Chapter 7: Meeting the pack

The trio arrived at Scarlet's house to drop her off.

Scarlet: "Thank you for walking me back home, I hope the meeting goes well Jason"

Jason: "It will, Freddy and I will give you the news after the meeting. See you later"

Freddy: "See ya Scarlet"

Scarlet: "See ya"

The duo left Scarlet and started heading back to Freddy's place

Freddy: "So what do you want to do when we get inside?"

Jason: "Maybe we can have a chat or find something to watch, just to pass the time"

Freddy: "Sure"

Ten minutes later with the sun still setting, they were at the front gates of Freddy's place. Freddy texted his father to inform him that he and Jason were there. Seconds later, the gates slowly opened and the two entered. As they reached the front door, they were greeted by a large brown hair man with long beard wearing a dark blue coat and red shirt

Hotspur: "Good afternoon gentleman"

Jason: "And good afternoon to you too"

Freddy said with his board tone: "Hey Uncle Hotspur"

Hotspur: "So you must be Jason?"

Jason: "That's my name"

Hotspur grunted: "Good. Your early, so come in and make yourself comfortable"

He steps out of the way and welcomes then in. Jason took his shades off and placed them in his pocket. On their way to the lounge room, Hotspur gave his guest a tour of the house.

Hotspur: "While you're waiting, make yourself at home, I don't care, Flasheart and the rest will here soon, enjoy"

Jason: "Thanks Hotspur"

The two took a seat, Freddy turned on the TV and surfed the channels until they found a movie to watch

Nine minutes

Hotspur came down stairs to let them know that the meeting was about to start

Hotspur: "Boys, the meeting is starting and I want you two to come with me to the library"

Freddy: "Ok"

Jason and Freddy got up and followed him. Hotspur opened the doors for Jason, revealing Flasheart, Ric, Cherry, Garth and the Hightails

Jason: "We meet"

Flasheart: "Welcome Jason"

Jason walked up to Flasheart and shook his hand. He then greeted the others in a similar way

Jason: "So how's everyone this lovely afternoon?"

Flasheart: "I've been well thank you"

Ric: "Good, thank you for asking"

Cheery: "Doing alright thanks"

Garth: "Great thanks"

Jason: "Good to hear, Bloody lovely, It's excellenting that I get to meet you all for the first time face to face, so. May we start?"

Ric: "Yes please, Mr lupin will do the honours"

Flasheart: "Thank you Ric. So, we understand that you want to deal with the Wilderwolves and have Intel on them. Our pack has handled the previous situations and we don't expect any further issues. In addition, we have other more pressing issues then the Wilderwolves."

Jason: "I understand your point of view but my intel suggests there will be more attacks. I do say the Wilders ain't going to sit down and take it lightly. They have more ideas up their sleeves"

Flasheart: "That's true, we have heard and discussed about your Intel and we are prepared for anything they can throw at us"

Jason paused for a second: "So what does the pack need from me, other than getting further information?"

Flasheart thought about it: "Nothing really. you've done enough to help and we appreciate it"

Jason: "I can still be of use"

Considering Jason comment, Lord hightail asked: "Tell us more about yourself so we can decide. What are your motivations for being involve with the pack?"

Jason spun his shades before answering: "I'm happy that you asked. I came here to support for your pack. To take out the Wilderwolves and the Hunters. Though I don't have a plan for the hunters yet, I wanted to do something about them both. Another reason I came was to back up Freddy from being wronged when he was kicked out of the academy, and I have the truth"

Hotspur's face flushed with anger as he didn't expect that Jason had knowledge about Freddy being kicked out. Jason carried on: "I will get to that later. There a list of things that I need to get done myself to deal with the Wilders and the Hunters. It's not going to be easy with the Hunters, so who knows when I will get to them. Now to answer the question, I can do things you guys cannot or will not do. So, my approach is different"

Garth: "What type of approach is it that you take? Why do you feel like you have to solve our problem by yourself?"

Lord hightail: "You said something about dealing with the Wolf hunters? What do you know about them? Do you have a plan? And what is it that you can do differently?"

Feeling his heart racing, Jason thought: Bloody ugly, I get In, get out and call it a day. They won't take me in if I told them that idea.

