'm okay, are you alright?" Korra asked.
"Yeah, how are you feeling?" Kamala asked.
Korra looked down with a little regret. "Been better." She eventually said before sighing. "Kamala…I…I'm really sorry about what I said to you, I had no right to say that you've stuck with me since we got here and I was clouded by proving I wasn't afraid that..I..I'm just sorry."
Kamala smiled as she placed her hand on her friends shoulder. "Hey, it's okay I don't hold grudges and I get it we all want to prove something but it's never a sign of weakness to admit your afraid, I mean your only human."
Korra did smile at that word of wisdom. "Well said kid." Said a voice and the two girls looked to see Natasha and Clint standing in the doorway.
"Oh hey guys." Kamala greeted then decided to introduce her fellow heroes to her friend. "Korra this is Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff, AKA Hawkeye and Black Widow, it's actually thanks to them we're in one piece."
"Glad to finally meet you kid, so your the Avatar that Kamala can't stop talking about?" Clint said. "By the way killer moves in the Probending ring."
"Oh thanks." Korra thanked. "And I guess I should thank you both for saving me."
"Our pleasure, but in a way we already met a few nights ago." Clint said.
"Whu?" Korra questioned.
"The guy who shot the arrow at that Equalist in the Chi Blocker training house, it was Clint." Kamala explained.
"Wow so I guess thats why your named Hawkeye." Korra noted.
"Yep call me Robin Hood, I never miss." Clint smirked with his fingers shaped like a gun.
"That is when your shooting straight." Natasha cracked.
"Way to shoot me down Widow." Clint said.
"Well all the same thanks." Korra smiled with gratitude.
"No problem kid we're just glad we could help. Besides you looked out for Kamala so it's the least we could do." Natasha said to the Avatar. Who smiled back in response.
Just then came a knock on the door, the group looked and saw two certain Probending brothers in the doorway. "Hey this the wrong time for visitors?" Bolin asked as Pabu appeared on his shoulder.
"Mako? Bolin?" Korra said rather surprised.
"Yeah I asked them to come over, figured you could use a couple of friendly faces." Kamala said to her, to which Korra smiled.
Mako and Bolin then came over to their friend and teammate and sat down next to Kamala. "Hey how're you feeling?" Mako asked.
"Been better, listen guys about everything I…" Korra tried to explain.
"Hey it's okay Kamala already explained everything." Mako said understanding. "You were just trying to do what you felt was right. But I guess we were too caught up with the tournament pot to notice what was going on."
"Yeah we haven't been the best of friends either." Bolin said as Pabu snuggled up to Korra who stroked him back.
"No I shouldn't have been so stubborn, I just wanted to be the Avatar the city needed that I didn't think of the consequences." Korra realised.
Mako and Bolin looked in understanding and Natasha placed her hand on Korra's shoulder. "Kid, no one said you needed to be perfect, no one should expect such great things right away. Take us for example, we're not perfect but we're still human. You want my advice take a break take time to think before going after the Equalists again."
Korra had to admit Natasha did raise some good points, the very same things that Kamala and Tenzin tried to tell her. She began to realise that maybe she was right, she needed to be in the right mindset to deal with Amon. So maybe she should step back for a while.
"Oh and I shouldn't worry about Tarrlok I already handed in your resignation from his Task Force." Kamala said.
"So if your up to it we could get back to training for the Probending Championship." Mako suggested. "When your ready."
Korra smiled at Mako's understanding. "You know maybe its time I took a step back, and maybe I should spend it on the Probending ring, and spend some time on my air bending."
"Now that sounds more like the Korra we know!" Bolin said excitedly and Kamala was glad to see that her friend was taking things one step at a time. Natasha could see the potential that Kamala saw in her, and it was good that she was starting to step back a while.
Meanwhile:
In Tenzins office the other Avengers, Steve, and Tony waited with the Airbending master, namely to discuss recent events. Soon Natasha, Clint and Kamala entered the room.
"How's Korra?" Steve asked.
"She's okay starting to feel like her old self again." Kamala said happily.
"Good I'm glad." Tenzin said. "Now I've asked for you all here because since revealing yourselves to the public, the council have begun to ask questions regarding how you wish to handle the Equalists?"
The Avengers looked to each other at that very subject. "Well first things first we need to understand what we're up against, so Natasha tell us what you've learned during your time undercover." Steve said turning to Natasha.
"Well, what I know first comes at the top, yes Amon does possess the ability to take peoples bending, and the triads were just a demonstration to his followers of what he could do." Natasha explained. "But I know for a fact its nothing to do with the spirits at all, wherever his powers come from is a mystery. But those who follow him answer to him." Natasha pulls out a device which shows holograms of the people who answer to Amon namely the luitenant and the Chi Blockers.
"Incredible." Tenzin said amazed.
"The lieutenant leads the chi blockers in the field but answers to Amon, equipped with taser rods to incapacitate Benders." Natasha explained.
"We've met." Steve said glaring at remembering his first encounter with the Lieutenant when he saved Mako and Bolin.
"He's loyal to a fault but the chi blocker and Equalist numbers are growing each day, as they try to sew distrust between Benders and Non Benders." Natasha explained.
"Okay but what does kabuki boy have planned for the city?" Tony asked.
"Unclear, Amon didn't share much with me about his plans only that he intends to spread his equality to the whole city." Natasha explained.
"Then this situation is far more serious than we first imagined." Tenzin realised. "This is far more than simple terrorist acts."
"Right but theres more, while I was undercover I learned that over the past few weeks several Benders have gone missing." Natasha explained.
"Yes Tarrlok mentioned something about some benders vanishing without a trace, he suspected Amons doing." Tenzin voiced.
"Thats what he says not what I say." Natasha said. "I did some asking around in the Equalists and none of them said anything about abducting Benders other than the triads, which means either this is a coincidence or…"
"Or maybe the Equalists aren't the only anti bending group in this city?" Kamala wondered.
"That be my guess." Tony realised.
Steve began to think, though kidnapping benders to make an example of would benefit the Equalists. However at the same time it didn't seem like Amons style, based on what he heard at the rally, he would just take their bending then toss them away or lock them up, he's not that cruel. All they had were questions so it was time to seek answers.
"Well the first thing would be to investigate the disappearances and see if we can discern a pattern." Steve suggested. "We should co operate with the police and see if we can find some answers."
Kamala however wasn't sure about that idea. "Uh Steve, no offence but I don't think Chief Beifong maybe up to the idea of working with vigilantes. I know that from personally meeting her."
"Indeed, I do not believe Lin will be open to the thought of working with you all." Tenzin agreed.
"Then we need to meet with her and convince her we're on the same side." Cap stated. "Given we have a common enemy regarding Amon she maybe willing to listen. I'll head down there and try and negotiate a parley."
"I'll go with you." Natasha volunteered.
"I'd best accompany you as well given this is city business, so as part of the council I am charged to oversee this." Tenzin said.
"Oh I don't know Tenzin, Nat can be a good negotiator when the need calls for it." Clint voiced.
"What about the rest of us Cap?" Tony asked.
"Remain here until I say otherwise." Cap said.
"Aye aye Cap." Kamala saluted to which Cap smiled at.
Meanwhile:
Elsewhere deep within the mountains far outside the city was an old abandoned foundry complex. The outside looked rundown and condemned almost as if no one had been there in years.
Just then a truck pulled up to the site, and stepping out of the back were a few Chi Blocker Equalists. While coming out of the front was Amon and the Lieutenant.
"This is the address they gave us." The Lieutenant said but still had a sense of doubt. "Amon what makes you think we can trust these people?"
"I understand your concerns Lieutenant, however if this MODOK can aid in our mission of Equality, and the current situation regarding The Avengers." Amon explained. "Then I am willing to hear their proposition."
All of a sudden before the Lieutenant could answer the doors of the building opened to reveal a pair of A.I.M agents armed with their laser rifles. They stood to attention like an honour guard as their boss MODOK exited the building.
"Gentlemen greetings." MODOK addressed them. "Thank you for accepting my invitation."
"Yes, now I believe we have business to discuss." Amon simply said.
"Of course please follow me." MODOK said as he hovered leading the two men into the warehouse. When they stepped inside, they saw AIM agents working round the clock to turn a condemned building into a base of operations. However as they got to the centre of the room, the floor suddenly sank it was a platform and were heading down a shaft.
Eventually the lift brought them down into what looked like a large complex within the mountain side itself. Within the complex AIM agents and technicians that were brought over after the cross dimensional explosion in Siberia, were working round the clock using what materials they had scavenged to make this into a working base of operations.
Metal it seems was stripped from vehicles they stole as well as metal work they melted down from the abandoned building up top. Amon and the Lieutenant were rather impressed with the facility they were setting up.
"As you can see despite limited resources we are more than capable of setting up a base of operations. We here at Advanced Idea Mechanics believe in research and development into power that could change the world enough to overpower the worlds governments to AIM's vision." MODOK explained. "Upon arrival into this world after my confrontation with The Avengers I was staggered to learn of people capable of controlling the elements. However much like yourself Amon I do not believe such a power should be controlled hence in my world I sought to replace super powers like the Avengers."
"You said you could help me in cleansing this world of bending to realise equality for Non Benders." Amon said. "How would you help me accomplish such a feat?"
MODOK smirked at that prospect. "Ah I see a straight to the point kind of person are we. Yes I can respect that." He said. "For you see while your power to remove bending maybe great it is insufficient for your needs."
The Lieutenant was rather offended by what this enormous head person had to say about his employer. So he drew his taser sticks and pointed one at MODOK himself.
