Chapter 16
Bofu & Yotsuki Part 2

Land of Lightning
Bofu Clan Compound
Samui's Room

"Team we are moving out!" The asshole who was Samui's leader shouted down the hall making all of the Slave Ninja including Samui get out of their room to follow.

Naruto had hidden but he didn't need to as Samui left the room and shut the door behind her right away so no one could look in and see him there.

'Now I've gotta find where they keep the Ranton scrolls and anything else I can take, I don't want to be in the country any longer than I have to be.' Naruto thought as he jumped up to the high window in the room and popped it open.

He peered out of the window and saw that the coast seemed clear, but Naruto knew that it meant nothing because there would be traps everywhere and that's not even mentioning really annoying things like Kekkai Ninjutsu which would detect anything or even hidden Fuinjutsu that acted as traps, both of these things Naruto was very familiar with due to being raised in the Uzumaki Clan.

Naruto pulled himself out of the room and stood on the wall on the outside of the building sticking to it using as little Chakra as possible, he got up to the roof and got a full view of the area he was in.

The Bofu Clan's grounds were very different from any other one he had seen, it was very segmented Naruto could see clear divisions between each section. The place he was in seemed to be a place for guests and the like it was heavily patrolled and there were only two ways in or out. He could see the main building which had the heaviest Ninja presence and that was probably where all the good stuff was kept behind lock and key.

The only other areas were the entranceway that had lakes and waterfalls which was moderately guarded and some sort of garden or farm that was being fed by the water from the lakes. Each section was separated by the typical stone walls that were found more in the castles of the Daimyo rather than a Ninja compound.

Naruto watched the patrols to see if they had any kind of pattern and to his surprise, they had a very predictable one with only a few random movements used.

'Then again, what Clan actually expects a full-on assault in the place where they are at their most powerful.' Naruto thought shaking his head.

"Time to get to it." Naruto whispered to himself, he had memorised the patrol patterns of the guards so now it was time to sneak again.

The basic plan was that while everyone else was concentrating on the meeting between the two Clan Leaders, Naruto would slip in and get what he needed then he would meet back up with Samui and they would walk out the same way they came in.

Naruto jumped from the roof and moved through a large bunch of tall mountain grass and waited for the patrol to pass him before moving closer to the wall, he was hoping that there would be a hole or something that he could get through without having to jump over the top and attract attention.

When he finally reached the wall after watching the Bofu Clan Ninja walk past as he stayed in the grass and watched them while being very careful and trying not to move or breathe too loudly.

'Finally.' He thought with some relief as he checked the wall for any weaknesses or holes and to his luck, he found one, under one section of the wall he found a small ditch that actually lead under the wall to the other side.

Naruto crawled under, it was a tight fit but eventually, he wiggled through and out onto the other side and found himself getting a mouthful of grass as he came up.

"Bleh!" He spat it out and poked his head above the grass to get a look around at where he came up and it was actually in a good position, he could see the large temple-like building was right in front of him while there was a wooden guard-post on his left and an empty wasteland area on his right, there was, of course, a patrol on his right and there was a squad also set up in the guard-post.

He watched again and found that despite the meeting that was going on in the building but then again from what Samui had told him about A and the rumours he heard about Darui painted a picture of a very strong man leading one of the best Clans in the Land of Lightning.

'Gotta be extra careful now this is the hard part.' Naruto thought as he crept along the ground like a worm under his cloak.

What he was looking for was a door that would lead to anywhere but the main hall, he was hoping to find maybe a basement or kitchen door a place where he could sneak in and out of relatively easily.

After a stop-start journey where he would move slowly then stop whenever a Ninja got close, which was often enough to begin to frustrate the young blonde but eventually he found a staircase leading down to a wooden door that looked to be locked tight.

'Finally!' He thought as he crawled down the stairs and always kept one eye on the door and the other on the stairs behind him in order to make sure no one was sneaking up behind him.

He got to the door and tried the obvious thing of just opening it but it was locked to his disappointment.

'I've never been good with locks.' Naruto complained mentally as he set about to work on the lock.

'I don't want to take too long and have the meeting end before I even get anything.' Naruto thought as he used his full concentration on solving the problem in front of him.

Inside
Bofu Clan Central Room

Darui and A were sat on wooden chairs, opposite each other with a stone desk between them. The two powerful men were the only ones in the room and it was gigantic it was obvious that this was where the Bofu Clan held their meetings but that would involve every active Ninja but here with just two men present it looked deserted.

"So you offered an alliance why?" Darui cut straight to the heart of the matter with none of the usual pleasantries.

"No greeting or courtesies? Well, I can appreciate that on some level." A grunted and shifted in his chair crossing his arms.

