Chapter 48: Love Ignited
Coming in to land, Violet was surprised by the surroundings she found herself in.
"Seriously, the Jedi come here for their kyber crystals...all this snow and…" She whispered.
Clem smiled and nodded. "I know, but it's important, after all...it's one of the few places where Kyber crystals are formed naturally."
Violet nodded. "Alright, so...how do we find our crystals?"
Clementine began to explain as they walked through the snow, ignoring the swirling flakes and wind.
"Now of course, we're not following the usual tradition. But it still follows the same meaning." Clementine told Violet. "We'll feel our crystals through the force and in our hearts, they'll resonate with us and then...we just have to reach them."
Violet nodded. "Alright, I understand...Clem, I um…"
But Clementine seemed distracted as they entered the caves and Violet decided to hold back for now. All the same she couldn't ignore the feelings that were swelling inside her, she realized now that what she felt for Minerva wasn't true deep love. But what she had come to feel for Clem, that was real.
'It's why I felt so angry when Minerva tricked me into thinking Clem had truly abandoned me' Violet noted to herself. 'It made me so angry, because it hurt so much, because I loved her. I still do…'
She just hoped she could finally tell her the truth.
Entering the caves they almost at once felt the pull of their crystals, both very close together.
"This way." Clem said at once.
Violet nodded. "Yeah, I feel it too…"
They walked in silence, mostly drawing strength from each other as they stuck close, working to overcome any obstacles they came across, mostly jumps that seemed impossible or working out how to open a path using the light crystals to refract the sunlight which was being enhanced by a specially made lens in the roof of the chamber. Their progress was slow but steady. But it was clear that both of them were lost in thought, relying on the Force and their instincts to guide them.
Clem bit her lip as they drew closer. 'This is it, we're so close now...but Vi...what was she wanting to say, was it...was she…?'
She had to admit, despite her inability to say anything about them earlier, she couldn't deny her own feelings for Violet anymore, she felt she had to say something. Hopefully Violet would listen, she certainly seemed to hint it with her own attempts to talk earlier.
"We're getting close now." Clem confirmed. "We'll get our crystals soon. You have what we need to make our lightsabers?"
Violet nodded. "Yeah, right here."
She patted the bag she had strapped to her armour.
"Good, um...Violet, I was wondering." Clem replied.
Violet looked up at her suddenly. "Yes Clem?"
Clementine smiled at that. "Once we find our crystals, before we get to work...I think we should talk."
Violet bit her lip, but nodded. "S-sure, of course."
It was certainly something to give her hope. They reached a small clearing inside the cave, with a two peaked crystal formation in front of them, glinting on top of it was the kyber crystals which had guided them this far.
They paused for a moment, watching the crystals as they glowed, then looked at each other.
"We made it...that was more exhausting than I care to admit." Clem said.
"Yeah, true…" Violet agreed. "But we made it and now, it's time."
"Yeah...we made it together though...Maybe we were meant to do it together." Clem suggested.
Violet blushed. "Maybe, maybe you're right. I mean...look at the crystals, they're together."
They both smiled at that and both decided, mutually, that it was time.
"Clem."
"Violet."
They both paused, laughed at their speaking at the same time.
"You first." Clem offered.
"Clem I just...I've been meaning to say for a long time. I've had...feelings for you, so long I've wanted to say something." Violet began. "But I just...I was too afraid to say anything, afraid for what you would say, that you wouldn't feel the same. Look at everything that happened because of Minerva. I was scared of that too-"
"I don't blame you. The way she messes with people's minds." Clementine remarked. "She turns even positive emotions into something dark and scary. But I would never do that, I love you too Vi."
Violet's eyes widened, hope filling her.
"It's true, I do. I've loved you for a long time. I've loved you even back during those days as scrap workers." Clementine continued.
They both grinned, blushing as they took each others hands before leaning in and their lips met as they finally kissed.
When they finally parted they both smiled, determination filling their eyes as they picked up their crystals and soon got Violet's equipment out and used a large ice plain to get to work, forging their lightsabers together, their hearts full of love and their emotions guiding them as they worked to finally ready themselves to finally rejoin the battle. With their lightsabers finally forged they stood and faced each other and nodded, they held their blades up and ignited them, the cave lit up with their new lightsabers, Clementine's orange blade and Violet's purple one. They both turned off the blades and fixed them to their belts.
"Okay, let's do this, yeah?" Clementine asked.
Violet nodded and working together they found an easier way back and reached the ship, it was then they felt it, a strong disturbance in the Force.
"Clem, what was that?"
"I...I don't know." She replied. "We...we need to get to the source, quickly."
Violet nodded in agreement and they boarded the ship and took off, heading to their new destination, one that Clementine could feel was not the new location of the Invisibles, but that raised more questions in her mind, namely what on earth was causing this feeling?
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