"How dare you insult Amon that way!" He said with his taser sticks crackling with electricity. He was quickly met with MODOK firing a blast from the crystal in his forehead zapping the stick out of the lieutenants hands.
"Before your Lieutenant interrupted, I was about to say that no one person can cleanse an entire city." MODOK explained.
"Our numbers grow everyday soon all Non Benders in the city will realise that equality is possible, once the Benders are removed." Amon explained.
"An ambition we both share my friend. I wish to rid my world of super powers and your ability may hold the key to realising this for both our worlds." MODOK said. "No longer shall the world rely on those like the Avatar to deal with the affairs of others."
Amon began to see this rather unusual individual was determined in his words which carried every inch of conviction. "Indeed, but then again there is the matter of not just the Avatar, but also The Avengers."
"Oh make no mistake I know how much of a hindrance they can be, they stand in the way of the tide of progress." MODOK said with venom in his voice. "However they have one fault they put the lives of others above their own. If you wish your plans will go unhindered. Perhaps you should strike an act of fear into the Benders. Your act with the Avatar only did minimal effect but instead attack the city, for if you attack the act of power shall show the Benders we are not to be reckoned with!"
"What do you propose?" Amon wondered.
MODOK smirked as he pressed a few buttons on his control chair and it brought out a canister which contained some kind of dark gas. "This is Dark Terrigen a gas which was made by its original source Terrigen the source of Inhuman powers in my world. However its dark counterpart is lethal to Inhumans and by that logic, to Benders."
The Chi Blockers weren't sure where MODOK was going with this but Amon had a good idea of what it mean. "Then if it's a demonstration of our power they want, then a demonstration they get!" Amon finally said with every bit of conviction.
Republic City Police Department:
Within the city itself stood the Republic City Police department. In the main reception Tenzin escorted Captain America and Black Widow into the prescient. The two Avengers were in their full uniform as they walked alongside the Airbending master. Approaching the desk someone was there, it was the police sergeant that Kamala accidentally assaulted.
"Ah sergeant Saikan." Tenzin said which got the sergeants attention.
"Good afternoon Councilman Tenizn, and company." Saikan then noticed the company that the Airbending master was keeping.
"Ah yes we have an appointment with Chief Beifong." Tenzin explained to him. "She's expecting us."
"Oh of course please follow me." Saikan explained showing the three the way to Beifong's office. Whilst on the way up Tenzin spoke to the Spy and Super Soldier.
"Now I should warn you Lin is a rather proud person, and well does tend to be a tad intimidating." Tenzin explained. "Just be cautious and don't push anything."
"Tenzin do not worry, I've met intimidating people before especially from my commanding officer when I was in army training." Captain America assured.
"Yeah and you never saw the people who made me who I am." Widow explained. "Besides I know how to act around people like this. Just be glad we didn't bring Tony with us."
Tenzin was more worried than ever, not just for Lin, not just for the two Avengers but rather for his past history with the chief of police. Very early history. Soon they passed through the main offices of the officers and detectives. Two of which were hanging around their desk, one had a dark trench coat and he was tall with a long moustache and a goatee with black hair. While his partner was short with fuzzy hair and a moustache. The two noticed the Air Bending Master and his two companions.
"Well well these must be two of these Avengers we've heard about." Gang said looking at them, the detective especially admired the glistening of the shield on the Captains back.
"Nice shield pal carry it round a lot?" Gang then asked. Cap just ignored them.
"Yeah and his partner has good looks too. Think she could convince me if I was a crook" Lu joked giving Black Widow a certain look. She just looked then with one swift motion she pulled on the two detectives moustaches. They looked at the Spy with begging eyes.
"Is this convincing enough for you?" Black Widow asked in a knowing tone the two detectives didn't like.
"Natasha." Captain America said getting her attention and gave her a look that said let them go. So she did and she joined her comrades. This would probably make the two detectives think twice before looking at Widow the wrong way again unless they wanted her to live up to her name.
Within her office Chief Beifong sat quietly undisturbed, that is until there came a knock on the door. "Yes." She called.
The door opened to reveal her sergeant with his visiting company. "Chief. Councilman Tenzin is here to see you along with Captain Rogers and Miss Romanoff."
Lin just sighed a breath at that knowing Tenzin was with two of the costumed vigilantes who called a press conference a couple of days ago. She knew this would come sooner or later.
"Send them in." Lin said and so Saikan then stepped aside and let Tenzin, Captain America and Black Widow enter the chief of polices office. The door then closed and Lin turned her chair around to face the three in the room.
"Good afternoon Lin a pleasure as always." Tenzin greeted trying to break the tension.
"Can the garbage Tenzin and lets get straight to the point." Lin said rather harshly. "I take it the reason your here is on the matter of the Equalists." Cap and Widow could see there was some tension between the airbender and the chief of police. However they came here for a purpose.
"Well first Chief Beifong it is good to see you again." Cap greeted just to ease the tension. "We came to see you today regarding the recent events of the Equalists."
"You mean after your speech about being from another world and help the Avatar protect the city I know I was there." Lin explained to the Captain.
Cap just sighed as he kept his cool head. "Yes and right now we have an urgent matter to discuss, we have viable intel from my colleague Natasha, she spied on the Equalists from the inside since our arrival to the city. We'd be willing to share it with you."
Though Lin wasn't too keen on the idea of working with vigilantes from another universe or not. However she did see Amon as a potential threat. "Alright lets hear it but keep it brief." Lin finally said.
So Natasha explained everything she learned during her time undercover in the Equalists, the man power, the Lieutenant, and his operations. She then explained the situation of the missing Benders. Which did peak the chief of police's interest, but even more so how Black Widow was even able to infiltrate Amons ranks to begin with.
"Okay, I'll admit infiltrating the Equalists was impressive and we'll make sure to put this information to use." Lin said to them. "And, the number of Benders that have gone missing has gone up over the past couple of weeks, you suspect Amon is behind this?"
"No, thats not his style he'd take the benders just to remove their bending but then he'd either toss them aside or keep them prisoner." Black Widow explained.
"Which is why we're here, we need access to the missing person reports so we might be able to deduce a pattern or find a clue that could lead us to their kidnapper." Captain America explained to the Police Chief. However Lin wasn't too sure.
"I'm not sure I should let you have access to those files." Lin said sternly.
"We can find those benders and make sure nothing happens to anyone else." Natasha questioned.
"This matter is for the police its just as I told The Avatar and that Kamala kid of yours. Your pretty speech may impress most people but not me, walking in promoting vigilante justice." Lin said to the spy and Super Soldier. "My Metal benders and I can handle this situation."
However Natasha wasn't having this despite Tenzins worried eyes protesting. "Really we got closer to Amon than you did and for these kind of people we are the police!"
"Oh really, you really want to test who's the better law enforcers with me missy?" Lin challenged ready to bend a metal cable but Widow simply draws her gauntlet guns quicker right in her face.
"Careful, I'm a quick draw." Natasha warned intently.
"Okay okay everyone just breath!" Tenzin said trying to calm the situation. Cap stepped in and grabbed Black Widows arm to make her lower it. He then turned to Chief Beifong.
"Please, Chief Beifong. I respect you'll do what you can to protect your city and we do respect your commitment and pride to what you do." Captain America reasoned. "But trust us, we've seen far more of the world than you know. If we don't work together Amon will tear this city apart. I understand your mother Toph Beifong knew Korra's predecessor they worked to establish the balance that he wanted for this city. I also know a dedicated person when I see one."
Lin was completely silent after she'd taken in everything the Super Soldier had just said. She wouldn't admit it but he did raise some good points, and could clearly see he really wanted to co-ordinate with her to stop these terrorists. Even from her first brief meeting with him, she did overhear what he said to his colleagues. She couldn't speak for his red haired spitfire but she had to admire his dedication as well.
"Hm..gotta say Captain you do have a way with words." Lin said as she lowered her gauntlets and Widow lowered her arms. "Follow me I'll show you the files." Lin said as she moved from her desk to lead the two Avengers and Airbending master to the records room.
"I..I'm speechless." Tenzin said amazed.
"Wow, do you have a speech for everything, or do you save that for women in work?" Natasha said to Cap with a teasing look.
"Funny Nat." Cap said shaking his head as he followed Lin to the records room.
"Well I must say Steven it does take a lot to get through to Lin, let a lone impress her." Tenzin complimented.
"I'm guessing you have experience with that right?" Black Widow said, which made Tenzin freeze in shock, he knew what she was talking about.
"H..how did you?" Tenzin stuttered.
"Oh please it's written all over your face." Nat simply scoffed as they went down to the records room. Cap simply shrugged as Tenzin followed.
Air Temple Island:
Meanwhile back at the Air Temple, Kamala was sitting outside with Naga petting her head while Tony stood almost as if he was waiting for something. The Airbender kids were playing around. Meelo was on an air scooter as was Ikki, while Jinora was reading one of her books. Eventually Kamala took an interest into what she was reading, so she went over to her.
"Hey Jinora, what're you reading?" Kamala asked, sitting down next to her.
"Oh well its a book that my Gran Gran Katara wrote, its about her adventures with Gramp Gramp." Jinora explained.
"You mean Avatar Aang?" Kamala asked.
"Yes, she made about three books about their adventures with Great Uncle Sokka, Zuko, Toph and Suki during the war with the Fire Nation." Jinora explained.
"Wow that sounds amazing!" Kamala said amazed.
