Earths Mightiest Heroes after a clash with their foes cross paths with Avatar Korra and find themselves standing together against a common threat to both their worlds. On that day they became The Avengers.

9. 8: The Aftermath

Can I just apologise for the late update folks, I've just got a lot going on my personal life right now what with finding a job, helping my sister move and everything else on top its just been a little hectic right now. So I thank you all for your continued patience and I shall try to make updates to my stories more frequent. So with patience comes reward so lets dive straight in!

Chapter VIII:

:The Aftermath:

As Republic City is coated in snow all eyes are on the Police station where inside the solitude of the Chiefs office a radio broadcast is playing. A press conference held by Councilman Tarrlok.

"Although the Hundred Year War has long passed, we are not living in a time of peace." Tarrloks voice bellowed from the radio. "These revolutionaries who call themselves "Equalists" are not interested in equality at all. They just want to wage war against benders. They are aided by terrorists named AIM who are no different from them and because of them they threat to tear apart this republic that has stood for so many years." In her office Lin sat in her chair listening to the broadcast and just had a look of pain and frustration.

"Chief Beifong was supposed to protect Republic City, but she was powerless to stop Amon's attack on the arena." Tarrloks voice continued. "Even with the aid of the so called Avengers who promised to aid the Avatar in protecting this city and yet have more numbers in their ranks than they reveal with the arrival of a brute and a being who claims to be a god!" She has failed us all. If we are to survive these dire times, our law enforcement needs new leadership."

With that last statement Lin just switched the radio off. Though she wouldn't show it, she was devastated about these recent events. She was so confident that she could protect the arena, but Amon and AIM outsmarted her with these new armaments. Tenzin was right Tarrlok took advantage of this situation and now she was being used as a scape goat. She let out a breath of great frustration just what was she going to do, she couldn't afford to lose her position as chief as her mother was the chief of police so it would be like she was dishonouring her memory.

"Nothing good on the radio lately?" Said a voice from behind her she turned round in her chair and saw Steve Rogers was standing at the door to her office in his casual attire.

"Depends do all broadcasts these days remind me of what I failed to do." Lin said as he walked into the room the super soldier could see how last nights events had taken an effect on her. "Tenzin was right, I let Tarrlok take advantage and Amon just added fuel to the fire."

"Lin we've been over this you can't blame yourself, he played all of us." Steve explained to her. "We were prepared for the Chi blockers but not these new armaments. As for public opinion you shouldn't let that get to you, I can't tell you how many times people have judged The Avengers thinking we're vigilantes that need to be kept in check even after everything. But we don't let that define us."

Lin couldn't help but smile at the Captains motivational words. "Wow, I wish I had that kind of determination Rogers." However she looked down with shame and frustration.

Steve could see how frustrated the chief of police was with herself, she was on the verge of losing everything if she didn't try and do something to restore her good name. So he decided to try and help.

"Okay come on let's go." Steve said as he was leaving which took Lin by surprises.

"Wait what, where are we going." Lin asked as she stood up from her desk.

"Somewhere to burn of some steam." Steve said to her as he walked out the door, Lin did feel frustrated so if Cap knew a way to burn off steam who was she to blow it off. So she followed.

Moments later they were in the Police gym and Lin was punching a punching bag, her upper uniform armour was gone and she was wearing a white vest. Steve was in the room with his hands bandaged up with boxing tape and was wearing a tight white shirt. He was holding the punching bad as Lin punched it.

After a few minutes she stopped punching to wipe away the sweat on her forehead. "I gotta say Steve I never took you as the type of guy who takes out his frustrations on a punching bag."

Steve did give a chuckle. "Well what can I say when you spend half a century frozen in ice you need something to take out your frustration." He explained. "That and I've always been a fighter got into more than a few scrapes even before the serum. I once got beat up in an alley standing up to a bunch of bullies."

"Heh I can see why." Lin smirked. But then she picked up on something. "Hold on, Widow said you were frozen in ice for five years?"

"Oh right I see the confusion, I was actually a soldier back during my worlds second world war and in the critical moment I was frozen in ice that was seventy years ago." Steve explained.

"So wait, you were frozen for seventy years but th..that would make you like one hundred and five years old?" Lin said quite taken aback.

"Yeah." Cap said smiling and Lin was looking a little bashful about it but she just didn't know why she was looking at a guy who was one hundred and five years old but looking at him he looked so young.

"Oh..well uh you look good for a man that age." She then started punching the bag again and again but it seemed to lack some effort in her punches. "Gah!"

"Lin remember the whole idea of this is to burn of your frustration." Steve said in comforting words.

"Yeah well I don't know if you've noticed but I have a lot of rage." Lin explained a little frustrated.

"Well thats something we can work with." Steve said coming round to her side of the punching bag. "Now Lin, I want you to imagine Tarrlok's face on that punching bag. Think of all he's done."

Lin did as the super soldier said and as she did she saw Tarrloks face on the punching bag. He was laughing at her. "Your pathetic Beifong! And of course I'm having you replaced this city needs better." As the imaginary face spoke Lin became more and more enraged clenching her bandaged fists. "Your nothing, your mother would be disappointed, very very disappointed and I'll be seeing the Beifong name go down in flames."

That last statement broke a nerve she yelled punching the bag with all her might punch after punch she dented the punching bag. Until finally with one last flume of rage she punched right through the bag and it was leaking sand. Lin breathed heavily in anger like she had just had a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.

"Heh you know I actually do feel a little better." Lin breathed.

"Well when I did this I punched the bag a little further but it's a start." Steve said as he lifted up another punching back and hooked it up to the chain. So the two went back to burning off some steam with Lin continuing to punch the punching bag.

Meanwhile:

At the Pro-bending arena construction was underway. Following last nights attack the arena was greatly damaged by the Equalists and AIM's armaments and attack ship. So sadly the arena was ordered to be closed down until further notice.

Just then riding towards the arena at top speed was Korra and Kamala riding Naga. The Polar Bear dog came to a stop outside the police tape and Korra with Kamala in tow leaped off the saddle and ran over the police tape, they were hurrying to see two now recently homeless bending brothers.

Meanwhile up in the arenas apartment area Mako and Bolin were packing up their belongings. "I still can't believe they're shutting this place down." Mako said a little sad.

"Yeah. We had some good memories here, didn't we?" Bolin said sighing in agreement as his older brother stacked a crate on a pile in the room.

Just then Korra and Kamala emerged from the floor door below climbing the stairs. Korra was hurrying up them very excited indeed. "Hey guys." Kamala greeted.

"Oh hey Kamala." Bolin greeted. Kamala couldn't help but feel a little sympathy towards the boys for this whole situation.

"So you guys are really moving out? I'm so sorry." Kamala said sympathetically. "I just wish we could've prevented this.

"Hey it's okay don't worry about it, either way it would've happened." Mako said to her. Knowing that despite the Avengers best efforts the council still voted to close the arena after last nights events.

"So where are you guys going to go?" Kamala then asked.

"Well…" However before Mako could answer that.

"We've actually got some great news for you guys." Korra said very excitedly. "You don't have to go back on the streets. I talked to Tenzin and made all the arrangements. You can come live on Air Temple Island with me!"

"Wait is that why you were so excited this morning?" Kamala asked feeling a little excited herself.

"Yeah!" Korra said to her.

"Oh, we'd love to, but …" Mako tried to explain to the two girls but his brother beat him to it.

"Asami already invited us to live in her dad's giant mansion!" Bolin said very excited. Much to Korras disappointment Kamala was disappointed too but she was happy for them. "From here on out, it's gonna be the lap of luxury for us." He then said with his arm round his brother.

"Wow guys thats great news, you guys are going to be living the good life!" Kamala said happy and a little disappointed.

"I know right!" Bolin exclaimed.

"Oh hey, Korra, Kamala I was hoping you would stop by." Asami called down from the rafters above with Pabu in her arms. Korra had an irritated look on her face but didn't face Asami. Pabu then climbed down the ladder and leaped onto Kamala's head.

"Oh hey Asami good to see you." Kamala greeted smiling while cuddling the Fire Ferret.

"So how's your friend Thor settling into the Air Temple?" Asami then asked since Kamala had told Mako and Bolin about Thor it was inevitable it would reach Asami too. However Kamala and Korra grimaced at that question.

Air Temple Island:

Thor was sitting outside in the Air Temple courtyard he did like the overall look of his new environment. In a way it did remind him a little of was looking at the air bending children, namely Meelo trying to lift Thor's hammer Moljnir. He pulled and pulled but it still wouldn't move. Jinora and Ikki watched with interest.

"I call down the lightning!" Meelo growled but ended up falling on his butt letting go of the handle.

Thor couldn't help but chuckle as he reached his hand out and in seconds the hammer flew straight into his palm. The airbender kids couldn't help but be impressed.

"I do admire your determination young one, however I'm afraid Moljnir finds you unworthy." Thor said smiling in sympathy.

"I refuse to accept defeat!" Meelo exclaimed as he bounced to his feet. Leaving the god of thunder chuckling.

"How can a hammer choose?" Jinora asked. "Kamala said your hammer chose its worthy wielder but how?"

"Ah a curious one you are young Jinora, but it's simply Asgardian magic so only one who is worthy can wield it." Thor explained as he placed the hammer in front of the young ones and the hammer lit up with an inscription.

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor?" Ikki read."

"Indeed." Thor said just then Pema came out with some glasses of Leeche juice for the kids.

"So who wants a drink of leechie juice?" Pema asked.

"I do!" The kids said and they took a cup, Thor being curious and being polite decided to try it.

"Thank you fair Pema." Thor said gratefully.

"My pleasure, you are our guest." Pema said and much to their amazement Thor drank down the whole glass in more than a few seconds. He tasted the drink in his mouth before swallowing.

"Hm. This drink I like it." Thor said smiling.

"Why thank you…" Pema said but then.

"ANOTHER!" Thor smashed the glass into the ground completely surprising the Airbender kids and Pema, why the heck did their guest just do that?

Pro Bending Arena:

"Yeah let's just say Tenzin's going to be billing Tony for all the glass and cups Thor smashes during our stay." Kamala chuckled while rubbing the back of her , Mako and Asami looked at each other a little wired out given they didn't quite understand Asgardian customs.

"Okay anyway come on Kamala we better get going." Korra said to her friend before turning to Mako and Bolin. "So, I guess I'll see you guys around, some time." So the two moved to leave, Kamala seeing the awkwardness of the situation.

"Why not tomorrow? I'd love to have you guys come visit the estate." Asami suggested.

"Really?!" Kamala asked rather excited.

Korra however was a little unsure. "Oh I don't know. I have some ... Avatar stuff to do. Not to mention the other Avengers are helping the police trying to track down AIM and the Equalists.

"Oh come on Korra, all work and no play makes us dull heroes." Kamala said to her.

Bolin decided to join in as he held Pabu holding up his paws. "Yeah Kamala's right Korra." He said squeaking to make it sound like Pabu was talking. "We all deserve a little rest and relaxation after all this craziness. We could swim in Asami's pool." Pabu said doing a swimming stroke with his paws. "It'll be fun."

"Come on how can you say no to this little face." Kamala cooed Pabu's cheeks. While she even pulled a puppy dog pout face begging.

Korra just chuckled at their antics, and her friend was right she couldn't say no. "Alright Pabu." Korra chuckled.

Then Asami had another idea. "Hey Kamala, why don't you invite the other Avengers too, it be great to get to know them better, especially Thor."

"Hey if it helps keep our god of Thunder out of Tenzins hair I'm all for it." Kamala agreed. "Besides I know Clint can't resist a good relax at the poolside."

"Great, we'll see you tomorrow." Asami said happily so Kamala followed Korra down the stairs, as they headed down the Avatar in training noticed the smug looking grin on her friends face.

"Wipe that grin of your face right now." Korra said.

"Heh hee jealousy thy name is Korra." Kamala teased.

"Shut up!" Korra teased back ruffling her friends hair a little who giggle.

Police station:

Back at the station gym, Lin and Steve had finished punching their stress out on the punching bags. Steve had punched on a few himself and he'd destroyed about three.

"I gotta hand it to you Steve you certainly have one heck of a hook." Lin said impressed looking at the destroyed punching bags.

"Well you weren't so bad yourself." Steve chuckled.

"And hey thanks, ever since this whole mess with the Equalists, AIM, and Tarrlok's pressure on this whole situation I feel like I'm hanging off the edge of a cliff." Lin admitted.

"Hey we all are, even during the war some of the men I followed into battle were on that same edge." Steve explained. "Even now with the Avengers each of us have been under pressure earning back the publics trust in our world or even here and now with Amon and AIM. But you know how we get through it?"

"How?" Lin asked.

"Together." Steve said to her with a hand on her shoulder.

It was then that Lin had to admit she truly admired the captains determination and leadership. In the short time she'd known him he'd seen him take on the impossible with confidence in his team, the Avatar, Tenzin and even her all without doubt or deviance. She began to think she could learn something from his example, and yet she was feeling something more than admiration.

Just then Lieutenant Saikhan entered the room with Black Widow in full uniform and carrying . "Chief." He said getting Lin's attention.

"What is it?" Lin asked.

"Widow has come across something you'll want to hear, we got an anonymous tip saying something about a store area for Equalist weapons." Saikhan explained.

"Based on the description from the intel it sounds like a weapons cache located in the factory district, and it's meant to be a printing area for Cabbage Corp" Black Widow explained.

Lin realised this maybe the lead they've been waiting for. "Get a squad together we need to move now!"

"Yes chief." Saikhan said and hurried to assemble a strike team.

Lin then turned to Widow and Steve. "So you two up for a fight?" She smirked.

It was then Widow tossed Steve the bag and when he opened it he smirked too. "Always." He said pulling out his shield and uniform.

Factory district:

In the quiet setting of the factory district, a small flock of Lizard crows were looking for scraps of food outside a factory owned by Cabbage Corp, another industry company in Republic City. All of a sudden the Lizard Crows cawed in shock as they scattered when thundering along the road was a large van with a snowplough shaped battering ram. It crashed straight into the doors and pouring out of it was a squad of Metalbender officers lead by Captain America now suited up and held his shield out at the ready taking point.

Then crashing through the window came more Metal Benders on cables lead by Black Widow. They all landed and retracted their cables.

"Search the area but be on your guard if this is a weapons cache there's likely to be traps." Captain America called.

The officers searched the whole building and what they found was a number of printing presses. Then in some crates that Widow opened with her pistol they found posters of Amon, it was a large number of Equalists propaganda.

Cap then used his shield to smash open another crate and an officer took a look inside and found it was full of the shock gloves the Equalists used. Another crate contained jet packs that are used by AIM, and energy blasters too. It was clear AIM was building the Equalist's a new arsenal, and Cabbage Corp were the ones supplying the resources.

"I was right it is a weapons cache." Black Widow said.

"Well Natasha it looks like our intel was good." Lin said now in full uniform as she and Saikhan arrived on the scene.

"There's enough evidence here to bury Cabbage Corp for an eternity." Saikhan realised.

