A love in time 13

A/N: I've read a few past chapters and for anyone smashing this out in 1 sitting just note that I've switched from calling the past kyuubi from Kurama to Kyuubi and vice-versa.

Finding himself standing just off the beaten path, Madara's eyes adjusted to the dark as he noticed a large temple ahead. The last thing he remembered was going to sleep. Looking around, the beaten path was surrounded by a dense forest and the temple was gently lit by torches. Madara's eyes narrowed as he spotted guards walking the perimeter. "Since when did the Holy lands have security?"

"Oh, are you here to see the show?"

Turning around, Madara came face to face with an unfamiliar face. Her thick cloak covered her body but her hood was down exposing her ebony hair and gleaming gold eyes. Although her colouring was different, Madara knew who she was. "Why are you in disguise, Naruto?"

Naruto laughed, it was deep and dangerous. "It's part of the fun." Pulling up her mask, it covered her lips and up to the bridge of her nose. "Aren't you curious about what I'm about to do? Why did you appear here this time?" Walking past him, she whispered teasingly, "I guess you'll have to watch,"

"What?" Turning around, Madara's eyes widened when her fists erupted into a blazing red flame before she went charging towards the temple. "That fool!" Realising what she was doing, Madara ran after her. Though he was a step too late as Naruto took down the guards with ease before slamming into the heavy temple door. Madara stopped as he noticed the smile of delight on Naruto's face as the marble door was quick to crumble then explode under her strength. The cries of the temple workers were slowly being drowned by the wildfire that consumed the temple.

Madara felt like he was possessed as he slowly followed behind Naruto as she attacked anyone that tried to approach her. Her golden eyes seemed to be illuminated by the fire she created that she appeared like a creature of the night. She was quick to dispose of everyone in her way and those that begged her their lives were silenced. It didn't take her long to conquer the temple and her flames reached every inch.

"Found you~" Naruto's singsong tone seemed to echo throughout the Great hall. Her hand broke through the altar and revealed a secret staircase leading underground. "I know you have nowhere to go~" Walking down the stairs without a rush, Naruto could sense two people hiding at the end of the road. "It's an honour to meet you, Great Priestess of Asura," Naruto's eyes landed on the trembling woman hiding in the arms of another. "Oh twins? How interesting," Naruto looked between the similar faces. One filled with fear and the other with anger. Pulling out a seal, Naruto attached it to the walls and activated it before grabbing a chair to sit comfortably before them. "No one will come and no one can leave unless I say so," Folding her legs, Naruto observed the twins carefully.

Their flowing brown hair, docile lilac eyes and porcelain skin made Naruto smile. "Precious twins of Asura, do you know why I am here?"

"Does it matter?!" The one with curly hair spoke up. Her eyes flared in anger, "You're going to kill us either way! Asura-sama will avenge us!"

Naruto laughed, "Asura won't even lift a finger once I lay a finger on you. Not once did he help his people as I killed them and set his home on fire," She taunted them, making the priestess choke on her sobs and the curly head one grow more furious. Naruto liked that look. "He didn't bother to warn his precious priestess that an attack would happen."

"You don't know Asura-sama!" The curly one shouted, holding onto her sister tightly. "Asura-sama will never abandon us! Not even in death!"

Naruto noticed something interesting. Every time Asura was brought up, the priestess seemed to pale more and more. Looking around the room, it was filled with old documents but what interested Naruto the most was the stone tablet Madara was standing in front of. His body language told her that whatever was written on the stone table was important. Getting up, she approached him carefully and scanned the tablet. Kurama wasn't familiar with the writing.

"Asura, a demigod, born into a power-seeking clan. A war-monger so powerful that he was worshipped by his people as the God of War reincarnate. However, despite having half the blood of a God he was still mortal. His desire grew with every successful war that Asura lusted for the forbidden 'immortality'. Using his charisma, Asura swayed the people with his good deeds and his Godly abilities. This was just a ruse to hide his cruel nature. Slaughtering young blood to bathe and extending his diminishing life. The people were blinded by the chaos Asura created in his path for power…." Madara stopped reading, unable to finish the story aloud.

