Beastars – Into the spotlight
Chapter 15 – Tell me lies
POV Legoshi
"…and last but not least, with the most nominations this year, and indeed every year we´ve ever voted…" the moderator announced, "…from the Cherryton Highschool, nominated by Cherryton´s drama-club, by their athletics-club, by their arts-department, by the in-house "school wave" newspaper-club, by the principal of Cherryton himself and last but not least by the chief of the police force, Legoshi! …come up on stage, please!"
This was just so unreal. I stood behind the curtain, hidden from the applauding audience and listened to that like it was my own execution.
I´ve had nightmares about this for the last three nights already, and now it has become reality.
They even put a video-recording of me acting out Volpone in the city theatre on the projector-wall now.
"Go get out there" the principal chuckled, pushing me onto the stage gently but also undeniably, "They´re all waiting for you!"
And then I suddenly stood on that TV-stage, being broadcasted live throughout the entire city. The audience began clapping for me like they did for all the other candidates before me and the moderator, a middle-aged elk in a blue suit and with really thick glasses, turned his attention just to me now.
"Legoshi" he repeated with a well-executed smile, "…so good to have you here!"
"Thank you…" I said with a faked little smirk, but I wasn't able to be very enthusiastically about it.
"…excited for the voting?" he asked, referring to my obvious nervousness.
"Y-yeah" I said, before adding with a probably way too sympathetic little smirk, "…this is pretty crazy."
"Haha…" he laughed in amusement, just like the audience with a big smile on his face, "Yes it is!"
"The only thing that´s really crazy is that you´re still acting like you don't know who the winner of this is!" I thought in my head, "Does anybody still believe this will not be me in the end?"
I didn´t say it out loud of course, this was a live TV show, but the fakeness of this whole thing really disgusted me already.
The audience still clapped well-behavedly and we waited for them to calm down a little once again.
"…you´ve been on a real tear this year, haven't you?" the elk asked me now, "…I mean, two lead roles in the drama-club…you´ve saved a student…fellow students are calling you a hero already…"
"I…" I sighed, "…I only try to help out where I can."
"Oh no, not so humble now" he grinned, "…there must have been a few reasons for you getting nominated by the entire school…"
"I´m just trying to be nice to everybody…" I said, shrugging my shoulders again.
"Well…that seemed to be working out well for you…" he announced a little louder, pointing at the projector-screen once again, "Let´s take a look what the people we asked think of you!"
POV Louis
Just like with the other candidates this year, they showed a few short interviews with the people who nominated him now. The first one was Aoba, being filmed in the Cherryton theatre-hall:
"…Legoshi is unique…and I mean that in a very possible way! …he might be strong and loud if he wants to, but he´s also the most gentle and caring person I´ve ever met in my life…he´s motivating, he´s kind, he´s an inspiration and I think I don't have to talk about his abilities as an actor, do I?" he asked with a little chuckle, before they cut to the next interview.
This time, it was Sebastian, who I remembered wanted to become a Beastar as well, before Legoshi quite effectively had put an end to that.
"…as a former candidate, all I can say is that I´m nothing but impressed by this guy. I´ve rarely met somebody so able to forgive and so down to earth about himself. I´d vote for him every day of the week. You go, Romeo!" the fox grinned.
The audience actually laughed about this loud enough that it was hearable on TV.
Where the other candidates just had one or maybe two nomination video-messages, it still kept on going for Legoshi now.
"…Legoshi is just who we need for the Beastars…" it was the Prinicpal himself in the interview now, "…the Cherryton drama club was allowed to play in the city theatre because of his efforts, I´ve seen him stop fights among students in very impressive ways, I´ve seen him motivate his dorm-mates to get on stage as well, I´ve heard of him saving a small herbivore student from a criminal organisation and I´ve never seen him brag about anything he had accomplished. We haven't had a more promising candidate in a very long time…"
I didn´t image him to be this blunt about it, but I wasn´t surprised that he still tried pushing him into it.
Then an interview with Sanu was shown: "…we´ve never had a student quite like him in the drama-club before…" he said, "…he is a real star in the spotlight, but he cares about his teammates as well! …he took care of the lights and the stage before we gave him the role of Romeo, and now they all look up to him…"
"Stupid pelican" I groaned lowly, "…stop sucking his dick already! He´s won the fucking thing, why do they keep making him look even greater?"
Now I believed they showed a student from the school-wave newspaper: "…that wolf is a phenomenon ever since he stepped into the spotlight" the girl with the round glasses and the camera around her neck explained, "The whole school loves him, the school-newspaper loves him, I think everyone else will love him as well" she added with a giggle.
They cut back to Aoba now, where a female voice off-screen asked him: "…you think he has chances to get voted?"
"What, Legoshi?" he chuckled into the camera, followed by a confident smirk, "…yes. Yes he does."
Then it cut to Sebastian once more.
"…if Legoshi is an inspiration to me? One-hundred percent."
Now it cut to a shot of a rather young black panther in a police uniform, who was notorious for leading the investigations against black market providers and also the clans controlling them very ambitiously.
"You bastard. As if you don´t consume black market products from time to time! Fucking hypocrate!"
"Legoshi helped us arrest over twenty criminals of a highly dangerous clan" he explained proudly, "And he did that just because he wanted to save the life of a student! That´s the kind of courage we need more off in this city. We need somebody who gets respected and feared by the criminal scumbags. We need somebody who knows what´s right or wrong and isn't afraid to show his fangs when needed. We need somebody like Legoshi for the Beastars."
I just couldn't help but shake my head at this point. The way he talked was just too ridiculous.
"What´s next? Do they want to vote him the next mayor as well?"
They cut back to the principal one last time, who just nodded into the camera with a confident little smile now. And with that the video faded out and the stage was in the frame again.
"…still thinking you´re not way too humble about yourself?" the moderator asked the wolf with a sheepish grin, and the whole audience laughed stupidly, before they gave him a really big round applause once again.
I could tell how much Legoshi hated that as well though. I guessed that he just wanted to put his hands in front of his face at this point. Nobody lost a single word about what really happened, they just talked about all the ´great things´ he did.
He really struggled to find a good answer to that right now.
"I…" he began lowly, shaking his head a little, "…I grew up a loser all my life. I was feared and hated because they all just saw a dangerous animal in me. Now they all love me because I´ve proven that I´m just a regular guy as well…"
It got really quiet in the studio now, both the audience and also that way too enthusiastic moderator. This wolf just had that magic about him that made everybody listen when he had something to say.
