CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE
Website where all photos of all outfits mentioned is on my profile. 5 reviews gets next chapter early.
Surprising me Jax is up the following morning before me but one look at his face tells me why, he's dressed in old jeans and a t-shirt under his kutte, the fine splattering of paint on the shirt lets me know that it's his renovations shirt. Happy's standing in the doorway in similar clothing and both of them are looking impatient.
"Up!" Happy calls, turning towards the kitchen.
Jax grins, "I got him to wait till 7 by finding out where you had hidden the cupcakes and bribing him with them. He wanted you to get up at 5."
I smile, "Thanks." Stretching I throw the blankets back and climb out of the warmth of the bed. I'd washed my leggings and left them sitting out so I could wear it for the next demo day, so I quickly dress in them and a faded Metallica t-shirt. Lacing sneakers onto my feet I giggle at Jax's expression.
"What?"
"I don't think I've seen you in sneakers since you got back. It's been hot as fuck heels since you got back." Jax states looking at me.
Mentally filing away the 'hot as fuck' part of the sentence I walk past him, "Can't really effectively help renovations on my own house in heels."
Entering the kitchen I find Happy's managed to work the coffee machine and there's a pot of coffee just finishing, he's sitting at the table with a bowl in front of him with cereal remnants in it.
As soon as my foot hits the floor in the kitchen he's up and hurrying me towards the door, a to-go cup of coffee in one hand and a couple of slices of toast in the other.
"HAP." I shout, "Stop!"
He abruptly stops just inside the door and raises an eyebrow. "What?"
"I can't go till Donna gets here, then we have a stop at the clubhouse to make, and a stop to see Wayne before I'll be ready to go. But if you want I'll give you the key and you can go start on the other upstairs bedrooms?"
Happy shakes his head, "Nah, I'll wait."
I nod, "Okay, do you want anything else to eat? D won't be here for at least another 30 minutes."
Happy shrugs so I go into the kitchen and pull down the cupcakes for today's demo assistants before cleaning the kitchen quickly.
The last cup is just in the dishwasher when I hear a bike and a car and Happy's voice, "They're here."
Coming out of the kitchen and into the living room I giggle at Happy where he's standing right by the front door, he's already ready to go, bar the helmet which is hanging from his hand.
Picking up the cupcake carrier I follow him and Jax outside, Jax muttering behind me about over enthusiastic destroyers which makes me laugh.
Climbing up into Opie's truck with Donna behind the wheel I let her know of the stops we have to make before we can go to the house so she pulls out of the driveway and turns towards the clubhouse.
It doesn't take long for me to collect the frozen meals and pack them in a couple of old liquor boxes while Happy hovers in the doorway. The second I close the second box and the freezer door he's calling out for the prospects to come and carry them out to the truck.
Pulling into the driveway of the Chiefs house shortly afterwards we see the cruiser in the driveway.
"Morning." He calls as I jump down from the cab.
Spinning round I spot him sitting in the shadows of the deck. "You startled me, I didn't see you there. I have something for you and Della."
Wayne looks curious as he walks over, "What?"
"Well if you wait a second and let Happy and Jax inside with those boxes you'll see." I say, wrapping my arm through his and tugging him towards the house while the two nominated bikers follow me with the boxes in their arms.
After getting directions to the kitchen I unload the boxes into the freezer, almost filling one side of the chest freezer that takes up one corner of the room, turning I see Della leaning up against the doorway with a confused look on her face.
"Hey Della, how are you?" I ask, closing the lid of the freezer and collapsing the boxes.
"Good, what on earth was all that?" She asks, stepping over to me.
"Wayne did a favour for me; well several, but one more recently and he said that he's been having issues with his appetite so I did some cooking for you both." Opening the freezer I take out one of each of the 3 types of meals I've packed in there.
"There's lasagne, chilli and a cottage pie in these containers, each has the little tag on the top of what it is and how to heat it, both from frozen and from thawed." Setting the containers back into the freezer I'm wrapped in a massive hug before I have a chance to close the lid again.
Pulling back from her I look at Della's face, she looks absolutely exhausted and I'm sure it's partly due to her husband being the chief of police, even in our tiny town, but most of it is probably because her husband has cancer. A tear slides down her cheek and she swipes it away while taking a deep breath.
"Thank you." She says, sighing deeply, "I was running out of ideas of what to cook for him."
I shrug, "Well I'm happy to make things for you guys whenever you need to. Just keep the containers and I'll do another lot for you next month?"
"That would be amazing, thank you." Della sounds relieved that someone realises how hard she's been trying and how much it's taking out of her.
Wrapping my arm around her shoulders we walk towards the front of the house where the guys are all standing with Wayne. Stepping through the front door I meet Jax's eyes and see the concern in them for how overrun the front of the house is getting.
Walking away from where Della is leaning on Wayne's shoulder telling her what I've done, "Hey Jax, Aaron's pretty good with a lawnmower isn't he?"
Jax immediately gets what I'm aiming at and nods, pulling his phone out of his pocket and flicking it open.
"Shithead, got a job for you, bring the mower and the weed eater to the Chief's house." He raises an eyebrow at me.
"He might want gloves and weed killer too." I say, stepping past Jax and hopping back up into the cab of Opie's truck.
"Did ya hear that?" Jax snaps down the phone before hanging up a couple of seconds later.
The 3 Sons present all nod at Wayne and get back on their bikes as the Chief looks stunned and what we've managed to do in the space of 5 minutes.
Waving as we pull out of the driveway Wayne raises a hand in a salute and we head towards my house.
