She could hear him breathing next to her, she closed her eyes and smiled slightly at the gentle sounds coming from him. Jac couldnt help herself but roll over and place her arm across his chest, she smiled to herself as he brushed his lips against her head and pulled her in closer to him as they just laid there together, her head on his chest right above his heart, she could hear it beating in a gentle rhythm causing her to smile once more. Fletch brushed his fingers up and down her arm gently, her eyes were still tired and he would do anything to take that tiredness away from her. He couldnt do that though, her phone went off and she immediately took hold of it and frowns at a message from Frieda, she looked at her alarm clock and gasped realising the time so she leapt out of bed to get dressed before hounding Fletch to do the same. They headed to the hospital and Frieda rolled her eyes before going to start her shift leaving Jac and Fletch there to tend to their daughter.
"Hopefully you'll get discharged today" Fletch kisses Eloise on the head, Jac smiles at him and then at Eloise "Maybe I can speed some things up by filling in the papers?"
"Please do" Jac groans quietly "I want her out of here as soon as possible"
"I'll see what I can do" Fletch nods and kisses Eloise on the head one last time before leaving, Jac sits on the edge of the bed with her daughter and smiles
"How was your night with Frieda?"
"Good" Eloise nods before smiling at her mother, Jac smiles back and runs her fingers through Eloise's hair "Can daddy come home with us?"
"I'm not sure, daddy might have to work" Jac whispers, Eloise nods slowly "How about we call Emma when we get in as well?"
"When is Emma coming home?" Eloise implores, Jac sensed she was agitated which worried her "I want to see her"
"I know, she's like your best friend isnt she?" Jac says quietly, as Eloise was so unwell she didnt really mix with kids her age apart from Emma "How about I see what I can do? I'll speak to Emma's daddy-"
"Just like you speak to daddy about me?"
"Yeah" Jac confirms, Eloise grins at her "It's just complicated, adult things usually are"
"You always have adult things" Eloise mumbles, Jac just laughs slightly at her daughter's words "It's true"
"I suppose it is" Jac smiles as Fletch enters the room with Eloise's notes, he smiles and starts to fill out the discharge papers "Everything ok?"
"Perfect, she can go home after we get the signature from her doctor"
It didnt take long, not with Fletch on the case and Jac was grateful for that as she could get her daughter home. Unfortunately, Fletch had to work as he hadn't been pulling his weight all that much so Jac took Eloise home alone. They sat together on the sofa with a blanket and rang Emma who was actually on her way home from school so they talked about everything, Jac asking how her life was as she was living with her father. Emma just shrugged and was non-committal like she was every time. Jac promised her soon that she would be back with them and that soon enough put a smile on Emma's face. The call soon ended and Jac put Eloise in her bed for a nap and did her medications through her tube whilst she was asleep so the likelihood of her kicking up a fuss was minimal. When she got back downstairs there was a knock at the front door, she smiled slightly and opened it to see Fletch standing there armed with some bags of shopping for her.
"Thank you so much, I haven't had a chance to do a home delivery"
"It's fine Jac, I'm here to help, Evie helped too" Fletch smiles, Jac sighs and nods before helping him with the bags "Do you want a coffee?"
"Yes please" she yawns tiredly, the caffeine boost would be very grateful right now so he made her one as she sat on the sofa
"Where's-"
"Upstairs having a nap which is a good thing because it means I could do her medication with ease" Jac rolls her eyes, he chuckles and sits down with her "Thanks for the shopping though"
"It's not a problem" Fletch shakes his head, she closes her eyes and breathes out "You seem tired"
"I'm always tired" she laughs, he places his hand on her leg, she puts hers on top of his "I'm not looking forward to being pumped with hormones though"
"As long as you dont cry over stupid things"
"Oh shut up, when I was pregnant with Eloise I cried over dropping a pen, Elliot thought I was losing my mind" she laughs slightly, he smiles at her and sighs "I have photos if you want to see? I mean not of me but baby photos, her scans and stuff?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, come on" she smiles and stands up with her coffee, they head upstairs remembering to be quiet so they didnt wake Eloise, she shuts the door to the bedroom and heads to the wardrobe to pull out a box, they sit on either side of the bed and she passes it to him so he opens it and pulls out the photos "Yeah it's all of those"
"She was so small" Fletch whispers, Jac nods turning the photo over, they smiled at each other when she did it, their eyes just staring into one another's "Five pounds eight ounces?"