"…I´ve never even dreamed about becoming a Beastar" he spoke the truth out loud now.
"Really?!"
He nodded slowly, looking the Elk right in the eyes, "…but apparently, they all see more in me than I do myself."
That made him really speechless for a moment. This must be a first in the history of the Beastars as well.
POV Bill
"Look, Legoshi…" the elk continued after a really long silence, this time a little less enthusiastically as before, "…nobody is born a star, even less a Beastar. Nobody needs people who brag about how big and strong and cool they are… …but nobody needs them to hide themselves or make themselves smaller than they are either…"
The wolf just nodded slowly, forcing a little smile now.
"…so what do you think? Do you think you have chances of winning the vote today?"
To my big surprise, he just nodded again with a confident expression. It was just too obvious to not know about it, even for him. He would win this vote by miles. The other no-names where just nominated so it would at least seem like a vote this year.
"And what are your plans if you really should get elected a Beastar today, Legoshi?" the Elk wanted to know.
"…plans?" he chuckled lowly, "…do you mean…besides being a student who has to study for exams and rehearsing with the drama-club?"
That counter-question made the audience chuckle again quite noticeably.
"Yeah" the moderator affirmed with an amused smile.
"…I guess I´d still try not to get into trouble with anyone. That´s a hard-enough task in itself. The division between carnivores and herbivores is still pretty noticeable, sadly. …I just want to get along with everybody…and I hope that…others can follow that idea as well."
That was followed by a big, thoughtful silence, and then a slowly rising but long lasting applause.
"…that is very well said, Legoshi" the moderator told him with a contented little nod.
It was well said. I wasn´t quite sure if he came up with that himself though, somehow it felt a little scripted to me.
"Maybe he actually wants to become a Beastar and just pretended like it´s not a big deal to him…" I thought in that moment, "…he´s good at acting and reading scripts out loud. It´s one of his biggest strengths after all."
He just nodded once again with a sympathetic little smile, and then the moderator finally let him off the hook. For now.
"Very well then, Legoshi" he said conclusively, "I wish you the best of luck for the vote and everything that follows."
"Thank you" he said with a calm little smirk and a nod towards him, shaking his hand slowly.
"See you tonight!"
The audience began clapping once again and Legoshi slowly left the stage just the way he came in from, waving the camera once more shortly. Then he was out of sight and the Elk began with a little recap of all the candidates. They had cut together another little montage with all the candidates and a quick video message from the former sublime Beastar Yahya, who apparently would be on stage tonight as well.
"…tonight at 8pm we´ll know more!" he then ended the show for now, waving the cameras goodbye, "See you then, when this year´s Beastars-voting has ended!"
POV Jack
Legoshi came back from the stage and immediately ran into the bathroom. It seemed like he was just barely able to stop himself vomiting all over the hallway, and when we carefully went in there two or three minutes later, he still was leaning over one of the sinks, trying to calm down his heavy breathing.
"Legoshi!" I asked him, patting his back carefully, "Are you okay?"
"What is happening?" he asked lowly, shaking his head, "What is happening right now?!"
He almost seemed a little hysterical.
"You´re getting voted a Beastar" Durham chuckled lowly, "…that´s what´s happening."
"I…I didn´t really believe it until now…" the wolf whispered, looking at us now, "…I didn´t think it would be this serious!"
"You looked pretty serious on that TV stage just now though…" Durham explained, and I kinda had to agree with him on that. He did look very professional.
"I was trying my hardest to stay calm…" he sighed, now looking back down into the sink, "…but this is just ridiculous!"
"You looked great" I told him the truth once more, "…you can do this, Legoshi!"
He kept on shaking his head though, "…its…its just too much pressure from all sides…I…I…"
"Come on Legoshi…" Durham chuckled lowly, "You performed Shakespeare in front of the entire city! …you´ve had sex on the roof and the whole school knows about it…goddammit, you´re a freaking legend already!"
Legoshi didn´t seem like he was bothered by that kind of talk right now. He just shook his head slowly.
"You´re…"
"That´s something completely different" he stopped him now, not even hinting a little smile, "…I was fine with being some sort of clown at this school, now they want to vote me a fucking Beastar!" he enraged himself again, actually showing his sharp teeth for a second.
This actually frightened me so much that I had to gulp down my fear there. It shut Durham up as well now, but Legoshi quickly relaxed himself from that growl once again. I knew he didn´t like showing his teeth like that, he just couldn´t help himself sometimes.
"You never were a clown…" I disagreed with his statement, "…you are my best friend. You´ve been the most generous guy I´ve ever met in my life. That alone makes you a hero already."
I knew he probably didn´t want to hear that again, but it was nothing but the truth.
"….I shouldn´t have accepted it. I shouldn't have come here today."
"After all that work they´ve put into it?" Durham asked, "…after all the interviews and stuff?"
"Nobody told me about this" he said coldly, "Nobody told me there were no other real candidates. Nobody told me the principal would activate half the school for this!"
The way he growled that right now really made us really feel his anger. His entire body was shaking I just noticed.
"Are you alright, Legoshi" I asked once again, "…I´m worried about you."
He now turned towards the mirror above the sink once again. He took a deep breath and stared at himself while exhaling slowly.
"I´m sorry…" he sighed, "…I didn't want to get aggressive…I´m just worried I might do something stupid."
"Stupid…how?"
"Like…telling them the whole truth. You know. About what I did to Bill and so on…"
"Dude…" Durham told him, "I think the principal would kill you if you did that…"
"That´s my point" he sighed with a little nod, "I´m trapped in this whatever I do. Either I keep on acting and become a Beastar or else I´m in serious trouble. Even the freaking police-chief nominated me!"
He sadly had a point about that as well. He was too deep into this to get out of it now.
But then Durham asked a question he probably didn't actually consider before:
"Ever thought about that being really awesome though?" he whispered, "Being a Beastar?"
POV Legoshi
"Making life-changing decisions, huh? Have you ever really thought about what you want to do after graduation? Going to a university, getting prepared for a well-pain office job? Maybe I could become a professional theatre-actor? …that´s not that well-paid either, is it?"
That question actually got me thinking about a lot of things I haven't actually considered before.
"Yeah, Legoshi, what about becoming a Beastar? Could be cool after all, I enjoyed the appreciation and also the respect I was getting from everybody so far. But would it really be as easy as everybody kept saying it was? Why did I never have any good thoughts or dreams about it? Why didn´t I have one positive feeling about this yet? Why did this just feel like a burden so far?"
