A/N: To the reviewer who in their review took great pains to tell me who Jon's parents really are and the 'BIG' reveal of it in season 6, I actually do know that Jon is Rheagar's and Lyanna's son, I am not thick or stupid, as you seemed to imply. Also, yes I know Catelyn hates Jon so much because he looks like a Stark and therefore Lyanna has to be his mother, well his mother is Lyanna in this story so that is a mute point. I really appreciate it when readers leave reviews but not when they tell me that my story has to be written exactly the same as what the original author had written it, if I did that it would not be 'my' story and it would be taken down by fanfiction admin for being plagiarism.
2nd A/N: Now for those of you who might have read might some of my other stories, you will know that often my stories have a twist to them and quite often that twist is never revealed until the end.
So, think about what the title of this story is, think about Ned's promise to his sister and what she might have told him and some of you might just guess what the twist at the end of this story might be!
After all, the Game of Thrones is just that, a game, where strategy and lies are often as much a part of the story as the characters themselves and sometimes it takes a while for the truth to be revealed...or not!
Now this chapter will not be as long as the last, it will be (hopefully) a cute fluffy less angsty chapter before getting to the business of war!
End of Rant!
Jon gazed at the ball of fur that was curled up on his bed, it fascinated him from the tiny little nose that perked out from where it lay upon its tiny little paws, to the sheer whiteness of it coat. Each of Lord Starks children had been gifted with one of the tiny pups they had found and all were as different from the others as they were also the same. He knew his cousins were considering with great deliberation what names to give their little furry companions but he knew exactly the name he would had given the little bundle of fur on his bed; Ghost.
The name seemed to suit him for some strange reason that Jon could not fathom, but the name had come to his mind as he had held the tiny little runt of the little when they had been found and he had mulled over it in his mind all the way back to Winterfell, so by the time they had all ridden back into the keep, the tiny bundle of fur was Ghost and would always be known by that name to him regardless of whatever name would be given to the tiny pup, by whichever member of the Stark family that claimed him. So it was more than a surprise when Lord Stark had gifted him the pup, telling him in front of all of Robert's court and the king that he was also a Stark as well as a Baratheon.
Robert had seemed pleased that Ned had gifted the pup to Jon but had been loud in his own proclamation that Jon was a Baratheon, first and foremost, but Jon had been watching his uncle when the king had been bellowing his words around the great room, and it had seemed to Jon that there was something was not quite right. His uncles smile when the king had once again proclaimed Jon to be a Baratheon, did not reach his eyes and there seemed to be a sadness in them or perhaps something else, Jon was not entirely sure but he had the impression that perhaps Lord Stark had lied to the king about something, perhaps something about him. He did not know what but he was determined that one day he would find out!
The sound of running footsteps in the hallway outside his door was the only warning that he might soon have company and it was not long before the sound of running feet stopped outside his door. He heard voices, one slightly raised and the other firm but commanding outside the door, just before the door was opened by one of the two kingsguard, that the king had now insisted were to be guarding his first born rather than any of the Winterfell men. Jon would have preferred the men of Winterfell, at least them he trusted, more than the kingsguard, that was standing guard outside his door.
Arya, her arms full of the pup that she had chosen, moved quickly into his room, glaring slightly at Ser Mordan, who had tried to refuse her entrance to Jon's chambers, she did not Ser Mordan, there was something about him that she did not like.
"Jon, have you named your pup?" she asked. "I have decided to mine Nimeria," she told him breathlessly.
Jon glanced back briefly, smiling at the fluffy white ball on the bed next to him, as Arya, sat beside him, depositing her own ball of fur next to his.
"His name is Ghost! he told her.
Arya tipped her head to the side as she gazed thoughtfully at Jon's pup before answering.
"Ghost...Ghost suits him."
Nimeria and Ghost crouched on the bed, regarded the two humans sat beside them for a few moments before getting down to more important things, such as playing tussle with each other!
Another A/N: There you have a little bit of fluff and finally the direwolves are included in this story. I would have uploaded this a lot sooner than I did, but the obnoxious reviewer pissed me off. Anyway hope you all had a good time during this holiday season and I hope you all have a safe and peaceful New Year!
One of the things I hope to do next year, apart from finish this story, (maybe) is to go back and revamp some of the earlier chapters, I know that my spelling and grammar is not perfect but I do the best I can.