Naruto had recited, word for word, Madara's words to the twins. Looking over her shoulder, the priestess seemed to be on death's door. "When did Asura abandon you?"

"Asura-sama hasn't-" They gasped as a senbon sliced her neck.

Naruto silenced the other twin, a dangerous glow in her eyes as the air began to feel heavy. "I've had enough of you." Bringing her attention back to the priestess, Naruto asked once more, "When?"

"T-twelve y-y-years ago," The priestess finally spoke in a timid voice. It seems her sister didn't know based on her look of surprise and betrayal. "A-Asura-sama said t-to not speak o-of him anymore,"

Madara pulled his gaze away from the stone and looked at Naruto. She looked incredibly tense.

"What do you know about time-walkers?" Remaining composed, Naruto watched the duo carefully. The priestess' guardian was oblivious to what was currently happening.

"Not much," The priestess replied, trying to gather her thoughts as her body trembled. "A-Asura-sama did not like to speak about them. I only k-know that Asura-sama sees t-them as beings w-who deliver karma,"

"How did he become a God?" Madara asked through Naruto, "The stone tablet has the last passages worn. It doesn't say how he became a God,"

"I was only 10 when A-Asura-sama left my side. I do not know as much as my p-predecessors," The priestess looked up into the golden eyes. Although they terrified her, she needed to hold this person's gaze. "Great Mother advised me to not speak of A-Asura-sama's disappearance. The faith of o-our followers would disappear along with A-Asura-sama should they know,"

Naruto didn't like the look the priestess gave her. It was different from the sister. It was creepy. Turning her back on the twins, Naruto unsealed the room and left the burning temple. Whether they got out alive or not wasn't of concern. Naruto knew he was following her and kept quiet until she made the journey back to the lodge she was staying at. Dropping her disguise, she slipped into her room and sealed her room once Madara made it inside. Throwing her cloak on a chair, she ran her hands through her hair with a sigh.

"Why did you do that?" Madara stood nearby. Watching her as she gathered her thoughts. The ecstatic look in her eyes from before was gone. Now replaced with cool indifference. "What is wrong with you?" Madara muttered, the crazed look while fighting was gone.

"Don't act so surprised. We're more similar than you think," Naruto frowned at his reaction. She knew a fellow blood-crazed fighter when she saw one. She knew quite a few lowkey ones back home that no one would suspect. Throwing herself on her bed, Naruto stared at the ceiling deep in thought. "Tell me, have you ever been pushed so close to the edge you were desperate for anything but falling to happen?"

Clenching his fists, Madara remained silent. His clansmen were willing to do anything to get the upper hand in the war. Some became desperate. Although he knew very little about her, Madara hated to admit that he felt a kindred spirit with her. An unspoken feeling he didn't feel with Hashirama. "What of it?"

"Heh, a question answered with another question," Naruto was deep in thought as she replied, "I've been to that temple 5 times in two years. Each time as a guest and each time I saw the same thing. There were absolutely no signs of that hidden chamber until I forced the temple to act. If nothing changed when I attacked the temple, I was simply going to burn any traces of these New Gods." Turning her head, she found Madara still standing, watching over her carefully. "Over a decade with no new answers. You can only imagine how fucked up it gets," She gestured to her head.

"Language," Madara clicked his tongue, his brow frowning deeper when she laughed lightly. "You believe desecrating the Holy land is the answer?" He was curious. Just how far would this shinobi go for the answer. Approaching the bed, Madara hesitated before sitting on the bed. Looking down at her, the moonlight barely lit her weary features.

"No," Naruto answered honestly, "This is me being petty. I know the answer lies at the origin of this time walking. Momo is the key," Madara sighed when she gave him a pointed look. "How were you able to read that stone?"