"I don't know" I sighed to Durham´s question lowly, "Maybe."
"You should consider accepting your fate" Jack said, "…you know…make the best of it."
"I can kiss my normal life goodbye anyway" I sighed with a little nod, "Isn´t it like that?"
"Dude" Durham grinned, "What is normal about life anyway?"
I nodded with a little smirk. He genuinely had a point asking that. Nothing had been normal ever since I got pushed onto that stage.
"You know what?" I said with a little shrug, "Screw it. What else could possibly happen to me?"
Normal POV
The white vixen with the black pants and black leather jacket checked her watch for the third time in the meanwhile. Him rushing the bathroom like that just after coming from the stage-set would have been the perfect opportunity for her, but his friends checking out on him in there forced her to think of something else quickly.
She had been standing in this hallway for quite a while already and a lot of people kept on passing by. It might even look a little suspicious at this point, but failure was not an option. Her boss would kill her for this.
"Come on, kid" she groaned lowly and in slight annoyance already, "Get out of the bathroom!"
There wasn´t a whole lot of time. The voting would be ending in just under four hours and they still had quite a lot to do.
Then the door opened, finally. The wolf left the bathroom, followed by the golden retriever and the coyote that went in to look after him, and the vixen immediately chased after them.
"Legoshi?" she asked him, using her -on countless occasions- proven charming smile, "Excuse me for a minute, please?"
He stopped in his tracks and turned around slowly, looking at her with a warm but also quite neutral smirk.
"…my name is Skylar" she introduced herself quickly, "But you can also just call me Skye if you like. …anyway, I´m supposed to pick you up for a quick meeting with some of the current Beastars…" she explained, "…shouldn´t take much longer than an hour."
Legoshi hesitated for a short moment. He didn´t really want to see anybody else but his friends right now as it seemed, but on the other hand, this would become a pretty long afternoon already, and being able to meet some actual Beastars in advance could probably be an opportunity he would regret not to have taken.
"Right now?" he asked, looking at this friends for a moment.
She took a quick look at her watch, "We´re actually 5 minutes late already" she chuckled with a slightly stressed but also encouraging, still very sympathetic little smile.
Legoshi still struggled a little, but then she waved him to follow her and he turned around in the hallway. "Come with me…" she told him with a little chuckle, "It´s only a short car-ride away."
"I see you guys later" Legoshi told his friends, before he followed the friendly vixen, "I really want to talk to those guys."
They just nodded shortly, surely being a little surprised by that sudden development. But then they already were out of eyesight.
Skye immediately brought him to the car park, where she opened a black limousine with a key and told him to get in on the co-driver´s side. This all went really quickly for him as well, but now it was too late anyway. They were out of the car-park already.
"So…" Legoshi began lowly, as she steered the car onto the road and joined the afternoon traffic, "…how are they?"
"How is who?" she asked shortly, more concentrated on the traffic than on the conversation apparently.
He would lie if he said the wasn´t excited to meet the Beastars, but Skye suddenly acted a lot colder than in the hallway just a minute ago. She even seemed a little annoyed by him now. Really cold and professional.
"Was it really just her job to pick me up and bring me to the Beastars?" he asked himself, "Was I just another passenger for her?"
It didn't seem like she would talk about that herself if he didn't ask.
"So…you´re working with the Beastars?"
It didn´t seem like she wanted to talk about that either, because instead of answering his question, she just ignored it and turned on the radio.
"…And now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you´re not here
To get he through it all…"
Skye immediately turned it off again, and that confused the wolf even more. The radio seemed to annoy her as well, and that made it even more weird and uncomfortable for Legoshi to sit in this car with an unknown destination. Something to listen to was the only thing that would have relaxed him a little in his situation.
"I liked that song…" he told her lowly, truly feeling a little sad she turned it off. He couldn´t quite understand how somebody could not like it.
But Skye didn´t say anything and just kept on driving with the radio turned off. It seemed like she was in a really dark mood right now.
Then she suddenly stopped the car by the sidewalk, right next to the entrance to some sort of construction-site or something like that. She reached out for something in the door-pocket on her side quickly and then immediately pulled it over her face.
It was a gas mask, and before Legoshi could even ask her what that was about, she already had pushed the little red button on her dashboard and a really strong-smelling gas was being released inside the cabin. Legoshi tried to open the door on his side of the car quickly, but it was locked and he was already beginning to feel dizzy.
"I´m very sorry" she chuckled now, before she accelerated the car again, took a right and drove deeper into the construction-site.
That was the last thing Legoshi witnessed, before his vision went completely blurry and then faded to black.
POV Durham
After we watched Legoshi and that vixen leave for the carpark or whatever their destination was, Jack and I went back towards the big room with the chairs and the buffet. The others from our dorm waited there already, being in conversations with other students and the friends and families of the other Beastar-candidates. Juno and Anita were here as well, and of course they immediately gathered around us as well when we came back.
"Have you found him?" Miguno asked, just like the others looking a little confused because he wasn´t with us.
Jack just nodded nervously.
"Legoshi went away with a pretty vixen for an hour or so…" I explained, "…or at least that was what she said how long it´s gonna take…"
"What?!" Juno asked in shock.
"She said she´ll bring him to a little meeting with some of the current Beastars…" I grinned, waving it off now, "Don't worry."
"Oh…" she said, noticeably relaxing a little, "…thanks for that you dork."
Jack shed a little smirk here as well, but somehow he still seemed a little concerned about that.
"Still sounds a little shady to me though…" he commented, "…she just came out of nowhere!"
"Relax…" I waved it off, "…it´s not like that vixen could harm him in any way…is it?"
"Well…she maybe won´t" Jack said, "…but he´s going to be voted a Beastar. What if she brings him to somebody who might hurt him?"
"Come on, it´s not like he´s gonna be part of some mafia business or something like that" Miguno agreed.
"Well…" Juno sighed lowly, "…they already tried poisoning him with komodo dragon venom…"
That sadly was a point we couldn´t ignore. I hadn't been thinking about that so far, but she was right, that story was pretty alarming.
"Did you like her?" Collot asked now.
"Who? The vixen?" I asked, "I´ve found her quite charming."
"She was very sympathetic…" Jack agreed lowly, "…but then again, vixens can be really dangerous" he added, looking at his girlfriend with a little smirk.
"Are they?" she asked with a sneaky little grin, before she pulled him towards her by his collar and kissed him swiftly.
