Chapter 12: New Directive

Hurrying back underground and to the hanger zone they soon spotted the rest of the Invisibles, standing by the newly arrived ship. Louis was right, it was a smuggler ship, certainly a type they favoured and right now, coming off it, were two females. One appeared to be in her late twenties to early thirties, reasonably tall with short brown hair and brown eyes, rather pale and slender. The other was younger, the same age as Sarah, slender with lightly tanned skin, shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes. She seemed rather more serious than the older woman as they brought a few crates with them and stopped in front of Tripp.

"Shel, Becca." He said. "Glad you managed to make it...Heard the Empire's been clamping down lately."

The younger one, identified now as Becca, scoffed. "Ha, takes more than a few idiot Imperials to stop us."

It was then Clem and those with her reached the group.

"New members?" Shel asked, quirking an eyebrow at them.

Becca, Clem noticed, was instantly on guard.

"Yes, some people we rescued from the Imperials at Crunus…" Tripp explained, introducing them all. "Then finally, Clementine."

Shel and Becca's gaze turned towards her, but Clem was too slow to react to the feeling she had, thus she wasn't able to turn enough to hide in time. Thus when they looked over at her, both Shel and Becca saw the lightsaber hanging from her belt.

Becca's eyes widened as Shel gaped.

"No way." Becca gasped. "A Jedi?"

Clem sighed. "Jedi Padawan."

She was really beginning to get tired having to correct people like that.

"Oh, so you're the one they-" Shel began, eyes wide.

Noticing this the others turned their focus to her.

"Shel?" Javier queried.

She cleared her throat. "I have news to bring...it's going to be, especially concerning to you, Javi...and your nephew. Clementine as well based on what I overheard."

That made everyone grow concerned.

Finally Eleanor spoke up. "What, what is it?"

"Quick, help me and Becca out here, getting the supplies off the ship, after that, we'll be able to talk freely." She explained.

Tripp nodded. "Alright, let's go people."

As they approached the smugglers ship, noting the confused expressions on Clem, Gabe and the Ericsons crew's faces, Sarah explained.

"Shel and Becca have worked with us for a while now. We have supply bases like Brun, but...there are some things we just can't get. So, for a fee, they'll get them for us."

Nodding in understanding Clem and the others quickly followed as they began to gather up the cargo that had been delivered to be stored safely. All the while they couldn't help but wonder what this news Shel had to bring them was about. For Clementine, the fact that it was apparently of some concern to her, Gabe and Javi simply made her even more nervous.

Before long they were in the same meeting room Clementine had met Tripp and his colleagues in, all waiting to hear what Shel and Becca had to say.

Becca spoke first. "Okay so, on our way here, we intercepted an Imperial Signal, for some strange reason it wasn't encrypted or encoded in any way. It mentioned the planet, Ientor. That mean anything to you guys?"

There was a pause before Paul spoke up. "I've heard of it, it was a planet that was sacred to the Jedi, on the Outer Rim. There was a race living there that revered the Jedi and after the purge continued to maintain it…"

"Well, the Empire's there now, so that race is either extinct or enslaved." Becca continued. "Anyway, they're after something there, some sort of shrine, just like the one on this planet."

There was a lengthy silence after that until finally Max spoke.

"Is there no limits to their depravity, first the Antar Atrocity, now this…" He paused and then added. "If there's a shrine there, it's likely gonna contain the same secrets as the one here...or similar at least."

"Which means the Empire could try to excavate a way in...or have one of their Force Users open the door, the only way to do so." Conrad confirmed.

Tripp shook his head. "Excavation would be their only choice, the Jedi would've thought of that, made sure anyone utilizing the Dark Side wouldn't be able to open the door."

'So, at the very least that's why they needed me.'
Clem realized. 'Sarah is Force Sensitive, but unskilled; I'm the only one with enough focus and training to open the door of either shrine.'

But it was clear from the looks on Shel and Becca's faces that they weren't finished.

Finally, after sharing a look with her younger sister, Shel revealed.

"The Empire is already aware of the shrine being important to you guys...They're hoping you'll come for it. That group you mentioned that was after your Jedi. They've got their main ship, the Impulse, stationed above the planet and a ground force already there, a base all set up." She paused and shook her head. "My belief is that they're expecting of the contents of the vault to lure Clementine here to the planet and to make her open it and take her and it's contents in one swoop."

"A trap, really. Even if I don't go, they'll break a way in and take what's inside anyway." Clementine remarked.

Shel shook her head. "That's not all...Javi, Gabe...they have hostages there with them. We managed to get their names."

"Who?" Gabe asked worriedly.

Becca then revealed. "Kate Garcia and Mariana Garcia."

They both froze, as did everybody else as the full enormity of the situation and the whole scope of the Imperial trap was laid before them, the fact it was so obviously a trap just made things even more worrying, especially as the circumstances had backed them into a corner, there was no way they could not go to Ientor now.