However while Lin surveyed the situation on this investigation Black Widow was deep in thought. Though the evidence pointed to Cabbage Corp it all seemed too easy that they found the cache she knew AIM let alone the Equalists were never this sloppy.

---

Later: Cabbage Corp:

Soon a large group of reporters were outside Cabbage Corps main building. A statue stood upfront of a man that was holding a cabbage in front of a cabbage stand. The Metal Bending officers lead by Saikhan were taking the companies CEO into custardy he was an oldman dressed in green with tanned skin.

"This is an outrage! I'm innocent!" The owner named Lau Gan Lan who was quite belligerent.

"Yeah, yeah. That's what they all say." Saikhan blankly said as he escorted him away. Lin, Captain America and Black Widow then addressed the reporters who had a whole load of questions.

"Is it true that Cabbage Corp is conspiring with the Equalists? If so does that mean they are also conspiring with AIM too?" One reporter asked as the cameras flashed and the microphones came forwards.

"The evidence points in that direction, but the investigation is ongoing." Lin addressed the reporters. "For the time being, we have frozen Mr. Gan-Lan's assets and are closing Cabbage Corp."

"No! Not my Cabbage Corp!" Lau Gan Lan cried with tears in his eyes. Seeing his company being taken away in an instant. The officers locked him up in the police van.

As the reporters left this left Lin soon followed her squad which left Widow and Cap alone. "Nat I don't like this we found that cache too easily."

"I was just thinking the same thing." Widow said in agreement, not liking this situation at all. "I have a bad feeling we just arrested a fall guy."

---

Police Station

Later that evening at the police station, Korra and Kamala were there in the waiting room. As they looked at their reflections in the floor they heard a familiar voice.

"Hey, Korra. Hey Kamala." The two looked and saw sitting on a bench was Tahno, though he looked very different his hair was a mess and there were bags under his eyes.

"Tahno?" The two of them said quite surprised, not surprising considering Amon had taken his and the other Wolfbats bending away.

They sat down on the bench and Kamala looked in genuine concern. "Wow, you look awful." She said.

"I feel awful." Tahno said very depressed.

"Listen, I know we're not exactly best friends, but I'm sorry Amon took your bending." Korra said to him out of sympathy.

"I've been to the best healers in the city. Whatever Amon did to me, it's permanent." A depressed Tahno told them both.

"Tahno I'm so sorry." Kamala said to him.

Tahno then looked at them. "Thanks little ferret, but the truth is you were right I brought this on myself. I've had time to think and well I guess we've been top dog so long we knew no other way to keep it." He said to them and the two girls were very surprised by how sincere he was being.

His attitude then changed. "You guys have gotta get him for me!" He said determined.

"We will, and when we see Amon, we'll give him a couple of hits for you." Korra nodded equally determined.

Kamala placed a hand on Tahno's shoulder. "Listen I don't pretend to know the future but if there is a way to restore your bending we'll find a way." She said. "And if we do…you and the Wolfbats owe the Fire Ferrets a rematch, fair and square this time." She then smirked.

That did seem to perk Tahno up a bit as he smiled. "Heh I'll hold you to that little ferret." Just then Lin, Tenzin, Tony and Black Widow came out with Hiroshi Sato after questioning him as a witness during the Arena attack.

"Mr. Sato, if you remember anything else about what you saw during Amon's attack, be sure to let us know." Lin said to him.

"I'm happy to help any way I can. I want these Equalists to pay for what they've done." Hiroshi said to them before turning to Tony. "Incidentally Tony, thank you for rescuing myself and my daughter during the skirmish, your armour was more than a match for them."

"Ah don't sweat it Hiroshi, but it was really your daughter who saved both our skins." Tony admitted.

"True but your Iron Man armour was what saved her and me. I'll be sure to try and return the favour." Hiroshi said as he left the Police station.

Tenzin and Lin then turned their attention to Tahno, Korra and Kamala. "We're ready for you now." The Airbending master said to Tahno.

The two walked away and soon Tahno soon followed, but not before he looked back at Korra and Kamala. "See you around "Ah"vatar and Little Ferret." He then smirked. Korra and Kamala simply shook their heads even without his bending he can still make wise cracks.

Later that night:

Night crawled in on the police precinct, Tahno after he was questioned by Lin, Cap, Tenzin and Widow about the events of the arena attack had been sent home. However a secret meeting was being held in Lins office between her, Tenzin, Cap and Widow regarding some recent suspicions.

"So your saying that Cabbage Corp could've been a red herring to throw us off the scent?" Lin questioned.

"Thats exactly what I'm saying Lin, we've been dealing with MODOK and AIM for sometime now and I can tell you they're never this sloppy to leave weapons caches unguarded." Black Widow explained. "Not to mention we know Amon has been carefully planning his every move so he wouldn't carelessly let his weapons provider get caught."

"Could it be he was tying up loose ends?" Tenzin asked.

"Not likely, my guess is he was giving us a fall guy to throw us off the scent." Captain America explained. "This sort of thing has happened before. When we went up against the Shadow Council, they let our friend Black Panther take the blame for my supposed murder some years ago when in actual fact I was in a pocket dimension, but while the other Avengers were busy trying to apprehend him they were carrying out their plans."

"Yeah despite the others trust of Black Panther keeping secrets we were all too blinded to see the truth. That and I was held prisoner on an island while an imposter took my place." Black Widow agreed.

"Then if what your saying is true the one providing resources to AIM and the Equalists is still out there?" Tenzin dreaded starting to get the picture.

"And all the while we're still chasing breadcrumbs with no new leads!" Lin said more frustrated than before. "On top of that I've still got Tarrlok breathing down my neck."

Black Widow knew that without a lead they had no way of determining the identity of the real mastermind behind AIM's and the Equalist's new arsenal. So she tried a new idea.

"Well thats why I want to try a different tactic." Black Widow as she turned to Lin. "With your permission Lin I want to take a look at one of those shock gloves we confiscated, if we know how it was put together we could narrow down a suspect."

"How there are many engineers in the city that could engineer it?" Lin questioned.

"Because those shock gloves are based on Iron Mans repulser gauntlets so JARVIS maybe able to dissect it." Black Widow explained. "No clue is too small to escape our tech."

Lin took all this in, and she knew the tech The Avengers had was beyond anything Republic City had. "Well I'm afraid I can't do that." she then said much to everyones surprise, but then she opened a draw and pulled out one of the shock gloves and offered it to Black Widow.

"Officially." She smirked.

"I understand." Black Widow said as she took the shock glove off the Police chief.

The Following Morning:

A new day dawned on Republic City, and in the Quinjet Natasha was up bright and early to set to work. "Okay JARVIS eyes open we've got work to do."

"Of course Miss Romanoff." JARVIS replied as the jets holo console lit up into life.

Natasha then pulled out of her jacket the shock glove and placed it on the control console. She also had a sheet of paper which had the list of companies and components in Republic City. Lin had provided this for her to program into JARVIS's data banks to help narrow the search.

"Analyse the composition of this shock glove, compare it to any existing designs, and to any parts and companies in the city." Natasha said.

"Iniciating deep scan." JARVIS replied and ran a scan of the shock glove.

"Hey Nat." Natasha then turned round to see Clint in causal attire standing in the gangway of the jet. "Korra, Kamala and the rest of us are heading up to the Sato estate to see the kids you wanna come with?"

"Sorry Clint I'm a little busy with a new lead." Natasha explained.

"On the Equalist's new arms merchant?" Clint asked.

"Yeah among other things." Natasha said.

"Okay we'll see you later, good hunting." Clint said as he headed out to join the others.

---

Soon Korra, Kamala, Tony, Steve, Thor, Bruce and Clint now in casual attire, while Steve sported his shield on his back while the prince of Asgard was still in his usual attire, were standing before a very large mansion. They all couldn't help but admire its architecture and beauty.

"Whoa check this place out." Kamala whistled impressed.

"Aye this palace is worthy of the Sato's wealth status, I believe she may have you beaten in your accommodations Stark." Thor agreed smirking at Tony.

"Oh please my mansion is way more slick than this place and much more streamlined in architecture." Tony scoffed hiding his own jealously.

"You mean the one you blew up and sent to the bottom of the ocean in Malibu? Twice" Clint teased.

"Hey that first time was the Mandarins fault!" Tony exclaimed. "Then it was the fault of my old Gunsmith AI program but the point is I didn't blow anything up."

"Sure Tony whatever you say." Bruce agreed.

"Come on guys we don't want to keep them waiting." Korra said as the group approached the mansion.

"Now Thor best behaviour and no smashing the ceramics." Kamala pointed out.

"Fret not young Kamala I shall be on my best behaviour." Thor said confidently.

---

Inside the mansion Pabu jumped off the head of a lion statue and splashed right into a large looking pool below. Mako and Asami were at the right hand edge of the pool in bathing suits and then Bolin appeared on top in a green striped bathing suit.

"Earthbending bomb!" Bolin jumped from the statue and did a bellyflop SPLASHING into the pool. Just then the butler dressed in black arrived with Korra and the Avengers in tow.

"Whoa, this place is so cool!" Kamala breathed.

"Now this is more like it." Clint agreed.

"Okay I'll admit this does beat my mansion." Tony admitted.

"Avatar Korra and The Avengers…have arrived." The butler announced.

Mako and Asami noticed the group in the room. "Hey, Korra! Guys!" Mako called to them.

"Glad you all made it!" Asami greeted them.

Just then Bolin emerged from the water with his arms out. "Welcome to paradise!" He said laying back and floating on the water as Pabu crawled onto his stomach.

"Paradise is right." Steve said looking around.

"Please the pool we have at Avengers Tower is way cooler has a great view of the New York skyline." Tony pointed out.

"Wait Avengers tower has a pool?!" Kamala realised.

"Aye it does." Thor said.

Korra then took a seat on one of the pool benches. "Looks like you guys settled right in." She said a little sarcastically.

"Yeah talk about rags to riches." Kamala agreed.

"Pretty much." Mako said as he did a breast stroke in the pool swimming over to them. "except someone forgot to ask her father if we could stay here." He said teasingly to Asami who swam next to him.

"Yeah, but I smoothed it over with him. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." Asami said.

"Now those are words to live by sister." Kamala smiled.

"Yeah asking for forgiveness than permission is kinda our motto eh Stark?" Clint said.

"True true." Tony agreed.

Bolin climbs out of the pool to greet the group with Pabu on his shoulder. "Guys seriously this is the greatest place in the world! Watch this, watch this." He said before looking to the butler. "Fetch me my towel, good sir."

"Yes, Master Bolin." The Butler said fetching him a towel.

"Master Bolin! Ha, I love this guy." Bolin chuckled as Pabu climbed onto his head. "Now pat me dry." He said holding his arms out.

"As you wish." The butler then took the towel and pats the young Earthbender down while he moves to dry all over.

"Don't forget Master Pabu." Bolin pointed out.

"Wouldn't dream of it, sir." The butler said as he placed the towel on the small Fire Ferret and rubbed him dry. As the towel was removed Pabu's fur poofed up and was all spiky. He squeaked in response.

Kamala couldn't help but giggle at the small Fire Ferret. Just as the Butler turned around Bolin jumped straight back into the pool with a splash greatly irritating the Butler.

"Man Bolin way to make a splash." Tony smirked.

"Aye most certainly." Thor chuckled.

Soon Asami swam up to the group on the edge of the pool, it was then she took note of the God of Thunder. "Hey your one of the new Avengers, Thor right?"

"Indeed I am. I am Thor the Thunderer son of Odin, Prince of Asgard." Thor introduced.

"I'm Asami. It's nice to meet you." She greeted offering a hand shake.

Thor kneeled down and then gave her hand a kiss being gentleman like. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance fair Asami."

"Oh uh thank you." Asami said bashfully. Kamala just shook her head smiling.

"Hey Mako looks like you have a rival." Kamala teased.

"Ha ha very funny." Mako said sarcastically.

"So, what do you have planned for us today? Let me guess, shopping, makeovers …" Korra guessed listing things.

Bolin was dunking his older brothers head into the pool, but got distracted when he heard Korra's list. "Ooh, Ooh! I vote makeovers!" He called but then Mako emerged from the water and dunked his younger brother into the water.

Asami climbed out of the pool and looked to her guests. "I had something a little more exciting in mind." Asami said to them. But they wondered what it was she had in mind.

Soon the group was standing at what looked like a race track as two Sato mobiles zoomed across the track which had loads of twists and turns like a Formula One race track. The cars zoomed past the stands where Asami, Korra, Bolin, Mako and the Avengers were watching. In casual attire.

"A RACE TRACK!" Kamala exclaimed excitedly.

"Pretty cool, huh?" Asami said to everyone.

"Way cooler than a makeover." Korra said looking at the zooming cars in amazement.

"Asami you're officially speaking my language!" Tony agreed. "The smell of burning rubber and cars racing on the track now that's a show!"

"Well I don't know about that." Asami chuckled. "This is where Future Industries test-drives their Satomobiles." She explained as the two Sato mobiles raced round another lap.

"Test drive smest drive its a race track in my book." Clint said.

"Most impressive." Bruce agreed seeing the cars go round.

"So any of you ever been behind the wheel?" Asami asked.

"Oh I've been in my share of fast cars even took part in a race once." Tony explained. "Until a maniac with energy whips tried to slice me in half." He then admitted.

"I'm really more of a bike person myself but I've been trained how to man a vehicle." Steve said.

"Every vehicle I've been in usually has holes in it." Bruce admitted.

"Yeah well me and Nat have a flying car so that beats all." Clint said.

"Flying car?" Asami questioned.

"Yeah being former SHIELD Agents have its advantages." Clint explained.

"An Asgardian warrior needs no transport." Thor explained. "For me it is flight or passage over the Bifrost bridge."

"I don't really have my learners permit yet but yeah I like a good race car." Kamala said.

"The only thing I know how to drive is a polar bear dog." Korra admitted.

Then Asami had an idea. "You want me to take you for a spin?"

Korra was most taken aback but she couldn't contain her excitement anymore. "Lets do it!"

"Hey can I come too!" Kamala said rather excited.

"Sure you can ride in the other car." Asami said.

"Mind if I drive that car?" Tony asked.

"You? You sure about that?" Asami asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Kid I'm all too familiar with driving a race car, the real question is can you keep up with me little lady?" He then teased.

"Oh ho okay your on!" Asami smirked and the challenge was on.

The two racing Sato Mobiles were at the start line. In the red car was Tony and Kamala. Tony had a red helmet on with goggles while Kamala had a similar helmet with goggles. While in the yellow car Korra was in the back with a blue helmet with goggles while Asami had a red helmet with green goggles. The test driver at the far end was a little concerned about Tony driving the car but after the beauteous girl spoke to him he agreed.

Tony and Asami looked at each other from their cars and smirked like it was pre race taunting. It was so tense Fast and the Furious style. The test driver in blue then raised a white flag then waved it and the two racers floored the accelerator and raced away.

"YEAHHHH!" Kamala cried as the two cars zoomed round the track.