"I think we may really be worrying too much about this" Durham chuckled now, "I bet he´s just having a nice and relaxed talk with them…"
POV Legoshi
When I came back to my senses, I was standing upright and not at all able to move from that position. I felt a hard and cold surface on my back and the room I was in was the most messed up place I´ve ever been at in my life. There were gravel and pieces of wall everywhere on the floor, wooden planks and shards of glass where scattered all across the room. The few reflections of daylight just barely managed to light this place up a little.
I was tied to a stone-pillar by my hands and feet, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn´t free myself from it. Whoever had done this, they knew what they were doing.
I tried to calm myself down a little first, before I asked, "Hello?" into the room lowly.
I sensed I wasn´t alone here. I smelled at least two different scents already.
Then I suddenly heard a very deep growl behind me and footsteps coming closer. He walked around me and crossed his arms in front of his chest. The wolf who stood before me now was at least half a head taller than me. I guessed him around 30 years old, he had mostly black and grey fur and he seemed to be quite strong and fit although carried quite a big stomach around with him.
"Let´s see what we have here…" he began, examining me rather closely, "…you´re the new Beastar?"
I wasn´t quite sure if that guy tried to scare me right now or what his plan was, but he obviously didn´t get the reaction he wanted out of me. I wasn't scared of him, nor was I impressed by his way of talking to me from above.
"…the voting hasn´t ended yet…" I said, although I knew I could just have affirmed his question as well.
"Spare me the bullshit, kid" he grunted.
"Spare me the-" I asked in disbelief, "I´m the one tied to a pillar! The fuck! What do you want from me?!"
"I want you to shut up, accept it already and become a Beastar like you´re supposed to" he explained calm but explicitly, "And then I want you to suck our dicks like all the other freaking Beastars before you! You´ll do what we tell you to and never tell anything to anyone, otherwise this will get really ugly. We know who you´re friends with, we know about people you´re close to. And they´ll be even easier to abduct than you. You´ll be fucked for life if you try to betray or mess with us."
I just kept staring at him. This just seemed just too unreal to be true.
"Am I still asleep? Was this a bad prank?"
"You´re a good actor…" he continued, "…pulling that off convincingly shouldn´t be too fucking hard either, is it?" he asked, now at least in an a little less intimidating tone.
"And you are…who?" I asked him coldly, still not really impressed by all his gangster-talk.
He just wanted to open his mouth again, but then he suddenly got interrupted by a female voice.
"I´ll handle it from here, Fluffy…" she said sharply, just before she stepped out of the shadows as well.
His growl showed that he obviously didn´t like being called that, but it also seemed like he knew his place. He immediately made room for the red vixen with the elegant black coat and the eyepatch that came from behind the pillar as well now.
"What is it with the vixens in black clothing today?"
"Hello Legoshi" she greeted me firmly.
I didn´t really feel the need to react to that right now though. I was being kidnapped right now, I didn´t owe any good behaviour to anybody.
"…I see you´ve gotten to know your new shadow already…" she said.
I just took another quick look at the big Wolf to her left but didn´t say anything to that either.
"…you do not seem as scared as I though you would" she chuckled in amusement. Fluffy just growled a little once more.
"What is this?" I asked with a little growl myself, as I was getting really tired about this bullshit talk, "What am I doing here? Get to the point, please."
"Oh wow…" she chuckled, "…you were right, he really is mature for his age…"
I just sighed deeply once again.
"…preparation…" the vixen said after a short moment of hesitation, "…since its undeniable that you´re about to get voted the new Beastar…"
I just nodded slowly.
"…we have to make sure we´re on the same page about your…political views and responsibilities…"
"What responsibilities? The ones you´re gonna force me into?"
"He doesn´t seem too happy about getting the title to be honest…" Fluffy commented, now in slight amusement as well, "…I think he really didn´t want to become a Beastar in the first place."
"You don't say" I sighed.
"Now it´s too late to change your mind, sweetheart" she said with a little smirk.
"But look at it this way: there is an upside for you in all this…" the fat wolf told me with a dirty chuckle, "You´re not short of luxury anymore. Food, drinks, clothes, invitations to the most exclusive clubs…you name it. You can even get a new bitch every day if you want…we´re not short of anything."
"Just what are you talking about!?" I asked in annoyance.
"You´re going to have to stand through a lot of stress now. How do you think guys like you stay sane in this business?" he asked, "…or at least somewhat close to that anyway…"
"It is quite normal…" the vixen affirmed in agreement with him.
"I´m not part of this business!" I got a little louder once again, "I´m a highschool student! What do you want from me!?"
"I want you to stop crying already, Legoshi" she said dryly but still in slight amusement, "You are a pretender. You are a beast. You are a killer and you are a cold-hearted bastard, just like most of the other Beastars before you. And that´s a good thing, because-"
"That´s not true!" I yelled, "I´m not a killer!"
"…kid, I´ve seen what´s left of the Shishigumi. And although I´m not complaining about that, I can´t have you roam around this city without any guidance…rouges like you can become dangerous!"
"Just WHAT are you saying?" I asked in total disbelief.
"We know a lot about you, Legoshi" the wolf chuckled, still noticeably friendlier than earlier, "I know what you did to that tiger from your drama-club. I know what you did to his girlfriend…I know what you can do on stage, I´ve been following you for quite a while already."
"Why? …I mean...WHY…have you been doing that?!"
"…let´s say…" the vixen explained coldly, "…an…associate…of ours was a little concerned…about his position and the influence of his clan…if a certain wolf would get elected a Beastar and became involved in this again…"
"What?!" I asked in total disbelief, "Are you serious?"
"By the way" Fluffy chuckled ironically, "We´re having red-deer meat for dinner…wouldn´t you like to have a bite as well?"
"Was he…were they…where they really talking about Louis?"
"He…he tried to get me out of the way?" I asked, now calmer again.
"If you can count on anything…" she affirmed dryly, "…it would be that."
"He knows what he´s doing, that's for sure" Fluffy agreed, "Or do you really think he tried to poison you with komodo venom because he wanted that tiger to beat you and gain more respect that way?"
"Fuck."
That hit me like a punch in the face right now. That did happen. They didn´t make that up.
"Maybe they weren´t lying about the rest either…maybe he just used Bill as an excuse!"
But then I still didn´t understand why they abducted me. And I didn´t understand why they threatened me and my friends.
"What is the point of that? Why don't they just talk to me normally? Do they really think I am some kind of monster?"
I had so many questions right now, but I couldn't get my head clear enough to even start anywhere.