Jason spun his shades again: "I was coming up with ideas but none of them were good enough, the main idea was to convinced the hunters that none of you are killers or something. I approach by going in and getting the job done.

I know the Jagger's are apart of the wolf hunting community, with a number of members from this town"

The group stared. Lord hightail asked: "That's an interesting suggestion"

Lady hightail looks at her husband: "Let's pause here. Honey, what else do you think about that this young man?"

Taking in her words, Lord hightail thought about it before replying: "He is a man of something but of what?"

Jason putting his hands in his pockets: "A man of Watch, Knowledge, Respect and Progression"

Hotspur posturing with his suit: "I think we have all the help we need Jason. Thanks for the offer but we'll take over from here"

Flasheart stared at his brother before saying: "Hold on a minute, I had more to say. The hightails have invited you to this meeting because we wanted to know more about yourself and ask you some questions about your goals. If you want to help our pack, we need further information"

Jason smiles: "Ask away, I'm a book already"

Lord hightail: "Alright then, how did you know about us?"

Jason: "I've watched you through on my television. Through your footsteps"

The group stared, Lord hightail then asked: "What do you mean footsteps?"

Jason: "Ok, let me try an example. How about on Freddy's 13th birthday when he turned into a poodle and was kicked out, or when Hotspur was sitting in a limo swiping screen by screen of different dogs that have been caught during in his phone call"

The group stared with pure shock with

Lord hightail asking Flasheart: "Hmm, we will get back to that as soon the meeting is over." Lord hightail asked Flasheart

"Are you sure this is true?"

Flasheart answered: "Yes. It's true what my son has said"

Lord hightail: "Right" he looked back to Jason: "We also believe that your from another dimension"

Jason caught off guard, stared before answering: "Correct. Your son told you about it?"

Flasheart: "Yes he did"

Lord hightail: "Mr lupin forward this to us during in our previous meeting. We would like to also know your skills?"

Jason: "I can craft gadgets or technology goods, high level skilled in close combat"

Lord hightail: "Two skills you have"

Lord hightail responded: "So how long have you been doing it for?"

Jason: "I would say a year"

Lord hightail: "And is there any other skill that you would like to also share?"

Jason: "No Lord, just those two"

Lord hightail then nods his head and then faces the others, with him saying: "Should we now talk about the plans?"

Lady hightail: "Yes. We know that the night patrol were supposed to be taking out the Wilders in their hideout, because Mr lupin cancelled it to let Jason complete his tasks. We need to make a new strategy of how we are going to deal with them"

Flashback

While Flasheart was in his bedroom, he was calling his brother

Hotspur said with his angry tone voice: "Who is this guy?"

Flasheart: "His name is Jason, he has knowledge about our pack, can you request a meeting?"

Hotspur: "Yes brother, I will spread the word"

Flasheart: "Thank you, I also had to cancel the beach too"

Hotspur shocked: "Wait, why?"

Flasheart: "He has been investigation inside the Wilders for audio recordings"

Hotspur held in a bit of anger

Flasheart sighed: "We will speak further on in the meeting ok?"

Hotspur: "I swear Flasheart…"

The call then cuts off

Flashback ends

Back to what Lady hightail was saying

Lady hightail: "Mr lupin, as I ask of what did Jason pick up when he was in the hideout?"

Flasheart: "We discovered of the Wilders were using the same strategy but with some few changes, I will let you have a listen"

Flasheart got his phone out and played the mp3

Alpha one: "We have failed to take over Milford, when those mutts laid us down. We will strike again, we will be stronger and will not yield until they fell down"

Alpha one: "Now is the time to act, we gave them softness but now its going to be blood. Anyone that gets in our way will be put to death. We will use the same plan with some changes"

Six members of the Wilderwolves pack were gathered, listening to their leader. Alpha one was clocked in his black hooded coat. His red glowing eyes piercing through the dark.

Alpha one: "I have devised changes that will vanquish the mutts"

All the wolves growled and howled to cheer on their leader. With the noise started to die down

Wilderwolf 1: "My lord, may I make a suggestion?"

Alpha one: "Yes?"