"That is none of your business," Madara grew defensive. He was surprised when the blonde sighed and rolled onto her side away from him. "W-wait," Touching her shoulder, Madara felt his instincts rise at her cold look.

"Listen, I'm grateful that I can talk to someone about all this bullshit after all this time," Naruto said slowly. She had to remind herself that not everyone would jump at the chance to help out. Especially not shinobi from the Warring time period. Just like her dear friend, Naruto decided to approach this man slowly. It had been almost all her life messing with time, Naruto convinced herself that a few more months gaining this man's trust was nothing compared to then. Softening her gaze, Naruto spoke, "However, I also know you're still in denial about what's going on. I'll be around when you're ready to talk. Just think of me when you're sleeping and chances are you'll appear near me,"

Madara closed his mouth. It was frustrating. He wanted to deny her words but it was true. Madara couldn't bring himself to speak about what was happening. There was no way his mind could wrap around the idea of the Might Uzushio falling - leaving behind a single Uzumaki. The thought of such a large clan simply disappearing was unheard of. "Oi," Madara bit the inside of his cheek when she didn't respond, "Oi you–"

"Suddenly too shy to use my name?" Naruto, still facing the wall, teased the older shinobi. She didn't need to face him to know that he was flustered. Despite what Kurama told him, this man wasn't the enemy right now.

"Naruto," Madara grumbled, making Naruto roll towards him. The cold facade is gone, now replaced with what Madara found more natural from her. It was neither warm nor cold. She simply existed. He watched as she shuffled across the bed to give him more room. Madara felt his cheeks flare when she tapped the space beside her. "How dare you?" He whispered harshly.

Rolling her eyes, Naruto placed her head on her tucked arm. Getting a kick out of his reactions. It was similar to Tobirama. They were honed weapons of war yet were seemingly underdeveloped in the social circles. "I'm sure it's common in your time to camp with kunoichi. This is no different if you think about it that way," Seeing that he was going to decline and was about to get up, Naruto egged, "Scared I might do something to you,"

"Huh?!" Madara's brows raised, "You could never lay a hand on me," gesturing her to move over more, Madara laid down on the bed. Facing her with his head laying on his propped up arm. Naruto had a small victorious smile on her face that made Madara frown.

"Well?" Naruto asked.

"Well what?" Madara bitterly spat out.

"I'm sure you wanted to ask me a question,"

Slowly, Madara activated his bloodline, surprising Naruto yet she wasn't hostile towards him. "What happened to Uzushiogakure?" Surprise, anger, grief and lastly pain showed on her face before settling on acceptance.

"What do you plan on doing with this information?" Naruto's voice was quiet. It was faint but the tremor could be heard.

Madara thought over his answers before honestly admitting, "Nothing, I'm just curious." Relief flooded her face but the bitter pain was still there. Her reactions were burned into his mind.

Unable to keep his gaze, Naruto stared at his chin instead. "War can make people greedy and greedy people fear the powerful. The Uzumaki clan had formidable powers and their ability to seal anything - ranging from chakras to living and nonliving things - terrified other nations." she felt her fingers tremble as she spoke. "Three nations," she could hear Madara's breath get heavier, "It took three nations to massacre all of Uzushiogakure. Very few managed to escape,"

"That's…" Madara was lost in his thoughts. It sounded impossible. Three nations to defeat a tiny island nation didn't make sense to him. Sure, Uzushio was protected by raging whirlpools but even so, it would take guts to keep to and pull through such a suicidal idea. "Aren't you furious? These nations destroyed your home - slaughtered your clansmen."

With a deep breath, Naruto looked Madara in the eye. His sharingan was swirling, activated by his boiling emotions. Reaching out, she tapped his nose, his eyes immediately focusing on where she touched him and his sharingan slowing to stop. She wanted to laugh, his reaction was similar to Itachi when she calmed him down. Dropping her hand, Naruto replied, "Of course I'm pissed off but starting a new war won't change anything. My clan is gone."