Tony was leading the race as they moved into the first corner. Turning the corner Tony powerslided the car round the corner as Asami and Korra did the same. Zooming into the straight. The beauteous girl then smirked as she was catching up with Tony and Kamala. The polymorph looked and saw they were gaining on them.

"Tony they're catching up!" Kamala called.

"Not for long hold tight kid!" Tony called and made a shift in gears and floored the accelerate. However Asami was closing the gap.

"WHOOOO!" Bolin cheered from the rafters.

"YEAH!" Mako cheered.

"Come on!" Clint cheered also. Bruce and Steve just shook their heads as they looked at the teams amusement.

"HONOUR US WELL STARK!" Thor called as he raised his hammer.

The two cars raced into the third to last corner with Tony and Kamala still holding the lead. Tony glanced behind him and saw Asami and Korra's car was closing in so he quickly blocked their approach moving to the left cutting off their overtake.

However Asami wasn't giving in that easily she shifted the gear stick and moved her feet on the clutch and accelerator peddles moving to the right of Tony and Kamala. Tony had to admit he was enjoying this it been a long time since he had a challenge. While Korra and Kamala were just having the time of their lives. They shot round the second to last corner with the rear wheel of Asami and Korra's car scraping against the barrier. Asami just smirked she had the armoured Avenger right where she wanted him.

Korra looked worried as she saw they were neck and neck with Tony and Kamala. Kamala looked at Korra who looked with worry and excitement. Tony then tried to accelerate past but then the front wheel of the car caught the back wheel of Asami's casing Tony to swerve.

Which allowed the rival car to zoom on ahead with a smile of excitement on the Avatars face the two zoomed across the line while Tony and Kamala span across it. They managed to straighten the car.

"Whoa she's good!" Kamala said amazed at a move that would make Dom Torreto proud.

"Yeah she is." Tony smirked impressively, despite he didn't win he couldn't stop being amazed by this girls talent.

With that the two cars headed into the pit lane where they came to a stop. Korra leaped out of the car still reeling from it all.

"That was amazing! I didn't think we'd make it." Korra said very thrilled as Asami climbed out of the car.

"Well, you can't be afraid to mix it up sometimes." Asami said pulling her hair out of her suit collar.

"I'll say." Kamala called getting out of the second car. "You were amazing out there! I've never seen that kind of driving before!"

"Well I gotta say Asami." Tony said pulling his helmet off. "You never cease to surprise me, you ever thought about trying out for the racing circuit?"

"Racing circuit?" Asami asked a little confused.

"Oh it's a sport back where we're from where several cars like this but more souped up race round a track to see who's the fastest and whoever finishes first wins." Kamala explained. "Its kinda like what we did today." She then showed Asami a picture on her phone of some said fast cars she'd seen with her friends back on their earth.

"Wow this is one amazing device, and that vehicle looks so..so streamlined and fast!" Asami said very amazed.

"Yep well thats the kinda thing we have back home." Called Clint as he, Steve, Bruce and Thor came over.

"I gotta admit, I had you pegged wrong." Korra admitted. I thought you were kind of ... prissy. Eh-No offense!" She said.

"It's all right," Asami laughed understandingly. "people usually assume that I'm daddy's helpless little girl, but I can handle myself. I mean, I've been in self-defense classes since I was this high." She showed her hand near her waist to show her point. "My dad made sure that I would always be able to protect myself."

"Smart man." Steve complimented.

"Yeah if what I saw at the arena is anything to go by." Tony agreed as he looked at the cars engine. "You know if you change the gasket a little you can expect an increase in speed."

"Great I'll keep that in mind." Asami said.

"Well I for one am glad to have you in our group." Kamala said. "Its nice to have another girl to talk to."

"I'm glad too Kamala." Asami chuckled. She then looked to Tony, she was wanting to ask him something since they arrived but never had the chance to. But she decided now was the time.

"Hey Tony." She said getting his attention.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Well I've been meaning to ask this but, whats that light in your chest?" She asked pointing to the arc light beaming through his shirt.

"Oh this." Tony pointed. "Well I guess it's okay for you to know." He then lifted up his shirt and what they saw was a small metal circle with a bright light in the centre.

"Whoa!" Bolin said very amazed.

"What is that?" Korra asked.

"This is a miniaturised Arc reactor." Tony explained.

"Arc reactor? You mean that power source you developed, the one you showed me and my father?" Asami asked.

"Thats the one." Tony said.

"But why is it in your chest?" Asami asked.

"Well you remember how I told you and your dad I had an accident some years ago when I made weapons?" Tony then asked.

Asami nodded at the question. "Well some years ago after I showcased my new weapon the Jericho missile the military convoy I was in was attacked and well I got caught in a bomb blast. One which unfortunately was one of my own design." He explained. "I was hurt and my heart was greatly injured the most as some shrapnel ended up inside it."

"What?!" Bolin and Mako said in horror while Korra and Asami gasped in horror as well.

"Oh my god." Asami said covering her mouth.

"Yeah by all rights I should've been dead, but when I was captured by these mercenaries called the Ten Rings, a man named Yinsen saved my life by removing what shrapnel he could but made an electro magnet hooked up to a car battery to keep the rest of it out." Tony continued his story. "My captors wanted me and Yinsen to make the missile I showed to the military but instead we made this in secret it helped keep the shrapnel out of my heart."

"So…that thing is all thats keeping you alive?" Asami realised.

"Yeah so it's basically part of me, but its real purpose was to power something else. It was in that cave that Iron Man was born." Tony explained. "But well when we tried to escape. Yinsen he…he didn't make it."

"Thats horrible!" Korra said rather sad.

"Yeah it was then I promised to spend my life cleaning up the mistakes I made, so I stopped making weapons and chose a different path. In a way Yinsen made me the man I am today." Tony finished lowering down his shirt. "And I knew in my heart what the right thing to do is like I knew what I had to do."

"Wow, thats one heck of an origin story." Bolin realised.

"You want a crazy origin story how about Caps." Kamala said gesturing to said super soldier.

"Oh yeah Kamala said you were frozen in the ice just like Aang, right?" Mako asked hearing some of the story from Kamala.

"Thats right." Steve explained. "It was all because of a gift given to me by a scientist named Eirkstien. See many years ago during our worlds second world war, he was a scientist who developed a formula that would turn a man into a super soldier. Back then I was an asthmatic and was very weak, but he saw something in me that others didn't." Steve continued and everyone listened intently.

"In essence when he gave me the serum he made me what I am today. But when I was given the serum a Hydra spy who infiltrated the demonstration killed Eirkstien and took what samples of the serum he had left." Steve said much to the horror of everyone.

"Oh my, but what happened to the serum?" Asami asked.

"Luckily I was able to stop him and the remaining serum was destroyed. I was the only surviving example of it." Steve explained. "At first I was used as a poster boy, but when my friend Bucky Barnes was captured by Hydra, I went in to go save him and after that I became an actual captain."

"So Captain America was once a stage name?" Mako asked.

"Yeah and I guess you could say after a while it grew on me." Steve explained.

"After he was frozen in ice though many people thought he was lost but what he stood for didn't." Tony explained.

"However it had some great scientists thinking, though the original formula was lost what was to stop them from trying to recreate it." Bruce then said. "Thats where things went a little hay wire for me."

"You mean people wanted another Captain America? Another super soldier?" Korra asked.

"Well why wouldn't they we've seen what Steve can do. So I wouldn't be surprised." Mako realised.

"Yes over time many have tried to recreate the formula but none succeeded." Bruce explained. "Thats when I came in." Everyone then listened to Bruce's story. "See myself and my lab partner Betty Ross…"

"Also his girlfriend." Kamala added much to Bruce's dismay.

Never the less he continued. "… were experimenting with Gamma radiation as a potential clean source of energy." He explained.

"Whats Gamma radiation?" Asami asked.

"Its basically a form of electromagnetic radiation which is given off from radio active decay with short electro magnetic waves kinda like X rays." Tony explained.

"Right, I also thought it could be the key to the serum, but when Betty's father General Ross found out he wanted to weaponise the project turn it into a clean bomb." Bruce explained a little frustrated. "He agreed to fund my experiments but on the day we tested the bomb something happened. Moments before we detonated the bomb a young runaway named Rick Jones was in the test area, I quickly got him to the trench but I was too late the bomb exploded and I was exposed to massive amounts of gamma radiation."

"Whoa are all you guys born from accidents?" Bolin asked but received a glare from everyone present it was then he realised his comment could be considered offensive. "Uh no offence."

"None taken." The Avengers said.

"Well as I was exposed I changed and well…you saw what happened at the arena." Bruce explained.

"You mean that green Hulk?" Asami asked.

"Yeah about that, Bruce. Kamala said when you get angry you become the Hulk but when the Lieutenant ambushed you he just tased you how does that work?" Korra asked.

"Korra I don't think Bruce wants…" Kamala tried but.

"Its okay Kamala while we're staying here she should know." He said. "Well I refer to my condition as the Gamma effect, for the most part I have it under control but whenever I get too angry or stressed the gamma irradiated cells in my body take over, he takes over and well the Hulk is the end result." Everyone was both amazed and shocked by Bruce's story. "I've often seen the Hulk as a curse but well over time I wondered if I could use it for good, and well here we are."

"Aye, and as for myself I was rather arrogant and after an unprovoked attack on the Frost giants putting Asgard on the brink of war my father stripped me of my powers and banished me to Midgard." Thor explained.

"Midgard?" Korra asked.

"Its basically the Asgardian word for Earth." Kamala explained.

"Aye, for out beyond the boarders of Midgard lie the nine realms. All connected by the life tree Yggdrasil. Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim, Svartalfheim, Muspelheim, Nifleheim and Alfheim, and once Midgard was the centre realm." Thor explained to them. "Each of them can be traveled to by means of the Bifrost bridge manned by its guardian Hiemdal.

"But why did your father banish you?" Bolin asked.

"As punishment, but over time I gained clarity, and I met someone on Midgard, her name was Jane, Jane Foster and she showed me the wonders this realm had to offer." Thor explained. "I began to see Midgard as more than a realm of mortals. In a sudden act when the Destroyer armour attacked I realised the greater truth. Power can corrupt, unless tried by humility, and through an act of self sacrifice I redeemed myself in my fathers eyes and regained my powers."

Korra listened to this story most intently of all, it was like she was having another lesson on her own abilities. She knew she had yet to unlock her full potential, but wondered if like the God of Thunder could she be corrupted? Or if Amon did manage to take her bending what would become of her?

"And just in time for my brother Loki attempted to wipe out the Frost giants and rule Asgard and the nine realms himself. However I was able to thwart his plans, but he fell into an abyss." Thor explained. "However he really ended up in a different realm and was given an army to attack Midgard."

"Said attack is what brought the Avengers together." Kamala then explained.

"So through all that you guys were brought together as a team?" Mako wondered.

"Well after a few rough patches yeah." Tony pointed out.

"So its like you were all bound by fate, if all these events didn't happen you wouldn't have met and come together as a team?" Korra wondered.

"I guess we really hadn't thought about it like that." Bruce said.

"So Clint whats your story?" Bolin then asked.

"Well there's not much to tell really. Except I ran away and joined the circus." Clint explained. "But well lets just say this Circus committed crimes with their tricks back then I was known as Trickshot." He explained.

"Wait you were a criminal?" Asami asked.

"Hey sue me I'm a louse judge of character, until I got caught, but Director Fury the head of SHIELD saw my talents and offered me a clean slate." He then said.

"Shield?" Mako asked.

"It stands for The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division." Clint explained. "Basically they're a secret law enforcement organisation that handle bigger things than street crimes."

"It was actually the successor to the Strategic Scientific Reserve the ones I fought beside during the war. And after my supposed death SHIELD was then founded after Hydras defeat in World War II." Steve then said.

"Yeah he saw my talents and recruited me giving me the name Hawkeye and teamed me up with Black Widow and the rest is history." Clint said.

"Wow sounds like you guys have been through some crazy times." Asami realised.

"Aye we have saved Midgard on many occasions. Have I ever told you all of how I defeated the fire demon Surter, they speak of it still in the halls of Valhalla." Thor explained.

"Its really a cool story." Kamala said.

"Yeah one he keeps telling over and over and over." Tony joked.

"You joke Stark yet you still choose to boast of your own achievements in taking down villains like the Crimson of Dynamo." Thor joked and everyone laughed which resulted in Tony sulking.

After having a good laugh, Asami decided to change the subject. Namely to a certain object on the Super Soldiers back.

"Hey Steve, so why do you carry a shield with you?" Asami asked.

"Well I like to keep it on me at all times, plus me and this shield have been through a lot together." Steve acknowledged as he took it off his back and showed it off.

"That shields been with him since the second world war, even when he was frozen." Kamala explained all fan girl like.

Asami was rather intrigued by the shield. "Ah may I?" she asked wanting to have a closer look. Steve handed her the shield so she could take a look she then put her left arm into the straps and held it. "Wow, its so light." She swung her arm round amazed how light the shield was.

"Hey stand like this." Kamala suggested posing with her arm across all Captain America style. Asami then stood in a similar pose.

"Wow kid it actually suits you." Clint said.

The beauteous girl gave a small smile acknowledging that compliment. She felt the rounded edge of the shield to get a better feel for the metal. "What kind of metal is this?" Asami asked.

"Its called Vibranium, it's stronger than normal steel and a third of the weight." Tony explained to her while strangely keeping one hand behind his back. "And that's not all." Then suddenly. "THINK FAST!" Tony pulled out one of his repulser gauntlets and fired at Asami taking everyone by surprise who was quick to block it with the shield which vibrated rapidly with a loud gong sound.

Asami's arm shook from the vibrations in the shield. "Whoa…" Asami breathed in surprise. "I barely felt that!"

"Thats because that metal is completely vibration absorbent." Tony explained.

"Ah hence its name." Mako realised.

Asami couldn't stop being impressed by the Avengers tech. "This kind of metal could revolutionise things here in Republic City." Then she wondered. "So is this metal used in your world?"

"Well actually Vibranium is the rarest metal on Earth, and what your holding there is all they had during the war." Steve explained. "But the Vibranium comes from only one place, the nation of Wakanda."

"Wakanda? Whats that?" Korra asked.

"Its a very secretive nation of Africa back on our Earth, but unlike other African tribes they have tech thats way beyond anything we have." Kamala explained. "But they're not very keen on outsiders due to some bad history."

"Thats right, and years ago during the war the Nazi Rouge Science division Hydra attacked Wakanda, luckily myself and Howard Stark were able to stop it." Steve explained and as a token of gratitude King T'chaka gifted the Vibranium to him which was then used to make my shield."

"Hold on Howard Stark?" Asami asked.

"Yeah my dad, he was the US military's biggest contractor during the war." Tony explained.

"Plus we're also good friends with Wakanda's current King T'challa AKA The Black Panther!" Kamala explained. "Look." She then showed the group a photo on her phone of when she and The Avengers were in Wakanda. It was a selfie of her and Black Panther.

"Wow, So what kind of device is this?" Asami asked intrigued by Kamala's phone.