"Yeah I've read them so many times, just got to the part about the long wonder through Wong Si Tongs desert after Appa, Gramp Gramp Aang's sky bison was taken by sand benders." Jinora explained sharing the book for the young polymorph to see. Kamala instantly took an interest.
Just then Mako arrived at the island he was meeting Korra for training at the Pro Bending arena. Right on cue the Avatar in training exited with a duffle bag in her hands. Kamala then noticed Mako arriving.
"Hey Mako." Kamala greeted.
"Hey Kamala." Mako greeted then noticed Korra heading down the steps of the Air Temple. "Korra you ready to go?" Mako asked.
"You bet team captain, and thanks for coming to pick me up." Korra thanked.
"Yeah and they say shivery is dead, my dear Mako your such a gentleman." Kamala teased the two.
Mako noticed that Tony was looking up at the sky, it was almost as if he was waiting for something. "Hey whats up with Tony?" Mako asked.
Korra herself wasn't really sure, and a few moments ago, she remembered that Clint had left earlier that afternoon to get something. What it was though she didn't know.
"I have no idea." Korra simply shrugged. "Clint said he went to get something, didn't say what?"
While the two talked Tony lit up as he noticed something in the sky. "Ah finally!" He said loudly which got everyones attention. Kamala looked up and beamed knowing what she saw in the sky.
She got up and ran to the courtyard just as everyone heard a rather loud humming sound getting louder and louder. Jinora was also curious, Ikki and Meelo stopped playing for a moment and went over to where Tony was standing as did Mako and Korra.
"Uh Kamala, Tony whats that noise? And what exactly are you waiting for?" Korra asked.
"Ah there." Tony pointed and everyone looked to see a blip in the sky it was so high up they couldn't tell what it was.
"W..what is that?" Mako asked.
"Is..is it an airship?" Jinora asked.
"Its…it's a bird?" Ikki wondered.
Then hovering down to the ground looked like a futuristic looking grey and light silver jet with red streaks and on the tail fins was the Avengers symbol. The landing gear emerged from below and the gusts from the engines nearly blew everyone away if Korra didn't erect a wall with her Earth bending.
Pema had heard all the commotion from outside and came to see what was going on. She was startled to see this rather large craft land outside the Air Temple. The wings swung up to meet the roof of the craft.
"What on Earth!" Pema said in surprise it was a miracle the shock didn't put her straight into labour.
The group headed round to the back of the jet and its cargo entrance opened revealing a smirking Hawkeye. "Hey guys, mind if I park here?" Clint smirked.
"What?! How.. how the heck did you get the Quinjet here?" Kamala said amazed.
"Quin what?" Mako asked.
"Those are two interesting questions." Hawkeye said coming down the gang ramp. "To answer Kamala's question, after Nat found me we picked up a familiar signature and traced it to the outskirts of the city, it turns out our ride got caught in that Nornstone light show in Siberia." Clint explained. "So we hid out here and fixed her up, how do you think we sent that message to Tony. Now for the kids question, this beauty is our personal mode of transportation the Quinjet."
Tony headed up into the jet and with Korra, Makos and the kids curiosity perked they went in to take a look with Kamala close behind. When they entered they were in for a shock, for what they saw was beyond advanced more than the steampunk tech they have in Republic City. The passenger bay and Cockpits looked so advanced. The benders were simply bewildered and amazed by all of this.
"Whoa, nice!" Mako said amazed. "But how does this thing even fly.
"Well its like I've been telling Korra, in our world we have more advanced tech." Kamala explained.
"Yeah your worlds tech isn't too far off but still a few years away from this kind of thing." Tony said as he opened one of the compartments near the left passenger chair. The compartment revealed some tools. "Ah good now with the tech on the jet I should be able to get my suit up and running one hundred percent, and who knows maybe more besides."
"A relief to hear sir, because that dynamo you made out of car parts and scrap metal was…rather stone age." JARVIS said.
Kamala just chuckled at that sentiment as did Korra. "Wait Jarvis did you just crack a joke?" Korra asked.
"I believe I did Miss Korra." JARVIS replied.
"So you guys made all this tech to help people!" Mako said amazed. "Wow Mr Sato would kill to see things like this."
"Actually I built it." Tony pointed out as he looked through the tools. "Caps the leader, I just build everything, design everything and make everybody look good."
Mako was impressed. Ikki and Meelo hopped onto the chairs and looked around the passenger bay, while Jinora was intrigued by the cockpit. It was then Mako remembered something.
"Oh yeah that reminds me." Mako said as he reached into his pocket and went over to the armoured Avenger. "Hey Tony, I ran into Asami on the way over here, she wanted me to give this to you."
Mako handed Tony a small card which he noticed had the Future Industries logo on it. "Whats it say Tony?" Kamala asked.
"Well looks like Hiroshi and Asami have invited me to look around Future Industries and for lunch at his mansion tomorrow afternoon." Tony read from the invitation.
"Whoa, lucky you." Korra said still a little unsure about Mako's new girlfriend.
"Well who am I to decline a ladies invitation." Tony said. "I'll even wear my best suit."
Meanwhile: Republic City Police Department:
Meanwhile in the records room of the Police Department. Captain America, Black Widow, Lin and Tenzin were looking over the case reports. Namely on the abduction reports on the missing Benders. It was quite a large pile to go through.
"People went missing about a few weeks now, we haven't been able to find them. Now with the Equalists we may have a connection." Lin said as Widow looked over some of the files.
Widow and Cap were paying close attention to the details of the abductions, and seeing if they were connected to Amon in anyway. However Natasha being an Agent of SHIELD could smell something was off, also based from how Kamala, Korra and Mako found the Triads headquarters when Bolin was caught.
"Hm according to the reports the Benders that went missing disappeared without a trace." Natasha read. "Any indication of a struggle?"
"No I had my officers examine the scenes there was no signs of a struggle at all." Lin said.
"Which means they weren't taken fighting." Cap realised. "And based on what Kamala, Korra and Mako witnessed when Bolin was abducted the Equalists would attack while their victims put up a fight. But given there were these Chi Blockers they could act fast without causing a scene."
"Thats strategy, but if they were abducted they'd need somewhere to either ditch them or hold them somewhere." Natasha realised.
"But it doesn't sound like their motive Amon would just take the bending then release them to send a message, I've seen this kind of thing many times before." Cap said, however he needed to be sure. "Chief could you take us to one of the crime scenes?"
"Sure but I don't know what else your going to find?" Lin wondered.
Soon they headed out onto the streets, and in one of the police motor cars they arrived at one of the crime scenes. Which was an alley way on a street about seven blocks away from Kyoshi bridge. Lin stepped out of the drivers seat while Cap got out of the passenger seat while Tenzin and Black Widow got out of the back. They went to the alley and Natasha took a look around the scene. She felt the floor below her while Cap looked at the surrounding walls.
"Given the reports the only way the bender was abucted could come from two positions, they could leap down from the roof top and stun them, or wait in the shadows to strike." Black Widow realised.
However when Cap saw the end wall he noticed something on the ground near the end wall. "Hold on." Cap approached the spot. It looked like a scuff mark of somekind.
"What is it?" Tenzin asked as he and the others came over.
"Looks like a scuff mark of some kind." Cap explained, while Natasha took a closer look.
"Looks like something metal struck here, but it doesn't look consistent with a Chi Blockers bola." Natasha realised. "What could do this?"
However before anyone could say anything suddenly they heard a rather loud explosion. They hurried out of the alley and saw a column of smoke rising from the downtown area.
Lin was started as she reached for the radio in her vehicle. "Chief Beifong to central 10-80 downtown move it!"
Cap and Widow could see this was trouble so the super soldier opened his com line. "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"
On Air Temple island the other Avengers heeded the call, after quickly mending his suit Tony armoured up as Iron Man. Hawkeye readied the quiver and his arrows with bow in tow. Kamala shrunk down with her powers and grew again assuming her identity as Ms Marvel.
"Stand aside guys heroes at work." Iron Man said as he blasted off into the sky and Hawkeye readied the Quintet as the kids stepped off.
Ms Marvel moved to board the Quinjet with the other Avengers taking one last look at Korra and Mako. "I'll see you guys at training." She called.
Korra was feeling a little hesitant, she wanted to go with them, but a part of her still wasn't sure if this was the right time to go back into action. She looked up as the Quinjet disappeared into the sky. So she headed off with Mako to the Pro Bending training. Mako was a little surprised that Korra didn't go with Kamala but it was easy to figure out why.
In the downtown area there was a building fire which was caused by an explosion. The fire department had arrived on site, a majority of them were water benders they bent water from the trucks tanks and used it to try and put out the fires. While the police force had arrived to try and evacuate the building. One metal bender was a escorting a small family of a mother father and son out of the building. When suddenly a second explosion caused some rubble to fall towards them before the officer could act. Suddenly the rubble didn't hit them. They looked up and saw Iron Man was holding the rubble up with his jet boots.
"You best move it people!" Iron Man called and the officer moved to get the small family away while the armoured Avenger tossed it away.
Inside the building was a burning blaze there were non benders trapped inside the building. A young girl was in the corridor trying to get out, when suddenly a wooden beam collapsed and trapped her under it. "Ahh!" She cried she tried to lift it but it was no good.
When another beam was about to collapse. Suddenly a certain shield slammed into it knocking it back. She looked up to see Captain America arrive with Black Widow in tow. The super soldier lifts the beam off the girl while Widow pulls her clear.
"Hang tight we're gonna get you out of here." Widow assured.
