"Damn it, DeSoto, watch where you're going, will ya! I just mopped-"
Chet's annoyed shout followed the sound of the metallic clang of the heavy mop bucket being knocked over echoed through the engine bay. Hurriedly pushing open the latrine room door with Brackett following closely behind, Cap was just in time to see Roy stumble into one of the latrine room stalls and drop to his knees before heaving up what little he had in his stomach. Quickly turning direction, Cap grabbed a towel and wet it before turning back and heading towards Roy in the latrine stall just as Roy rocked back onto his heels and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
Handing Roy the wet towel, Cap waited until Roy wiped his face before helping the ill paramedic to his feet and lightly holding his arm, helped him across to the sinks. "Are you okay, Pal?" he asked softly after Roy splashed water on his face and rinsed his mouth out with water.
Roy nodded slowly. "I'm fine," he murmured as he turned and leaned back against the sink, not wanting to move much too much more until the room stopped spinning and dizziness passed.
"How about you take a seat on the bench and let me be the judge of that?" Brackett suggested as he reached for Roy's arm.
"I'm not damn Gage who doesn't bother to open his damn mouth and say anything to anyone every time he's either sick or injured!" Roy snarled, shocking both Cap and Brackett with the viciousness in the tone of his voice they had never heard before as he yanked his arm free from Brackett's light hold. "I said I'm fine! So why don't you all just leave me the Hell alone!" He growled, his anger exploding as he pushed himself away from the sink and began to stalk towards the door.
"Roy!" Cap ordered firmly, "Sit down and let Dr Brackett check you out!"
"Or what?" Roy hissed angrily as he turned back to face his captain, "You'll suspend me if I don't?"
"No, Roy, he won't have to because I will," Brackett answered softly.
Reaching up, Roy unclipped his badge before he reached into his pocket and pulled out the squad's keys before he flung both items at the two men. "Well, neither of you have to because I am sick to death of always having to be the one who has to babysit losers like Gage and Hodges. And I'm sick and tired of everyone always expecting me to be responsible for Gage and then being blamed for Gage's screw ups, even when we're not Goddamn partners anymore! Well, I'm not doing it anymore, he's already screwed up my life enough. I don't need him, or Hodges, or anyone else screwing up my life any more than it already is! I quit!" He yelled before he turned and shouldering Chet out of his way as he stormed out of the latrines, leaving the three men staring in surprise at the empty doorway after his outburst.
"Roy?"
Roy ignored Mike as he saw out of the corner of his eye Mike rise from his chair and started to follow him as he charged through the kitchen and headed out the back door. Running across to his car, Roy reached into his pocket, relieved to find his car keys still there. After fumbling to unlock the car door with his shaking hand, he reefed the door open and slipped inside before slamming the car door closed and starting the engine and putting the car into drive. Spinning the wheels on the slick cement, he fishtailed the car around the side of the building, accelerating down the driveway towards the road as the world around him suddenly faded away into dark oblivion. His chin dropped down to rest on his chest as his car reached the end of the driveway and shot out across the busy road as the sound of squealing brakes and honking horns began to fill the air.