"You say we're similar but we are far from it," Madara scolded her. Clicking his tongue when she smiled. "We're not similar. I would hunt down every single drop of blood-related to the slaughter of my clan,"

Covering her mouth, Naruto laughed. It was ironic. "Even your own blood?"

Madara went silent. They spent the remainder of the night talking.

XXXX

Waking up alone, Madara rubbed his face with a sigh. He wouldn't be able to see his reflection after comfortably sharing a bed with a woman. He was no saint, but the unsettling comfortable space he shared with Naruto made him anxious. Madara wanted to get some space between them soon.

"Brother?"

Hearing a knock at his door, Madara looked over and saw Izuna slowly open his door. His younger brother looked as tired as he felt. A prolonged war was never good but it was all they knew. It was the environment they grew up in. "What is it?"

"We should go ahead with our plan today," Izuna said slowly, gaging Madara's reaction. As expected, Madara nodded firmly as he got up. "It's for the good of the clan,"

"That's a given," Changing out of his nightclothes, Madara reached for his casual clothing to put on.

Izuna frowned, "Brother, you should rest more before tonight."

"I will be resting. Just not here." Tightening his straps, he looked over his shoulder to Izuna. "I'll be back in time to carry out our plan."

Getting Madara's hint, Izuna scoffed, "Your idea of resting is distasteful,"

"I don't want to hear this from someone who spends their days off with multiple hostesses," Madara smirked when Izuma grew flustered. It was an unspoken secret that the upper clansmen knew about Izuna's preferences. If the young man wasn't training, he was at the nearest town spending time with women. It was a quiet pass-time that many men indulged in. Pushing past Izuna, Madara said, "I'll see you tonight."

Making his way past his clan's boundaries, he headed towards Hanaka. It was an hour's run from his location and it wasn't long until he found himself standing outside a 3-story inn with blue tiles and dragon accents. "It looks cheap," Checking the sun's position, Madara sighed. Part of him hoped he was late but there were still a couple of hours left. Moving around the back of the inn

With freshly washed sheets blowing in the gentle wind, Madara could sense the person he was looking for. "Her information is scarily accurate," Pushing past the sheets, he found a woman arms deep in a washtub scrubbing at a sheet. Sleek black hair and pale pink eyes but what Madara noticed was the teardrop mark on her face. "You," Madarak startled her, "Are you Momo?" He ignored her flushed cheeks as she stood abruptly. His eyes deceived him as they honed in on her large assets. They bounced with her excessive movements. "Scarily accurate,"

"H-hai! This is Momo," Momo bowed hurriedly, looking curiously up at the handsome stranger. It was the first time a customer of the inn approached her.

"Get up," Madara ordered, waiting until she was straight before approaching her. "I've heard about you from a friend," With each step he took towards her, she took a step back until she was trapped between him and a tree.

Momo was unable to meet his gaze, her heart beating frantically, "A f-friend?" This was the first time she heard about this.

"Yes, a tall and pale man with white hair and pupil-less eyes," hearing her gasp, Madara took her chin and forced her to look at him. His eyes slowly bled into his sharingan as she appeared in shock, "A reckless but dutiful man. You know of him don't you, Momo,"

"H-Hamura-sama," Momo was breathless, it was the first time she said his name out loud. Soft tears gathered in her eyes, unaware she was slowly being placed in a genjutsu, "I always believed you were real Hamura-sama,"

Seeing the light in her eyes dim, Madara sighed and released her. She was under his control now. "How the hell did she know this much?" Madara muttered, recalling part of the conversation he had with Naruto. She was patient with his questions and when he dug deeper into the information tucked into her head, Naruto willingly gave it out. At the time, Madara thought she was an idiot but the idiot was him. He was curious now. Curious about what else Naruto knew and how far she'd go to know.