Cap swung a corner and saw what looked like a Firebender trying to hold the fire back from the blaze when suddenly they saw another going insane with his powers uncontrollably. It was almost as if he'd gone mad.
"Whats the matter with you Satoshi!" Cried the other fire bender who protected some of the non benders behind him.
"Ah I can't stop I can't stop it!" Cried the Fire bender it looked like he was very terrified.
He unleashed another fire blast only for Captain America to jump in and block it with his shield. "Stand down son, this fire is too much of a blaze!"
"I can't stop I keep telling you all that!" Cried the Firebender named Satoshi. "I..I can't control it!"
"Stay calm we're going to try and help you." Cap said to him and while he slowly approached, while it did seem to calm the Firebender down his powers suddenly lashed out and it nearly hit Cap if a sudden electric shock to the fire bender didn't knock him out cold.
Cap looked to see Black Widow was the one who fired one of her stun disks. "We gotta get these people out." She said.
Outside the building Lin coordinated the police efforts to evacuate the residence and keep the public clear. Suddenly they heard a cry for help and a brother sister pair were at the window. They were trapped in their room and couldn't jump. However just then Iron Man appeared and offered his hands.
"Grab on don't worry I'll hold onto you." Iron Man said and so the two children while hesitant climbed out the window and grabbed onto the armoured Avenger. He flew them down to street level. Suddenly the roof of the building started to collapse it would've nearly hit him if suddenly a large earth rock crashed into the rubble. He looked from its direction and it came from below. It was fired by Lin Beifong who simply looked away as she backed the crowds away.
The Quinjet arrived on the scene with the rear door opening to reveal Ms Marvel and Korra ready to jump. "Try not to have too much fun down there Kid!" Clint called.
Ms Marvel smiled and shook her head as she leaped from the jet. To slow her down Ms Marvel extended her hand and grabbed onto one of the street lamps.
Just then they heard an explosion from above and it was in one of the windows which startled everyone. Ms Marvel gasped in shock. She looked and saw a woman hanging from the wall above and she was loosing her grip.
Ms Marvel acted fast and ran to stand under where the woman was hanging. "EMBIGGEN!" she called and extended her hands which grew enormous. The woman screamed as she fell but landed in the polymorphs hands who lowered her to the ground.
The woman was startled as the Metal Bending officers helped her off her hands but didn't even give the hero her thanks. "Uh your welcome!" Ms Marvel called.
Suddenly, leaping out the window was Cap with his shield up front ramming down the window with a child in his a blaze erupted out of the window near Cap, suddenly an earth wall erupted from the ground shielding him and the child. He looked and saw it was Chief Beifong who protected him. Cap gave a grateful nod in response.
"Uh if your done showing off!" Called a voice and the two looked up to see Natasha standing at the broken window. "Could use a little help."
Lin wasted no time and bent an earth ramp which reached up to the window. "Okay everyone one at a time." Lin called and so the people slid down the ramp quickly.
"This isn't gonna do much Cap if we don't calm this fire!" Iron Man called on the coms.
"Tony! Clint! Your up!" Cap called on the coms.
Iron Man readied a missile in his left gauntlet while Hawkeye stood in the cargo area and readied an arrow for this task. "Ready tin man?" Clint called.
"Okay robin hood on three." Iron Man called as his hud linned up the target. "One…two…" Hawkeye took aim with his arrow and… "THREE!"
They fired their respective arrows/missile which crashed into the windows of the apartment building. A loud explosion was heard and the rest of the fire was deprived of the oxygen by the arrow and missile.
"BOOM! Outstanding shot!" Hawkeye called from the Quinjet while Tony chuckled on his armour hud.
The people cheered their saviours of the day and Lin looked from afar and saw just now what these Avengers were really capable of. However they still had a long way to go for earning her trust but today she was more than pleased.
"Well I'll be damned." Lin said silently.
The following day:
With a camera flash later, it wasn't long before The Avengers actions made front page news. The following day it spread like wildfire. In the Probending training gym Korra was back at it. Catching the training ball as it was tossed to her, while Kamala watched from the sidelines.
"Wow Kamala you and those other Avengers did great with that fire yesterday!" Bolin said as he caught the training ball.
"Well we aren't called Earths Mightiest Heroes for nothing." Kamala said, you should see us when we have Hulk and Thor with us then Amon would be running scared."
Korra just smiled at that. "Well from what you told me Kamala they're certainly the heavy hitters, well next to Cap anyway."
"Yeah, and you know Korra, if you ever want to join us in training your more than welcome to even on a few missions." Kamala offered.
"Uh yeah thanks Kamala, I might like that. But maybe right now I should take it easy." Korra said tossing the ball to Mako who caught it. Kamala knew Korra still didn't think she was up to being the Avatar at the moment, given she was still recovering from her trauma.
"Thats the spirit Korra!" Mako tried encouragingly and so the group were about to move to disk throwing when all of a sudden.
"Good afternoon my fellow Equalists. This is your leader Amon." The radio sounded off getting their attention.
"Speak of the devil." Kamala said.
"I'm sure by now you have heard of the recent actions of the Avatars so called new allies the Avengers. Who wish to establish the balance between Benders and non Benders." Amons voice announced. "This is a lie, they are traitors who serve our bending oppressors still believing in the fools hope of coexistence! Well I tell you now this does not hamper our mission of equality it is time we send The Avengers a message they will never forget!"
The radio went back to normal leaving the group to look at each other. "Well thats bad." Bolin said.
"Oh please Bolin its a classic villain move, he want us to think we're not getting to him but we are and it'll only be a matter of time before he says CURSES FOILED AGAIN!" Kamala scoffed having heard speeches like this before from AIMs ongoing campaign against Inhumans and the Avengers before they were exposed.
"Wish I had your confidence Kamala." Mako said before looking to Korra. "You doing okay?"
"Yeah I'm good." Korra said confidently but still trying to get over the dramatic confrontation she had with Amon. "Besides Kamala's right what happened then was just to psych out the city but it'll take more than that." She said.
"Atta girl now lets get to it Fire Ferrets we got a tournament to win!" Kamala said encouragingly before pulling out a whistle and blowing it. The group chuckled and got back to training.
Meanwhile:
Elsewhere just outside the Future Industries foundry stood Hiroshi and his daughter Asami. They were waiting for their invited guest.
"He's running a little late dad?" Asami asked.
"Yes, but I'm sure he'll show up soon." Hiroshi assured.
No sooner he said that they suddenly heard a blast from above and dropping down in front of them was Iron Man the loud slam when he landed spooked the two of them. However given they recently found out from the press conference a couple of days Iron Man stood up and the armour opened to reveal Tony dressed in a gray suit and stepped out of the suit.
"Sorry I'm late hard to find a rail car in rush hour." Tony simply said as he turned to the armour. "Pick me up soon JARVIS."
"Of course sir." JARVIS said as the Armour blasted off into the sky. Tony then turned to the industrialist and his daughter.
"I hope I'm not overdressed." Tony said gesturing to his suit.
"Actually you look rather dashing." Asami said.
"Mr Stark I'm glad you could join us today." Hiroshi said shaking Tony's hand.
"Please call me Tony we're all friends here." Tony assured.
"Then it's Hiroshi, why don't we go inside and I show you some of my facilities." Hiroshi offered and so he and Asami lead Tony inside the building.
When they were inside the workers were assembling Sato Mobiles left and right. Despite the steampunk age of industry Tony did have to admire the iron machinery, it took him back to when he was a kid.
"Wow Hiroshi this is quite an operation you got here." Tony complimented.
"Why thank you, Tony I can tell your an industry man yourself." Hiroshi said.
"Well spotted, you know this takes me back to when I was young, my dad took me round his assembly line when I was younger." Tony said. "My dad was a visionary, some of the machinery you have here in the city back home we have things that assemble and send out cars faster than a bakery."
"So you have Satomobiles back where your from?" Asami asked out of interest.
"Yeah but we call them cars." Tony said before chucking. "You know my dad actually invented a flying car once."
"Flying car?" Hiroshi wondered.
"Yeah, he was something of an innovator he pretty much built Stark Industries with his own two hands." Tony reminisced. "When he left it to me when I reached age twenty one I took over and changed the face of it with new technologies and smarter weapons."
"You built weapons?" Asami said with concern.
"Yeah when I was a..diferent man, but after I had an accident I realised that weapons was yesterdays news, and so I switched to self sustaining clean energy." Tony explained.
This brought up a different subject for Asami. "So in that press conference the other day you said your all from a different world to ours." She said. "So whats it like there?"
Tony gladly changed the subject. "I'll show you." Tony pulled out his phone and with one tap activated its holo screen function showing images of New York and other cities.
"Whoa!" Asami gasped.
"Incredible!" Hiroshi said in surprise he had never before seen anything like this.
"This is where I'm from New York city, its kinda like Republic City, and while your making progress our world is a great few years ahead." Tony explained. "We have planes that fly in the sky flying greater distances, heck even advanced satellites and ships that reach the boundaries of outer space."
"This..this is amazing and such great and tall sky scrapers." Hiroshi said amazed.
"Yeah but that doesn't mean crime still isn't the same, but luckily The Avengers aren't the only heroes on duty." Tony said.
He showed footage of a girl falling from a building when suddenly a certain hero dressed in red and blue with web like patterns, with gray web shooters on his wrists and a black spider symbol on his chest with a red circular spider symbol on his back swung in and grabbed the girl mid air. He landed on the ground with her safely.
"Your most welcome from your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man." He said to the girl before firing a web line from his hand and swung away latched onto a building and started crawling on the wall.
