Chapter 43: Together Again
Reaching the rendezvous point the ship emerged from hyperspace and found the rest of the Invisibles were indeed present, all docked with a much larger ship. It was an old salvaged lucrehulk that they were using as a temporary base. As they drew closer Sarah unbuckled and stood up, smiling.
"Well, that wasn't quite how I pictured us getting out of there, but...we made it." She said.
Luke nodded. "Yeah. Still, this...to come to this point, the things that happened, the people we've lost."
Sarah bit her lip, bowing her head. "I…I know."
She tried to push the thoughts away, this wasn't time to start reflecting on her father's death. As she tried to put these thoughts away the doors at the back opened and Becca and Kate emerged, fully dressed.
"There, much better." Molly said.
Becca sighed. "You said it, urgh."
Shel hurried over to her sister. "Becca, are you-?"
"I'm alright Shel, nobody touched me or did anything." Becca explained. "Not that those bounty hunter scum didn't try, especially Arvo."
Kate's expression darkened. "That's what me meant by deal, Carver was willing to give Becca over to him, like some sort of...slave."
Javi gently touched her shoulder. "Hey, you guys are safe, we got away and they're more than likely destroyed now."
"You're right, that's what matters."
With that they all calmed down and readied themselves as they finally docked and left the ship, entering the lucrehulk to meet with the other members of the Invisibles.
Waiting for them was one of the Invisibles agents, one who had come to their aid when they had been attacked on Valunt, Kenny.
"You made it, we were worried." He said, smiling. "I see you've been successful too, that's good."
Molly nodded. "We got lucky, the Imperials decided to attack the same time we put our plans into actions, gave us a good cover to escape."
Kenny nodded slowly. "Hmm, hopefully. I don't like the thought of Imperials being there. Luckily, even if they are looking to track us, we'll be gone from here before long."
"So, does that mean-?" Luke asked.
Kenny nodded. "Yeah, the injured have recovered."
That caught Sarah's attention and she smiled. "That's wonderful, we better go and see them."
Kenny smiled and agreed and soon they were making their way to the bridge where Kenny had said everybody had gathered. But before Sarah could follow them, a quiet voice got her attention.
"Sarah?"
She turned and smiled softly as AJ emerged from behind the supply crates he had been ducking behind.
"Hey kiddo." She greeted him softly.
She bit her lip, knowing they'd both suffered the same pain. But again she marvelled at AJ's strength as he spoke calmly.
"I'm glad your back." He told her. "Oh, the Holocrons are still safe. I've still got them."
Sarah nodded and gently squeezed his shoulder. "Good work. C'mon, we better go and check in with the others...We, we can talk about what happened to us later, yeah."
AJ nodded, understanding what she meant, hold things together, be strong just a little longer. With that they left the hanger and went to the bridge.
As they headed for the bridge, Sarah reflected on what she knew about Kenny, which admittedly wasn't much. A tall man with greying black hair with a similar beard, an eyepatch over his missing eye and black eyes, he had lost his wife and son to Imperials and as a result he was dedicated to the Invisibles and was determined to bring down the Empire. Finally reaching the bridge, Sarah looked around, smiling at the sight of certain members of the group, injured people who had since recovered. With Molly, Luke, Shel, Becca, Russell, Wyatt and Vince standing alongside her on one side and AJ on the other, she took note of the Ericsons crew opposite her. Louis, Brody, Ruby, Aasim, Willy and Tenn. Javi and Kate had joined their family, Mariana, Gabe and David. Also present in the middle of the room were Tripp and Eleanor, the leaders of the Invisibles along with Paul Monroe. Finally she took note of three other people present, all members of Kenny's rebel cell. A tan skinned woman with long dark brown hair, brown eyes and a slender build named Sarita. Then there was Walter, a pale black eyed man with thin grey hair and his partner Matthew, a thinner man with black hair and a goatee and black eyes.
"Okay, good, we're all here." Tripp remarked. "Well, we need to get out of here as soon as possible...seek a new base."
Kenny spoke up at that point. "My team and I were scouting out a planet, should be perfect for us. Lusnes. Similar to Valunt only...different climate. Not quite so sunny."
"It'll more than do, I'm sure." Eleanor said. "Our main problem right now is figuring out what we're going to do next, once we get there."
They fell silent, considering, knowing that what Eleanor said was true, but after a moment Sarah nodded to AJ and spoke up.
"We know what Vader's Fist is after, now sadly they have an advantage, they have five of the eight Holocrons." She explained. "But we have the other three and they must have all eight to complete their plan."
The others shared a look, knowing what she meant, knowing they had those three Holocrons.
Finally, Tripp broke the silence.
"Alright well, that much is clear. But I'd still feel better if we had some way of making sure we had at least the other Jedi Holocron." He mused. "I'd also feel better if Clementine was here."
That sent a ripple through the group as they all muttered and Sarah shared a look with AJ, sighing sadly.
'I know I certainly would too...Clem, where are you, we need you?'
But she knew, due to the horrific revelations that had been made, ones which everyone was certain were not the whole story, that Clementine had hidden herself away and their chances of finding her again were slim to none.
