Now before we begin I just wanna note that this is a little short story in honor of the latest Disney Series: Amphibia. For all you Amphibia fans, you should know the series well by now and if you seen the latest episode "Olivia and Yunan", than you're probably gonna enjoy reading this! For those that don't, I recommend not watching it to prevent your hearts from completely shattering into tiny pieces. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy this. How to train your Dragon belongs to Dreamworks and Amphibia belongs to Disney. Okay guys, stay safe and enjoy.
"Hope. It makes you weak! Humanity clings to the belief that a savior will come. That a hero will rise. Shrouded in armor, to save you. It won't! Armor can be broken, bodies shattered. When you look back on these last days, you will realize, that all you've built...was a tomb. A place where hope dies!"
-Escharum, Halo Infinite.
Darkness. Nothing but the cold, unwelcoming, blackened darkness. The endless void deeper than any ocean. There was no light shining through a little hole. But then, miraculously, there was light. Or at least some form of light for the beast that seemed to be awakening. His hide was covered with black charcoal scales that covered his body from the tip of his tail to the top of his head. His wings extended far out for at least 20 feet. Which were now spread across the floor like a grounded airplane. Under those wings were another set of smaller flaps that open and close when gliding.
And at the end of his tail, stood to fins, one grown natural, and the other prosthetic. Which kept table when fin flight. From his back, is a set of spines that run down from his head and tail. And only open when taking tight turns. Under him are a set of four legs, the front ones hang from his underbelly and the back ones hang from under his second pair. On the back of his head, four ear-like antennas lay back.
And in front of his head, an emerald eye with black pupils at the center opened slowly. He was a Night Fury, the rarest of his species and probably the last of his kind. He has no other name. But the name that his previous partner gave him when he was a young adult. Yet humans called him by one name. "Toothless." For he would sometimes appear to have no teeth when smiling. He would be known as one of the most feared dragons alive. Famous for his uncanny vision, and extraordinary senses.
But now his eyes started wincing as the dragon started to regain consciousness. His head slowly started to hurt, aching and like bruises that flowed through his mind. His senses started to come back to him. The memories that had happened to him before were completely winced a little bit more before shooting his eyes out. Seeing the dark sky that cast over the horizon. Not much was known about dragonkind. But Toothless, he was no other dragon. He battled a previous alpha dragon in single combat and defeated it. And with it, the last domain of his ancestors occupied with dragons was his by right.
He was proclaimed King of the Hidden World and ruler to all dragons in its domain. However, not so long ago he stepped out of his territory. Enjoying the refreshing moments of that was what Toothless loved to do most. Then he remembered a huge portal appearing out of nowhere and snatching him before he could escape. And then everything went totally black. Beyond that the Night Fury couldn't remember what happened or how he ended up here. Where ever here was.
He warbled a bit before trying to pick himself up. Doing his best to try to get up on all fours. And after four attempts, he finally did it. He shook his head and flickered his tail before figuring out where exactly he was. He looked around and saw that he was on a beach. To his right, he saw the calm oceans with a low tide rising from the waves. And to his left, he saw a a large door attached to a huge structure with a brick road that stretched for miles. He did not trust this path, but his instincts told him otherwise.
It was a long path, but it was easier once he was in the air. It eventually led him into a strange temple that had the door wide open. He landed just outside of it and checked to see if there was anyone else who could be around him. Luckily for him, no one was there. He turns back to the entrance and slowly follows a staircase. He kept his guard up and looked in every direction.
For he did not know what expect. He was now on an uncharted world alone. And he does not have the support of the other dragons to back him up in case if he was ambushed. But that did not mean he couldn't handle himself. And for that, he had to be careful.
Once he reached the bottom, he saw an entire area that was almost similar to a library. The only difference was that there were a lot of ancient artifacts and weapons similar of that of a viking. Which made him a whole lot more curious. He looked at the weapon that was nearest to him. Which was a sword. Unlike the ones from Berk, this one was more curved and seemed to be very unique.
He turns to the next one and spots an axe that was one sided instead of two. And as he went on, he started to see many others. But the most peculiar one was the one that was at the end of the hall. He walked down towards it and climbed up the frame to take a look at it. But instead of a weapon, it was a book. A book that had two eyes for symbols and was titled "Dr. P's Extraordinary Guide to Magic & Mystery."
Toothless did not know why it was called that, but it might be something taking a look into. And thanks to Hiccup's reading skills, he was able to learn from his best friend, and understood the knowledge within books. So he did not need to worry about how to use or translate a book. Upon opening a book, he stumbled upon a page with pictures of three colorful stones, along with a chest with a frog symbol on it. When he looked to the bottom of the page, there were a few set of words. Which stated, 'Calamity box. Travel to other worlds.'