"Did..did he just do what I think he did?!" Asami said surprised.
"Yeah that kid has talent, I even helped upgrade his gear." Tony said as he shut down his holo phone.
"So your world has benders too?" Hiroshi said.
"Well technically their super powered beings and while most can't control the elements they each have their own unique powers." Tony explained. "So yeah our worlds aren't that different."
Suddenly they saw a sudden steam eruption from one of the machines. It startled them and the workers, the CEO his daughter and visitor hurried down to see what the problem was. The workers tried to calm the situation.
"What happened?" Hiroshi asked one worker.
"Sir we're not sure the machine just clanked for a moment then steam erupted. Tony could see from the lift machine what the problem is however someone beat them to it.
"Hold on I think I see the problem." Asami went over to examine the lift machine. Opening a side panel and examined it. "Ah here it is." She said before turning to the worker. "Pass me a wrench."
So the worker did as she said and handed her a wrench, after some tweaking in the panel and the mechanics inside, Asami closed the panel then turned to the workers at the power switch.
"Try it now!" She called. So the worker flicked a switch on the wall near the fuse box. Then within an instant the lift started working again lowing the SatoMobile on there down to the ground.
The workers breathed a sigh of relief while the beauteous girl looked proud of her work. Tony and her father observed from afar.
"Wow, she's good you must be proud of her Hiroshi?" Tony said to him.
"Indeed she's a smart as her mother, but the engineering side I taught her all she knows. Hopefully someday she'll put Future Industries on the map more than I imagined." Hiroshi said with pride.
"Well I was as engineering genius when I was her age, so I can defiantly see that in the future." Tony smiled, he looked at the beauteous girl and had to admit. "She has talent." He said to himself.
Meanwhile: Republic City Police Station:
Within an interrogation room within the police department, Lin, Black Widow and Hawkeye stood before the fire bender Satoshi who Widow subdued in the fire. By all indications, it seemed he was the one who started the fire after taking witness statements. To Hawkeye this seemed like an attempt by Amon to sew distrust between the Bender and Non Bender communities. However Lin needed to know, and Natasha could smell a rat.
"Look I told you before I don't know what happened I just lost control of my bending, I wasn't in control!" Satoshi pleaded.
"So you've told us." Lin said. "You realise arson is a serious offence it could have you locked up for years."
"Please I'm innocent!" The fire bender pleaded.
"Okay why don't you tell us just what happened before the fire, and don't lie I'll tell!" Natasha said rather sternly.
Hawkeye decided to step in before this got nasty. "Hey hey easy you two why don't we just try good cop bad cop."
"Shut up!" Lin snapped.
"Not now!" Black Widow said too and Clint instantly backed off.
"Sheesh I'm getting it from all sides." He said to himself.
"Look do you remember what happened before the fire?" Black Widow then asked sitting down.
"I..I don't know!" He said in a panic.
"Hey hey easy pal, just calm down and tell us slowly, I know you remember some little detail." Hawkeye said.
So thats what the young fire bender did he stayed calm and then thought for a moment. "Well I remember cooking in my apartment, then I heard a knock on the door." he explained. "I opened it to see a small box at the door, I opened it and then…then..it blasted some kind of smoke in my face."
"Smoke?" Lin asked. However the mention of smoke got Black Widows attention.
"What sort of smoke?" Widow asked.
"It it looked dark blue, then the next thing I knew my bending was acting crazy and I..I lost control! I know it sounds crazy." The Firebender said to them.
"Yeah it does smoke that causes fire bending to rage uncontrollably?" Lin doubted.
However Black Widow knew differently just from that small description and story she looked to Hawkeye with an alerted look. They realised there was only one thing that could do this.
Elsewhere:
Meanwhile within the city all ran like clockwork. The trains on the bridges above ran through the city with its passengers on board. The train pulled into the station and its passengers stepped off. The driver was getting ready for the next shift. When suddenly he felt a large electric shock which stunned him. He fell to the ground revealing the Equalist lieutenant was there with two masked chi blockers.
"Okay lets move." He called to the party behind, and revealed a pair of A.I.M agents carrying in what looked like a device with a large container of dark blue gas. So they attached it to the floor of the drivers cabin and disposed of the real driver while a Chi Blocker took his place. The AIM agents hooked it up to the pipes that lead through the train.
"Time we get to work." The agent said.
Air Temple Island:
Back on the island Natasha and Clint had just returned from the police station and shared what they learned. Also their current suspicions. To say Cap and Kamala were surprised was an understatement.
"What! Nat are you sure!?" Kamala gasped loudly.
"No doubt about it, the way that bender was lashing uncontrollably. This smoke he was exposed to. Theres no doubt in my mind." Natasha explained.
"Dark Terrigen." Captain America said with a dreaded tone in his voice.
Tenzin, who was in the room with the four Avengers was a little curious but concerned by what was said. "What exactly is this Dark Terrigen?"
"Well Tenzin as you know my powers came from being exposed to Terrigen gas, its how I became an Inhuman. But Dark Terrigen is like poison for Inhumans it was originally meant to be a cure, but its current state was lethal to Inhuman's." Kamala explained.
To say Tenzin was shocked was an understatement. "A poison!?" He gasped.
"Okay but one thing doesn't click, Dark Terrigen kills Inhumans, why didn't it kill the fire bender?" Clint wondered.
Kamala thought for a moment when she had an idea. "Well is it because its not of this world? You know different universal laws and all that?"
"Thats…actually a good thought Kamala." Cap realised.
"By all indication the Dark Terrigen affects Benders differently in this case causing their powers to lash out of control." Black Widow guessed.
"Right when I looked in that mans eyes, he was genuinely afraid, he had no control of his bending whatsoever." Captain America remembered when he saw the bender in the fire.
However while they spoke they were all neglecting one thing. The origin of the substance. "Hold on, the only ones who have Dark Terrigen…." Kamala suddenly gasped in realisation. "Is A.I.M."
The other Avengers looked at each other with the same realised look. Tenzin was rather surprised himself. "A.I.M the people who captured you?"
"Yep and a bunch of Inhuman and super hero haters." Kamala said with hate in her voice.
"Which means we aren't the only ones who got sent here." Hawkeye realised.
This news was very grave indeed. "If AIM is here in this world then Republic City is in grave danger now more than ever." Cap realised.
"I'll alert Lin to this development." Tenzin said and so he and Steve left to speak to Beifong. Before Natasha left with Clint, Kamala held her back for a moment.
"Uh Nat, can I talk to you for a minute." Kamala asked.
"Okay kid whats up?" Natasha asked her getting her full attention.
"Well its Korra, I'm worried about her. I know she's trying to get over this thing with Amon but, I think its affected her confidence." Kamala said so Nat listened intently to all she was saying.
Meanwhile: The Spinning Gates:
Korra was once again within the spinning gates. Using her Airbending moves to move through them with no trouble. Jinora was assisting with the exercises firing gusts of wind at the gates to make them spin.
"Thats it Korra!" Jinora called.
When Korra came out of the gates she heard applause she looked to see it was from Black Widow. "Very agile."
"Oh uh thanks Black Widow." Korra thanked.
"Please Korra, just call me Natasha. Nat for short." Widow insisted.
"Okay Nat." Korra agreed.
Natasha then looked to Jinora. "Hey Jinora, could you give us a minute please." So Jinora left the training field leaving Korra and Nat alone.
"So do you want to talk about something?" Korra asked.
"Yeah, listen Korra I'm glad your taking a break from things to focus on yourself, but I can see somethings still off." Natasha said. "You can tell me, Kamala normally comes to me with any concerns she's having so now I'm offering that to you."
Korra knew that the spy was right though she felt okay she still wasn't one hundred percent ready to return as the Avatar fully.
"Well.I don't know I…I mean I feel okay but the other day with that crisis of the building fire. I..I wanted to help but I hesitated. I normally want to jump in and help but after what happened with Amon I…I don't." Korra admitted.
"You just went through a traumatic experience, you can't expect yourself to jump back straight away." Natasha explained. "I get it, but we decide what holds us back and what pushes us forwards. You may not know this but Kamala was ready to quit too."
"What?" Korra said surprised, never once did Kamala tell her how she was close to quit being a hero.
"Yeah when she got captured in an AIM base she thought she made a mistake when she tried to be a hero. When I rescued her I made her realise that we all have doubts, even among the Avengers, try speaking to Steve and Bruce sometime they've got plenty of stories to share." Nat explained. "Even I have some dark moments in my life and so did Clint, we've both had questionable moments in our lives before the Avengers. You know seeing you in those spinning gates reminded me of my past life, I actually did some dancing too."
"You were a dancer?" Korra wondered.
"Yeah its a part of my life I try to forget, but seems some ghosts of the past still haunt me. Until Nick Fury and SHIELD gave me a second chance, and then came the Avengers." Natasha explained as she placed a hand on Korra's shoulder. "The point is we shouldn't let our past mistakes define us or hold us back. Especially if there are people out there who need you. I'm sure your predecessor had his doubts, but he found the spur to rise from it."
The Avatar in training had to admit she did raise a point. When the Fire nation took the Earth Kingdom and when Aang was wounded from his fight with Azula he was still scarred. Even hating the plan to make them believe he was dead, thinking he'd failed. Even going out on his own. To her this was similar.
"But how do I know I can jump back into being the Avatar again?" Korra wondered.
Natasha was silent for a moment, but then she spoke. "You don't, its a leap of faith. Thats all it really is Korra. A leap of faith." That statement had given Korra a lot to think about.
