A big THANK YOU to Ally R. Swan who have been reading and reviewing on this story even though she haven't been watching the series/ movie. And also to Jean-Moddalle for reviewing.
I haven't finished any more stories since I updated last. But I have written and shared some oneshots. First one for the saddle club called "The devil on the wall" in memory of Cathy Godbold, then "You get what you need" because I wanted to write something for Red band society, and at last "Real family isn't always by blood" because I wanted to write something for No good Nick.
I also started another story called "What I did for hate" and it's set in the dumping ground-fandom and the main character is Bec when she gets some bad news about her gran.
As for June 2021 I have made some changes in the story. I deleted Captain Bob's chapter and his chapter will now be the last one before the epilogue.
I was wondering whether I should make one chapter each for Daley and Lex, or one chapter with them both, I finally decided on doing it like this.
Daley Marin
"It was put on the news that you guys were missing..." The flight attendant told us right before we started going in for landing. "...For someone to know where to search next. It made big news so you can expect there are all kinds of reporters and journalists waiting for you inside the airport. He looked around and smiled at us all. "I don't think any one of us had ever expected to find you so your families will be the happiest to see you. Now, take your seatbelts on and we'll be landing soon enough."
I could hear my little brother gasp next to me, and I couldn't blame him- the last time we had gone down from the air...
No matter how clearly my brother knew it wasn't to happen again and how little risk there were I couldn't blame him. I could feel it too while I remembered back and realized we had been lucky to survive the crash...
And then everything that had happened afterwards and finally, here we were...
"You should go first..." I said, to take my mind of things just as much as for Lex's. "...You've done so much for us on the island. We could never have made it through one single day without you."
"But you were the one who turned the light upwards so it was caught be the cameras. If you hadn't turned it then we'd still be there... or the typhoon Melissa would have killed us... Now you should go first."
"Do you know what?" We suddenly heard Eric behind us. "I should go first. I'm the one who almost died on that island and that would mean I can go first and tell everyone about us..."
"But Jackson got really ill too." We heard Taylor. "And he was the one who everyone wanted as our leader..."
Flashback
The plane over us startled us as it flew lower and lower and lower without reaching the ground. This one just seemed way too alike where flight 29 had ended up...
"THERE'S NO PLACE TO LAND."
At last the plane was so near us the pilot could shout with a megaphone for us to hear it.
"BUT DON'T WORRY. WE'LL BE BACK WITH HELICOPTERS TO BRING OUT WHOEVER IS HURT. AND A SHIP FOR TAKING ALL OF THE REST OF YOU. WE WILL BE HERE BEFORE THE STORM IS."
At last the man stopped talking, he turned the plane one last time and then the plane flew away. Further and further until we could neither hear the plane anymore.
We could hear the storm coming and feel the wind, but when the plane had gone away everything seemed still and quiet.
So many times during the past four weeks I had wished I could teleport myself and all of my friends and enemies to where we came.
At last I just sat down right where I was, in the sand and crossed-legged. And it wasn't long until I could see in the corner of my eye and hear that my brother did the same next to me.
If there had been someone there except for us this would have been quite a sight. Because at last we sat in one long line on the sand only staring towards the horizon and none of us saying a word for a long while.
"No place to land." I couldn't help but to give a short laugh at last. "How ironic!"
"Do you think they will actually come back?"
I guess Taylor and her ways was the only one who dared to ask the one thing we were all wondering. What if we had gotten this far? Four weeks on an island in the middle of nowhere, found and thought we would be saved and then we'd just wait and wait and wait.
"LOOK!"
Suddenly Melissa's voice ran through the silence in between us and she pointed straight ahead at the horizon. I had for sure dreamed away so much I hadn't seen it but as she pointed and shouted we all looked and got onto our feet when we undenyably saw a grey, floating machine.
At first it was only a grey spot miles and miles away...
I got onto my feet, so nervous that I couldn't keep still. What if... after all of this time, the whole world had forgotten about us and would disappear as quickly as they came?
I noticed I wasn't the only one...
"Why can't they just take us all in one of those. If were going by that one riding by ship when the storm comes isn't going to be fun."
No one said anything, but we all knew Nathan was right. No way would anyone of us make it to land without being terribly seasick.
"None of this have been fun." Melissa said at last. "Maybe it' s going to get worse before it gets better."
As if the weather knew what we were talking about another thunder roll went through the skies.
Suddenly we heard more sounds from the skies, none of us knew where to look, the ship came closer and closer but so did the noise from the skies. I was looking back and forth and everywhere and nowhere as the ship came closer, but also as three helicopters roared through the skies...
And then, at last I just had to say something...
"I guess they never forgot about us."
End of flashback
We all drew each breath of relief when the plane's wheels hit the asphalt and we were on solid ground again...
"It feels so far away..." Eric suddenly started. "What have just happened seem a thousand years ago and it feels like a thousand years until we can be home again..."
Eric was just a bit pissed off since we had figured Lex would go first and not him...
Lex seemed to hesitate and when he was onto solid ground he stopped and turned his head.
He was only eleven after all. He couldn't be expected to do things on his own. He had gone through things most people don't go through in a lifetime and we couldn't expect more of him...
"Come on." I took his hand at last. And in a heartbeat it was just like we were the only two left in the world. "Let's go home."
Random fact
I've been working for weeks on this chapter. But I could never keep concentrated on writing. And I couldn't come up with a good ending so that one will have to do. I hope you liked this.
