She was cradling her child in her arms trying to get her to take her medication that morning with the rain pelting against the window of the hotel room, it was distracting as she loved the rain. Jac tried and tried over and over and eventually, she got there before letting out a sigh of relief. It wasnt long before the child fell asleep in her arms. Jac frowned as her phone went off, she picked it up and saw Sacha's contact flash across the screen, Jac bit her lip and declined it. No one was going to dictate what she was going to do, not today. Maybe she was convincing herself though that she was strong enough to go through all of this alone but she well and truly had her guard up nothing was going to chip away at it thats for certain. Her mind was plotting, with Sacha's words from the night before still in it, and she came to the decision she was going to test the waters so she called Petrenko to watch her kid so she could go and test the waters at work to see what the fuss was about with work.

"Jac?"

"Henrik" she nods with a small smile, he shakes his head in disbelief that she was there "How are you?"

"I'm good, maybe we could have a catch-up?" Henrik suggests, she frowns at the odd suggestion but she found herself nodding and following him to his office "I've heard amazing things from Professor Hope"

"Have you" Jac smiles slightly unsure about where this could be going "I've just been doing my job"

"Of course, that in itself is amazing considering everything that happened before, with Ollie and with Raf-"

"Oh yes, Raf" Jac sighs in annoyance, when she found out about that she was angry because she knew what happened between her and Fletch meant nothing as they were both grieving for different things "I dont understand why I'm here"

"Just a catch-up nothing more nothing less"

"What's he told you?" Jac narrows her eyes, there was something awfully off about this conversation "I mean you wouldnt just drag me in here for just a catch up so I can safely assume you know something"

"Professor Hope stated you may have some personal battles that you may need people you trust to help" Henrik responds, she narrows her eyes "Thats all he said"

"Well I'm fine, thank you, I'm coping just fine" she states and stands up not entirely liking this interrogation tactic "I have things to be getting on with"

"Here" Henrik passes her an ID badge, she frowns and takes it before frowning, "I think you might need this, and I'm sorry for this"

"Whatever" she sighs and takes it before leaving the office leaving Henrik to sigh

It took a lot of courage to get back onto her ward, she lurked around corners for a bit before scolding herself at how stupid it was as she looked like some creep perving on patients. Jac decided to take the stairs to give her enough time to think. It was obvious both Henrik and Sacha were being shifty with her and that something had obviously happened, she just didnt know what nor did she really want to know when she thought about it as a whole. Jac had one goal for this trip and that was to keep her daughter safe and well, she just didnt care about anything else because if she did then her mind would detour from the fact she needed to help her child. When she stepped onto Darwin she hummed slightly and walked onto the ward, she hummed and walked into her old office before dragging her fingers across the glass top of her desk before she sat down in her desk chair and hummed. Gingerly she picked up some patient notes that were left on the side and began to flick through them, she breathed out before shutting them and returning them to their rightful spot. Jac got up and headed out onto the ward, she bit her lip and headed to Fletch's office, she leaned against the doorway noticing him hard at work scribbling things down, she folded her arms over her chest and he looked up before raising his eyebrows.

"Oh it's you" Fletch rolls his eyes, she laughs slightly expecting a little bit more than that "I'm kind of busy so if you dont mind..."

"Sacha hinted that you may be weird around me"

"You've spoken to Sacha?" he looks at her, there was a sense of worry etched in his expression causing her to frown "What did he have to say for himself?"

"Nothing really" she shrugs and takes the opportunity to sit down in his office, he turns to her trying to hide the annoyed expression over her making herself at home in his office "I see you still haven't done much with the place-"

"Why do you even care?" he snaps, she laughs slightly, her eyebrows flying to her hairline almost at his little outburst "Just...go I have work to do"

"Look...we need to talk"

"We really dont" Fletch states standing up armed with a bunch of papers, she frowns at him "I have work to be getting on with"

"Fletch just wait"

"What do you want from me Jac? You were the one who ran away" he chuckles and shakes his head "I dont really want to speak to you or see you if I'm honest"

"That might be a bit difficult" Jac starts, Fletch narrows his eyes "I'm going to come back to work"

"Whatever, just keep yourself to yourself" Fletch shrugs and walks off, she sighs and shakes her head before walking off as well

With that already decided she got to work on it, part-time to fit around child care mainly. She was sitting with Frieda in her hotel room talking to her about how Fletch was, she sighed and rolled her eyes at how Jac really didnt want to make this any easier for herself but with Jac's insistence that this was putting her daughter first she was forced to relent and agree with her even if she was sure that she was doing the right thing. Frieda wasnt sure though as Jac was none the wiser of what had happened during her time away from Holby. Eventually, Frieda left and Jac turned to her daughter, she smiled slightly as the child curled into her side, Jac brushing her fingers through her awfully fine hair as she snuggled against her body. All she wanted was to take her pain away.

"Hurt"

"I know" Jac whispers and runs her fingers through her daughter's hair to soothe her "I know baby, I know"

"Home"

"We need to stay here for a little while," Jac says quietly, the child nods against her chest before closing her eyes "You get some rest, you're going to need your rest"

"Pain"

"You can't have any more painkillers," Jac says quietly, the tears pricking her eyes at the thought of her daughter being in pain "How about a hot water bottle?"

"No" Eloise shakes her head and presses it into her mother's chest, it wasnt long before her breathing evened out and she was asleep whilst Jac just lies there holding her as she routinely brought her hand up to wipe her eyes at the thought of her child suffering

"I'm going to make sure it's alright" she whispers into her daughter's head "I am and then all of this is going to be another horrible memory"