"Its my phone, but it's a more wireless version of what you guys have. You can take it anywhere." Kamala explained.

"Wow, you guys really have tech like this? This could change everything here." Asami said.

"Well you guys aren't too far away from this, but you've still got someways to go." Clint explained.

"Aye, but I would not be so quick to embrace the new technology." Thor said. "For if those who choose to hyper accelerate a civilisation can bring utopia, but also it could bring disaster as well. For there are some things that mortals are not meant to tamper with."

Mako, Bolin, Asami and Korra were all amazed by the Asgardian prince's words. "Whoa thats deep." Bolin said amazed.

"So back to the shield, I don't mean any disrespect Steve but it doesn't look much like a weapon." Asami said to the super soldier.

"Trust me kid in the hands of Captain America, that shield is a weapon." Bruce explained.

"He's not wrong Asami, me and Bolin have seen him use that shield in action." Mako agreed.

"Yeah it packs one heck of a punch!" Bolin agreed pumping his fists in the air. Just then he felt something. "Oh man I gotta go I gotta go!" Bolin panicked desperately needing the bathroom. Much to Mako's dismay.

Meanwhile:

Back on Air Temple island, in the cargo area of the Quinjet Natasha was waiting on the results from JARVIS's deep scan of the shock glove. A few minutes later.

"Deep scan complete." Jarvis sounded and Nat listened to what he found.

"What have you got JARVIS?" Natasha asked listening intently.

"Upon close examination of the glove, it is built very identical to Mr Starks repulsers." JARVIS diagnosed. "The components are of a high grade manufacture."

"Hmm." Nat began to wonder. "JARVIS run a comparison of the components to the Cabbage Corp inventory I've scanned."

The AI acknowledged by scanning running a comparison to the gloves electrics and components to the Cabbage Corp inventory that Lin had given her when said corporation was shut down.

"There are similar components, however they are a very lower grade than what is used in this device." JARVIS relayed.

This was all Natasha needed to confirm her theories. "So Cabbage Corp was set up to take the fall." She realised. "So whoever is supplying AIM and Amon with resources is still out there, but the only other corporation would be…" She suddenly came to a horrifying realisation. "Oh no. Jarvis run a scan of this inventory." She pulled out a sheet of paper from a box that Lin had given her "unofficially' to her to find some clues.

She just prayed what she was asking the AI butler to scan wasn't the right one.

Sato Estate:

Back at the Sato Mansion, Bolin burst through the door. "Emergency, emergency coming through, beep beep!" He sped through the hall to the bathroom like a man possessed.

"I am rather impressed by Bolin for his swiftness." Thor observed.

"Hey when you gotta go you gotta go." Tony said shrugging.

"Uh, is there another bathroom I can use?" Korra asked Asami needing the bathroom herself.

"Yeah me too." Kamala asked.

"We have a lady's powder room upstairs, first door on your right." Asami answered them as Mako stood next to her throwing his arm around her shoulder. "You can freshen up in there."

"Thanks." Korra thanked as she and Kamala headed upstairs.

Later inside the powder room Korra was washing and drying her hands as did Kamala. "So Korra you've really taken to Asami well."

"Yeah she's not so bad after all." Korra acknowledged. "I guess people aren't so bad once you get to know them."

"Words to live by." Kamala smiled.

Just then Korra noticed a small powdered sponge on the side. She picks it up and looks at it rather curiously. Kamala looked as well, however her face turned to horror when she realised what Korra was about to do.

"Korra no!" But it was too late Korra smashed it right on her face and blinded the two of them in makeup dust.

Coughing sounds came from the powder room and Kamala was the first to burst our of the room choking on the powder. Korra then came out rubbing the powder of her face.

"ACK!" Kamala coughed. "Why did you do that!"

"Sorry curiosity got the better of me!" Korra coughed too. "Seriously how do people put this on their faces?"

"Welcome to the modern world of make up and beauty water tribe gal." Kamala joked with a cough.

The Avatar would've cracked a laugh but suddenly she heard something. "No, no! No, I assure you, everything is going exactly as planned…"

It was a voice and to them it sounded a lot like Hirsoshi's they looked around and heard it coming from a nearby room.

They quietly snuck over to the door and listened in, with Korra peaking through the keyhole. "Uh-um, yes ... luckily, the Cabbage Corp investigation has bought us enough time."

"What is it?" Kamala whispered, but Korra simply placed her finger to her lips telling her to shush. Korra looked through the keyhole and saw it was indeed Hiroshi Sato on the phone with someone.

"You assure us that the Avatar and the Avengers know nothing of your involvement, we need to be ready to move quickly." A voice sounded on the phone and much to Kamala's horror and sharp hearing she recognised the voice all to well.

"Trust me, by the end of the week …we'll be ready to strike!" Hiroshi said as he hung up the phone and slammed it down a little angrily.

Korra's pupil shrunk as she looked to Kamala who looked equally as horrified. They didn't want to believe it but it seems like they found who was really behind their enemies new arsenal. They hurried away in case Hiroshi came out of the room.

Back in the main hall, a certain shield bounced off the pillars of the mansion and the Butler ducked as the shield bounced off the stairs and right back into Caps heard the sound of applause from Asami, as she Bolin, Mako and the rest of the team were watching the demonstration of what the shield can do.

"Wow very impressive, just how the heck do you get that good with a shield?" Asami asked amazed by the super soldiers skill.

"Years of practice, plus when your fighting a war you learn as you go." Steve explained to which he and the beauteous girl shared a laugh.

Just then Korra and Kamala ran down the stairs and past the group. "Hey sorry guys we gotta go." Kamala said to everyone.

Asami was most taken aback by that while the other Avengers looked a little confused. "You're leaving? But I-I thought …"

Korra turned round to answer Asami. "Uh, sorry! I forgot, I'm supposed to airsit, I mean babybend, I-I mean babysit the airbender kids." Korra explained.

"Yeah uh, and I said I'd help they can be a bit of a handful." Kamala added not wanting to say anything for obvious reasons. "See you later!" She waved as the two left.

The girls strange behaviour was something of a concern to the could tell from their expressions something was wrong, and it wasn't anything to do with Asami.

"Listen thanks for everything today but we better get going. Too." Steve said to the Beauteous girl.

"Aye many thanks for your hospitality." Thor thanked also as the Avengers also took their leave of the mansion. Leaving Mako, Asami and Bolin completely bewildered why would their friends leave so suddenly. Did they do something wrong?

Later that night: Police station:

Later that night The Avengers now suited up and with the Hulk, were talking with Lin and Tenzin on the roof of the police station. Korra and Ms Marvel had just shared what they learned.

"So hold on let me get this straight." Iron Man with his helmet off said. "You guys think that Hiroshi manufactured those shock gloves and weapons for AIM and The Equalists?"

"While at the same time framing Cabbage Corp to take the fall?" Tenzin also questioned finding this suspicion hard to believe.

"That's a bold accusation, but what proof do you have?" Lin asked also finding it hard to believe this story.

"Well, I don't exactly have proof, but I know what I heard. Sato's up to something." Korra explained.

"Yeah and I know what we heard, Hiroshi was talking to MODOK." Ms Marvel said much to the shock of everyone.

"Your sure?" Cap asked.

"I'm positive Cap I recognised that voice anywhere it was him!" Ms Marvel said every bit convinced.

"Well I'm glad to hear you've taken in some of Nat's advice on listening in. But I don't know kid." Clint said unsure. "Unless we have something solid we're hunting blind."

"I wouldn't be so sure, the kids might be onto something." Said a voice from behind them and they saw Black Widow in full uniform and carrying something in her hand.

"What do you mean Nat?" Cap asked getting everyones attention.

"Upon scanning that shock glove, JARVIS found that the components were of high grade manufacturing." Black Widow explained. "However looking at the inventory we got from Cabbage Corp none of the specs match up as they produce low grade parts."

"Not surprising, from what I heard Cabbage Corp produces engineering that puts even me to shame." Iron man said.

"Right, which is when I decided to look deeper." Black Widow explained. "And out of all the companies in the city only one produces these kinds of high grade components."

"Future Industries, thats where you are leading us correct?" Tenzin asked.

"As a matter of fact I found what I needed to confirm my suspicions in that gift that Tarrlok left on the door step when he was coercing Korra." Black Widow then explained.

"You mean the one Stark tore apart for parts?" Clint asked which did cause the latter to flinch a little.

"Stark why would you defile a gift for parts?" Thor asked not getting the situation.

"Okay first I couldn't call it a gift, more like a bribe from a sleaze ball." Iron Man pointed out. "And second I was going to put it back together because I don't like the guy doesn't mean I have a weakness for classic cars."

"Yeah and the guy who gave that gift was Tarrlok, and he's nothing but a creep who played Korra."Hulk voiced with a growl as he had Bruce's recollection of said councilman.

"Creep is an understatement." Lin agreed. "Go on Widow." She then asked Black Widow to continue.

"Anyway, while the rest of you were at Sato's estate, I paid a visit to his office at the main factory." Black Widow continued. "And well, you'll want to see what I've found." She handed to Cap a small file she had in her hand.

Cap took the file and opened it, but what they found inside, none of them could've guessed. What they pulled out were a number of papers.

"Oh no." Cap breathed. "Tony tell me these aren't what I think they are." Iron Man came over and took a look at the documents himself.

"It is, these are schematics, and I recognise these components a mile away, this is based off AIM's tech which is based of the tech they acquired from me during their takeover." Iron Man confirmed, looking over the schematics and blueprints for jetpacks and even some of AIMs weapons.

However what he saw when he turned the papers really hit him hard. It was photos and pencil drawings and layouts, specifically the photos were of the Iron Man suit in action.

"No!" Tony breathed. "He didn't!" Korra and the other Avengers gathered round to see what Tony looked so horrified at.

Ms Marvel looked at the photos and recognised some of these photos namely where they were taken. "They're they're pictures of you Tony!" She realised. "Hold on thats when we stopped the fire at that building!"

"And thats when we dealt with the Dark Terrigen bomb!" Korra recognised another photo from their battle on the train. Though black and white they were clear enough to see it was Iron Man.

It was then the armoured Avenger put two and two together. "Son of a! Thats how they did it! Why didn't I see it!"

"See what? You going to talk sense or do I have to smash your head?" Hulk asked.

"Hiroshi was interested in my suit! And when he asked me about what people could do with it I disagreed." Iron Man realised. "If there's one thing I've learned in my experience is that rules don't apply to people who want something. If he is helping the Equalists he must've had these photos taken so he could study them and make those knock off repulsers!"

"Tony is this situation that serious?" Tenzin asked seeing that Iron Man was genuinely frightened.

"It is Tenzin and believe me Tonys doing this nonchalance thing right now but trust me he's worried as hell!" Black Widow said very serious, this told the air bending master and chief of police this was grave news indeed.

"Hush you they only managed to partly replicate my tech, okay like nearly seventy percent match but who's counting." Iron Man said trying to not let this get to him.

"Okay so why haven't we seen any Steam Punk Iron Man knock offs?" Hawkeye asked.

"Because, they don't have the main component. Namely this one." Iron Man pointed to his chest piece. "Without the arc reactor they don't have a chance of recreating my suit hence the low grade power source in those gloves. MODOKs spent years trying to replicate my reactor to no avail. But someone with good engineering skills might just pull off replicating AIM's tech."

"Someone of Hiroshi's calibre?" Korra asked.

"I think your starting to get the hang of this Avatar." Iron Man smirked.

"But there's one thing still unclear my friends." Thor then interjected. "Why would this Hiroshi work with that fiend MODOK or these self proclaimed Equalists? What could he possibly wish to accomplish?"

"Thor's got a point, I mean up to this point he's been nothing but a big supporter of us and Korra." Ms Marvel realised the Thunder gods point. "He even sponsored her, Mako and Bolin in the Pro Bending Tournament. I just can't see a motive in all of that?"

Lin took a moment to think and it was then she had a thought. "Actually Kamala, he does have a motive."

"Thats right!" Tenzin realised it too.

"A motive?" Korra asked curiously. "What is it?"

"Yeah what is it?" Ms Marvel asked as hers and the other Avengers interests were peeked at this point.

Tenzin was hesitant to mention this but it was best they knew given the situation. "Twelve years ago, the Agni Kai Triad robbed Sato's mansion." He explained. "A firebender killed Sato's wife during the break in."

"What!" Ms Marvel breathed in horror.

"Thats terrible!" Korra said greatly saddened, she had no idea that Asami had been through such and experience.

"Did she…" Iron Man asked out of concern but Lin interrupted him.

"No neither Hiroshi or his daughter were present during the break in they arrived on the scene moments later." Lin explained.

"I never knew the kid had it rough." Hawkeye said out of sympathy.

"Aye such tragedy, whilst acting supportive of bringing down these villains he maybe hiding his true loyalty." Thor realised. "Could he be aiding them as an act of vengeance?"

"You maybe right." Tenzin realised. "It's possible that he's been harbouring anti-bending sentiment all this time."

"Hiding it in plain sight." Natasha agreed.

"Maybe we should look at Mr. Sato a little more closely." Lin thought.

"So thats the plan we go in and smash the truth out of him!" Hulk exclaimed cracking his fists.

"The last thing we need now is any provocative or rash actions, we need to do this right." Cap suggested. "The best we can do right now is question Hiroshi with our suspicions." He then looked to the Hulk. "Which means big guy you'll have to sit out of this part."

"Humph you best not smash anything without me!" Hulk grumbled.

"Hah hah wouldn't dream of it my friend." Thor chuckled. However Ms Marvel and Korra both showed a look of concern, they had just gotten to know Asami. They hoped she knew nothing of this but at the same time they knew how she and their friends would react about all of this. For once they prayed they were wrong.

---

The following day:

The next day at the Sato Mansion, the butler opened the door and was rather surprised to be greeted by Chief Beifong, Tenzin, Korra, Ms Marvel, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye arrived at their doorstep.

Lin lead the group upstairs while Ms Marvel and Korra were behind them as was Iron Man. They were just passing Mako and Asami on the stairs.

"What's going on? Why are they asking Hiroshi more questions?" Mako asked stopping Korra and Ms Marvel in their tracks.

Korra was hesitant at telling them. So Iron man removed his face plate and spoke to them.

"Okay look, some new evidence has recently come to light and well…" Just then Korra interrupted.

"No Tony I'll tell them." Korra insisted.

"Tell us what?" Asami asked.

Korra took a breath before she spoke. "Well, when we came out of the powder room yesterday Kamala and I over heard him on the phone." She was really hesitant about this next part. "Asami, I don't know how to tell you this, but we think your father might be involved with the Equalists."

"What? I don't believe this." Asami exclaimed incredulously.

"Asami look we're all hoping that isn't the case but until we know anything for sure it doesn't make your dad above suspicion, he's the only other person with the kind of know how to produce those kinds of armourments." Iron Man tried to explain as delicately as possible. However Asami just ran off and hurried up the stairs.

Mako however couldn't believe any of this, that Korra and The Avengers were accusing Hiroshi of helping AIM or the Equalists.