"…You seem a little stressed all over sudden" the wolf commented in slight amusement, "I think I could organize a nice, willing bitch for you in just a moment…"
"What?"
"They´re just waiting for young, fresh cock!" he grinned, "Trust me, you´ll feel better afterwards!"
"No! Stop! Just what are you saying?" I asked angrily, trying to free myself from the chains again, "I have no need for that! …Just let me go already!"
He actually looked a little disappointed now, but then his expression changed to something more professional again.
"Alright, kid" he sighed, "…that might be a bit much for the first time. You´ll understand sooner or later…"
The red vixen still typed something into her phone but clearly still listened to the conversation.
"Enough of that nonsense now" she then interrupted dryly, "I have better things to do with my time."
She now gave her phone to the wolf next to her, so he would hold it for her for a moment, came a step closer towards me and patted the side of my face with her hands carefully.
"Just play along and everything will be fine for you and your friends" she said, "We´ll make sure nothing happens to them."
I really wished I could believe that, but somehow it seemed like more of a loose claim than a genuine promise. There was nothing I could do but agree to that right now though, so I nodded with a dark, sceptical expression. I wanted her to know that I didn´t like what I was getting pulled into here.
She went back a few steps now, took back her phone and then finally signalized the big wolf to free me from the cuffs that kept me tied to the pillar.
Then she just kept on watching me in amusement like I was some kind of adorable child or pet to her. It wasn't a nice feeling, but there was nothing I could do about that either.
"You know…" I told her coldly, as she apparently wanted to leave already, "…I trusted her when she told me I would be talking to actual Beastars here."
"…you´ll talk to them sooner than you think" she chuckled, stopping in her tracks, "And don't be too mad at her. Skye is just doing her job, and she really didn´t go hard on you…did she?"
"Yeah, honestly…" Fluffy affirmed with a dirty grin, "I wouldn´t try to mess with her if I were you. Tried that once…wasn´t a good idea…"
"She´s one of the nicest people you´ll ever meet outside your normal life" the red vixen told me with a little wink, "…be glad I sent her to pick you up."
"What normal life?" I wanted to know, ignoring the other bullshit.
She just chuckled dryly about this once more.
"…he kinda has a point asking that" another female voice from behind the pillar chuckled now, "He is quite a big deal at his school already…"
"He´ll get used to it…" Fluffy now grumbled, apparently not liking how she was talking about me.
"…he´s eighteen, all this must be pretty new to him…" the white vixen who abducted me, now stepping into the frame again, chuckled.
Now she seemed just as sympathetic as when I first met her in the hallway of the TV studio again, but to me she still was a fiend right now, no matter what they said about her.
I just looked at her shortly, but I didn´t say anything about her comment.
"Come on, love…" she said with a little wink, before Fluffy finally opened the cuffs that held me in place, "…I´ll bring you back to your normal life for now."
Normal POV
Legoshi didn´t enjoy getting into that car again. But he didn´t want to walk all the way back on foot, and also, he had no more reason not to trust her. They would have killed him if that was their intention.
The silence in the car was almost unbearable though. Since she couldn´t think of something to say, and he didn´t want to talk at all, they just sat in the car and waited for the red lights to turn green, only to do the same thing on the next crossing all over again. To get at least a little more comfortable, Legoshi didn´t bother to ask for permission and helped himself to the button of the radio.

the same guy from earlier was singing on the radio right now, and this time Skye didn´t turn it off immediately.
"I kinda like this song" she even chuckled then, probably just to test his reaction.
This time Legoshi was the one who didn't answer. He has had enough of all those people for today, including her, so he just remained listening to the musical genius from across the sea, who kept on dropping one hit-single after the other.
He liked that song as well, so it at least calmed him down a little bit.
"…come on" she chuckled then, "I didn´t want to throw you in the cold water like that, so I acted a little tough…"
He still ignored her.
"…acting…" she continued, not getting out of her cheerful mood, "…you know what that is?"
Now he slowly turned his head towards her.
"Work…" he then said dryly, "…a lot of hard work."
She just nodded silently to that. It seemed like she didn´t expect him to be this mad right now. But there also wasn´t anything she could say against his statement.
"…you know…" she said a moment later, "…you have something very pure about you."
He still ignored her, but she didn´t let that get her down either.
"…something charismatic but yet adorable…you know…something…sweet yet really vicious…"
"Can you drop me off here, please?" he interrupted her all over sudden, pointing at the big building that was coming up on the right.
"What, here?" she asked, being a little puzzled.
Legoshi had seen the hospital on the way towards his "beastars-meeting" already, and since he still had a bit of time left, he wanted to visit him shortly.
"We´re nearly there" she said in slight confusion.
"I don't care. I´ll walk the rest of the way."
"Listen, Legoshi, I´m sorry I had to lie to you! I didn´t mean to hurt you, we just wouldn't have gotten the chance to talk to you otherwise…"
"I know you were just doing your job" he sighed, looking her right in the eyes for a moment, "And I believe you. Please just stop here."
"Alright" she said, switching on the right indicator and bringing the car to halt by the sidewalk, "Here you go."
He nodded with a little smile and opened the door already. "Thanks for the ride."
"See you later, Legoshi" she chuckled tiredly.
He nodded with a little smirk, then he turned around and went inside the building.
"What does he want in that hospital?" Skye asked herself at the next set of red lights, turning the volume of her radio and that Rico Capaldi -Song a little higher, "Is this about the tiger he almost killed?"
POV Bill
Somebody knocked on the door suddenly. Since the nurses didn't knock before coming into a room, it must have been a visitor. So I muted the TV quickly and told them to come in. I was hoping it was the nice girl I´ve gotten to know in the rehab-exercises a few days ago, but it was somebody I hadn´t expected to see today at all. He even wore the same, handsome black shirt- and trousers combination as on TV just about 90 minutes ago.
"Hey Bill" he greeted me lowly, closing the door behind him quick but smoothly.
"What are you doing here?" I wondered in slight confusion, "Shouldn´t you be-"
"I need to know something…" he immediately interrupted.
I hadn't expected that either of course, but I was curious nevertheless. "…what would that be?" I asked, since he looked really serious about.
Then he suddenly hesitated a little.
"…do you think…do you think it´s possible that Louis wanted you to kill me?"
"WHAT?!"
"With the komodo dragon-venom I mean…"
"No" I said out of the first impulse I had in my head, "…I mean…he even said he wanted to put the venom in himself because he didn´t trust me not to overdo it… …I mean…why would you even ask that?"
