"Oh my. This is unexpected," Fon muttered to himself after returning from his post-training shower. Someone had been in his room. At first, Fon wanted to hunt down the trespasser and give them a warning, but his more sane side overrode his Storm instincts by noticing the new additions to his room. Two boxes sat innocently on his desk. Both white with a clear lid, allowing Fon to view the contents of the boxes without worry. Whoever left them was obviously someone who knew of his paranoia of being sent a bomb. Or a prank. Or even worse, a prank bomb. Fon's sister had done that to him before. It had taken a week to wash the glitter out of his hair, and the resulting trauma had stuck with him ever since.
Moving closer, Fon looked into the first box. There were several smaller boxes inside, all packaged neatly. Fon smiled, recognizing the logo on the boxes. It was his favorite brand of tea, and it looked like all his favorite flavors were there as well.
The second box held a cake. What was most peculiar about this cake however, was the design. It was a basic rectangular shape, but the top was a picture painted in what Fon suspected was food coloring. The image was of Fon holding his smiling newborn nephew, Kyoya, who had his braid in a vice grip and was happily trying to pull it off.
The actual picture was taken three weeks ago in Namimori when Fon went to visit his sister after she had given birth. Kyoya was only four days old and already Fon knew that he would do anything to protect him. He kept the photograph in a frame on his dresser and smiled every time he saw it.
Scrawled in red icing in the blank space of the image was the message Happy Birthday Fon-Senpai! Fon smiled softly. There was only one person at the manor who knew about the picture of Kyoya, Fon's tea addiction, and called him senpai. It took little convincing after that for Fon to prepare himself a slice of the no doubt delicious cake. Upon eating the first bite (and no he most certainly did not moan at the heavenly taste) Fon had to wonder something. How did Skull know his favorite cake was Orange cake? And how did he know Fon's birthday?
And there we go! The last chapter I needed to rewrite for the Birthday Wishes Miniseries. From here on out, it'll be all new content. For this fic I mean. I still have a long ways to go before I'm finished rewriting everything. But I'm getting closer with every chapter and that's the most important thing.
I still have a bunch of chapters I need to type up before I can post, but I can't make any promises as to when I'll be able to get them. I've been sick since monday, so while I've wanted to update more, I just haven't felt that motivated. I've mostly just been sleeping. I hate getting sick but sometimes it's just unavoidable. Don't worry though! I'm getting better. Got a whole bunch of meds to take now but if it means I can go back to my normal schedule faster then it's worth it. I had to call into work again today because the Doc I went to see said I was still contagious. It's not covid, but the good ol fashion flu. I had thought it was strep throat but I was wrong. It's weird though. I'm not used to having free time any more and suddenly I have several days off from theater and babysitting. I genuinely didn't know what to do with myself at first. I do feel bad, since I had to call in on Wednesday because I had to take my dad to the hospital, and then again today because of the flu. I hate calling into work because it always screws everyone else over, but there was nothing I could do to avoid it. I'm just going to try to recover as quickly as I can. In the meantime, it gives me a lot of free time to work on my fanfics, so you guys are lucky.
I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter! I want to try to post at least one more chapter tonight, but I have to type it up before I can. Hopefully my "helpers" don't try to demand attention like they did before I started updating. I love my cats to death, but they are bossy. Please Review, Follow, and Favorite!