"You spied on Hiroshi? What's your problem?" Mako exclaimed to the two girls making them step back.

"Hey! we didn't spy on anyone we were outside the Powder room and we heard Hiroshi speaking to someone!" Ms Marvel defended Korra.

"Thats the definition of spying Kamala!" Mako exclaimed as he ran after Asami.

"Well that went badly." Iron Man pointed out.

"Ya think!" Korra exclaimed indignantly as they hurried up the stairs.

---

In Hiroshi's office Lin, Tenzin and the other Avengers were currently talking to him. "Mr. Sato, we just have a few follow-up questions for you."

However before they could ask anything Asami burst into the room, with Mako, Korra, Ms Marvel and Iron Man close behind.

"My father is innocent. Just because we're not benders doesn't mean we support those awful Equalists." Asami exclaimed as she stood by her fathers side.

"Equalists?" Hiroshi said quite taken aback. "Is that what this is about? I can assure you I have nothing to do with those radicals." He protested.

"Yeah, you don't know what you're talking about, Korra." Mako agreed from behind the Avatar.

"Actually we do Mako!" Ms Marvel said before turning to Hiroshi. "We over heard you on the phone and I know who you were talking to! It was MODOK!"

"MODOK?" Hiroshi asked. "I do not believe I know what you are talking about."

"Hes the leader of AIM the guys helping the Equalists!"Ms Marvel explained accusingly. "And don't give me the whole you must be mistaken thing I've been up close and personal with him and I know what his demented Inhuman hating voice sounds like!"

"We also heard what you were saying!" Korra pointed at him accusingly. "You said the Cabbage Corp investigation bought you time, and you're getting ready to strike. Explain that!"

However all Hiroshi could do from all these accusations was laugh. "This is all just a misunderstanding, resulting from the young Avatars and Ms Marvels overactive imagination. My number one competitor was knocked out of the game." He explained. "It's providing me an opportunity to strike the market with a new line of Satomobiles." Lin averted her eyes at that wondering if Korra did misunderstand however Black Widow saw differently as did Tony. "It's just business. Nothing nefarious."

"Nothing huh?" Iron Man questioned before he pulled out a certain file and slammed it on his desk. "Then how do you explain this!" It was the photos of his suit and the specs for certain weapons.

"You may not notice Hiroshi but I have a good friend who looks into even the unseeable." Iron Man said. "Isn't that right JARVIS?"

"Indeed sir." A voice emerged from the Iron Man suit much to Asami's and Hiroshi's surprise.

"And he found those shock gloves the Equalists used were done studying my own repulser tech, and last I check Cabbage Corp produces low grade parts unlike yours." Tony explained.

"Further more, I found those plans and pictures when I paid a visit to your factory office yesterday." Black Widow said.

"What you had no right to…" Asami protested but..

"Its okay Asami." Hiroshi said to his daughter. "Those documents were obviously planted by someone trying to frame me, maybe someone in my own company." Hiroshi tried.

"Thats what I thought, but no one has the smarts to pull of this grade of engineering." Tony said placing his hands on the desk. "I told you this before Hiroshi. My tech is not to be used in this world in the wrong hands it could be disastrous!"

"Tony I must say I'm very surprised at you. I mean we are good friends after all, and now your accusing me of this?" Hiroshi said a little hurt.

"Its because of our friendship that I'm giving you a chance to come clean!" Iron Man tried his best to keep his cool. "You know how I recognise the specs here! Because it's based off tech that was stolen from me!"

"Also, as you said your biggest competitor is Cabbage Corp, so if they happen to take the fall for a crime they didn't commit that would benefit your business correct?" Hawkeye asked.

"Well I don't know about that but its how business works." Hiroshi said out of honesty. "But I can assure you I have nothing to do with the Equalists or this AIM."

"Then Mr Sato you won't mind if we take a look around your facilities?" Captain America asked.

"I agree with Captain Rogers, if anything to put our suspicions at rest." Tenzin agreed.

"Oh of course by all means anything to clear up this misunderstanding." Hiroshi said. Asami just sighed in annoyance knowing in her heart it was just a waste of time. Mako was just as convinced he knew something else was going on.

---

With permission granted the Police, with Tenzin, and the Avengers in tow began searching all of Future Industries warehouses. Naga was sniffing crates trying to pick up any unusual scents with Korra. While Iron Man used his armour gauntlet to scan other crates for any weapons or anything similar to his repulser tech.

Lin used her cables to smash open a crate only to find it empty. Thor smashed open a crate only to find just parts for Sato Mobiles. The other officers searched the crates only to find no evidence of Equalist or AIM weaponry/propaganda.

"Is it possible, presidents of Cabbage Corp and Future Industries both have Equalist ties, or did Hiroshi Sato frame his longtime rival, Lau Gan-Lan? Or did Chief Beifong and the so called Avengers just plain arrest the wrong man? So far the investigation has yielded no evidence to incriminate Sato." A news broadcast sounded.

---

At another Future Industries complex, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America and Ms Marvel were searching for any sign of evidence against Hiroshi. Sadly however as they searched the crates one by one and every corner of the warehouse. There was nothing. Ms Marvel opened a crate with her giant hand only to see nothing but Satomobile wheels.

---

Later that night as the Police airship lifted the Metalbending officers into the air. Korra arrived on Naga while Iron Man and Thor landed from the sky on the ground with a loud crash. Soon followed by a descending Quinjet. And exiting the gangway was the rest of the Avengers.

"Anything?" Cap asked.

"Nothing Cap, we've searched these places from top to bottom to top again." Hawkeye said taking off his glasses in frustration. "But we've come up empty no fire arms none of AIM's explosives nothing!"

"I just can't believe it." Korra said in disbelief.

"It would appear Hiroshi is innocent." Lin finally conceded.

"I don't know about that." Black Widow said in disagreement. "We're missing something."

"Natasha maybe right there are many shadows for darkness to hide its secrets." Thor agreed given his own experiences.

"I'm sorry Thor but there's nothing here to support Korra or Kamala's claim even with the evidence Natasha has found." Lin said conceding.

Soon they were joined by a rather annoyed looking Asami with Mako in tow. "Okay, you did your search. Now you can all leave." She said.

Lin just grumbled as she and Captain America simply walked away with the other Avengers to the Quinjet. However just before Korra and Ms Marvel could leave. Mako motioned for them to follow him so they could talk privately. Black Widow noticed as did Captain America.

"So, I hope you're convinced now." Mako said to the two of them.

"No, I'm not! I don't care how cooperative Hiroshi is being, I know he's lying." Korra disagreed.

"Korra's right I know what I heard he was talking to MODOK, and you saw the proof he was studying Tony's suit to make those shock gloves and AIM's weapons!" Ms Marvel protested in agreement.

"You can't know that for sure Kamala, and for all we know someone planted that proof." Mako disagreed.

"Or maybe your too struck by living in luxury to see whats right in front of you?" Korra said taking her friends side.

This just got Mako more and more irritated. "Why are you doing this? Are you that jealous of me and Asami?"

Korra was most taken aback as was Ms Marvel that just touched a nerve. "What?!" She gasped. "Don't be ridiculous! That has nothing to do with it!"

"Seriously we're back to this again! You must've gotten hit in the head by the Wolfbats harder than I thought!" Ms Marvel disagreed. "Look at the facts!"

"The fact is Hiroshi is innocent he supported our team and you guys why would he help Amon?!" Mako argued back.

"Oh I don't know maybe because the Agni Kai's killed his wife when his mansion got robbed! It's a personal vendetta!" Ms Marvel argued sarcastically.

"Don't bring Asami's mother into this Kamala!" Mako warned.

"Hey back up hot head!" Black Widow then said getting between him Ms Marvel and Korra while Cap stood with them. "Look Mako I get it, he has helped you and you don't want to believe he could do something like this. But in my life I've seen people hide who they really are."

"Oh what like you half of you wear masks to conceal your identities who hiding their true selves?!" Mako agreed with her.

"Everyone wears masks kid, but the question is which one is real? The one that hides our faces or the one that is your face?" Black Widow told him. "Its part of my profession when I can tell someone is lying, which Hiroshi is, you need to put your feelings aside and see whats right in front of you."

Mako however didn't agree with that statement as he looked to Ms Marvel and Korra. "If you two don't drop this, consider our friendship over."

That ultimatum hit the two girls hard but they both stood by their decision. "Sorry Mako we're not letting this go." Ms Marvel said with conviction.

"She's right, Hiroshi is not the man you think he is." Korra agreed.

"Mako when we see a situation heading south we just can't ignore it." Captain America said with his hand on the young mans shoulder. "Believe me there were times I wish we could. But you lead your team in the tournament and you trusted their instincts as I've come to trust in my own team no matter how accusing or unsupported."

Mako just closed his eyes and walked away. "Whatever." He said as he went to join Asami as they walked away. Korra gave off a sigh of regret.

"That went well." Ms Marvel said saddened.

"Hey, Cap, Nat thanks for sticking up for us." Korra thanked the two Avengers.

"Its okay Korra, Mako and Asami can't accept the truth of whats going on, at least not right now." Cap assured her. "Sometimes people don't want to know who a person really is on the inside."

"Great but even if by some miracle some proof did appear, who would believe it?" Korra questioned.

"Hey don't worry, we'll figure this out we always do." Ms Marvel said to her friend. The Avatar couldn't help but smile at the young polymorphs optimism, and neither could Black Widow.

However unbeknownst to them, a Future Industries employee was closing the shutters of the warehouse. He briefly looked at the group.

While Cap, Thor and Widow were talking to Tenzin and Lin about what to do next, Ms Marvel and Korra were petting the employee was coming towards them. Out of the corner of his eye Hawkeye noticed the employee approaching Korra.

Just then Korra felt something in her right hand, she looked and saw it was a folded piece of paper. "What is it Korra?" Ms Marvel asked. But Korra simply looked around for anyone who could've given her this note. However all she saw were workers leaving the area in trucks.

"What have you got?" Hawkeye said which made Korra jump in surprise, but none the less she opened the note, and what she saw made her eyes widen in surprise.

Ms Marvel and Hawkeye looked as well with equal surprise. "Guys." He called getting the other Avengers, Lin and Tenzin's attention.

"You might want to hear this." Korra said as she read the note. ""If you want to find the truth, meet me under the north end of the Silk Road Bridge at midnight."

"What time is it now?" Black Widow asked. Hawkeye looked at his watch on his left wrist but he just adjusted it.

"You know the worst part of traveling dimensions is always having to reset your watch." He said.

"Uh Barton." Thor pointed and they saw a giant clock not too far from the warehouses, it was currently reading half past eleven at night.

"Oh yeah it's that." Hawkeye said.

---

Silk Road Bridge: Midnight:

Soon a Police Airship was hovering over the Silk Road Bridge, while Korra, Tenzin, Lin, Cap, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Ms Marvel and Hawkeye were walking on the ground under it. The Avengers were on alert with their weapons, hammer and repulsers at the ready in case it was a trap.

" Pst over here." Called a voice, they turned to one of the pillars and saw the same employee dressed in a trench coat and cap. Like something out of a black and white detective film.

"We have come as you asked, what do you have to say?" Thor asked.

"Listen, I joined the Equalists because I believed in what Amon said." The employee said pulling up the collar of his coat in case they were being watched. "I thought he could make life better for us non Benders even those AIM guys I thought maybe they would help us have a voice in all of this. But I didn't sign up for this ...this war." He said turning to them.

"What do you have on Hiroshi Sato?" Lin asked getting straight to the point of this meeting.

"He manufactured those gloves for the Equalists, and he repaired and made new weapons for AIM and that Taskmaster guy from the Arena." The employee said. "He made them from studying his armour from photographs taken by concealed cameras." He said pointing at Iron Man

"Held by Equalists posing as reporters." Black Widow suspected.

"Exactly." The Worker confirmed.

"I knew it!" Korra said confidently.

"So we were right it was MODOK he was talking to!" Ms Marvel realised. This confirmed what Iron Man already knew Hiroshi studied his tech to create those shock gloves, if he wasn't angry before he was now.

"And there are rumors he's working on something even bigger. Some new kind of weapon." The Worker explained further which got the groups full attention.

"Do you have any idea what it is?" Cap asked.

"No like I said all I heard were rumours." The Worker explained.

"But I don't understand we searched all of Future Industries and found nothing." Tenzin raised his hand rather confused since they found no evidence.

However Iron mans face plate lifted up to reveal Tony's eyes widened in realisation. There was only on thing he could take from this. "Unless thats what he wanted us to find." He said in shock getting everyones attention.

"What are you referring to Stark?" Thor asked.

"Okay well think like me only pretend your a secret anti bending supporter while keeping up an appearance of a bending supporter but want to keep any 'secret projects' you do in your off time secret what do you do?" Iron Man asked turning to everyone.

"Keep them hidden to avoid suspicion." Lin answered.

"Your close Lin, but think about it since Hiroshi doesn't want it getting out that he's an Equalist while the investigation was going on he'd want make sure no evidence was there." He explained. "So what do you do? Keep it off company records so employees don't get suspicious."

"While at the same time moving assets to a secret location!" Ms Marvel realised. "Totally AIM'S style!"

"Tony how do you know this?" Korra asked.

"Because kid, it's exactly what I did when I made the mark II Iron Man suit since I couldn't risk it falling in the wrong hands." He explained.

"He's right about that." The worker then said getting their attention again. "he has a secret he builds the weapons and where AIM oversees the assembly and dispersement."

"Where?" Korra asked determined. But the answer came as a shock.

"It's right underneath the Sato Mansion." The Worker answered which put a dramatic look of shock on everyone's faces. While Ms Marvel just slapped her head in realisation. Just as the worker disappeared into the night.

"OH OF COURSE! Its always the last place we'd think to look!" Ms Marvel exclaimed. "Classic villain!"

"Crafty son of a bitch, the one place that would never draw suspicion and no one to disturb him." Iron Man realised.

"Hiding in plain sight." Black Widow realised.

"Then its pretty clear what we need to do now, if Amon gets this new weapon it could mean disaster for the city." Cap realised.

"Agreed, I'll assemble a raiding squad." Lin agreed and went to assemble her officers.

Captain America then turned to Black Widow. "Nat you better go get The Hulk, I have a feeling we'll need him for some smashing."

"On it." Nat said as she went to get the Quinjet.

---

Moments later:

Soon everyone was assembled aboard a police airship that was on course for the Sato Estate. Korra sat on the benches rather nervous, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't looking forward to confronting her friends again with this latest , Lin and Cap stood at the front of the ship over looking the city.

"Raiding the Sato Mansion is a risky move with Tarrlok breathing down your neck. If we're wrong …" Tenzin realised.

"I know. I can kiss my job goodbye." Lin understood the consequences if this comes to nothing. "But protecting Republic City is all I care about. We can't let Amon get his hands on this new weapon." She said with a determined look.

Just the she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked to see it was Captain America. "Your doing the right thing Lin, and no matter what happens were all with you." He said.