"He´s leading a criminal clan now" he said lowly, taking a look to his left and right quickly, "…I just learned it from some other really shady people."
"What?!" I said, chuckling a little because I thought he was playing me, "Dude, what kind of stuff are you high on right now? Can I get some as well?"
"All the Beastars are controlled by criminals" he stood by his statement, "…I´m not telling you this for fun."
Since Legoshi really wasn´t the type to joke about something like that, and he still looked dead serious about it, I kinda considered believing him at this point.
"…so…you´re saying Louis, the red-deer who almost got voted a Beastar himself, now is the leader of a criminal organisation?" I asked.
He nodded slowly. "They told me he´s leading the Shishigumi now, the clan I saved Haru from."
"A red-deer is the boss of a clan of lions" I asked, raising an eyebrow, still struggling to believe him.
"I know it sounds weird" he confessed, "…but it kinda makes sense! Where do you think he got the venom from?"
That indeed got me thinking for a moment.
"…but why would he want to get rid of you?" I asked.
"I think he´s scared of me" he sighed.
That sadly wasn´t too unrealistic either. He could rip that deer in half if he wanted to.
"…that venom really is dangerous stuff" I confessed with a little sigh, "I thought this was a little extreme too…"
"But…would he really try to kill me because I was in contention for the Beastars?"
"…I don't know…" I said after thinking about it shortly, "…I mean…it looked like he was on your side for the Volpone performance…but…"
I really wasn't sure if I should tell him about this. I didn´t want to be involved in any of this anymore. But then I looked into his face and knew it was the right thing to do. He was a good guy, and I´ve played against him long enough in the meanwhile.
"…there is something else that might be interesting…"
He silently nodded with an interested expression.
"…since I maybe get kicked off the school… …have a guess who knew about that and even offered me to ´work for him´ if I don't find anything else."
"Louis came to visit you here?" he asked in surprise.
"Just a few days ago…" I affirmed, "And now you´ve said it, it really does make a lot of sense…"
He just nodded a little, deeply lost in his thoughts as it seemed.
"…I never thought he would really consider to kill me…" he said after a short moment of silence, "…he looked really shocked at the day he tried to poison me…"
"He probably didn´t know you were immune to it…" I chuckled.
"Fucking hell…" he said lowly, shaking his head a little, "…and I find all that out just when I´m about to become a freaking Beastar?"
He looked genuinely confused about all this right now. And he looked exhausted. I could even say I felt a little sorry for him.
"Well…" I chuckled lowly, "…nothing is decided yet, so…"
"Come on…" he sighed, rising an eyebrow, "…you know it just as well as me."
"Yeah…" I confessed with an ironic little grin, "…the others looked really unimportant next to you on TV…"
He nodded in agreement.
"Yet, I´m probably the only one who doesn´t want to get voted…" he sighed, "I have no idea what I´m supposed to do as a Beastar."
"I think it´s just looking heroic, strong and sympathetic. And you got all that down perfectly, trust me."
"Yeah, yeah…" he sighed, "…just rub it in."
I just couldn´t help but stare at the tired wolf. He closed his eyes for a moment, leaned himself against the wall besides the window and took a few deep breaths to calm himself down a little.
"You´re looking good though…" I told him in slight amusement, "…that colour suits you well on TV."
"Thanks" he said lowly, still as humble as ever.
I wanted to change the topic a little bit for now, so he could get his mind off all that Beastars business at least for a minute. I decided to use that opportunity to pay him back a little for looking so handsome and likeable everywhere he goes.
"There is one more thing I wanted to ask you…" I told him with a little grin, "Did Sam really love your big fat dick so much?"
He looked a little surprised at first, probably because I said it so bluntly, but then just shook his head with a little sigh. This topic seemed to bother him more than me in the meanwhile. I found it rather funny in the meanwhile, he seemed really annoyed by it.
"Please, just don't think about that again" he sighed while shaking his head, "I should have never done that. I just told it to you like that because I wanted you to shut up. And she over-exaggerated about that like crazy. It was probably just to hurt you. Believe me, it really wasn´t that special…"
"She´s pregnant by the way" I told him now dryly, trying hard to keep my composure.
"What?!" he asked in total shock.
That moment alone made up for all the boring day´s I´ve spent in this bed already. That was just what I needed.
"…gonna have some striped wolves soon…" I said with a little nod, still somehow managing to not grin widely.
"Maybe I´m not that bad of an actor after all…"
"Shit! What the f…" he cursed, burying his face in his hands once again, "…What the hell? Where do you know that from?"
Now I couldn´t hide a little grin anymore though. "…I´m a lot better at lying than you, Romeo" I grinned at him now, "…don´t worry, I made that up."
He noticeably relaxed a bit now. He was a little mad about that prank of course, but that other thing still seemed to be more important to him.
"…I didn´t lie to you" he then said, lying yet once again with that.
"I´m over it" I grinned at him, glad that he wasn´t too mad at me for that, "…Sam and I should have split up a long time ago…"
That still left him a bit confused.
"…and I know you were lying there because you´re a good guy. You´ve always been a good guy, don't worry, I recognized that" I told him with a little wink, "…but trust me, I know Aoba for a little while. The way he looked at me when I asked him about that was pretty obvious…"
I just silently nodded once again. It still seemed like he was rather ashamed than proud about it though.
"Didn´t think you would believe me though" I grinned.
"Yeah, yeah…" he sighed with a little smirk, "Good one."
To relieve him of that topic now, I changed it to something I figured he might enjoy lot more:
"I´ve met this really cute girl just two rooms further down the hallway" I mentioned, "I see her every day in the rehab-exercises…"
Just like I thought, that immediately lifted his spirits.
"…she´s recovering from a broken leg" I explained, "…and I invited her for a cup of coffee at the cafeteria already…"
"That sounds awesome" he said, noticeably more cheered up now, "I´m happy for you!"
"Thanks."
"What´s her name?" he wanted to know.
"Camilla" I said, "But I´m allowed to call her Cammy already."
"Is she a tiger too?"
"No" I grinned, "She´s a very pretty, white furred wolf. But don´t even think about it, Romeo!"
He just shook his head with a happy, ironic little smirk.
"…so…when are you getting out of here?" he wanted to know now.
"…given they let me stay at Cherryton…I think I can go back to school in about a week from now or something like that."
He nodded with a confident smile. "I´ll talk to the principal" he said, "I won´t let them kick you out for this bullshit. Louis has got to pay for this now."