Wilderwolf 1: "Why don't we ambush them ourselves?"

Alpha one: "That's the idea, but we have to be stealthy. We don't want them to sniff us out"

Wilderwolf 2: "Lord while we deal with the night patrollers inside their HQ, why don't we take someone hostage?"

Alpha one: "Like who?"

Wilderwolf 2: "Like the kids that joined the fight, or even the leader?"

Alpha one: "Let me hold on to that. It seem it could be useful to take someone but also hard to execute. Good thinking"

Wilderwolf 2: "Thank you my lord"

Wilderwolf 3: "My lord one of our followers are missing, should we be concerned that they haven't shown up?"

Alpha one: "I can see that but he should be fine, we will find him when we leave"

Alpha one: "Warriors, tonight has not been long enough to discuss the entire plan so we will meet each other again in three moons. Go along"

Flasheart paused the mp3 and said: "We are ready for anything they will throw at us"

Lady hightail: "So how can we trust you that your not with the hunters?"

Jason: "If I was on their side, I would of have told them everything about you straight away. I been with Freddy and Scarlet since day one and I haven't even told a single thing"

The others looked at each other

Lord hightail: "He might be right, if Jason wanted to betray us, he would of done it before"

Lady hightail: "Or Jason hasn't got the chance to tell Scarlet about it to forward it on"

Freddy: "Guys! Scarlet wouldn't do anything to talk behind our backs! She is longer on the hunter's side. And Jason wouldn't even say a thing"

Jason turned around and looked at Freddy: "Exactly"

Lord hightail: "So then Jason, why did you go to her first?"

Jason: "I didn't wanna walk up to this house and say "Can I speak to Freddy?" and have Flash or someone shut the door on me. So I had get to know someone who would speak to Freddy, and then try to meet him properly."

Lord hightail thought before answering: "You did share some information which I'm pleased with. I think it shows you are willing to stand ground for this pack but would you kindly share your knowledge of why Freddy was being wronged?"

Jason: "Freddy wouldn't betray your pack, he was only trying to get an understanding about the Hunters"

Freddy: "Yeah and Scarlet was just a girl that believed werewolves were cursed. I tried to tell her that this was untrue without giving her any hints that I was apart of a wolf pack"

Jason looks at Freddy: "He said not a thing, no information, no names, nothing"

Flasheart: "I know my son will never do such a thing to put this pack at risk. If Scarlet has changed her point of view, I also believe that she would not do anything to betray him. Again, She helped us escaped while we were ambushed"

Everyone looked at him while his brother was boiling

Jason: "Anyways what else caused him to be wronged? Put it to Hotspur, He has always been against Freddy because of his breed. From kicking him out of the home to locking him into a shipping container during the academy trial, so Hotspur puts up a lie that he was been kidnapped by his own nephew. These are all examples of his ongoing discrimination against Freddy. So with the 'pack leader' power, he puts him down"

Everyone went quite

Jason continued: "And as we pointed this out. He was trying to get an understanding and knowledge. End of case, He should come back to the academy.. Moving on"

Jason paused before continuing: "Let's paint a picture of this family, a person who has a different form. And the way you treat this person. As I like to say it, is disappointing and sickens me."

He paused for a few seconds

Jason: "Hotspur used the 'Freddy taking the ring' as a means to turn you all against him when he became a poodle. Hotspur made you feel ashamed to have a dog as your leader and convinced you that Freddy turning into a poodle was a sign that the ancestors were punishing you all for Freddy's childhood mistake. He convinced you that Freddy did not have the strength to be a member of the pack and certainly not as it's leader.

You shits, believed him and sent a defenceless teenager out into the dangerous street without any protection just to 'prove' himself. That is real idiotic move. To never have sent a newly turned wolf."

After a few seconds of silence

Jason: "He was a child that wouldn't understand and have the maturely to know the consequences it could bring"

Everyone look at Jason with shock as he carried on

Jason kept his cool: "So you were all angry and put the blame on both him and his father because of the spirits. Believing your ancestors were punishing the pack because of that night. Why else would these god damn spirits would make Freddy a poodle, instead of a wolf? In my opinion, it was the spirits helping him to get the ring back without being detected"

He paused for effect and walked around slowly

Jason: "Or to change the dogs opinion of the wolves and improve your pack's reputation?"