"You are the one who requested this meeting, We Bofu prefer to remain neutral and you are the one shaking up the balance of power through conquering other Clans and making them swear fealty." Darui said flatly completely ignoring A's comments.

"Yes, I am doing those things so we can bring order to our homeland, and in order to do that the Kinkaku and Ginkaku Clans must be destroyed." A spoke honestly.

"You want to exterminate the two Clans which protect the southern border from incursions?" Darui asked.

"We Yotsuki will settle new Clans to serve as the border guards of the south, the descendants of those two demons are too wild to be trusted." A said stubbornly.

"And what of my Clan? What will happen to the Bofu if you go through with your wild dream of overthrowing the Daimyo and ruling the Land of Lightning." Darui said much to A's shock, the plans to overthrow the Daimyo were the highest secrets within the Yotsuki Clan who were still the primary Clan the Lightning Daimyo went to for Ninja jobs.

"How did you?" A was taken aback only he, Bee and Cee knew about it.

"Process of elimination, you are taking out the smaller Clans but not exterminating them instead just beating them into submission but you're also probing the Samurai and the Daimyo's defences through scouting missions around the country and of course you asked for an alliance with one of the Clans who has the manpower and skill to stop you." Darui reasoned out aloud, and it was here that A realised that Darui was a far more perceptive man than he ever could have thought.

"So what would happen to my Clan in your new country?" Darui repeated his question.

"Have you told anyone about this?" A asked him instead of answering.

Little did Darui know but A's future actions would be solely determined by the answer to this question.

"No, I've kept it to myself. I don't want to be the spark that starts the new war after all." Darui answered.

"I see. You and the Bofu Clan would be the right hands of the Yotsuki, we would lead but you would be the vice-leaders in essence." A answered offering a generous answer that was actually different to his original plans.

A had originally planned to betray the Bofu and subjugate them just like all the other Ninja Clans however Darui's skill and intelligence had obviously changed that along with the fact that Darui had worked out his future plans as well was also a big factor.

"Hoh! Those are generous terms from one such as you." Darui said a little surprised.

"I always reward people equal to their value and you and by extension, your Clan have proven themselves more valuable than all the others." A said in a complimentary tone.

"More valuable huh, is that as people or tools?" Darui continued prodding.

"As Ninja and Ninja are tools. So it is a redundant question." A answered and though he did not show it he was confused by the question.

"I just wished for clarification on our future relationship." Darui lied to him, in reality, he wanted to grasp just what A's true character is and that question answered it completely.

'A consummate Ninja who only sees them as tools to be used, such a shame that a man like this wants to conquer the country perhaps if he were more human I would feel better supporting him.' Darui thought with disappointment.

"We've gotten far too off-topic now. I came here to discuss an alliance with you not to talk about the future of ethics." A mush like a bull tried to get the conversation back on track.

"Yes, of course, that is why you're here after all." Darui agreed nodding.

"Now I want a military alliance between our Clans and commit to a joint operation to destroy the Ginkaku and Kinkaku Clans and replace them with more compliant allies." A repeated his earlier offer.

"It is a tempting offer, the Kinkaku Clan have been encroaching on our territory lately and both Clans are noticeably more aggressive now." Darui said aloud and A nodded.

"It is the same for us, in fact, one of my Ninja was attacked by members of the Kinkaku Clan when she was returning from a mission." A said trying to create some solidarity with Darui.

"Do you have any evidence if both sister Clans are coordinating their attacks as a part of some sort of plan?" Darui asked genuinely curious.

"So far we have found no evidence of any greater plan beyond simply fighting and attacking for the sake of it." A admitted and it looked to Darui like he was not lying about it either since he looked annoyed at the thought of his Yotsuki Clan being attacked at all.

"This is a very big decision for the Clan and I may need some more time to think over what you offer." Darui finally said.

"That's fine I wasn't expecting you to accept right away, but I can only stay for a day, if these talks are not finished tomorrow then there will be no alliance." A warned him as he stood up and towered over Darui.

"I'll be sure to think it over carefully," Darui promised him as he too stood up and nodded at his counterpart.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

As both men were going to leave the room an explosion shook the building and there was an immense sounding roar from outside along the shouting of people and the stamping of feet.

"What the Hell!" A roared as he sprinted to the door and kicked it open.

Short Time Before
With Naruto

Naruto had gotten past the lock and ended up in the surprisingly empty kitchens so he had some food and a drink of water before continuing onwards and deeper into the building.

The corridors were also empty and Naruto realised why when he felt two huge Chakras nearby, one of them was prickly and charged like the air before a storm while the other felt more fluid and easy going.