Elsewhere:
Meanwhile near the city was a large looking mansion, this was the home of the Sato's and inside its dining room, Tony sat with Hiroshi and Asami to lunch. They were served a rather exotic meal.
With one bite Tony had to admit this was the best thing he'd ever eaten. "Wow my compliments to the chef, this has to be the best meal I've had in a long time."
"Glad you like it Tony." Hiroshi said. "I can tell your a person of may tastes."
"Well its all part of my charm." Tony joked which earned a few laughs from Hiroshi and his daughter.
Asami then decided to bring up something that had her wondering. "Hey uh Tony, you said something about self sustaining clean energy, what kind exactly?" She asked.
"A good question." Tony said as he brought out his holo phone and laid it on the table revealing a hologram of a certain energy device of his.
"This my friends is the Arc Reactor." Tony explained to them, and Hiroshi looked with genuine interest as did Asami. "It was a project my dad worked on many years back when I was in diapers, its a self sustaining energy source. At first it was seen as a science project, however I saw it as something more. So I adapted the technology as a clean source of energy I have this powering many of my facilities back home."
"Remarkable." Hiroshi was defiantly intrigued.
"So what kind of power could it generate?" Asami asked.
"Well if my math is right as it always is 3 gigajoules per second." Tony answered.
To say Asami was astounded was an understatement to say the least. It could produce that much energy. "But, that kind of power could run Republic City for fifty lifetimes!"
"Yep, your very bright Asami." Tony complimented putting his phone away which did put a smile on the girls face.
"So this reactor of yours could it power other things?" Hiroshi asked with interest.
"Yeah not just buildings and power plants, and someday even vehicles that would make combustion engines look obsolete." Tony explained which all but continued to peak Hiroshi's interest.
"Or perhaps maybe that suit of yours if I'm not mistaken?" Hiroshi then openly guessed.
In an instant Tony could see where this was going. "Oh boy." He said to himself. "Yes it could but no I'm afraid my suit isn't for sale Hiroshi."
"Tony I've heard on the news what you did in the fire, imagine how that could benefit the people of the city." Hiroshi proposed.
"Yes but imagine what the bad guys could do with it." Tony explained strongly.
"That wouldn't happen." Hiroshi tried sounding a little strict.
"Wouldn't it, you see I thought the same thing but when I saw first hand what my weapons can do in the wrong hands I shut it all down and stopped producing them." Tony explained to him. "I can't control what people do with my tech but that doesn't mean I don't hold accountability for it. I am Iron Man, the suit and I are one to turn over the Iron Man suit would mean handing over myself and the keys to destruction. Its something only I can use."
Hiroshi was about to say something until his daughter put her hand on his. "Dad. I think has a point, I mean sure it could benefit people but at the same time it could be harmful to people in the wrong hands. I mean you've heard about the Equalists what if they got their hands on it." Asami explained.
Hiroshi still was solid in his argument but he had to admit his daughter had a point. "I…I suppose your right Asami, I am sorry Tony your right we should still hold accountability in our inventions."
Tony did sigh at Hiroshi's understanding on the matter and delivered a grateful smile. Just then he heard a ringing sound, when he reached in his pocket he pulled out his Avengers ID card. He saw the caller ID was from Captain America.
"Uh excuse me a moment gotta take this." Tony said to his hosts.
"Oh be my guest." Hiroshi insisted.
Tony stepped aside for a moment and answered the call. "Yeah Cap." He asked.
"Tony we have a situation, we've found out what was the cause for the fire, a bender was out of control but it was all the cause of Dark Terrigen." Cap explained.
"What?!" Tony said in shock.
"Natasha's guessing there maybe more we need to scan the city for any traces of Dark Terrigen." Cap said to him.
"Got it on my way." Tony said as he switched off the com before turning to his hosts. "I'm sorry to the both of you but somethings come up. Thanks for the meal but I need to get going."
"Oh of course its our pleasure Tony." Hiroshi said understandingly. "In fact when the time for the Pro Bending Championship start your more than welcome to join us in our private box."
"Sounds good to me." Tony said eagerly.
"I hope we see you again some time." Asami then called.
"I sure hope so my dear Asami." Tony said before bidding his farewell leaving the mansion.
Moments later Tony was now armoured up as Iron Man and was flying around the city. Since he had some knowledge of Dark Terrigen from the data Kamala and Bruce recovered from AIMs labs a while back he knew how to track it.
"Okay JARVIS, run a scan of the city for any Dark Terrigen signatures and triangulate its position." Tony said on the hud.
"Yes sir." JARVIS replied.
Iron Man hovered within the centre of the city, as JARVIS began a scan for any Terrigen based signatures. Sometime after their confrontation with Amon, Tony mapped out the city so he could run scans for any Equalist activity.
JARVIS scanned the city sector by sector, it took several hours but eventually. "Sir." JARVIS called.
"You got something?" Iron Man asked.
"I have detected a unique Terrigen signature identical to the Dark Terrigen." JARVIS relayed. "However it appears to be mobile."
"On the ground?" Tony asked.
"Uh no I'm afraid not sir." JARVIS then showed him a holo visual of a moving object that wasn't a truck.
"Oh boy." Iron Man sighed.
Iron Man flew down close to the street and flew alongside a train however he kept his distance. For he had an idea that the Dark Terrigen wouldn't be on the train unless it was for a reason. He runs a scan of the train from his vantage point. He soon deduced where the Terrigen source was.
"Oh no JARVIS please tell me thats not what I think it is!" Iron Man said with a look of horror.
"I'm afraid so sir." JARVIS replied as he shows Tony what looks like a bomb with a canister of Dark Terrigen attached. "It is a Dark Terrigen bomb."
"JARVIS the passengers on the train?" Iron Man asked.
JARVIS ran the scans on the train, he previously asked if he could scan Korra so it would be easier to identify Benders and Non Benders, she agreed hesitantly but knew it could help them. The scan highlighted some people in blue and others in green. Green signified benders and there was a large number of them on the train.
"There are Benders and Non Benders on the train sir if the bomb explodes it could affect them and anything within a block radius." JARVIS relayed.
The news got worse when Iron Man saw who was at the train controls. It was the Equalist Lieutenant and an AIM Agent.
"JARVIS! Put me through to the team!" Tony said alerted.
Air Temple Island:
"WHAT!" Yelled a voice from the Air Temple.
"Theres a bomb on the train with Dark Terrigen!" Kamala exclaimed.
"I'm afraid it gets worse JARVIS ran the simulations, that bombs wired to the speed of the train when it stops the bomb goes off." Iron Man said on the ID cards. "If it does it'll encompass everything within a block radius affecting the Benders."
"It'll cause them to lash out and lose control of their Bending." Natasha realised. "It'll put the city in a panic."
"Yeah and guess who's on the train that Equalist Luitenant." Iron Man called.
"So Amons behind this!" Kamala realised. Tenzin was in the room and was in horror with all of this.
Korra was listening from the next room and she gasped in shock by what she heard. There was worse to come.
"So thats his plan, make it look like the Benders have lost control of their bending, and will make the non benders realise Amon is right." Captain America said through the wall. "Its all an act of fear."
"For both Benders and Non Benders." Natasha realised.
"Now thats low even for the likes of Amon, but ten bucks says AIM's involved in this too." Hawkeye guessed.
"Pay the man, there was an AIM agent with the Lieutenant." Iron Man said on the coms.
"Tony, try and do what you can to save those people, we'll be there soon!" Cap ordered. Cap closed the com line and turned to the Avengers. "Avengers suit up!" Cap ordered.
So the Avengers geared up, Natasha readied her gauntlets and Tonfas, Hawkeye loaded his quiver and readied his bow. Cap put his shield on his back and put on his helmet. Kamala suited up as Ms Marvel and placed her mask on her face. The group headed out to the Quinjet to join their armoured alley.
"Surely there must be something I can do to help?" Tenzin insisted.
"There is Tenzin get to the city and warn Chief Beifong and the council they need to keep people away without causing a panic!" Captain America said to him.
"Right." Tenzin nodded.
"Lets move people." Cap called to his fellow Avengers they were about to board the Quinjet when just then.
"Hold up." Called a voice they all turned and saw Korra standing behind them. "You guys got room for one more on that tub?"
Tenzin, Ms Marvel and the other Avengers were rather surprised by Korra's sudden decision. "Korra you sure about this?" Ms Marvel asked.
"I'm sure, I'm done resting I wont let Amon or this AIM terrorise people in just for the sake of their cause. I'm done letting what happened before stop me from being the Avatar this city needs." Korra said with conviction and confidence in her voice.
The Avengers and the Airbending master could see that the Avatar in training meant what she said. Black Widow had a rather proud smile on her face it seems Korra had taken her words to heart. Ms Marvel looked with pride she could see her friend had risen from the ashes and was ready to fight again.
With one confident smile Cap could only say one thing. "Load up Avatar." He said and so with new found confidence Korra boarded the Quinjet. The cargo door then closed and the jet headed toward the city. Tenzin hoped that Korra would be ready for this.
Meanwhile:
In the city the train moved rather quickly through the city, but the people on board remained unaware of the danger that was in the front car. Meanwhile the Lieutenant and two AIM Agents and Chi Blockers stood at the carriage.
"Remember the bomb is set to detonate and scatter the Dark Terrigen once we reach the city centre." The AIM agent reminded.
"Then the Benders will know what true fear looks like and that Non Benders will realise our truth." The Lieutenant agreed.