"She was so small...tiny" Jac shakes her head in disbelief, he looks at her and she smiles sadly "I fed her myself you know"
"Really?"
"With Emma...it was hard to do that but...with her I made sure I did everything perfectly when I found out she was alright inside of me, thriving, even if she was small when she was born. She was just perfect, looked just like Emma and then she got sick and after fighting to do those things such as taking maternity leave, putting her first instead of work, feeding her myself, skin to skin...it all just felt like it was nothing I guess"
"This is the first time you've said these thoughts aloud isnt it?" he whispers and she nods sadly, he immediately hugs her "You should have told me"
"Should have, would have, could have... it's not going to help going over and over it" she looks at him, he nods sadly and rests his forehead against hers "I'm ok, I am, I know it's not my fault I do...just those internal thoughts sometimes rise and..."
"I'm here now" he twists his fingers through her hair, she smiles gently "And I am not going anywhere"
Eloise woke up and she gingerly peered around the bedroom door seeing her parents sleeping on the bed together, she smiled and climbed onto the bed and nestled herself between their bodies. Fletch woke and smiled at her before pressing a finger to his lips warning her to be quiet so she didnt wake Jac who was still fast asleep. It wasnt long before Eloise snuggled into Jac's body and woke her up, she hummed before frowning and wrapping her arms around her daughter's body. Fletch whispered that he was going to pop home as he needed to check on the kids, Jac nodded and hummed in agreement before falling back asleep with Eloise. It was around a couple of hours later a knock on the door woke her so she got up and answered it seeing Fletch there armed with bags causing her to frown.
"What are you doing?"
"Moving in" he shrugs, she looks at him confused "And before you even mention the kids...they're fine, my dad's looking after them"
"But-"
"But nothing" he whispers "They want me to help so I'm helping, is that ok with you?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"Nope" he grins as Eloise comes down the stairs she frowns "Hey princess-"
"Dont call her that" Jac points at him, he rolls his eyes whilst Eloise giggles so he lifts her into his arms "She'll act spoilt"
"You won't act spoilt will you?" he looks at his daughter who shakes her head back and forth with such emphasis Jac wondered how it didnt fall off "I'll cook tonight"
"Why?"
"Because you're bad at cooking" Eloise shrugs, Fletch smirks at his daughter "It's true! You always tell me to be honest mummy"
"Fine daddy can take up the role of cook then" Jac rolls her eyes and sits on the sofa, Eloise joins her before Fletch passes her one of the injections "Just under two more weeks of this rubbish then hopefully...we'll get somewhere"
"What's that?" Eloise asks, Jac sighs and looks Fletch who sits down beside his daughter
"I hope that in time it'll be something to make you feel better"
"Me?"
"Mhm" Jac nods as Fletch passes her the alcohol wipe, Jac winces as the needle goes into her skin causing Fletch to kiss her on the head "Hm, that hurt"
"I'm sorry" Fletch whispers, she closes her eyes before letting out a tired sigh "I'll get started on dinner, do you want to help me, Eloise?"
"No" she shakes her head and snuggles into her mother's side "Will it make me all better?"
"I hope so" Jac confirms with a small smile, she knew if she explained in depth Eloise wouldnt understand "Because we all want you to get better dont we?"
"I want to get better"
"I know you do and hopefully this will help you get better...forever"
She watched from the door as Fletch put Eloise to bed, she smiled happily to herself that he was there, he was so good with her, probably better than she was. It was something she liked, a lot, more than a lot. After she was fast asleep she watched Fletch put the book on the side that he was reading her and then they walked down the stairs and sat on the sofa together to watch some telly before bed. He announced he was going for a shower so she nodded and continued to watch the movie in front of her. Jac fell asleep and when Fletch came back downstairs he smiled slightly at her and turned the television off and then lifted her into his arms and took her up to bed, she woke as he placed her down in bed, she grabbed his hand and he frowned at their connected hands.
"Stay" she whispers, he smiles and nods before passing her some pyjamas, she undresses in front of him and he bites his lip before undressing as well "Thank you"
"What for?"
"Being you...being our rock" she whispers and curls into his side as they got into bed, he presses his lips against her head "Thank you"
"I'm going to be there every step of the way" he mumbles and she smiles up at him, he smiles down at her before breathing out "We should..."
"Yeah" she nods slowly turning over on her side, a frown on her face wondering why he won't kiss her, she knew it was probably just everything that was going on "Night Fletch"
"Night Jac" he presses his lips against her head causing her to close her eyes and smile to herself, he smiled to himself too