"Yeah and even if we are wrong I'll personally smash Tarrlok's head in if he tries to fire you!" Hulk said smashing his fists.

"I'd actually be glad to help you Hulk, from what you all told me this Tarrlok is a man who would take advantage of anything or anyone to fuel his personal paranoia and strife for power." Thor agreed.

"My thoughts exactly God of Thunder." Tenzin agreed.

"Well hopefully it won't come to that." Lin said chuckling. They all looked forward and saw the Sato Mansion hone into view.

As Ms Marvel looked down on the large building she just prayed they were doing the right thing, Nat placed her hand on her shoulder for comfort. However the most worried of the group was Iron Man, he knew Hiroshi wasn't the man he thought he was someone he trusted, it was like Obadiah Stane all over again. However the person he was most concerned for was Asami. She was a good person, and didn't know how she would take this latest revelation but what he was most worried about was if Asami did find out how would she respond and which side would she take?

Sato Estate:

In the mansion living room Asami and the Bending Brothers were chilling out. Mako and his girlfriend were reading a magazine while Bolin and Pabu were eating some of the fruit out of the fruit bowl. Smooth jazz was playing on the radio.

Suddenly bursting through the doors were the Metalbending police officers soon followed by Lin, Tenzin, Korra and The Avengers. Bolin was so surprised he raised his hands up.

Asami was both surprised and angry, she knew why they were here and was getting tire of this. "What are you doing here?"

Lin stepped forward to answer that question. "We have a reason to believe that there's a factory hidden below the mansion."

"I think I would've noticed if there were a factory underneath my house." Asami decided still not believing a single word of this story. " The lies you people come up with just to persecute my father."

"Where is your father?" Tenzin asked.

"In his workshop, behind the house." Asami explained to them.

Suddenly they heard a loud smash they looked behind them and saw it was Hulk who's head had hit the wall over the door. "Ow! Door too small!" Hulk grumbled.

"I'll fix that later." Iron Man offered.

"Would you be able to show us?" Cap asked. Asami just sighed as she stood up from her chair followed by the two brothers.

"Fine lets get this over with." Asami said bitterly as she lead the group to the back of the house. As Korra passed she saw Mako looking at her with a glare still not dropping these accusation.

"Look whatever it is just drop it." Black Widow stepped in telling him and so they headed outside.

Outside behind the mansion there was a small workshop, the officers had the whole area completely surrounded.

Inside the workshop the door was blasted right off its hinges compliments of Iron Man's repulser blast from his left gauntlet.

"You could have simply opened the door?" Tenzin questioned.

"Sorry Tenzin we don't have time for subtlety." Iron Man said simply as he followed by the Metal benders Cap, Tenzin, Black Widow, Ms Marvel, Korra, Thor, Lin and Hawkeye, Hulk just smashed his way through the door with a large hulk shaped hole left behind.

However when they looked around, Hiroshi was nowhere to be seen, nothing but old engines parts and tools. Asami, Mako and Bolin soon entered the room. "Dad? Hello?" She called out but nothing.

Iron Man scanned the room for any sign of life but so far there was nothing. "Sir I am not detecting any signs of life, the workshop appears completely empty." JARVIS reported.

"Thanks for voicing the obvious Jarvis." Iron Man said.

"It is as I said before Stark you would do well to rely on your eyes and ears rather than earth technology." Thor said.

One of the officers then approached Lin. "Chief, the estate's been secured. No one has left the workshop since we arrived."

"Perhaps we just couldn't see him leaving." Lin then realised and Black Widow began to get the idea.

"You thinking a secret exit?" She asked.

"Lets find out." Lin then proceeded to the centre of the room, raised her leg and the sole of her boot retracted revealing her barefoot as she stomped the ground using her seismic sense. She sensed something below her.

"There's a tunnel beneath the workshop running deep into the mountainside." Lin revealed.

"How could you know this Lin?" Thor asked.

"Its her seismic sense its a thing that Earthbenders use, like seeing things with their feet." Ms Marvel explained. "Try and keep up."

"Huh cool." Hulk said impressed though was it really Bruce Banner talking.

Asami however still couldn't believe any of this. Though Bolin was a little surprised while Mako remained unconvinced."What? There's no tunnel." Asami said.

"Jarvis, run a deep structural scan of this place including whats below." Iron Man thats what happened from the hud POV the whole building was scanned as a grid layout. Then the bottom half flashed green indicating what Lin suspected.

"Chief Beifong is correct sir, there is indeed a tunnel underneath this structure, sensors indicate its entrance is three metres to your twelve o'clock." JARVIS said highlighting the entrance close to where Lin was standing.

"Okay so that means there's a way to open it maybe a switch or…" However while Iron Man was talking Hulk simply walked forwards then dug his hands right into the metal floor ripping it from the ground with a grunt and a growl before tossing the metal into the wall which the Metal benders narrowly avoided.

"Or yeah sure we could do that." Iron Man shrugged, they all walked up to the now revealed entrance and saw it was a tunnel. A set of stairs lead down into a metal tunnel, and within a large moving platform.

"No tunnel huh?" Hulk said. Asami was completely confused and bewildered by this discovery. Mako and Bolin were taken aback too.

"Do you think your dad knows about this tunnel?" Bolin whispered to Asami while Widow gave him a subtle glare that said shut up.

"I don't understand. There must be an explanation." Asami said with a breaking heart could it be that her father really was hiding something from her?

"Maybe you don't know everything about your father." Korra said deeply sympathetic to Asami.

"Asami we're so sorry." Ms Marvel agreed equally sympathetic. Iron Man was beginning to feel more and more sorry for the beauteous girl now.

"Officers, into the tunnel. Be cautious." Lin instructed her officers who stood to attention and marched down the stairs into the tunnel.

Asami, Mako and Bolin were about to follow until they were stopped by Captain America. "Hold up you three, your staying here."

"What?!" Asami gasped.

"Cap you can't be serious." Mako exclaimed.

"I'm sorry but we can't endanger you all." Cap said in the most reasonable way.

"The Captain is correct my friends, we know nothing of what await for us in this tunnel." Thor agreed with him. "For facing the unknown is one thing but to endanger others is quite another."

"But.." Asami tried but.

"Asami." She turned to see Iron Man come up to her and lifted his face plate. "I get you want to know whats going on, and I really do hope your dad has nothing to do with this, believe me. But facing the truth about something is never easy sometimes it can be overwhelming something we're not ready for. So until we know anything for sure you and the guys need to stay put okay."

Asami wasn't sure about this but the tone in the Iron Avengers voice told him he meant it. "Okay." she said.

"Officer Song, keep an eye on them." Lin then ordered one of her officers and he saluted her.

With that Iron Mans faceplate lowered on his face as he and the other Avengers proceeded into the tunnel followed by Lin, Tenzin, Korra and Ms Marvel.

Korra stopped on the stairs for a moment to look back at her three friends, who looked greatly worried. While Mako just looked away with genuine guilt in his eyes, Korra was telling the truth all along but he refused to listen and now they had proof of Hiroshi's possible involvement with the enemy. He honestly didn't know what to say.

"I'm sorry." Korra said silently as Ms Marvel waited for her with her own look of guilt and they headed into the tunnel.

Once aboard the platform they descended into the tunnel below. Korra looked down from the railings still in guilt. Soon they came to a stop at the end of the line. Hawkeye and Widow stepped forward with their signature weapons at the ready they walked up the gangway until Widow motioned her hand telling everyone it was clear to proceed.

The Metal benders lead by Lin and Captain America headed towards the light at the platform, when they emerged they saw before them a large factory complex with propaganda posters of Amon hanging from the ceiling. Everyone proceeded forwards and Hulk looked up at the giant posters.

"Humph! He looks even uglier on a poster." He said. Everyone looked around and lining the walls were what appeared to be steampunk style mech suits with three pointed grab hands and on tank tracks. However the weaponry on the arms and shoulders seem to be modern-day missile launchers and pulse blasters.

"Not your average backyard workshop." Lin observed as Korra, Ms Marvel, Cap and Iron Man headed over to the Mecca tanks.

"And I'm guessing those are the new weapons." Korra guessed looking up at the weapons.

"Mecha tanks. But they don't look very Steampunk Iron Man like?" Ms Marvel wondered.

"Maybe not Kamala, but I gotta admit this is quality workmanship not as good as my tech but still pretty impressive." Iron Man said partially admiring the mecca tanks.

"Maybe but those weapons look like they don't belong in this world or even era." Cap said looking at their armaments.

"Because their not, with AIM supplying the plans coupled with the left over tech from that base in Siberia and well heres the result." Iron Man said as his hud compared the Mecha tanks schematics to weapons he'd seen before be it AIM or otherwise. "Ah terrific this is based off old tech I sold to the military years ago!" He said sarcastically annoyed.

"Who cares just tell me if I get to smash them!" Hulk said waiting to hit something.

"I would not be so quick for brute force." Thor said. "Because there's one thing we have over looked….why isn't the architect of these technological terrors here?"

The prince of Asgard was more correct than he realised, everyone knew Hiroshi had deceived them but it didn't seem like him to leave his weapons unprotected.

"He's right Hiroshi was lying to us but where is he?" Tenzin wondered.

As everyone looked around for the inventor. SLAM! A large metal door shut behind them separating them from the were in total darkness.

"Why do I get the feeling we were expected!" Black Widow suddenly realised.

Meanwhile:

The slam echoed through the tunnel all the way back to the entrance where Mako and the others were waiting. "What was that?" Bolin asked surprised.

"We need to get down there and see what's going on." Mako said to his brother.

"Absolutely not." Officer Song said as the kids turned to him. "You're staying put until the chief and Captain Rogers comes back."

However the Bending brothers knew they couldn't sit back and do nothing. Their friends who saved them could be in trouble, it was time they returned the favour. So as the brothers shared a look they hatched a plan.

"All right, we'll stay put. But could we wait outside or something? It's so dusty in this workshop." Mako said in an understanding way. While scratching his nose.

"No! We're waiting right here!" Officer Song said rather strictly.

"Okay, but don't blame me if I start sne-" Mako looked and acted like he was going to sneeze all the while Bolin was sliding his foot across the floor. "if I start sn-sn-sneez-" Mako continued fake sneezing.

Song was just confused just what was going on with this kid? "What's your problem, bub?" He asked in genuine concern but he wasn't ready for what happened next.

"I'm about to…" Mako said as he reared back and. "ACHOOO!" He sneezed a fire blast from his nose startling Officer Song so much he didn't see Bolin bend the ground below him as a block rose and tripped him up to the ground, while Bolin slammed onto him pining him down.

Seconds later Song was tied and gagged to a barrel in the workshop while Mako, Bolin and Asami looked down on him.

"Sorry pal, we know you were just doing your job." Mako said to him.

"Yeah, just stay put until the chief comes back. That's sounds very familiar doesn't it, why?" Bolin said to him. "Because you said it."

Bolin and Mako headed down towards the tunnel, but before Asami could join them her boyfriend grabbed her shoulders to stop her from following.

"Asami, you should stay here. We'll check it out." Mako said to her.

"I have to find out the truth about my father." Asami replied with a mixture of determination and confusion.

"I understand. That's why I'm going down, to find out for you." The Firebender assured. "Besides Tony's right we don't know what we'll find out and the last thing I want if for you to learn something your not prepared for. Please." He insisted.

Asami could see the look in Mako's eyes that told her this was serious, with a sigh she had to admit he was right. "All right." She admitted. As Bolin headed down the stairs he pressed a button on the control panel that called the platform back up to them. "Be careful." She said to Mako who looked back to her before descending into the tunnel.

She was left clasping her hands greatly worried and uncertain. Just what were her friends going to find? Just what was her father doing, she had so many questions racing through her mind. However she knew she couldn't sit back and do nothing.

---

Meanwhile:

Back in the secret workshop Lin attempted to bend the metal wall that trapped her, her officers, Tenzin, Korra and The the metal didn't move at all.

This took Lin by surprise. There was more to come. "I'm afraid you won't be able to metalbend that wall, Chief Beifong." Called a voice echoing through the workshop. Then suddenly green lights lit up around the workshop. "It's solid platinum."

"Its Hiroshi!" Ms Marvel exclaimed.

"Where's that coming from?" Hawkeye said readying his bow and arrows.

"Heh it'll take more than platinum to stop Hulk!" Hulk growled as he charged at the door and slammed his fists right into the wall, however while it dented it suddenly a massive surge of energy struck the Hulk causing him to roar in pain and it blasted him across the room and crashed to the floor.

"Hulk!" Ms Marvel exclaimed and ran to him luckily the gamma giant shook it off instantly.

"A good try, but I'm afraid brute force won't help you this time monster!" Hiroshi's voice said. "The platinum is energised with enough energy to repel even you." Hulk just growled in anger as that shock seriously hit his anger button.

"Enough hiding! Show yourself coward!" Thor called out with his hammer at the ready.

Suddenly the sound of steam and clanking metal sounded loudly, as one by one the Mecha Tanks came to life and moved to surround their prey like a pack of lions.

"Oh and in case you were wondering my Mecha Tanks are Platinum too." Hiroshi said from the cockpit of one of these robotic machines. "Not even your renowned mother could bend a metal so pure."

"Hiroshi! So you are the one behind AIM and Amons new weapons!" Ms Marvel explained.

"I knew you were a lying, no good Equalist!" Korra exclaimed angrily pointing at him. "Come out here and…"

"And do what, young Avatar?" Hiroshi asked tauntingly. "Face the wrath of your bending or your so called mighty alleys. No. I think I'll fight from inside here where my odds are a little more ... equal."

"You have a funny idea of equal Hiroshi!" Iron Man exclaimed to him. "Haven't you seen what Amon has been doing with what you've created your contributing to a psychopath!"

"No I am contributing to the future Tony! The benders have ruined this world, war after war, and so many people lost! No more! The world is changing and it has no need for the Benders anymore not after all they've done!"

"We understand you lost your wife Hiroshi, but that does not give you the right to kill an entire race for the sins of one!" Thor exclaimed.

"What would Asami think about all this how do you think she'll react when she finds out her fathers become a terrorist!" Iron Man agreed.

That touched a nerve in Hiroshi. "Leave my family out of this Stark! And it's ironic you speak to me of my creations, when look at your own!" He then said. "You once made weapons yet had no idea what they were used for, and when you did you rid the world of them. Yet here you are now in your best weapon ever. A man who wants to rid the world of weapons becomes the weapon!"

Tony scowled behind his face plate. "Hey while we're on the subject of weapons Hiroshi, I doubt those weapons on you overgrown tin openers don't look like something you could make!" He said pointing out those weapons. "Which means you had help, so where's your so called partner Georgie boy is he going to grace us with his presence, I mean he is here now right?"

"Clairvoyant Stark, thats a new one!" A new voice bellowed from the darkness and then emerging from the shadows much to everyones shock and horror, minus The Avengers was MODOK himself.

"Steve….Wha…who or what is that!" Lin stuttered in utter shock.

"That…is MODOK, the leader of AIM." Cap said glaring at the one who held him captive on ice for five years.