"Make sure to memorise this. I'm only showing you this once. It'll help to look into their minds without them knowing you're there," Madara could hear Naruto's voice, remembering how she traced odd lines on the palm of his hands. He had scolded her, telling her his sharingan was more than enough. She only laughed at him "You rely on your bloodline too much,"

Remembering how her finger moved, Madara channelled chakra to his fingertip and copied Naruto's movements precisely. Once the seal was done, he was quick to activate and found himself gritting his teeth as the seal burned his chakra pathways. "You never said this would happen," He hissed, his hands felt like they were being melted yet Momo looked at peace recalling whatever fantasy she was in. With a gasp, Madara pulled back his hand, staring at the seal as it seamlessly melted into Momo's forehead. "This better work," Feeling his hand tingle, he looked beside him and growled, "What took you so long?"

Gently helping his chakra pathways, Naruto smiled, "I wasn't sure you'd actually come here. I was planning on haunting somebody to do this if you hadn't come here in the next week," Feeling his chakra start to flow smoothly, Naruto approached Momo with a hum. "You did a good job. One small mistake and you would've lost the ability to weave chakra in your hand,"

"Naruto," Madara reached down and pulled on her ear. Earning her yelp in surprise. "We're a team in this. Don't leave anything out." Madara felt the anxiety come back up. Although he said he'd avoid her, he'd do it after getting answers around their condition.

"You mean it?!" Naruto jumped up and got in Madara's face. He pulled away with a tight look, "We're a team, right?"

"Get out of my face," With a large hand, he covered her face and pushed her away. It was still a struggle admitting what was happening but just like whatever got in his way, Madara planned on crushing it all. Moving to pick up Momo, Madara went through the process of getting a room and placed Momo on the floor.

Naruto clicked her tongue. "You could lie her on the fuuton," with quick manipulation of the surrounding with her wind, Naruto lifted Momo's body and placed her atop the fuuton. Sweat gathered on her forehead and she felt drained but she got the woman comfortable. It was scary how Momo's eyes were still open in a daze that it gave Naruto the ick.

"That wasn't necessary," Madara sighed, "What happens now?" Seeing Naruto hold a hand out towards him, Madara questioned, "What will happen?"

"There will be a sudden rush of memories of what the user is seeking. We won't see any more than that. We'll feel nauseous and light-headed. Slight chance of getting a headache, depending on how much information we need."

Madara didn't believe her. She was tricky. "How did you know what this person looked like? The one this woman sees in her sleep." Pointing rudely to the blissfully unaware woman. Naruto's gentle smile creeped him out.

"Are you sure you want to know?" Naruto gave Madara the option to back out, knowing full well he wouldn't. "Momo masturbates to him," Seeing his deadpan stare made her double over in laughter. "I-I'm not lying," Naruto wheezed harder when he just stared at her. It was hilarious to her. "Momo mumbles everything she sees and does in her fantasies. Just read her lips,"

With a hesitant thought, Madara looked down at the hypnotised woman and curled his lip when his eyes picked up the words on her lips. Looking back at Naruto, the amused look on her face didn't hide the sadness in her eyes when she looked at Momo. It didn't take him long to understand why. Over a decade of walking through time with nobody to talk to and getting no answers. It would drive anybody insane. "How long do you believe this woman's been in the past?"

"Not that long," Naruto reached out to move Momo's hair out of her face. Her face twitched when her hands passed through the woman. "Time distorted around her a year ago. You should be able to feel it too." Holding her hand towards Madara once more, the man hesitated before slipping his hand in hers. "It's a subtle feeling. Easy to miss. Almost like a sixth sense."

Madara closed his eyes and focused on his surroundings. Everything felt normal for him but his senses also felt unsettled. It wasn't anything that would worry him but it was there. A sense that something didn't belong but unable to pinpoint what it was. Opening his eyes, he nodded that he felt it. "It is a faint feeling. Once this is done, I need a few days to think,"

Naruto's eyes widened but she nodded, "I understand. I won't come to you unless you find me first," It was a lot of information to take in.