The Night Fury did not understand what those words meant, but if it had anything to deal with how he got here and why, then that's probably the first thing he needed to look for. A good start for before he could learn more from the book, he heard something from the tip of his ears.
He turns around to see what it was, and next thing he knew, he noticed a shadow of a large being. Along with a few inaudible words being spoken. The Night Fury growled in response. It seemed that whomever it was that was there was coming this way. So without a second thought, Toothless rushed to the darkest corner of the room and hid himself from the unexpected intruders.
Once they entered the room the Alpha Dragon could only observe the scene. As he was not willing to blow his cover. From what he saw, there were three individuals. One of which was really big and the other two were puny. Yet what surprised him about these beings were that they were some sort of amphibian creatures. Amphibians cloaked with dresses and armor. The the bigger one had a huge sword strapped onto his back. For which Toothless did not wish to know what it was for.
The bigger amphibian strolled into the temple with his hands behind his back while the other ones were just a few feet behind him.
"Lady Olivia," the big amphibian said. "Is it almost ready?"
"Almost King Andrias," said one of the smaller ones, from which was cloaked with armor. "It should be ready within the next few days."
"Good," this 'Andrias' proclaimed with satisfaction. "My plans for world conquest are almost complete. I just need to hear from Cloak-bot back on Earth. If he succeeds, then there will be no one to stand in my way."
"Of course your majesty," the other amphibian acknowledged, though slightly annoyed with his gloating.
"That is all for tonight ladies. You are dismissed."
With that the two smaller amphibians took their leave. This time heading out the way the Night Fury came from. With the bigger amphibian being the only one in the room, the Night Fury zoomed in on him to get a better view. Through his eyes, he saw a big light blue giant. Probably the biggest he's ever seen. He also looked to be stock and very muscular, with a white long beard and crows fear. He also wore a dark purple metal suit of armor with an x battle mark in the left abdomen. Inside that armor was a light colored shirt with silver cuffs. Among that, he also wore a gold snake belt with a purpleish yellow tunic for pants. But what really got the Dragon King's attention was the crown that was above his head. Which had a symbol of an eye right in the middle of it.
The crown symbolized his right as king. Or that was Toothless's first impression after so many years of battling viking kings. And if this was indeed a king he was spying on, then he must tread carefully if he was going to make it out of this place alive. He continued to look within the shadows and saw the amphibian take a round object from out his pocket and stared at it. Toothless did not know what it meant, but at the same time dared not to move another muscle.
From within the object, the amphibian king looked into what would be a picture of a teenage girl and a couple of frogs. He did not know whom they were, but he suspected that they would be the amphibian's next prey.
"Soon my master's promise will come true," he spoke to himself. "The prophecy will be undone and I will have my vengeance. Let's just hope my newly found pawn will be as accepting to the transition anticipated."
For a moment, Toothless wondered whom this so called "pawn" would be. Yet he figured that if he stuck around in there for too long then he probably would find out. Though he could attack now and catch the amphibian off guard, he figured that this creature was stronger than he looked. Luckily for him on the other hand, the door from which this 'king' came from was wide open. So as quiet as a mouse, the Night Fury slowly made his way to the door. Both eyes locked onto the king's back. Watching his every move in case he turned around.
For a moment, Toothless wondered whom this so called "pawn" would be. Yet he figured that if he stuck in there for too long then he probably would find out. Luckily for him on the other hand, the door from which this 'king' came from was wide open. So as quiet as a mouse, the Night Fury slowly made his way to the door. Both eyes locked onto the king's back. Watching his every move in case he turned around. Within a few inches from the door it seemed that he would be home free. Yet he was so into the moment that he did not notice a small pebble that was near the entrance. Upon touching it, the pebble cracked. Sounding off in the emptiness of the room. Which caused Andrias to stop what he was doing.
"What was that?" he whispered before spinning around towards the door. "Who goes there?!"
But upon seeing where the noise came from, there was nothing. Not a single soul to be found. The Amphibian King squinted, making a humming sound in a wonder if he was just hearing things. And after a split second, he shrugs it off before going back to staring at his round ball.
As for the Night Fury, he found himself bolting down a flight of steps. He did not know why the steps were leading further down and cursed himself for not taking a path. But his instincts prevented him from stopping as he continued to race down the stairs. The fear of being caught drove his nerves into an endless sprint. He didn't even notice any of the glowing creatures that were floating around nor did he notice the old paintings that were on the walls as well. He did not remember how long he has been running for, but he knew that if he stopped running, it would probably mean trouble for him in the future.
But then suddenly, before he could take a moment to think, he let out a whelp as he came to a screeching halt upon coming across what seemed to be the bottom of the staircase. The black dread took a moment to catch his breathe before lifting his head up. Where he came face to face with what seemed to be a large door. Which had a large symbol with eight arms attached from all side. At the center of it was the same symbol that was from the amphibian king's crown.
