Chapter 18.
Lyla and Steph were at the crow getting inventory done.
Steph gets a text proceeds to smile and reply.
" Juice miss you already?" Lyla asked without looking up from her clip board.
Steph finishes the text and sets her phone down. "He was just wondering who was on security tonight that's all"
Lyla just nods her head. "Ok...whatever you say"
As they finish up they hear a knock at the front door.
They look at the front door confused.
"Who the hell could that be. Its only noon?" Stephs says as she heads to the door.
She sees a women with blond curly hair, unbrushed. She was looking down at the ground. Her tshirt and jeans were baggy. At least 2 sizes too big.
Steph opens the door. She looks familiar she thought.
"Uh is Tara here?" She asks in a small voice.
"No hun shes not on shift today. Can I help you with somthin?" Steph asks
Wendy began to tell her No and walk away when Lyla notices her.
"Wendy? What the hell are you doing here?" Shes sternly demands
Wendy got very anxious and started rubbing her arms
"Nothing I just wanted to talk to Tara. Im just gonna go." She turned to walk away.
Lyla got angry. "Wendy!, whatever your trying to do isnt going to work. No judge in their right mind would give you a fucking dog to take care let alone a kid. Stay the fuck away"
With that Lyla closed the door and locked it. She pulled out her phone to message Tara.
"Who the hell was that?" Steph asked
"Its Abel junkies birth mother" Lyla responded in disgust.
Steph points the door. "THAT is Jax's Ex wife?" She asks surprised.
Lyla rolls her eyes. "Yep, I mean she wasnt always that bad. She was even kind of pretty but she got hooked on drugs and even after getting pregnant didnt stop. Abel was born premature with a hole in his heart and his stomach."
"Holy shit" steph said. "I knew Tara wasnt Abels biological mother but I had no idea.
Lyla nodded. "Yep. She showed up while we were on vacation at the fucking hotel talking about how she wanted Abel."
Steph couldnt contain her shock. "Are you serious? I mean shes obviously not in her right mind. Did she actually expect Jax and Tara to hand him over?"
Lyla looked out the door towards the direction Wendy walked in. " Honestly, I dont think so. Something is strange about it all."

Tara was sitting at her desk doing some paperwork when her phone texting alerts her. She cant believe what she reads. "What the hell!"
She jumps up and heads toward the nursery to tell Lex. She calls Jax on the way to inform him what just went down at the Crow.
Lexi was just finishing taking a newborn baby girls vitals. She sees Tara walk over talking on her phone visibly upset. She walks out of the nursery up to Tara.
"Tara whats wrong?" She asks
"I know baby, I love you too" Tara says before hanging up. " Wendy is whats wrong"
She tells Lexi what just happend.
"What could she possibly want to talk to you about?" Lexi asked
Tara shrugs. "I dont know. But Lex, Im so close to doing something I have promised I would never do again"
Lexi put her hand on Tara shoulder. She didnt like Tara talking this way. She was not a person who hurt people. She healed people. But she is also a mother.
"Tara look, I get it you want to protect Abel, but you cant do somthing that could jeopardize your future with them or jeopardize the health of your baby" Lexi calmly explained.
Tara nodded and sighed. "I know, your right. I just wish I knew why now?"
Tara was so worked up she didnt notice Sid standing around the corning listening to them. Hearing about what had happened he became angry. " Fucking Wendy, what the hell are you doing" he whispered harshly to himself. He started walking towards his car. "This bitch is going to ruin everything."
Sid got in his car and tried calling Wendy. "Fuck!" He yelled as it went straight to voice mail. He knew he had to get back to his apartment to see if she was there. He didnt know what she was trying to do but he had to stop her before Tara or Jax actually considered hearing her out. Who knew what kind of shit she would tell them.

Back at the club house Jax walks in frustrated. He gets a beer and sits down at the bar.
Opie sees him and walks over. "Whats up?"
"My fucking junkie ex wife, she showed up at The Crow looking to talk to Tara. Lyla says she looked worse then when she was at the hotel" Jax explains
Opie shakes his head. "What the fuck is she thinking?"
Happy and Chibs came walking in seeing Jax.
"Hey Jackie boy!" Chibs greeted "We saw Wendy walkin down the road."
"Ya she looked fucking ruff" Happy added
"How long ago was it that you saw her?" Jax asked hopping to be able to catch up to her and ask her what the hell she wanted.
Happy shrugged. "Few hours ago, why?"
Jax sighed. "Fuck. Well if anyone sees her call me right away. Shes been trying to talk to Tara and after what she pulled the last weekend I wanna know why"
Just then Juice came walking in from the back carrying his laptop. " Jax I got what you asked for"
He walked up to the bar and sat the laptop down and pointed to the screen. "After Abel was born she took off to a rehab in Arizona. After 4 months she moved into a halfway house. She got a job working at some convenient store. She was actually sober for almost a year then fell off the wagon. She got kicked out of the halfway house and spent some time on the streets. Her whereabouts are sketchy for another couple years. I couldn't find much until she popped up again in a jail in Wisconsin."
Jax shook his head. "Wisconsin?"
Juice nodded. "Yep. She was locked up for over a year. When she got out she was sent to another half way house in Chicago. She didn't spend much time there though. She got involved with some guy."
Jax shook his head.
Happy looked closer at the pictures Juice had pulled up. "He looks familiar."
The rest of the guys started looking at the screen as well.
Opie pointed to the screen. "Ya he does. Kinda looks like that creep at The Crow"
Juice nodded. "Ya I thought so too so I looked more into him." Juice pulled up another screen. "Sydney Drake. Goes by Sid. He was Chief editor at a publishing company. Then his wife died during during child birth and then his son died 2 days later"
Jax felt sorry for the guy but didn't know why this was relevant. "Alright so what does he have to do with anything?" He asked
Juice looked at Jax."The hospital his wife and son died at...it was the same hospital Tara worked at when she lived in Chicago. She was the surgeon that worked on his son"
Jax and the other guys felt uneasy now. Not just because Wendy was acting strange but now they were convinced Sid ending up in Charming with Wendy was no coincidence.
Jax radar was going off. He now knew he HAD to get to Wendy and figure out what she knew. Was she helping Sid plot some sort of revenge? Did Sid blame Tara for what happened to his family?
Opie put his hand on Jaxs shoulder as if he knew what he was thinking. "Maybe you should have Tara and the kids come to the club house after work."