'So that's why no guards on the inside, with those two here there is no better defence.'
Naruto thought with some sweat dripping off his forehead.

If those two were to fight then this entire building would probably be destroyed in the resulting battle so evacuating people from the building was probably the smarter choice to make.

He navigated through clean corridors and checked every room he went past, most were just normal rooms some were bedrooms others lounges and there was even an armoury but Naruto decided it would be better this time to not plunder an armoury in case he stole some precious artefact again and have all the Ninja Clans in the Land of Lightning come down on him.

Eventually, he found some stairs and went up and this was how he spent most of his time, walking up and down corridors and checking each and every room for whatever he was looking for, eventually he made a Blood Clone to speed the process up. The Blood Clone was a very Chakra intensive Ninjutsu so Naruto only used it when he needed to, his current limit of how many he could make was 3 which would reduce his abnormally large Chakra to nearly nothing, Hiruko had told him that the Ketsueki Bunshin Jutsu was an incomplete Jutsu and needed refining and testing more in the field, this and the Chimera Jutsu were the two Jutsu that Hiruko had wanted the most to pass down to him more than anything else.

'Remember Naruto, you are my living legacy the culmination of all I have worked towards.' Hiruko's words echoed in his ears as he went about his mission.

Naruto found some minor Jutsu scrolls mainly Suiton, Futon and Raiton Ninjutsu which was actually useful to him since he naturally had a major Wind affinity and of course since he had taken in the Hyoton Kekkei Genkai his Wind affinity had only strengthened and he also gained an affinity towards Water as well since that was a component of the Hyoton.

"I'm so glad I stocked up on so many scrolls." He muttered as he went about copying the words on the scrolls onto his own blank ones.

"Though I think I'm going to need a large one to store them all in. I'm running out of small scrolls and storage ones as well." He continued to talk to himself, since he was essentially one of 3 people in the entire building he felt safe enough to talk to himself in order to fill the silence.

After that little discovery, he also discovered a much larger armoury this one was easily the biggest room he came across since entering the building and by his guess it must have been in the dead centre of the building itself right on the apex between the stone and wooden halves of the building.

There were rows and rows of katana, shuriken and kunai all lined up and sorted neatly and Naruto knew his own supplies would last forever so he decided to help himself to such a large amount or at least that's how he justified the act to himself.

'Not a thief. I'm a Ninja.' Naruto reminded himself as he sealed a lot of kunai and shuriken away and even took a katana and hung it over his shoulder as he did with the Kiba though at least this sword wasn't super special.

He checked the furthest area from the door he came in from and was shocked to discover a huge chained off the area and the huge iron chains were humming with lightning that was coming from seals written into the stone walls and when he peered past the chains all he saw was a huge pot it was easily the same size as him with huge orange ropes wrapped around near the top.

"What the hell? A pot why?" Naruto was very confused, it just looked like a normal pot albeit a huge one but it was still just a pot.

"Whatever it's not what I'm here for," Naruto said and turned around and left the room making sure to remember to close the door behind him.

He ended up going up another 4 floors before he came to something that was different from the rest of the rooms, this one was locked tightly and that made Naruto smile.

Even the armoury was not locked but this room was locked which meant it had something worth putting behind locks which usually meant what Ninja Clans held as the most precious; Ninjutsu, Hiden Jutsu, Kinjutsu.

"It's about time I found it." Naruto said annoyed as he got his lockpicking tools out again.

It took Naruto far longer than the kitchen door he picked to get in the building but eventually, the final tumbler fell into place and with a small click the door swung open to reveal what Naruto had been looking for the most: A Library.

"Yes." He could not contain his glee and began to look around the room with his Clone, both of them moved with gusto and purpose.

He found the Ranton Ninjutsu section easily and eagerly began to copy over the words contained within, he even found training scrolls that instructed how to use Ranton which was obviously intended for young Ninja first learning about their Kekkei Genkai, this would be almost as good as being trained by a member of the Clan like how Haku had trained him. Not as good but close enough.

His clone even found a scroll called Ranton Ougi, which meant that the Jutsu in that scroll was kept from the rank and file of the Bofu Clan and only used by the stronger Ninja.

Naruto must have spent the next 5 or so minutes just copying scroll after scroll with childlike glee because now all he needed was a Bofu Clan member with the Kekkei Genkai and he was set.

"Nothing can go wrong now, this is going to be even easier than the Kaguya." Naruto said as he was finishing up.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

In the future a certain Ninja would call situations like this 'Naruto's Law' and it was very a simple concept, 'Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.'

Naruto would eventually learn not to open his mouth at critical times. But that was for the future.