He tilted his head to the right out of curiosity. It intrigued the Night Fury of the question of what would be behind it. So he slowly prowled over to the door and nudged his head into trying to open it. Yet before he could Toothless paused for a moment to think about the situation. Anything could behind this door that he could not be ready for. It could be a trap. Or it could be something else. Maybe something dangerous. But his willingness to find out nonetheless intrigued the Dragon Alpha into doing it anyway. So he takes a deep breath before pushing the door open with his head.
Once it was open, Toothless pushed the door to the other side before finally being revealed what his curiosities were insisting for him to find. For his first impression, Toothless saw that the entire room was at first pitch black. But before he could second guess himself, the Unholy Offspring of Lightning and Death Itself saw a small light that shined over an object at the back of the area. From that angle, he saw a large stasis tank. Above the tank were a bunch of tubes that lead inside the tank. Which were strapped onto something that Toothless could not see at the moment. He glanced around a bit, making sure that he was truly alone before slowly approaching the tank. He moved cautiously with each step being light and calculated. For he did not wish to set off any traps that this room would have if there were any.
Upon continuing his approach, bubbles started to come out of the tank. Which meant that something was definitely in there. He did not know what it was, but there was definitely something in there. As he drew closer and closer to the tank, he spotted two pairs of limbs floating from within the tank. Two arms and two legs. And there was only one species in the world that he knew by heart that had two arms and two legs. He stopped just a hundred kilometers from the tank to confirm his suspicions. And upon seeing the being inside the tank, it finally hit the Night Fury that there was indeed a human in the tank.
And not just any human too. As the King of Dragons examined from afar, he noticed that the human turned out to be a female. And was no more than Hiccup's age from when they first met. In fact, so many things about this human reminded him of Hiccup. Tall slim body with short hair. Though the only difference was that she was much younger then when he and Hiccup first met. He guessed that she may be two years younger. Around 13 to 14 human years.
Apart from that, her skin was slightly darker and she had a green barrette on the side of the head. And also wore something that looked like a suit of armor, with an orange dot at the center of her chest. But above all else, but to him personally, this human seemed to look pretty cute. Like, one of the cutest humans that he had ever seen in his life. Sure other humans like Astrid and Heather were beautiful, but there was something about this human that looked so adorable. At least for her age.
At that moment, he slightly became awestruck with his new discovery. It has been a long time since he has encountered another human having left Hiccup for the Hidden World ages ago. Yet while copping at the sight of this mysterious human, he still brought his sense back and continued his approach. He was within five yards from the tank before he heard a sizzling sound from the ground. Which made him jump back in a widely alarm. When he looked down he saw steam coming from the vents attached to the ground. He then looked at the tank and back at the vents. Before coming to the assumption that the two were connected.
He looks to the ground to see if there were any other vents, only catching a glimpse of them on the left side of the room, with the right being completely free. Upon seeing this, Toothless went the right side of the room to continue his approach. As he came closer and closer to the tank, other things started to become noticeable to the Night Fury. The first being the large scar that was across the human girl's chest. Along with other minor injuries. Soon he became within an arm's length of the tank and soon stopped to take a moment to observe.
The human seemed to be asleep within the confines of the tank. And there was a tube covering her mouth. Probably for breathing purposes. Whether or not she knew he was staring in her presence was unknown to the King of Dragons. But as he continued to stare, so many questions filled his mind. Who is this human? Why is she in the tank? Where did she come from? Does the amphibian that he seen before have anything to do with this? Is she this 'pawn' that he was referring to? And so on. But the most important question that came into mind was: What should he do?
Sure he found a human in the tank. But what to do now was something totally inaction that stifled his next course pondered him into coming up with the best decision. Which made him tilt his head and let out a low warble. And then an idea came into mind. Why not get her out of the tank? If this truly was the 'pawn' that Andrias spoke of than who knows what would happen. And the last thing he wanted was to see this beautiful innocent soul suffer by the hands of a conqueror.
He looked behind his shoulder to make sure no one saw him before climbing up to the top of the tank. From up top the Night Fury dipped his head into the water and grabbed the girl by the scruff of her neck. Doing as much as retracting his teeth so he didn't crush her spinal cord. Then he climbed down from the top and gently set the human down against the glass. After that was down, he used his teeth to rip off the cords that were attached to her arms and legs. Freeing her from her bondage.
All was good until he come across the tube that was connected to her mouth. He first took a sniff at it to determine if he should take it off. From what it seemed it looked to be safe. And the Night Fury then proceeded to remove it. Once it was removed, he heard the girl cough a bit and watched her regain her senses. When she finally began to open her eyes, that was when he heard her speak for the very first time.
"Sashi? Anne?"
That's it for now. For any who ask, this story is broken down into several parts. So stay tuned for more.
