Chapter 59: Aftermath
Groaning as she opened her eyes, Clementine blinked, trying to ascertain where she was.
"Clem!"
She started and then saw Violet seated next to the bed she was in, smiling.
"Vi...I, um…" She stammered.
Violet helped her sit up and sip some water. "You're awake, that's a relief...it's been, three days."
"Three days, but wait, what, how…?" Clem gasped.
Violet bowed her head. "After you blacked out, Shel's call was received by the Invisibles. They started a bombardment on the ruins and forced Vader to back off. We got Brody, Luke and Minerva's bodies and got you and then got on the shuttles and escaped."
She trailed off after this, bowing her head and Clem reached out to her.
"I'm sorry Vi…I know we tried. Minnie turned, you saw it. She saved us." She said softly.
"I know...I just wish she could've...but it wasn't in vain." Violet said at last. "I'll give you time to pull yourself together, then we should...get going."
Clem stood up from the bed and they hugged.
"Where?"
Violet tightened her grip. "The memorial service, for those we lost…"
"We know about Kenny and his group, Tripp...Luke, Brody and Minerva…" Clem began awkwardly.
Violet nodded. "David died too…"
"Oh…"
There was an awkward silence, finally broken by a relieved Sarah and overjoyed AJ coming in, AJ rushing to Clem to hug her and Clem did her best to smile. But it wouldn't be long before they would all be mourning as they finally got ready for the memorial service.

Clementine sighed softly as she stood, slightly apart from everyone else. The memorial service had been small but poignant. The bodies that had been recovered being given a fitting send off while those whose bodies were unable to be recovered were still remembered with fondness. Everybody spoke and gave their memories. Violet had told everyone about how Minerva was before she became Nyx, reiterated her return to the light and how she was the one who had saved them from Vader. Nobody had disagreed and for that Clem was grateful. But now came the important question of what was next. She knew that, thanks to a word from Saw Gerrera, the Invisibles were looking to leave their current base and join up with other rebel cells which were beginning to come together. Meanwhile the Smugglers were looking to head off on their own path and return to their work. At that moment, Eleanor approached.
"Still wondering what you should do, huh?" She asked.
Clem sighed and nodded. "Yeah. I just...After all that's happened-"
"Clementine." She shook her head. "You don't owe us anything, we owe you. It's unfair of us to keep expecting so much from you. We will be fine...the choice is yours and you can decide what you do now...you have a ship and you have people who are willing to follow you. But where you go, that's all up to you."
Clementine smiled at that. The freedom of choice, something she hadn't really felt for a long time. Now, the future was open to her, all she had to do was choose.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