Hotspur just stared at Jason with pure rage, Jason continued: "Anyway, was Hotspur ever held accountable for what he did to his brother and nephew?"

Hotspur slammed the table with his fist, the group jumped. Flasheart: "Brother!"

Hotspur yelled at Jason: "I will get you for this!"

Flasheart: "Enough!"

Everyone stared at Hotspur with disgust due to his wrath.

Lady hightail: "We do not appreciate that type of behaviour in this meeting, Hotspur"

Flasheart answered Jason question: "My brother has of course been reprimanded for his actions. Unfortunately as he is the leader of the pack, there is little that we can do to punish him. A leader cannot be replaced until they pass on"

Jason: "No shit. So what can you do?"

Flasheart: "While my brother is the leader, he still needs the pack's support. So instead of the pack blindly following his orders, we have these pack meetings. Here we make decisions as a pack including judgements and actions. At times, the senior leaders such as myself and the hightails can stand in as the pack leader but we can never have the full power of the position"

Jason: "What happens if Hotspur continues these actions?"

Flasheart: "We have little that we can do except to give as much support for Freddy as we can and extend the timeframe that Hotspur requires the full pack's consent before making any decisions"

There was silence for a few seconds

Lord hightail stands up from his chair: "Jason is welcomed in our pack. And I will say this, I allow Scarlet to get involved. As Jason already has detail knowledge about the pack, he can have further information about us. However, Scarlet is not to have any further information. Under no circumstance is Jason to share any information about us outside of the pack, I will decide when it is appropriate."

Freddy smiles from the news. Lord hightail was still talking: "And in regards to Freddy. I have decided since it should be fair, he will be making a back to the academy and continuing on with his studies"

Suddenly Freddy felt elated: "Thank you so much"

Jason felt pleased but played it cool, not letting it show on his face: "And thank me too"

Lord hightail: "This brings us to the end of this meeting, I want to thank Flasheart for inviting us. I look forward to our next meeting"

Hotspur: "Hey! You can't decide if these two can be near that girl!…"

Flasheart cuts off his brother: "You have already caused enough damage to my son and the pack. We will have this discussion when we leave"

Everyone was looking at Flasheart before looking back at Jason.

Before Jason head out, Lord hightail called him: "Jason, I would like to ask if we can take the time to see how you traveled?"

Jason squinted his eyes and answered sarcastically: "As in showing you how it works?"

Everyone stared at him in disbelief

Jason: "It will be done under the night sky with no eyes on us"

Time skip

The pack arrived at a clearing deep in the dark woods, Jason took out the device that he uses to spawn the portal.

Lord hightail: "Right, show us"

Before pressing the button, Jason looked back at Lord hightail and asked: "Would visiting the academy to see Freddy and his friends be an issue?"

Lord hightail: "I don't think visiting as a guest would be a problem. Just ask Ric"

Turning back towards the clearing, he pressed the button placed his hands in his pockets. The portal blinked open shining brightly. It remind open briefly and then disappear as quickly as it came.

Jason faced the group, opening his arms wide as he turned: "Proof ladies and gentleman"

Jason tilted his head slightly, a smug smile on his face

Flasheart: "Ok then."

Jason: "An ok? Sure"

Jason: "And now to cut through the bullshit of getting to know each other. During my travels I have gained severals abilities. Don't ask me how I got them but my body can heal itself, I am able to understand animals depending on the dimension, manipulate physics in a fight with animals, and I am very agile."

Jason: "Looks like we are done here. I want to say thank you for holding this meeting, I'm glad we could talk and have this done. I need to get back to my camp site and get some sleep. If you need me just speak to Flasheart and he will give you my number. And Freddy, we will meet up again soon"

Freddy: "Ok!"

Everyone said their goodbyes to Jason before leaving.

Flasheart: "Jason, I will give you a call to check on you"

Jason: "Ok, you have a goodnight Flash"

Flasheart: "You too"

And with that Jason left the screen. As he walked away, werewolf eye watched him from the bushes.