I nodded with a thankful smile. I knew I could count on him. "I´m gonna apologize to everyone" I told him once again, "To the drama-club, to Sam, to Sebastian…and to everybody else. I don't want to live like that anymore."
"I´m glad you´ve finally realized it" he said with an honest little smirk.
"Better late than never" I agreed with a tired little smile.
"I think I better get back to the TV-studio now" he sighed, getting his back off the wall, "…I guess they´re already waiting for me."
"Go get them, tiger!" I chuckled with a little wink, returning the fist-bump he offered me.
That dumb joke of mine at least brought another little smirk to his face.
"You too" he said with a little wink, "Greet Cammy for me."
And with that he went out into the hallway and let the door fall into its lock behind him.
I just couldn´t help but shake my head in slight disbelief. That wolf just continued to surprise me.
"You freaking legend, Legoshi! You freaking legend."
POV Jack
He was a notoriously good actor, be it on stage or in real life, but I immediately sensed that something was deeply wrong when he finally joined us again.
"Legoshi!" Juno greeted him excitedly, "Where have you been? It´s been over two hours!"
He just nodded silently, trying hard to force a little smile.
"Is everything alright?"
"…yeah" he said with a hesitant little nod, before he added, "…it´s just a bit much all that."
That on the other hand was really understandable, but the others didn´t seem to believe him either on the point of everything being alright.
"Did you meet the Beastars?" Miguno asked, who rested his head on Durham´s shoulders lazily.
He nodded shortly, "…it seemed like they don't have any doubts either…" he explained with a little sigh.
"They´ve shown an intermediate-stand about ten Minutes ago" Durham told him with an amused chuckle, "…some of the other candidates have already left the studio."
"What, really?" Legoshi wondered.
"The top three bars had 7%, 12% and 78% of the votes" I clarified, "So it´s pretty much decided."
Legoshi just nodded about that with a little shrug. It seemed like had accepted it at this point.
Juno now hugged him gently and let him rest his chin on the top of her head as she snuggled herself into his chest. That seemed to relax him quite a lot.
"Just look at him…" Durham grinned to break the silence, "How could you not vote him? Good looking, gentle, well-mannered…" he listed.
"Not dirty minded…" Collot added with a chuckle.
To that Legoshi couldn´t hide a little smirk anymore. It was the same with Juno and Anita, who now showed dirty little grins as well.
"That´s not strictly accurate" I chuckled in amusement, "…he´s not as innocent as you might think…"
"What?" Collot asked with a big grin, "…don't tell me there is a wild animal behind the facade?"
I couldn't help but grin even wider about that question and nodded a little. Legoshi wasn´t even too mad about it. He was pretty much all out of fucks to give at this point I assumed. It turned to really amuse him as well right now.
"Oh don't act so innocent yourself now, Jack" Legoshi commented with dirty grin, "There was a reason why you had to help me clean the locker-room that afternoon…wasn´t there?"
Anita and Juno couldn´t help but giggle about that loudly and the others just stared at us in pure disbelief.
I just nodded in amusement to that.
"Hey guys, what´s going on?" another voice suddenly asked, and I already recognized it as a familiar one, "What did I miss?"
"Aoba" Legoshi greeted him, "Nice to see you!"
We all nodded towards him with friendly smiles.
"We just talked about Legoshi and Jack cleaning the locker-room of the drama-club…" Miguno explained to him, "…and they just wanted to share more details about that…"
"Whaaat?" Aoba chuckled, turning towards Legoshi with great interest.
"There are not a whole lot of good spots for that at school" Legoshi explained dryly, "And Jack and I apparently both thought it was a better place than the pool on the roof…"
"There are cameras in the locker-rooms?" Aoba asked with a big grin.
"Not in the locker-rooms itself" Juno chuckled, "But they apparently noticed us on our way to get there…"
"I see…" the other star from the drama-club chuckled.
"Was worth it though…" Legoshi commented, still rather savage for his standards.
"Wait…" Aoba asked, now just realizing it, "…It was the four of you in there?"
That left us just grinning widely.
"Holy shit…" Aoba laughed out.
"Sounds freaking hot, doesn´t it?" Durham grinned.
"It was" Anita giggled.
"Oh wow" the bald eagle grinned, "…the whole school would actually pay to watch that and you got it for free? Should I be jealous?"
I found it quite funny that he was thinking like that as well. But it was true, I´ve heard that from a couple of different people who had seen Juno and Legoshi on stage. They all would have wanted to see them do more than just their intimate scenes in the plays.
"Don't worry…" I waved it off with a sneaky little grin, "They´re not as hot as everybody thinks they are…"
I caught Legoshi looking genuinely a little surprised there, and it was just the best thing ever. Then I added to that statement: "…they´re even hotter."
"There we go" Legoshi sighed ironically, as everybody around us began giggling happily, "Thank you…"
"It´s getting hard to talk yourself out of it in the meanwhile, isn't it, Legoshi?" Aoba asked in amusement.
"I gave up trying since not even Bill believed me anymore" he confirmed with a tired chuckle.
"Don't worry, Bill has earned it anyway" he waved it off, still really amused about it, "…his ego will survive that as well."
"I just saw him earlier" Legoshi told him, "Seems like he met a really nice girl in his rehab-exercises…"
"Really?" Aoba asked in surprise, "…I´m just coming from the hospital too, but he didn´t tell me anything about that..."
"What, really?" Legoshi asked in slight surprise, "You think he made it up?"
"Don't know" he said with a shrug of his shoulders, "…would be something he would do…"
"Yeah…" Legoshi sighed, "…good point."
"…but he hasn't told me about you visiting him either…" he explained, "…so there really is something fishy about that story…"
Legoshi nodded a little, but then he seemed a little distracted by something else all over sudden. I wasn´t even sure if he was still listening to the conversation. All that stress today really seemed to take its toll on him. I really wanted to know what was really going on in his head right now, but sadly, he still was too hard to read. There probably went a million thoughts through his head, but he still managed to keep a straight face about it.
POV Legoshi
Now that I knew about him, it seemed like he didn´t even try to hide anymore. Or maybe he hadn´t tried that before either, because I simply didn´t know about him.
Whatever it was in the end, now the big wolf I´ve gotten to know as "Fluffy" earlier was acting to just be one of the security guards of the TV studio, not also a shadow who followed me everywhere I went. I noticed him just after Aoba had mentioned that Bill didn´t tell him about my visit. That explained quite a lot, actually.
