It was another peaceful day in the city, Mobians left and right bustled through their everyday lives in hopes of surviving until the next day.
Amongst the crowds, a young pink hedgehog shouldering heavy grocery bags expertly made her way through the city into her apartment complex. It was often hard enough coming from the supermarket with this many necessities, but being as famous as she was, the young Mobian found simple everyday tasks excruciating when there were men constantly flirting with her or asking for a photograph. Still, knowing she made people safe and happy made the hedgehog willing to accept the fame.
Once she made it up the flight of stairs to the second floor, Amy slowly dropped one of the two bags she was carrying onto the floor so she could reach into her pocket for her keys. The apartment was dark, the same as she had left it, but a simple flip of the wall switch brightened the room again.
After Amy had put all her groceries away, she slumped onto her plush pink sofa and turned on the television. The news was playing, but it was nothing special, just another reminder that the day was peaceful and boring. Nothing else of interest was playing either so Amy switched the T.V. off and started towards the kitchen.
As soon as she opened the fridge though, a distant booming sound exploded in the air which caused the building to shake slightly. She knew who it was.
Quick as a flash, Amy turned the T.V. back on to the news. The male reporter spoke urgently, "Attention! Dr. Eggman has attacked the city again! We are urging all civilians to stay inside and stay alert! Do not venture outside for any means! I repeat; Do not venture outside for any means!" Amy's phone rang as the newscast then showed a video of the crazy mustached man spouting about "world domination" and whatnot.
Amy answered, hearing Tails' voice on the other side. "You saw the news, right?" he asked. "Yeah, but I didn't think he would pull off something so soon", Amy responded. "Well, what are we waiting for? Sonic's already sped off towards Eggman!" Tails exclaimed before hanging up.
He didn't need to tell her twice. Amy quickly armed herself with her trademark hammer and exploded through the front door toward the fray.
It wasn't hard to find the battle; downtown was Eggman's usual target area when on the attack. Still, Amy had to be cautious in case there were badniks around each corner. Luckily, none were in sight, at least none that were functioning.
Sonic's really done a number on these guys.
Another corner turned and Amy found herself face to face with a rather large functioning badnik, the machine's one shining eye glaring in her direction. Readying her hammer, Amy charged forward as the badnik swung its large arms down towards her. Fortunately, the badnik's size made it slow and Amy was able to quickly dodge out of the way of the robot's thick arms.
A sideways swing of the hammer on its leg and Amy successfully knocked the machine down, the eye no longer glowing from the impact to the ground. Letting out a huff of satisfaction, Amy burst her way past the rubble towards the real battle.
Sonic was already on top of the Egg Carrier by the time Amy got there.
Tails was flying the Tornado above them, ready to help the hedgehog out in a pinch.
Knuckles was below them, sending badniks flying with his fists.
Amy could see the echidna was getting outnumbered, so she quickly ran to his side, sending machine after machine flying with her hammer.
"Took you long enough.." Knuckles spat out jokingly. "Would've gotten here sooner if I wasn't so busy living…" Amy joked back with a smile.
Several badniks surrounded the two soon enough and there seemed to be no end in sight. "Getting tired yet?" Amy teased Knuckles. He only grinned excitedly, "Not even a little bit."
The battle kept going well into the night, until finally Eggman called for a retreat.
As the madman flew away, he shouted that he would be back, something Amy had heard many times. The four met up with each other to give the usual commendations. "Nice work up there Tails!" Sonic commented the young fox, "Couldn't have landed safely without you."
Tails grinned widely, "I know. Still it was a great day to stop Eggman again!"
"Yeah, though it could've been a little shorter on time", Knuckles complained.
"I agree, I just got home with groceries when the attack happened. I'm all tuckered out now" Amy nodded.
"Well, tomorrow's another day", Tails reassured her, "Anyway, I gotta get back to the lab so I'll see you guys later."
And with that, Tails hopped into the Tornado and flew off.
"I gotta get back home too" Knuckles stated, "I got a date with my bed tonight". "Same here..." Amy yawned, "What about you Sonic?"
Sonic had his arms folded, lost in thought, "I'm gonna make sure Eggman doesn't try anything again so soon." With that, the hedgehog sped off in the direction of the doctor, leaving Amy and Knuckles to ponder if he would be okay.
After settling into bed with a cup of her special rose tea, Amy turned on the radio, tuning into her favorite station, one that specializes in romantic love songs, being a love fanatic herself. A sweet lullaby-like song was playing, lulling the pink hedgehog to sleep, readying herself for the next day.
But her dreams were anything but sweet. Not scary so much as it was strange. Disembodied voices whispered inaudible things in her ears, and all she could see was forest thick with white fog.

What was there that called her?
Why was it calling her?
Questions arose along with the morning, and Amy woke feeling unwell.