"Greetings Avengers! So glad you could join us." MODOK greeted with his sadistic wide smile on his giant head.

"Th..thats MODOK!" Korra breathed in surprise. "Wow he's even more uglier than you said Kamala."

"Thats an understatement." Ms Marvel glared at said villain.

"What is wrong with his face!" Tenzin stuttered in shock, he'd never seen anything like this.

MODOK looked down on the Avengers, and benders present and he took notice of one particular individual. Namely the Avatar in the room.

"Ah Avatar Korra, we meet at last, allow me to introduce myself I am MODOK, as in Mental Mobile Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing." He greeted with a sadistic smile as he looked down on Korra. "Amon has told me a great deal about you, the ability to wield the four elements is a remarkable ability, yet like Inhumans, Benders are a flaw and unpredictable and need to be cleansed!"

"Heh your one to talk, you know for such a hater on Benders and Inhumans, you look a little Inhuman yourself! Hypocrisy much?" Korra pointed at him.

"Ooo good one." Hawkeye smirked at Korra's remark.

"Thanks." Korra said.

"Ah a fiery one, I maybe what I hate but I'm not a fanatic." MODOK Smirked. "Like the Avengers you stand against the tide of progress but now your interference ends tonight!"

It was then Lin realised what this was all about. "That source was a set-up! You lured us down here!" She exclaimed.

"Guilty as charged my dear!" MODOK acknowledged. "Now Hiroshi destroy them!"

"My pleasure!" Hiroshi exclaimed as his Mecha Tanks closed in on their prey.

Everyone stood ready, Hawkeye readied his bow, Cap his shield, Black Widow readied her wrist blasters, Thor readied his hammer which surged with lightning, Ms Marvel enlagrged her hands while, Korra, Tenzin, Lin and the officers readied their respective bending stances.

"This is where the fun begins." Tony said as the face plate on his armour closed ready for battle.

Hiroshi attacked first thrusting his Mecha Tanks clawed hand forwards firing its grapple claw to capture them. "Scatter!" Cap yelled and everyone dispersed as the grapple claw hit the ground.

Another Mecha Tank attacks the metal bending cops who are swift to avoid the attacks. The cops act quickly firing their cables to try and restrain the Mecha Tanks arms holding it back. Then suddenly crashing in from the side was the Hulk who ramed it into the ground and smashed its chest with his bare fists ripping off its arms and tossing it into another Mecha Tank that approached.

"If there's one think I like smashing more than anything….ITS ROBOTS!" He roared as he leaped up and crashed down on the mecha tank he impaled with another arm.

Leaving the cops completely amazed by this green beasts might. However they were suddenly attacked by another Mecha Tank luckily two officers used their cables to restrain its arms.

Iron Man was being fired upon by the Mecha Tanks pulse blasters as he flew in the air and fired repulser blasts down on them. However whilst it hurt the metal it didn't quite make a dent. He then dived down and hit the Mecha tank in the chest before firing a unibeam dead on knocking it down. Another Mecha tank attacks from behind blasting him with a missile.

"Gah thats low!" He said but then his hud scanner revealed a possible weak point on the Mecha Tanks back. "That looks important!" He fired his jets and blasted underneath the Mecha then leaped up and latched onto its back before he punched a hole right through the tank on its back, hot steam emerged from it as well as electrical sparks. It exploded and the tank was rendered powerless.

"Team aim for the packs on their backs its a weak spot!" Iron Man called to his team.

---

"Got it Stark!" Hawkeye acknowledged while he dodged another grapple claw attack from a Mecha tank. He slide down on the floor and fired an arrow which hit the Mecha Tank cockpit and some vital controls. The arrow unleashed a surge of electricity which shocked the Equalist inside it knocking him out.

---

Another Mecha tank attempted an attack on the archer, but Lin earth bent the ground below her forming a pillar. Leaping into the air and unsheathed the blades in her gauntlets. Striking the cockpit's glass trying to strike the AIM agent inside forcing him to reverse the Mecha Tank into some of the scaffolding on the right wall.

Captain America dodged the incoming attacks from the Mecha Tanks cable claw attacks he throws his shield forwards and it curves round and slices the cable clean off. But the tank fires a missile from its shoulder launcher, Cap timed his movements and as he leaped up to grab his shield he swats it into the incoming missile as it flew out of control and hit one of the other Mecha tanks that was about to attack Tenzin.

---

A Mecha Tank fires constant pulse blasts towards Black Widow who runs at a fast pace firing her stinger blasters at the tanks. To no avail as the bullets deflected straight off the metal. She quickly leaped in the air to avoid a grapple claw strike ran along the cable and attached a small device to the back of the Mecha Tank.

The device beeped and it exploded destroying the tanks power source as it tumbled to the ground. Another Mecha Tank was about to attack when zooming past her head a certain hammer struck it in the chest with a rather large hole before it returned to its owner Thor.

"Nice shot." Black Widow smirked.

Thor smirked back in response when suddenly a claw grabbed him and it suddenly surged electricity straight through him. However this was nothing to the god of thunder who simply raised his hammer in the air and above ground the skys turned clouded and thunder struck down from the sky blasting through the ground close to the workshop.

"You try and use electricity against me fool! I will show you THUNDER!" He surged the thunder through his hammer and unleashed it upon the Mecha Tank which shocked it so much it was blasted into a nearby wall rendered to melted platinum.

He then turned his thunder on another approaching tank charging forwards and striking an uppercut from his hammer.

---

In his Mecha Tank Hiroshi was glaring at his opponent which was Korra. She threw several fire punches at his tank to no avail as they flew clean off. The Mecha Tank was about to strike her down when suddenly.

"EMBIGGEN!" Ms Marvel leaped in and threw her giant fist right at the tank knocking him back. Korra then grabbed her free wrist and twirled the polymorph round and round with her enlarged fist making strike after strike on Sato's mech.

Having enough Sato fired a pulse blast from his mechatank which hit Ms Marvel dead in the chest sending her flying to the ground.

"KAMALA!" Korra cried. She turned glaring at Hiroshi. "You just made a big mistake!"

Hiroshi was about to attack but then a blast of air forced him back. Korra looked and it was from Tenzin who fired air blast after air blast at the Mecha Tank. Usually he was against fighting but when his pupil was in trouble he would protect her. As he blasted forwards with an air blast from his hands.

The Metalbender officers fought to try and hold the restrained Mecha tank at bay. The cables and wheels on their armours backs were burning like crazy. Suddenly the mechatank closed its claws and sent an electric blast shocking the Metalbenders releasing their cables as they fell to the ground with steam pouring off them.

The AIM agent in the mecha Tank was closing in on its prey when suddenly flying in was a certain shield that sliced the back of the mech causing it to explode. Cap ran towards the Mecca retrieved his shield, leaped up onto the cockpit and smashed the glass in on the window which also hit the controls destroying them. The Mecha Tank collapsed to the ground and Cap hurried to the injured officers.

"You men alright?" He asked trying to see if they were still alive, luckily when the super soldier checked for a pulse there was one.

However he heard a grunt from nearby. Cap turned and saw Lin had been caught by a Mecha Tanks claw slammed into the beam and flung across the room and hit the ground.

"LIN!"Cap cried as he ran to her. The Mecha Tank now had Captain America as its target. It was about to fire when suddenly it was grabbed by the shoulder and turned round to face The Hulk.

"Hello there!" Hulk smirked before he roared and tore the Mecha giants arm right from its socket before he then thrusted his fist right through the mechs chest causing the Equalist inside to eject.

Cap hurried over to Lin and held her in his arms. "Lin! Lin! Are you okay!?"

His answer came in the sound of groaning relieved to hear she was okay. Korra and Tenzin kept blasting at Hiroshi. While Iron Man was being blasted back by another Mecha Tank firing pulse blasts at him which he was able to dodge forcing him to the ground. He knew this had to end now.

"EVERYONE DOWN!" Iron Man called to them he crossed his arms and red lights emerged from the top of his gauntlets and with one twirl the red lights were lasers which cut down the remaining Mecha Tanks literally in half. This included Hiroshi's Mecha Tank.

Korra and Tenzin were relieved that they managed to end the Mecha Tanks. "Whew I believe you should lead with that next time Tony."

"Yeah sorry Tenzin thats a one shot wonder." Iron Man said as his lasers were completely drained.

Hulk kicked the rest of the Mecha Tank across the room. "Heh too easy!" Hulk smirked. Ms Marvel groaned as she got up from the ground with support from Black Widow.

Hiroshi emerged from his Mecha Tank or what was left of it as he looked to his enemies and MODOK hovered next to him. Thor and the other Avengers look to their foes.

"HA IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO!" Thor yelled.

MODOK smirked as the gem in his forehead glowed, and then the rear wall lifted up and emerging from it were even more Mecha Tanks heavily armed with large looking shield pads, and guided missile the worst surprise was yet to come for then from the sound of stomping metal was a very large looking machine with four legs and a large looking black and yellow body.

The Avengers, Tenzin, and Korra looked in absolute horror, the heroes more than most. This was an AIM War Bot.

"You just had to say something didn't you." Korra said to Thor.

"As if I would build more than a few Mecha Tanks. AIM is nothing without more ideas to engineer." Hiroshi smirked.

Hulk just growled he'd had just about enough of this guy. He let out a large roar as he lunged towards the War Bot ready to smash it when suddenly the front of it opened and revealed a large cannon which fired upon the Hulk and blasted him right into the wall constantly firing on him. Until finally he fell to the ground, he tried to get up but fell unconscious as he reverted to Bruce Banner.

"HULK!" Ms Marvel yelled.

"Take that machine down!" Captain America exclaimed. Thor's hammer surged with energy as he lunged at the War bot while Iron Man targeted the weak points from his hud and fired missiles from his shoulder missiles however the War Bot erected a shield around itself deflecting the missiles. Thor slashed his hammer bringing down the thunder yet it did no damage. All of a sudden something hit Thor across the chest he looked and saw it was a hammer that looked a little like his own. He looked in front of him and to his horror it was an Adaptoid.

"Is that an Adaptoid!" Ms Marvel exclaimed.

"Yeah the same one we fought when Monica was using that cosmic cube!" Hawkeye exclaimed recognising the Adaptoid.

It had the makings of Caps shield, Iron Mans helmet, Thors hammer and Cape, and the Hulks strength followed by Black Widow's agility. It thrusted towards Thor with its booster jets and rammed straight into Thor who fought back with his hammer.

"Soulless machine! How dare you attack the son of Odin!" The two of them clashed but the Avenger Adaptoid blasted the God of Thunder right through the ceiling and went after him to continue their battle.

In the air Iron Man continued to avoid incoming attacks from the War Bot in the air when suddenly one of the Mecha Tanks raised the pad on its right arm and fired a sound blast at Iron Man hitting him dead on distorting his sensors. "GAH!" He cried.

Then another tank fired a bola from its left claw and it tied up the armoured Avenger and gave him an electric shock which shorted out all his armour systems. He fell to the ground.

"Tony!" Cap exclaimed.

"I have him Steven!" Tenzin quickly bent some air to cushion his fall, Widow and Korra then charged at the Mecha Tanks, Korra bent the earth below Widow's feet catapulting her in the air and she pulled out her pistols and fired them at the back of the suits power supply destroying it. However another Mecha Tank grabbed her in its grapple and flung her right into the pipes in the room.

"Nat!" Korra exclaimed Hawkeye and Ms Marvel followed by Cap charged at the Mecca tanks.

Ms Marvel enlarged to super size and swatted away the Mecha tanks with the palm of her hand like flies and a swatter. However as she was ready to crush the war bot with her fists she was suddenly blasted in the back by an energy blast caused by MODOK. His head gem was glowing and continued to blast her Ms Marvel blocked the blast with her enlarged hand but it was burning her. Not to mention she was starting to feel dizzy.

"Oh no no not now!" Ms Marvel felt dizzy and MODOK smirked sinisterly as with one last blast he catapulted the polymorph straight to the ground as she reverted back to her normal size.

"NO!" Korra called which tripped a nerve in her she unleashes her fire fists upon MODOK who simply formed a shield around himself. Then fired missiles from the side of his chair. Korra was quick to dodge them but one blast got her from behind.

"Korra!" Tenzin cried and quickly air bent the air around Korra to cushion her fall. Tenzin, Cap and Hawkeye were the last ones standing. Tenzin unleashed a massive air blast pushing the Mecha Suits back which left them open. Hawkeye fired arrow after arrow at the mecha tanks one arrow sent out an electric shock shorting out the controls and knocking out the AIM agent inside, while another trapped it in a goo like substance.

However as he went for his arrows he noticed his quiver was empty. And now he was faced with one last Mecha Tank which had its claw aimed right at him.

"Ah nerts!" He grimaced as the tank fired an pulse blast from its blaster and knocked the archer to the ground knocking unconscious.

Tenzin continues to fight of the other Mecha tanks as he created an air wheel to avoid any incoming attacks from pulse blasts and missiles from the shoulder mounts. Suddenly one Mecha suit fires a bola with high tech shock discs attached to it ensuring Tenzin crying out in pain as electricity surge through him. Landing on the ground and unconscious.

Captain America was the only one left as he faced down MODOK and three Mecha tanks armed with large sound blasting shields.

"It seems your very outnumbered Captain." MODOK smirked.

However though outnumbered this soldier wasn't one to go down without a fight. He charged right at the Mecha Tanks only for all three of them to fire sound blasts towards him. Cap quickly blocked the attack with his shield absorbing the blasts, then slamming the shield into the ground releasing a massive shock wave from the Vibranium within knocking the tanks back.

He looked up but suddenly was ensnared by another electro bola shocking him with electricity until finally the last Avenger fell to the ground defeated. With his shield next to him.

Hiroshi and MODOK observed the battle field at the number of destroyed Mecha tanks, the fallen Avengers, Avatar, chief of police her officers and air bending master all lying on the ground.

"Well, despite the loss of a few Mecha Tanks I'd say that was a near flawless test run."Hiroshi smirked.

"The loss of those tanks was necessary, in order to make them believe they had won." MODOK explained. "For if I know anything about the Avengers is their pride becomes their downfall."

Hiroshi had to smirk in agreement. "Load everyone into the transports and deliver them to Amon!" Hiroshi then told the Equalists and AIM Agents who disembarked from their Mecha tanks.

Hiroshi then looked over the now helpless Iron Man from above. "You know Tony that suit of yours really is impressive, just imagine what I could accomplish with what I learn from it."

Despite his suit rendered useless Tony wasn't about to give in yet. "Heh if you think your getting this suit off of me your going to have to pry it from my cold dead body!"

Hiroshi just smirked as he was handed a small circular tool by one of the AIM Agents. "Well that is the idea, it doesn't have to be like this Tony, we're both innovators we could do so much together, partners even."

Tony could only spit at that from inside his helmet. "Go to hell!" Suddenly he felt pain in his chest like something was shoved into it. He looked and saw Hiroshi had place the tool he was given right into where his arc reactor was.