Once she agreed, Madara reached his hand towards Momo's seal and activated it while holding onto Naruto. With a low grunt, Madara felt his body get sucked into a whirlpool. The aggressive shaking unsettled his stomach but he made sure to never let go of Naruto's hand. It wasn't long before the shaking suddenly stopped and Madara groaned as he felt his back slam into the ground with Naruto falling on top of him.

Naruto was slow to recover, seeing Madara under her, she knew it would take him a while to gather himself. "Wait here," She mumbled, jumping up as her senses flared and Kurama stirred within her. Spotting Momo in the distance, Naruto walked carefully towards the woman and found her standing beside the man she described to a T during her intimate times. There was a cosy atmosphere around them. The longing in their eyes stung, making her clutch her heart as she watched them whisper sweet nothings without being able to touch each other. "Kurama, what is this?" She whispered, feeling her stomach sink as sadness touched their faces, unable to get any closer to one another.

The man looked odd to Naruto. She had never seen anyone that resembled him in all her travels. He looked like snow.

"There," Kurama stirred within her, feeling his chakra react to something nearby, "Beyond the couple. What's there?"

Pulling his gaze away from the two lovers, Naruto looked past them and tilted her head. "Uhh a giant tree," She replied, "No, that's a massive fucking tree," Correcting herself, Naruto carefully moved out into the open. Seeing that the lovebirds didn't notice her, she moved as close as she could towards the tree. Naruto found she couldn't move more than the line of sight of Momo. "Kurama….it's huge." Sharing her senses, Naruto allowed Kurama to see what she was seeing. Kurama was stirring within her. Naruto could tell he was restless for all the wrong reasons.

"Stay away from there. It's dangerous," Kurama warned, his senses warning him to not go any closer. The tree looked like a Holy place but the ominous feeling told Kurama that the tree was anything but Holy.

Nodding in agreement with Kurama, Naruto was about to return to where Madara was when a figure appeared beside her. Feeling her eyes widened, Naruto leapt back in shock and faced the newcomer. Before her, stood a similar-looking man that Momo was acquainted with but what lowered her defences slightly was the animal on his shoulder. Although it looked vastly different from the one she knew, Naruto was very familiar with that animal. "Ojiji-sama,"

"What am I supposed to do here?" Hagoromo gestured to the empty space. Looking behind him, he could see his brother not far from him seemingly in a daze. Though his eyes could pick out the outline of a human next to him. With a sigh, Hagoromo asked the toad on his shoulder, "Does this have to do with what's haunting my brother?"

"You have come a long way, Little one," Gamamaru ignored Hagoromo. Staring straight into the surprised blue eyes of the woman before him. He could see her clearly. "You seem to know who I am,"

Naruto could hear Kurama mumbling incoherent musings within her and drowned his voice out. Nodding slowly, she couldn't believe she would meet the Great Toad Sage in the past. "I do. You're an old geezer though. Sometimes I don't know whether you're sleeping or finally dead,"

Gamamaru cracked a smile. "Ahh so you're a summoner for our clan." He nodded, pleased with the results. "I see you have yet to learn senjutsu. Perhaps in the near future,"

"Oi oi who are you talking to?" Hagoromo jolted his shoulder yet it only made Gamamaru leap off his shoulder.

Naruto knelt when Garamaru approached her. Although he looked terribly young, she felt the immeasurable knowledge and respect from his small body. She started to question how old the toad really was. "What is this place, Ojiji-sama?"

"A time well before you, Little one," Gamamaru surprised Naruto by jumping into her arms. His smile grew as she frantically tried to hold him. Hagoromo was stunned to see the toad floating. "You won't find this place in history. History has long forgotten this land." Reaching out, Gamamaru touched Naruto's forehead and with a soft glow, he saw a symbol appear. "Little one, do you know which God has blessed you?"

