"So.. You aren't even from this world huh?" Rayas said, his mouth full of food, He gulped it down hard and chased it with some strong coffee with more than a little Iislidian whiskey in it. Hiei could almost admire the young man for his utter lack of reaction to the strong drink. Almost.

"No.. It would appear not." The demon said, grabbing yet another cinnamon bun from the huge silver platter in the middle of the massive table. The guild hall was cozy. Rustic, Nothing like what he had been expecting, a warm cozy hearth upon which his cloak was drying gave the space a cheery glow and the various arms and shield hung upon the walls were a nice bit of décor. "You seem to be taking that fact surprisingly well.." He added as he ripped a chunk of the heavenly sweet bread off and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Oh…Well, yeah you see…this kind of thing actually happens a Lot around here." Rayas said sheepishly.

Hiei choked on his cinnamon bun, pounding a closed fist on his chest to clear the clog "W-WHAT?"

"Yeah….so I'm actually a summoner." Rayas said with an entirely too jovial laugh. "I see strange people from even stranger worlds like All the time, but.." he very briefly looked serious "I didn't summon you or your friend. I don't know How you got here…but if that big flash in the sky last night near where we found you was any clue? It was someone with unimaginable power."

Hiei chewed thoughtfully, looking at the man before him's eyes, searching for a lie. When he determined that there was none to be found, he swallowed. "What are you saying, exactly?"

"I'm saying that there's a lot more to this than a random duo dropping from the sky into the middle of a war. I plan to figure it out, but in the meantime, you and your big buddy-"

"Kuwabara."

"Y-yeah, him.. you guys are my guests and are officially under the protection of the guild as foreign seekers of asylum. Rayas stood, and reached across the table to shake Hiei's hand with a grin. "Welcome!"

Hiei said nothing, nor did he stand but he did transfer the entirety of the remaining cinnamon roll to his mouth so that he had a free hand. He shook, hard, and transferred a good deal of frosting between them as he did. Rayas made a face at this, but Hiei did not seem to notice or care. As soon as he was finished, he retrieved the dangling giant pastry from his teeth and began once again to tear of pieces to eat. He nodded curtly to Rayas, with a full mouth.

"Lovely…" Rayas said wiping his hands on a cloth. "I think we'll get on just great."