"Oh no my dear boy." Hiroshi smirked as he twisted the tool and slowly removed the reactor from his chest. "That would be you." With one pull it was fully disconnected and Tony could feel his heart was hurting and he was feeling weak. He was slowly dying.

"A source of perpetual energy, how fascinating." Hiroshi smirked as he placed the reactor into his coat pocket.

Fortunately for our heroes help was at hand. A hole erupted from the floor of the workshop, and popping out of it were Mako and Bolin.

"Oh no." Bolin said in horror as he and his brother looked around. They saw the Metalbening officers being tied up and thrown into vans by Equalists and armed AIM Agents with rifles. They also saw The Avengers, Korra, Tenzin and Lin completely unconscious.

"Korra and Kamala were right!" Mako realised in horror. "We gotta do something, quick!" He said to his brother.

While the Chi Blockers and AIM Agents were occupied loading the officers into the trucks. Mako and Bolin snuck around the pipings and walls of the workshop. They looked to their unconscious friends and saw Cap was moving. Mako immediately hurried to him and used his fire bending to make a dagger to cut him out of the restraints.

"Cap! Steve are you okay?" Mako whispered as slowly Cap regained consciousness.

"Its okay back in Brooklyn I took harder hits than that." He smiled much to Makos relief.

"Can you stand?" Mako asked.

"Yeah I'll be fine, we gotta move fast." Cap answered quietly and they set to work.

Cap went to Lin and Nat and picked them up throwing their arms over his shoulder. Mako went to Korra and Ms Marvel and picked them up in a similar fashion. While Bolin went and pulled up Bruce who was still knocked out and as he went to pick up Tenzin.

"Not so fast, boys." They looked to see they had been spotted by Hiroshi, the Lieutenant and Task Master. Hiroshi was armed with two shock gloves while Task Master had his sword and shield and the Lieutenant had his electro batons.

"Well well well what do we have here." The boys then looked to a horrifying sight that was MODOK hovering over them with weapons trained on them. "More meddling Benders."

"O…kay thats too disturbing for words, but uh hey big headed guy and uh Mr. Sato." Bolin said a little nervously. "Wow! What a really swell, scary factory you have here under your giant mansion. With all these uh weapons and AIM guys."

Mako however just glared angrily at Hiroshi Sato. "Sponsoring our team, supporting the Avatar and The Avengers. It was all just a big cover."

"Yes, and the most difficult part was watching my daughter traipse around with a firebending street rat like you!" Hiroshi exclaimed with hatred as his gloves sparked with power.

Mako just glared at him angrily for saying those words, it really touched a nerve. He trusted him but all this time he was playing him, his brother, friends and even his own daughter.

Hiroshi, the Lieutenant and Task Master slowly approached with the intent of capturing them.

"Dad, stop!" Hiroshi turned and found his daughter standing behind him looking at him in sadness, seeing all around her what he was really doing. She didn't want to believe it but the proof stood before her. "Why?" She asked nearly in tears.

Hiroshi looked ashamed of himself "Sweetie, I wanted to keep you out of this as long as I could." He tried. Korra and Ms Marvel started to regain consciousness and saw what was going on. Iron Man used what strength he had left to try and crawl along the floor and sit upwards.

"But now you know the truth, please, forgive me." Hiroshi continued trying to explain himself, while his daughters eyes shook in horror. "These people, these benders." He pointed to, Korra, Mako, Bolin,Lin and Tenzin. "They took away your mother, the love of my life. They've ruined the world, and these so called Avengers traitors to their own kind help them in their destruction! But with Amon we can fix it and build a perfect world together. We can help people like us, everywhere!"

"No!" Groaned Iron Man using what strength he had to try and stand up but ended up on one knee as he had a heart attack. "Gah! Asami don't listen to him, you've seen what Amon and MODOK are doing this isn't about Equality they're contemplating genocide! We can't condemn an entire race for the sins of a few!" Suddenly he was blasted to the ground by MODOKS laser.

"Idealistic as always Stark you call it genocide but I call it a rebirth, much like Inhumanity, bending is a blight on this or any earth!" MODOK exclaimed.

Iron Man groaned and struggled to breath. "Heh the fact you call it a blight is the reason you'll never understand!"

"Save your breath Stark, for what little time you have left on that injured heart of yours." Hiroshi scoffed, Asami gasped in horror she could see that Tony's arc reactor was missing which means her father must have taken it, the very thing keeping him alive.

Hiroshi turned back to his daughter. "This is what I am talking about these people don't understand, only we can make things right." He then took off the shock glove on his right hand and offered it to his daughter. "Join me, Asami."

Asami looked with uncertainty and conflict in her eyes, she edged forwards and reached out practically trebling to take the glove from her father. The Fire Ferrets and Avengers looked in sadness and shock as she slipped the glove onto her hand. It seemed like she'd chose her side.

"No!" Mako breathed in disbelief.

"Asami." Iron Man breathed in horror.

However… "I love you, Dad." Out of nowhere Asami shocked her father with the shock glove until he fell unconscious to the ground. The Lieutenant tried to attack but she kicked away one of his batons then pulled the other one and shocked him with his own weapon. He fell to the ground in an instant.

However suddenly she was kicked in the back and knocked to the ground by Task Master who was still standing. "Big mistake kid."

Asami tried to get up and just then she saw a certain shield across from her. As Task Master fired his pistol at her it was blocked as she held the shield in front of her. She stood up and stood with the shield in a fighting stance.

"Hah and they say I'm crazy, you think wielding that shield makes you some kind of Avenger?!" Task Master said as he charged at her.

He swung his sword at the beauteous girl who blocked his attacks with the shield and then threw a round house kick towards him which he blocked, he then slid around the shield and tried to pull it away but she flipped over and kicked him in the back.

Task Master extended the claws in his gloves and flipped over her with the agility of a panther but Asami was quick and threw the shield exactly the way that Cap did which bounced off the piping and hit any AIM agents that were approaching. Task Master then dodged the shield with a Spider-Man style side flip.

"Nice try kid but…" Suddenly he was electrocuted by Asami's shock glove until he fell to the ground before the shield returned to her and she knocked him out with the edge of it.

"Huh what do you know it does pack a punch." Asami said impressed. "And guess what your not the only fast learner."

Korra, Ms Marvel, and Makos jaws dropped like anvils they couldn't believed what they had just seen. It was all a ruse. "Seriously kid don't let that one go." Hawkeye whispered to Mako.

Just then a loud gasp for air got everyones attention they looked and saw it was Iron Man fading from life. "Tony!" Asami exclaimed, Bruce and Cap hurried over to him and rolled him on his back. Cap removed the face plate to see that Tony's face was as white as a sheep.

"This isn't good we need the arc reactor!" Bruce exclaimed.

Asami acting quickly ran to her unconscious father and searched his coat, until she pulled out of it the arc reactor. She hurried back and quickly inserted it back into his chest piece connecting the wire into his heart and twisting it in place.

"Come on come on please!" Asami panicked. However nothing seemed to happen. "Why isn't it working?!"

"Must be a loose connection." Bruce realised then had a plan. "Asami listen to me you've got to shock him in the heart its the only way to reenergise it."

Asami was hesitant she'd just had to shock her father she didn't dare turn this on her friend. But she saw the life fading from Tony's eyes there was no time.

So twisting the dial on the glove it charged with electricity and with one touch electrocuted the armoured Avenger, which while it hurt shocked the reactor and his heart back into life. Taking that long breath before choking.

"Tony!" Asami gasped as he gasped for air. "Are…are you okay?"

Tony took a moment to breath before he looked to her. "Yeah….yeah kid…I'm okay." He said. "Whoever said I just had my heart ripped out was clearly heady tonic." He chuckled. To which Asami did crack a small smile.

"Even near death you crack a joke Tony?" Cap said not very surprised.

"Fools!" Yelled a voice and they looked to see MODOK energising his head gem as his forces and Chi Blockers gathered in their mechs. "You think this is over none of you are leaving here alive!"

The Avengers, Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami gathered together in a group just as Tenzin and Lin regained consciousness. However help was at hand, for as MODOK approached the clashing sound of thunder could be heard, and then crashing through the roof was the Avenger Adaptoid mangled, smashed and crushed by something.

It was then Thor descended from the hole bruised battered and his clothes torn but triumphant. "Your machine was found…wanting foul creature!" He yelled.

Slamming his energised hammer into the ground sending a shock wave that electrocuted and blasted away all the Equalists and Chi Blockers like nothing.

However MODOK wasn't one to go down without a fight and raised his energy shield Thor decided to end this now. "HAVE AT THEE!" He threw his hammer at MODOK and the impact shattered his shield.

Korra quickly used this opening to bend the earth below him shooting a pillar right below his chair sending him flying into the air where Thor then slammed him down with his recently returned hammer with a great *SLAM!*

leaving MODOK unconscious. He landed next to Korra to who he gave a proud smile to which she smiled back. However the AIM War-bot approached the group.

"Asami." Cap said to her. "I'm going to need that back." He referred to his shield which Asami handed back to him and stood next to Thor.

"Looks like it's asking for more." Thor smirked.

"Well its excited." Cap agreed as he raised up his shield. Ms Marvel knew what was coming next.

"Hey guys…if I were you I'd duck right about now!" She suggested much to everyone's confusion.

Suddenly everything happened at once as Cap raised his shield Thor struck it with his hammer and unleashed a loud shock wave which tore right through the war boys legs. Everyone ducked from the seismic force given off by the Vibranium shield and the Ulru made hammer. The war bot collapsed and exploded into flames.

"Whoa…I gotta get me one of those shields." Lin breathed in surprise.

However more of the Mecha tanks and AIM agents approached heavily armed. Cap knew they were outnumbered and in no shape for a fight.

"Avengers! Full retreat!" He ordered.

"This way!" Mako called and lead the group to the hole he and his brother came up in, and everyone leaped down into it before Ms Marvel looked to Hiroshi who was regaining consciousness.

"YOU'RE GONNA GET YOURS HIROSHI! YOU HEAR ME YOU'RE GONNA GET YOURS!" She yelled before jumping into the hold and Bolin sealed it behind them.

Moments later the Police airship was leaving the scene, and on board all present was either wounded or saddened by this shallow victory. Asami looked out the window of the airship back to the mansion she called home, but now she had nothing she was practically in tears.

Tony felt really bad for her, to lose her home and her father all over his lust for revenge was too much even for him to bare.

Up front Lin was lay on the stretcher in the airship, injured and weak. She tried to move but ached from the pain. "My metalbenders are on their way to Amon." She said ashamed. Looking to Tenzin and Cap who were at her bedside.

"I'm sorry Lin, I'm sorry we couldn't save them." Cap said equally ashamed.

"No..Its not your fault. Its mine." Lin finally admitted. "Tarrlok's right, I've failed as chief. First thing in the morning, I'm handing in my resignation."

"What!" Cap breathed in shock.

"No! You can't give up like this!" Tenzin agreed adamantly.

"I'm not giving up." Lin said sitting up but held her side in pain as Cap supported her. "I'm gonna find my officers and take Amon and MODOK down. But I'm gonna do it my way, outside the law."

Tenzin had a look of concern but he knew from experience he couldn't stop Lin from doing what she wanted to do. While Cap had nothing but admiration for her determination.

"You know, you sound a lot like someone I used to know." Cap said to her. "She was a lot like you, determined to do whats right no matter what." To which Lin surprisingly cracked a smile. Cap then handed her a small Avengers ID card. "One soldier can't fight a war alone, if you should ever need us." Lin took the card and looked at it then pressed the A symbol and it activated its communications function.

"Thanks…Cap." She smiled to which Cap smiled in return.

Korra and Ms Marvel now without her mask looked down in sadness. "Listen I'm sorry I didn't believe either of you. But Asami's dad being an Equalist is not an easy thing to believe. Even now." Mako apologised sincerely.

"I know. I'm sorry this whole thing happened." Korra agreed.

"So ... does your offer to live in the Air Temple still stand?" Mako then asked in some hopeful tone. Which did perk Korra up a bit.

"Of course it does." Korra smiled in sympathy.

"Absolutely." Ms Marvel agreed. "and Asami's welcome too."

"Thank you so much." Mako said in then placed a sympathetic hand on his shoulder.

"After everything she's been through, she's going to need you now more than ever Mako." Korra said to him to which he nodded in agreement.

He walked over to Asami only to see Black Widow next to him with a sympathetic look. "Listen I…I know its not easy kid but, if you, your brother or Asami need anyone to talk to. My doors always open." She offered.

Mako gave an understanding smile. "Thanks Natasha."

"Call me Nat." She smiled. Mako then went to Asami placing a hand on her shoulder, she turned round and just cried out into his chest which Mako just hugged her back in return.

Korra and Ms Marvel couldn't help but look in sympathy. "We didn't exactly save the day this time did we." Ms Marvel said saddened as she felt a hand on her shoulder from Thor.

"Do not despair Kamala, we cannot win every battle." Thor said to her. "But tonights revelations have shown just how dangerous AIM and the Equalists have become, they are an enemy that not only fight from the shadows, but martial those shadows against us."

Bruce then came over wearing a sheet to cover himself. "Yeah but what worries me is the presence of an Adaptoid, if there's more than one it could mean trouble."

"Adaptoids? You mean those robots that mimic Inhuman powers, the ones you told me about Kamala?"Korra asked.

"You mean the ones that get their powers through the torture of Inhuman's then yeah." Ms Marvel said in contempt. Then she realised. "Hold on do you think they could adapt Benders abilities?" She then wondered.

"Its possible." Bruce said.

"Hold on Amon wouldn't use these things, its against the Equalists to use benders the people would see them as hypocrites." Korra said.

"Somehow I doubt Amon even knows about them Korra. Which makes me wonder." Bruce said getting their attention. "What does Tarelton hope to achieve, by helping Amon?"

Elsewhere: AIM's hidden base:

"Despite some considerable losses, Hiroshi should be able to rebuild the Mecha Tanks we lost and make repairs to the War-Bots." An AIM scientist told MODOK who hovered in contemplation. "Another twenty Adaptoid's should be ready thanks to his cooperation but is unaware of their purpose."

"Good." MODOK said. "Now what is the current status of Project Rebirth?"

"Proceeding as scheduled within the next few weeks we should be ready to begin, as soon as Amon achieves his objective." The scientist replied. "Adapting the bending to the Adaptoids is much more simpler than Inhumans.

"Excellent, we have set the stage and the players are in place. Amon seeks Equality, but what we have planned will change the face of this and other worlds." MODOK smirked evilly. "The real Endgame is almost here."

Authors Notes: DUN DUN DUN! Now hows that for a cliff hanger folks. Now to make some points as mentioned at the start this story is a mix of the MCU, Avengers Assemble TV series and the PS4 game in case you get the references, plus I thought it would be good if Asami knew some of their origin stories too. Plus Natasha finding proof of Hiroshi's collaboration with AIM, not to mention some modern day armaments to the mecha tanks crossed with some of AIM'S machines.

Now it looks like things for our heroes are going to get from bad to worse, in the next chapter which will come soon. Until then.