They were however still unaware of Iron Man's presence who was flying from a distance. He knew what to do. "Okay item one make sure these people aren't caught in the Terrigen blast."
Iron Man reached out his left hand and from his gauntlet a red laser fired which severed the connector between the train and the carriages. The people suddenly stumbled as the carriages came to a halt but the train kept going. The people both Benders and Non Benders were rather surprised and confused.
In the train carriage still unaware, however the Chi Blocker suddenly realised that the train seemed awfully light for some reason. He looked back and saw why.
"Hey the carriages have been separated from the train!" The Chi blocker reported.
"What! How!?" The Lieutenant exclaimed.
The AIM agents looked across from the moving train and spotted something that made all very clear. "I'll give you one guess." He pointed and they looked to see Iron Man flying next to the train and flew to the roof.
"Iron Man!" The agent exclaimed in anger.
Iron Man soon landed on the roof of the train hoping to try and get in to disable the bomb. He started using his beam gauntlets to cut through the roof. Suddenly a shock blasted him across the roof he recovered his footing and looked up to see the Lieutenant with the two AIM agents.
"Hey fellas. I didn't see your tickets mind if I punch em for you!" Iron Man fired his repulser rays at the agents who deflected it with their shields the Lieutenant then charged forwards and swung his taser batons at Iron Man who dodged and blocked the shocks. The Lieutenant managed to land a shock right into Iron Mans chest forcing him back.
"Sir our systems can't withstand more electrical shocks like that. The shields aren't one hundred percent." JARVIS relayed.
Iron Man groaned, the Liuetanant was about to deliver a blow with his taser batons but Iron Man grabbed them with his hands.
"Nice try pal but your not the first electrical enforcer I've faced!" Iron Man smirked behind his face plate.
The Luitenant snarled as he tried to push Iron Man back. "Why do you even bother fighting for the benders! They don't own this world anymore!"
"Are you listening to yourself pal? Your living in the past the wars over!" Iron Man exclaimed as he pushed back. "Now how long have you been working with AIM? Where'd you get Dark Terrigen!"
"Heheh lets just say the Avatar isn't the only one who's made other worldly allies lately!" The Lieutenant replied.
Suddenly Iron Man yells in anger as he revived a blast from behind him. He looked back as he fell to the ground to see the AIM Agents with jet packs and armed with laser blasters.
Iron Man was outgunned with the agents behind him and The Lieutenant in front of him. However in that moment something struck the backs of the two agents. It was a couple of arrows. They beeped and exploded shorting out the jet packs. They looked up and saw the Quinjet hovering above them and with Hawkeye smirking from the cargo door.
"Looks like I'm saving your armoured butt yet again Stark!" Hawkeye called.
"Ha hah funny Robin Hood." Iron Man chuckled sarcastically.
Then leaping from the Quinjet was Captain America, Black Widow and Korra who landed on the train roof in front of Iron Man.
"Well well look who it is the Avatar returns. Perhaps I should finish what Amon started!" The Lieutenant smirked readying his taser sticks. However now Korra stood with the super soldier and spy.
"Your going to have a tough time doing that!" Korra challenged.
"Iron man take care of those jet pack AIM Agents, Widow get to the drivers cabin Korra and I will take care of him!" Captain America ordered.
"Thought you'd never ask!" Iron Man blasts off into the sky and looks to the two Aim Agents who recovered from the damage the arrows inflicted on their jet packs.
"Hey fellas lets take this elsewhere!" Iron Man called and he blasted away and the AIM agents weren't too far behind.
While Black Widow leaps off the side of the train fires a grapple hook at the window and swung into the drivers cabin. She looks and sees two Chi Blockers with the bomb.
"Hey fellas." Widow smirked.
"Its the traitor!" One Chi Blocker growled as they lunged at her while Widow ducked below their attacks.
One tried to perform a Chi Block on her but she grabbed his wrist and twisted it causing him to cry in pain. She then leaped onto his head and flung him into the side. The other Chi Blocker tried to perform chi blocking moves. However with one swift action, Black Widow performed certain actions on the Chi Blockers arm which made him lose all feeling in his arm. She then did the same to his leg. He fell to the ground leaving his partner surprised.
"You guys really shouldn't have taught me chi blocking, cause I'm a fast learner." Black Widow said smirking.
The Chi Blocker charged at Widow but she simply swung under her opponent then pulled out her Tonfa's and performed a taser shock in the Chi Blockers back knocking him to the ground.
"Amateurs." Black Widow simply said before turning her attention back to the Dark Terrigen bomb.
On the roof of the train the Lieutenant swung his taser rods towards Korra who all but dodged them and attacked with some fire bending but the Lieutenant simply moved quickly to avoid the fire blasts. He was ready to strike, but he wasn't ready for a certain Super Soldier. Captain America charged in and swung his shield at the Lieutenant which hit him dead in the chest pushing him back. Giving Korra the opening to leap over him and fire a water whip knocking him to the ground.
The Lietenant however wasn't one to concede defeat. He recovered and attacked the Avatar with one strike after another. Korra fought back with some flame fists. Cap tried to attack from behind but the Lieutenant struck him in right arm where it wasn't protected by armour. He cried in pain and was forced back.
"Cap!" Korra called but the Lieutenant struck her in the gut with an electro shock forcing her back. Korra looked up at the Lieutenant ready to strike her down.
Cap could see she needed help. Then he had an idea. "Korra think fast!" He tossed his shield towards the lieutenant who jumped out of the way.
But he wasn't ready for what came next. Korra recovered then landed a round house kick kicking the shield away and hitting the Lieutenant in the back causing him to stumble. Which left him open to a punch from Captain America hitting him square in the face shattering his goggles, sending him tumbling to the ground.
Cap recovered his shield and looked to the Avatar. "You okay Cap?" She asked him.
"Yeah I'm okay this soldier still has a few rounds left." Cap said. "Nice recovery with the shield."
"Thanks its not too different from Probending." Korra smirked. They heard loud laser sounds coming from above. They looked up and saw Iron Man was still locked in a dog fight with the AIM Agents and their jet packs.
The agents fired their laser blasters at the armoured Avenger who all but dodged them. He quickly turned and on his hud targeted them and fired small missles from his shoulder plates one agent dodged them whilst the other was too slow and the missiles hit his jet pack causing it to explode and he fell to the ground. Only for an arrow to be shot and explode encasing it in foam like substance on the wall.
"One down one to go!" Hawkeye called from the Quinjet.
"This is so awesome I'm driving a jet!" Ms Marvel said excited as this was the first time she'd flown a Quinjet.
"Uh actually kid JARVIS is flying it, but don't sweat you'll get your flying lessons from Nat soon." Iron Man called on the coms.
"Geeze way to steal my thunder." Ms Marvel grumbled.
The still flying AIM Agent was still shooting at Iron Man, who performed a barrel roll to avoid the shots from the laser blasts as he chased him through the streets. The two flew around the streets startling the people below seeing this arial dog fight.
Meanwhile Lin and the police were hard at work clearing the area near the city centre and from the station where the train ends.
"Everyone please stay clear, this is just a simple exercise do remain calm." Called Sergeant Saikan on the loudhailer. "We have the situation in hand."
Lin oversaw everything, Tenzin had warned her of what was going on regarding the Equalists and this AIM. Though she was weary of this Dark Terrigen she could see this was no idol threat.
Suddenly everyone was shocked by the sound of laser fire. They looked up and saw it was Iron Man still in a dog fight with the AIM Agent.
"What the heck is going on?" Lin questioned silently.
In the air Iron Man and his pursuer was getting close to him as they flew along the train tracks heading back towards the train itself.
"Thats right keep following me." Iron Man smirked behind his face plate. They got closer to the train and when Iron Man flew by.
"NOW KID!" Iron Man called.
Korra quickly bent the earth in the bridge, which shot up a small rock which hit the AIM Agent in the chest which knocked off his flight plan. Cap then tossed his shield at the jet pack slicing it in half and caused him to tumble across the train, then hit the tracks below knocking him unconscious.
Iron Man landed on the roof of the train. "Way to line'em up and knock'em down kid!" He complimented Korra.
"Yeah she has a way of doing that!" Ms Marvel called supportively on the coms.
However they were blissfully unaware of the Lieutenant who moved to his taser rod then out of nowhere jammed it through the glass of the train and into the control console surprising Natasha. The sound of shorting electrics had gotten the groups attention.
He looked to the Avengers with a glare. "You have a train to catch!" He then leaped from the train and onto the nearby rooftop.
It was then they noticed something was wrong. "Uh guys , is it me or is this train going kinda fast?" Korra realised.
"Nat whats going on down there?!" Cap called on the coms.
In the cabin Black Widow analysed the situation and the damage done to the train controls. "Guys this isn't good the Lieutenant just damaged the breaks and controls the trains speeding up, and we still have a Terrigen bomb on board." Widow looked to the bomb that was still attached to the train.
"Uh guys its gonna get worse!" Called Hawkeye on the coms.
In the Quinjet he and Ms Marvel could see the deeper trouble at hand. For ahead of them was a turn in the tracks. "Theres a turn ahead and at your current speed you won't make it!" He called.
Ms Marvel knew this wasn't the best time to talk. "I'm on it! Clint take the controls!" She got up from the pilot seat and hurried from the pilot seat and leaped out of the Quinjet.
She fell from the sky, and when she was close enough she quickly extended her left hand and swung from the nearby bulling and leaped onto the roof of the train. Then held onto the side.
"Oh I hope this works!" Ms Marvel hoped as she extended her free hand and grabbed onto a building. Just as they reached the corner. "HOLD ONTO SOMETHING!" She cried.