Naruto frowned, "Blessed? Surely you're joking," Gamamaru was unaffected by her flare of anger, "I've been cursed, Ojiji-sama." A nervous laugh escaped her lips, "I'm barely holding on, Ojiji-sama. At this point, I'll be the one who will burn this world,"

Gamamaru could see the suffering in her eyes. It was well hidden until a moment ago. Although he didn't know her well until the future, the fact she made herself vulnerable to him showed Gamamaru that they were close. Gamamaru shook his head, "No, Little one, your line has always been followed by Takeminakata-sama. I see even Inari-sama has taken a liking to you. These beings look upon you favourably,"

"Then why," Naruto kept her voice low. It threatened to break, "Why am I here?" Unknown to her, Naruto's eyes briefly turned black.

Gamamaru hummed, choosing his words carefully before answering her, "Little one, have you ever thought of why sleepers keep appearing through history?" She frowned with a small shake of her head. Gamamaru pointed towards Hamura and Momo, Naruto's eyes following his gesture. Her eyes softened at the act of the lovers. Although the views around them were beautiful, they only looked at each other.

"They kept falling in love and failing," Naruto whispered, she understood that feeling clearly. There were times she caught herself just wanting to give up and hover around Tobirama. However, she couldn't ignore why it was her choice to go through all of this. "What are they trying to prevent?" Naruto looked back to Gamamaru for an answer, "What are the Old Gods trying to prevent?"

"Think about this," Gamamaru left her with a thought as he jumped out of her arms. "Where did the New Gods come from? Who created them?"

Naruto's eyes widened, "H-hey you already know the answer don't you! Just tell me already!" She shouted as Gamamaru returned to Hagoromo. When the two parted from her, cupping her lips Naruto shouted, "When I see you again I'm going to give you a piece of my mind, Ojiji-sama! Believe it!" Huffing, Naruto felt her mind being tugged. Kurama wanted to talk to her. "Shit, sorry Kurama. We'll have to have this conversation back home."

Turning on her heels, Naruto headed back towards Momo, casting the lovers a bitter glare. She was prepared to find Madara when she heard their conversation.

"I do not understand why we must be apart like this," Momo spoke softly, her eyes wet as she gazed into Hamura's eyes. "I do not want to be apart from you for a second longer,"

"I feel the same, my dear," Hamura sadly tried to caress her cheeks. He desperately wanted to wipe the tears away. To wipe away her sadness.

Naruto frowned. From what she gathered, the other man that looked like Hamura could only see Momo….just like Hashirama for her. Haruma could see and hear Momo … just like Tobirama for her. "Then who the hell are you paired with," Naruto muttered. She didn't know anyone in this timeline and Gamamaru confirmed this place was forgotten in history. Sighing, Naruto had a lot to think about. Feeling her cheeks being squished, Naruto was suddenly faced with an annoyed Madara. "Wehh?"

Checking her face, Madara sighed and released her face. "Don't look at them," He ordered, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back towards the treeline. It took him a while to gather his bearings and when he did, Madara noticed Naruto was long gone. When he found her, the envious look on her face looked unpleasant. Before he knew it, Madara tore her gaze away from the couple and made her look at him. The dark look in her eyes melted away, only to be replaced with shock and annoyance.

"Where are we going? We can't go far from Momo–" Naruto stopped talking when Madara showed her a village nearby. It was a farming village with an out of place large building at its centre.

"Naruto," Madara tugged on her arm, gaining her attention, "There's no chakra here,"

"What?" Naruto tilted her head, "That's impossible," However, when Naruto felt around this world she couldn't feel any chakra. If anything, Naruto could only feel a faint amount of chakra coming from Momo and Hamura's direction. Her eyes scanned the large building, "There's a large amount coming from that building,"

Madara nodded, "Wherever we are, it's just a hunch, but I believe we've come to the time before chakra existed." He knew there wasn't much they could do in Momo's memories but it was a start.

Naruto wanted to laugh. It wouldn't be a pretty laugh either.