"Did they visit Bill after I left the hospital? Did they threaten him as well? Is that why he didn´t tell Aoba about it? Or did Aoba know something as well and was forced to keep quiet as well?"
Thinking about that distracted me so much, I couldn´t even concentrate on our conversation anymore. I just let them talk and kept my chin resting on top of Juno´s head for a moment.
Then, when I suddenly met Fluffy´s gaze, he quickly showed me five fingers and then a little motion towards the hallway with his head. I guessed that meant he wanted me to meet him in five minutes, but I didn´t feel the need to affirm that with a visible reaction right now. I just looked at him a little longer, then I turned my gaze back onto Aoba.
"… …right, Legoshi?" he asked.
"Sorry?" I said lowly, shaking my head shortly, "…I…I kinda zoned out…"
"Bill seems to be dreaming about you as well in the meanwhile" he grinned, "Isn´t it like that?"
The others grinned about this widely as well.
"Nah…" I said with a little smirk, "…I don't think so…I think he just finally respects me now."
"It´s getting time…" Juno chuckled, "…he tried to mess with you long enough in my opinion."
I nodded with a forced little smile, then I slowly released her from the gentle hug. "Guys, excuse me for a minute" I told them, "I had a lot of soda earlier…" I lied, before I headed to the hallway that had the restrooms in it.
I didn´t quite know how long this meeting would take, but I figured I´d tell them I met somebody important on the way.
As soon as I was out of sight from my friends, I already noticed Skye waiting for me in the hallway once again, casually leaning against the wall with her legs crossed one over the other.
"Feeling followed?" she greeted with an amused smirk.
I just ignored that comment and followed her, not feeling the need to reply to that.
"Don't worry, this time I won´t tie you to a pillar" she said, as she pushed the button for the elevator.
We drove all the way up to the top-floor of the building, and in the hallway she then led me to a room on the very other end of building. It was quite a long walk, and now she wasn´t trying to break the silence anymore either. This already felt really wrong again, I almost had a little deja-vu already, but then we arrived the door and she signalized me to enter it with a motivating little smirk.
She kept her word, she didn´t try to get me unconscious this time.
I carefully pushed down the handle and took a look inside, before I opened the door all the way and took a step in.
"There he is" the black furred horse commented with a little smirk, "It´s about time I get to meet him."
He was just sitting here, all casual and without any personal protection: Yahya, the former sublime Beastar and head of the police force.
I didn´t really expect to meet him here today, at least not before the final decision, but the person beside him I expected to see here even less.
"Legoshi" the aged komodo dragon greeted me lowly, sounding really uncomfortable about this situation already. He sounded a lot more formal than normally. As I really didn't want to embarrass him, I just nodded respectfully.
As a child he had often told me about the Beastars. About how a friend of him was voted a Beastar when my grandma was pregnant with my mom, about his decision to dedicate his life to his family instead of his career, but he had never told me that this friend of his was the notorious black horse who has been a sublime Beastar for so many years. Apparently, he wasn´t all that proud about it.
"Why has he never told me about that? Was he ashamed about his past? Did he try to hide all this from me?"
"Haven´t I told you time and time before that your family has the spirit and the qualities to become Beastars?" Yahya asked my grandpa in amusement.
Just now I noticed that Skye had closed the door behind me from the outside and I was all alone with them.
"He was such a shy and gentle boy just a year ago" he sighed lowly, shaking his head in great confusion, "…and now he´s becoming Beastar."
I actually knew in advance that my grandpa wouldn´t be too happy about this, but then again, I never expected it would come this far either. Now I didn´t at all know what to believe anymore.
"He´s looking good, Gosha…" he said, "…you should be proud of him."
I found it really odd how he talked about me.
"I´ve always been proud of him…" he replied, looking me right in the eyes for another moment, "…I could never be not proud of him."
"What´s the matter then?" he wanted to know, sounding more sharp now, "He´s a beast and he also is a big star already…"
"He´s not a beast" my grandpa disagreed rather distinctively, and he probably couldn´t even imagine how much I needed to hear that right now. It really meant something to me when it came from my grandpa. It didn´t just mean something to me, it meant something.
"I´m sorry to say it…" Yahya commented dryly, "…but I´ve never seen a wolf get a tiger into hospital with just one single punch. If strength like that doesn´t make you a beast, I don't know what does."
"I never meant to hurt him like that…" I said low but clearly, "…and I also never really wanted to become a Beastar."
"Pretty obvious from the way you were acting on stage…" Yahya commented that coldly, "…that one position everybody is fighting for, that one position that can get you rich and famous for the rest of your life! You got nominated by a sublime Beastar and you still act like you´re not interested?!"
I wasn´t quite sure how I should understand that right now. He seemed really angry about this all over sudden. But I rather asked myself why it was his business to tell me what to think. Apparently, I wasn´t alone with that thought.
"Careful there…" Gosha told him in my defence, "…it´s his -and his alone- decision to make. Some people have higher values than money and status."
"Don't let him make the same mistakes you made" he told my grandpa coldly, "…we need somebody like him! We need somebody like him since a really long time, and you know that!"
"It wasn´t a mistake" Gosha told him, still rather calmly for that matter, "…Legoshi is all I have left, Yahya!"
"He picked apart half the Shishigumi all on his own" the horse got even louder now, "Wake up, Gosha!"
"HEY!" I yelled at both of them now, more by reflex that actually thinking about what I was doing.
They both now stared at me with big eyes, but it lasted just for a moment, sadly.
"Wow" Yahya chuckled, now calmer as well, "…he really does know how to speak up!"
"Stop talking about me like I´m not in the room…" I told him coldly, "I´ve had enough of this bullshit for one day."
I tried to calm myself down a little bit more before I continued: "…I wasn´t all on my own. And I never wanted to fight with anybody. I wanted to save a friend of mine."
Then I took a really deep breath.
"…nobody really wants to fight, Legoshi…" my grandpa now sighed lowly, which wondered me a little.
"Yeah…" Yahya actually agreed with him, "…but sometimes you just don't have a choice."
"…what are you talking about? You want me to fight criminals with my fists all day long?! …I thought being a Beastar is about getting people from different species to live together more peacefully and…"
My grandfather now actually looked a little unsure once again, shaking his head very slightly.
He looked like he wanted to tell me the real truth about something, I knew that face of his.
"Legoshi…" he sighed with a calm motion of his hands, "…why don't you take a seat…I think it´s time for me to tell you about something I´ve never talked about before. I think it´s time you get to know the whole truth about your old man…"