The Avengers and Korra grabbed onto the roof and Natasha grabbed onto the controls. On the corner Ms Marvel swung the train across the corner with all her might growling as she held onto both sides. The train wheels gripped the rails on the tracks. Ms Marvel suddenly lost her grip on the train only for Korra to quickly grab her hand.
"I got you!" Korra called, and pulled her back in as she retracted her arms. "You okay?"
"Yeah at least now I can tick swinging a train off my bucket list." Ms Marvel breathed in relief.
"Hold off on that celebration kid, we're not out of this yet we gotta stop this train before it reaches the station and the bomb explodes!" Iron Man called.
"Tony if we stop it it'll blow either way." Black Widow called on the coms.
"I know the math we need to stop it now!" Iron Man exclaimed as he blasted his jet boots to the front of the train and beyond it. He grabbed the front of the train and used his jet boots and the jets on his back to push against the train to slow it down.
"GRRRRR!" Tony growled on the hud.
"Sir we will lose power before the train stops!" JARVIS warned.
"Divert power to thrusters NOW!" Iron Man exclaimed. So JARVIS did so the power in the suit diverted to the boot thrusters. It seemed to work to slow the train down but it still wouldn't stop. However suddenly he heard a loud clunk and saw Ms Marvel hanging on the front of the train on his left and on his right was Korra.
"Mind if we lend a hand!" Korra called. Ms Marvel enlarged her hands and feet and hit the bridge trying to push the train back while Korra bent the earth below her encasing her feet in rock boots and like Ms Marvel crashed onto the bridge and tried to hold the train back as their feet dragged through the tracks forcing the train to stop.
They drew ever and ever closer to the station dead ahead. The three growled and yelled as they kept pushing back against the train as Captain America and Black Widow grabbed onto the train and the cabin. Eventually with one last effort the train finally came to a stop, much to the relief of everyone. Korra collapsed as did Ms Marvel as her limbs stretched back to their normal size.
"Whew, another thing to tick off Kamala?" Korra chuckled between breaths.
"Yeah, number ten actually." Ms Marvel chuckled.
However their celebration was suddenly cut off when they heard a beeping sound coming from the train. Cap jumped from the roof and used his strength to open the cabin door, to find Black Widow still in the cabin with the two unconscious Chi Blockers. "Uh guys this bombs set to go off any minute!" Natasha exclaimed.
"Yep." Iron Man said. "Clear the area!" He exclaimed.
So Widow and Korra got the two Chi Blockers out and Iron Man took to the air flew down under the bridge and blasted through it from below. He grunted with effort as his jet boots blasted him up and he lifted the train into the sky.
He propelled it higher and higher until he reaches the upper atmosphere where he tosses the train into space. A second later the bomb beeped and it exploded in a large dark blue plume. The shockwave blasted Iron Man away and sent tumbling out of control back down to the planet.
"Gah JARVIS Status!" Tony exclaimed on the hud.
"Thrusters offline, safety protocols offline, stabilisers offline, navigation offline." JARVIS reported.
"Reboot!" Tony exclaimed.
"Reboot in 15 minutes. Planetary impact in five seconds." JARVIS reported.
"Ooo this is gonna hurt." Iron Man grimaced. However all of a sudden he saw what looked like a rather large spray of water emerge from below him and he landed in it and gradually it started to lower him back down to the ground. The water dried up and he landed on his butt.
He opened his face plate to see it was Korra who had just helped him. "Heh very creative Avatar." Tony smirked.
"Hey I got a few tricks too shell head." Korra smirked with a crooked eyebrow.
Tony smiled with gratitude at that statement and the other Avengers watched from afar. Captain America watched with an impressed smile, he had to admit he was beginning to see the potential that Kamala saw in the Avatar.
"You know theres hope for her yet." Natasha admitted. Ms Marvel was proud too, it was clear to her and mostly to her friend that the Avatar had returned and gained her confidence back.
However from afar the Equalist Lieutenant watched the triumphant heroes from the building he leaped saw what happened and how the Avatar was now officially back in action.
"Hmm well played Avengers. But we still have the advantage and we will find a way to level that playing field." The Lieutenant glared before leaving.
Hours later:
Soon the Republic City police arrived with their airships and police vehicles. The two Equalist Chi Blockers, and AIM Agents were already in handcuffs and escorted to the police truck.
Lin came over with Tenzin to greet the Avengers and Korra. The Airbending Master was more than glad to see his student was okay.
"Korra are you alright?" Tenzin asked.
"I'm okay, more than okay I feel like I'm back in action." Korra said with confidence.
"I'm happy to hear that, you've really have recovered from past events." Tenzin said with pride.
"Yeah I guess all it took was a leap of faith." Korra said directing a smile towards Black Widow who was more than happy to reply with a smile of her own and a nod.
Then it was Lin's turn to smile a little. "Okay I'll admit you Avengers do know your stuff after all, I may not be happy about it but. This just proves the Equalists are getting smarter, so maybe we should collaborate in future."
"Ah see I knew you'd warm up to us eventually Chief."Iron Man said jokingly.
"Don't push your luck rich boy." Lin said with a very stern look.
"So any chance of giving Korra some slack too Chief." Ms Marvel asked with some hope.
"Okay maybe a little but, you did alright kid." Lin said as she walked away to speak to the media.
Korra was genuinely surprised did Lin Beifong actually give her a compliment. "Wow…thats just wow." Korra said.
"Yeah does she often give compliments like that?" Hawkeye asked.
"Not like that no." Tenzin said in genuine surprise.
However before they could contemplate anything else. "AVENGERS! AVATAR!" Yelled a voice.
They looked towards the prison truck and saw one of the Chi Blockers was struggling against the police. "AMON HASN'T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU! HE WILL BRING THIS CITY TO ITS RIGHTFUL ORDER THE BENDERS WILL NO LONGER OPPOSE US TODAY WAS ONLY A MESSAGE! WE WILL BRING EQUALITY TO THIS CITY!"
The police eventually restrained the Chi Blocker and tossed him in the truck which drove away. Captain America knew all too well this wasn't an idol threat, after what they saw today this had gotten serious.
"He's right." Captain America said to everyone present. "Todays events have only confirmed our fears. We now know the Equalists aren't the only threat to this city. AIM has made its presence known with this Dark Terrigen threat."
"Caps right, and if AIM is here you can bet MODOK the bobble head isn't too far behind." Hawkeye realised.
"MODOK? You mean that thing that hates Inhumans and tried to kill you guys? The one Kamala told me about." Korra questioned.
"Unfortunately." Ms Marvel realised.
"And judging from what we saw today, it seems Amon has allied the Equalists with AIM." Natasha realised from todays actions.
"But why would they do such a thing?" Tenzin wondered. "I know Amon is a threat to the benders but why ally with someone who wants to see them all destroyed instead of their powers removed?"
"Because to MODOK they're one and the same, he wishes to rid the world of super powers and Amon wants to cleanse the Benders with his so called Equality." Iron Man points out.
"Plus they're both no fans of us or Korra so its your classic the enemy of my enemy is my friend thing." Ms Marvel agreed.
"Which means Amon is now a greater threat than he was before." Korra realised. "If AIM is just as powerful as Kamala said, things are gonna get a whole lot worse."
"Agreed which means from now on we've gotta watch our backs, something tells me our fight has only begun." Captain America realised as he and his fellow Avengers, Korra and Tenzin looked up to the setting sun, as now another piece had been added to the board.
Meanwhile: AIM Base:
Amon stood silently in the AIM base with MODOK as they watched the footage of what happened between the AIM Agents, The Lieutenant and the Avengers. They saw how Iron Man took the train into the air and tossed it before it exploded. However what caught Amons attention was the Avatars presence on the scene.
"Heh seems the Avatar wasn't as crippled as you thought." MODOK smirked.
"This was a momentary set back, as you said that Dark Terrigen was to send a message, but I must admit the results are promising." Amon said. "How it caused the Benders to lash out their powers out of control, its more than enough to show the Non Benders how they're power opposes us."
"Indeed, however as long as the Avatar and the Avengers , are a hindrance we will not succeed." MODOK reminded. "The lack of resources in this condemned facility is affecting our ability to maximise our efforts against them and the benders."
"You should not concern yourself with that MODOK." Amon simply said turning to him. "In fact what if I were to tell you that I could provide you with the resources you need. Though not as advanced as your technology?"
"Explain?" MODOK asked with interest.
"We now have an ally who maybe able to provide you with the nessecary materials. One who the Avengers and even the Avatar remains unaware of." Amon explained. "If we are to counter the Avengers and their abilities we need to meet them with an advantage of our own, and now we have it."
MODOK all but smirked with satisfaction, now they had an ally who would be able to not only supply AIM with the resources they need. But also to provide an edge over the Avatar and The Avengers. But the question is who was this ally Amon speaks of?
Authors notes: And thats a wrap on chapter 5 folks whew it was a long one. But now Korra has regained her confidence and is fighting alongside the Avengers, and maybe Lin is warming up to the idea of working with vigilantes/heroes from an alternate dimension. However now they know AIM is here thanks to this Dark Terrigen fiasco, and in chapters to come you'll see how far Amon is prepared to go especially with this new alliance with MODOK.
Now we move back into the canon chapters where the Pro Bending championship begins, but Kamala is going to have her hands full in this next one. Plus maybe Cap and the other Avengers may have some advice to share in regards to what comes next. Now it will be a long wait but I assure you it will be worth it in the end.
